It's ok. Nothing special. Second time there when someone was learning to make cocktails. Didn't shake it anywhere long enough and it wasn't good. If you are a student you will probably like it.

Hipster bartender ignored me for 10 minutes while he emptied the glasswashers, so we left!

Absolutely the worst karaoke venue in the world world. If I could give less than one star I would. Do not waste your hard earned money here

Didn't stay for food, but what went past us looked lovely..Great atmosphere quirky little pub.

What a cool pub, I really enjoyed my time here, and their Pilsner was really good.

My partner and I loved this pub! The concept is so clever, and we were lucky enough to see Frankenstein make an appearance! I had their own lager and it was very nice! The staff were very polite and the music was good as well. This is a must visit for anyone visiting Edinburgh!

Beautiful location, nicely done in an old church. Frankenstein who welcomes you at the front door is really fantastic! The disadvantage I found was that you had to get your order yourself at the bar. But we only had a drink there.

A pub where you can have a drink with the difference that it is set in Frankenstein. Every now and then a Frankenstein appears from the ceiling and goes down to half height and moves. Curious show. Another pub but with that difference in the center of Edinburgh next to the Museum of Scotland.

We only stayed for drinks but, we had the BEST time! And, the *spectacle* was quite the surprise!

Good place however I ordered a bowl of fish , praise £27 for 3 shots of vodka and a 1 mixer drink the rest was full of ice and cocke , not worth it,

I mean, it's like a theme park bar. It is neat and loud, but feels like it's there to attract tourists. I don't know, it just feels like a bar inside Disney land, in medieval Edinburgh. Bizarre, but I have no complaints.

Great show every hour of monster being lowered. Pizzas were excellent but not a lot of choice. Service lacking, 2 staff members chatting behind bar and ignored me and others waiting to be served.

Such a great concept, the atmosphere was so fun! Expecially after finishing up a ghost tour. Would recommend. Plus their merch is cute!

Bar with a lot of atmosphere. Special decoration. Ideal for taking a break and having a drink. Plus you can be lucky enough to see Frankenstein himself wake up hehe. Friendly and attentive staff.

Always a good night in here, good staff even the door staff are friendly. One draw back is they dont accept cash but on the whole a very good night out to be had

We chanced upon this place while wandering around Edinburgh and, as I love the Universal monsters, I had to go in. I'm so happy we did! This themed bar is just a great atmosphere. I was lucky enough to catch the monster's appearance and sample their Pilsner. Excellent. Of course I had to buy a tee shirt. I spoke with two employees and they were friendly and welcoming to us. Had a great visit.

Took my boyfriend here for the first time & he loved it. Friendly service & reasonable prices. The pizza that we ordered was a bit greasy but didn’t ruin anything. We definitely be back

Oh my gosh, so cool. This is a must see and must experience pub located in a pile of old churches. Must be experienced.

Sadly, when we were there, the kitchen was closed, BUT everything else was so great !! We had a really good time, the mood of the pub is unique, and so are the cocktails. It is possible to drink from a fishbowl and while it can be a bit expensive, it's a great activity to do at least once in edinburgh. The Frankenstein movie is running non-stop, and there are cool animations :)

Fun vibed place, but also very annoyed their kitchen was closed at 7pm when they advertise it's open until 9. Waste of time for my party since we sat down and figured out what we wanted to order just to be told it wasn't available. Why leave menus on the table then?

✨️Stopped here for a couple of cocktails as recommended on social media however wasn't overally impressed. I had a blood red martini and to be honest it just tasted like cherryade.. my friend was supposed to have an eyeball in her glass shot alongside her drink but before she could ask the guy at the bar he had moved off to serve a large group and was the only one serving. Maybe we came at the wrong time in the early evening, but the vibes weren't there, unfortunately for us

Really cool bar! Some friends and I sat upstairs and had a fishbowl and got to see Frankenstein come to life! Then we spent some time downstairs and enjoyed the karaoke!

This bar was so beautifully creepy! It’s built inside an old chapel. There are booths and tables to sit at. They host different events on different days of the week. They even offer a Frankenstein Pilsner. There are photo ops such as a giant Frankenstein and bride. Check it out!

Popped in with my kids during the day to show them the bar. The staff were great, happy to put som eye ball sweets in their Apple juices and made an effort to chat with them at the bar whilst making drinks. The atmosphere is good. Funky Halloween vibes. Highly recommend.

A quirky cocktail bar with three floors. The bar is situated on the ground floor and seating on the mezenae. Lots of decor to keep you looking around with a surprise worth waiting around for, along with a fab atmosphere.

Quiet at weekdays but highlight of the night was the frankenstein show that happens every hour. Worth going just for that. Music doesn't do the place justice with pop hits and ruins the theme. Food overpriced and not very nice.

This place is good but the DJ is bad. Waited two hours for a song for karaoke night. This bar doesn’t care if you have been here for hours, would not recommend. DJ was clearly an angry old man that needs to find something to do with his time and the bar staff need to communicate with customers more. Bad customer experience overall which tainted the night, bar staff were really good but not coming back here. Recommendation for all, if you want karaoke you need to chase it!

I didn't have food, but I ordered a beer and couple of t- shirts. Overall a fun, Frankenstein vibe with rock music and a top of the hour smoke show and robotic Frankenstein platform.

Movie fans and intrigued by the storefront and the giant statue of Frankie at the entrance, we went in for a beer. The bar is absolutely superb, decorated from top to bottom in the image of Mary Shelley's monster. Total atmosphere and animation from above, with the monster waking up, smoke, music and light shows. Great but I don't know how often, we stayed there for about 40 minutes. Surely even more appreciated if you are upstairs, you should have known, unfortunately we were on the ground floor. Too bad. Obligatory stop if you pass by.

Great place to visit, went on a Thursday, not too busy. I can imagine the weekends being very busy. Recommend the loaded fries & chicken wings.

We visited Frankenstein with my partner around 3pm on a Wednesday, and the place was super quiet. Even with hardly anyone there, it still had this cool, imposing vibe thanks to all the Dr. Frankenstein-themed memorabilia and décor. The whole pub is decked out in a way that totally fits the spooky story, which gives it loads of character and atmosphere. When you walk in, the eight-foot tall Frankenstein's monster greets you and you immediately get to choose between heading up to the mezzanine or sticking to the first floor. We decided to check out the mezzanine first, just out of curiosity. It was basically empty except for a few people—probably regulars—hanging out at the front. It was nice enough but felt a bit too quiet for us what with the upstairs bar not being in use, so we headed back downstairs. We found a cozy little corner on the ground floor and grabbed a food menu. Honestly, we were surprised by how much choice there was! They’ve got a decent variety of food and a ton of drinks, which is always a bonus. I can imagine this place absolutely buzzing with uni students in the evenings—it’s got that vibe of a spot that would get really lively after dark. Overall, it’s a pretty cool pub to chill in, especially during the day if you want a quiet spot. The theming and décor are on point, the menu has plenty of options, and it’s got a nice mix of cozy and quirky. Be sure to stay a little bit longer for the revealing of the monster that occasionally happens! Definitely worth checking out, whether you’re after a laid-back afternoon or a fun night out!

Been there due to a friend's recommendation (they know I love horror and creepy things), and they were right! I should say first that the staff is amazing, they're super friendly and helpful. The drinks are delicious, and so is the food. Food is simple pub food but still very good. The drinks? Delicious works of art with very entertaining names. The Ambiente is of course very Frankenstein with lots of art, figurines and lights etc. They also play good music (oftentimes Rock, Metal or Goth alligned). I had a fun time visiting when I was in Edinburgh and would absolutely go again the next time I'm nearby

We only stayed for a round... the rugby was on, and the atmosphere was buzzing, so can't give top marks but really enjoyed being there.

Instead of going there for a quick drink like I planned, I had the most amazing and fun time there! Great venue with a great selection of drinks and the vibes at the karaoke bar were fantastic! Highly recommend! You got a new fan from Germany!

Nice place to visit at nigth. Good performance when dance time arrives. Excellent ambience full of crazy people ready to party. Heard that the place has changed but when I lived in the city was the place to go with friends. Good memories and still hearing the music....

We went with a German Travel Group to pop into Frankensteins Pub and it was sooo amazing for them. We loved the Monstershow, the Atmosphere as well as the staff was just amazing and we cant wait to visit again!

Did not try food while we were here. Wanted to stop in to check out such a unique place. The theme of the bar is really cool, we were also here on Halloween so that just added to it. The drinks were very good and fit in very well with the theme of the bar as well. Definitely worth checking out!!

Larger tated like lines are not cleaned and food is terrible very thin hard pizza and little selection of pizza (lots of fruit flies)

Very interesting place! Reconverted church, with a Frankenstein theme. They have live music sometimes, and the decoration is quite cool. Prices are average for the area.

When I arrived with my wife I was greeted by the bar staff and made to feel welcome. The tables where clean and tidy and didn't wait too long for the food. The food was great. Will definitely be back

Hardly horror, and a 20 round in a plastic cup is atrocious.

We went for a drink and the place is good set. As soon as you enter, upstairs you have Frankenstein's bar and downstairs you have karaoke. Very good drinks. To put something bad, I would tell you that they have few brands of whiskey, they would lack, for example, a Macallan 12 or 18

Not a horror bar literally a normal below average pub with overpriced drinks. Two normal drinks were £20 in plastic cups. Guinness in a plastic cup at 6.30pm. Don’t come here

Cool bar and the Frankenstein theme is awesome but the food was below par, ordered pizza, truffle fries ans garlic bread and it was barely warm when it arrived, we were upstairs and starving so we just soldiered through instead of complaining. The chips were decent, but the pizza must have been sittinf in the kitchen for a while before they brought it up, it was tough, not hot and just didnt taste fresh, poor quality ingredients too. I'd come back for a drink but i'd probably stay clear of the food, just very little effort went into it all
