I come here regularly the staff are so friendly and welcoming here! I love this pub, a great selection of wines, soft drinks and food.

I must say, the food here is absolutely brilliant. I had the mixed grill today and upgraded for a bigger steak. I asked for rare cooked steak and it came out exactly how I wanted it. I was actually really impressed at the size of the mixed grill, so much food and it was all fresh. It was so tasty. My wife had the rib of beef and that looked amazing. She said it fell off the bone. I tried some too and it definitely was a lovely dish. The beef dripping was so tasty. Our daughter had the kids meal and she really enjoyed that too. It was nice and quiet today, lots of available seats and a very calm atmosphere. Looks like this will now be our local go to for those lovely afternoon lunches. Our waitress was Anna and she knew everything about the menu there was to know. The food Anna recommended was what we chose and it was a brilliant recommendation. 10 out of 10 for the food and 10 out of 10 for the service by Anna. Highly recommended.

Always excellent food, service, ambience and value at The Gryphon. Sunday Lunch yesterday delicious. A big thank you to all the staff and especially to Hannah, who went out of her way to make sure our meal out was such a pleasure, finding us a quiet table and serving us with a big smile and her usual efficiency.

We visited the Gryphon for lunch and ordered sirloin steak and mixed grill. Both dishes were fresh, well cooked and plentiful. The service was excellent. Food ordered arrived quickly and staff were very pleasant.

If you liked the old style furniture and decoration of this quieter family harvester then you may not be so happy with the new modern (MacDonald's??)style seating But don't worry there's still a few wobbly tables left !!Happily the menu hasn't changed But nor has the rather annoying habit of bringing the main course before you've finished your first course from salad barAll in all its still a good choice for a meal outEnjoy

The refurbishment has done wonders for the interior it is bright, light and welcoming. Lovely range of breakfast options from traditional to luxury to suit all the family. Fabulously friendly waiting staff nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back aoon

Visitamos con amigos más de 3 veces y cada vez el servicio de atención al cliente es una vergüenza y así es la comida. Basura que incluso procesados sosa un perro no come, estoy seguro. Pidieron a mi mesa hoy porque sólo pedimos un postre y no comida, pero Jack no creo que el camarero nos encontrará en una mesa en el bar antes de mudarnos, así que mis amigos y yo nos queda alrededor de un bar animado con nuestras bebidas y ningún sitio donde sentarse. Yo estaba indignado. Jack era grosero, arrogante y poseían poco habilidades sociales. El director no era mejor. Servicio Horrible establecimiento mala mala comida y un mal ambiente y el personal desagradable cada vez. No pierdas tu tiempo. Espero que apagará el re-innovación fue una completa pérdidade dinero.

Mi esposa y yo asistimos El Gryphon Harvester el otro día y estuvimos muy impresionados con la renovación de este "Harvester" antes estaba oscura y poco atractiva, pero ahora todo el lugar es más ligero y más brillante que antes.

Nuestra primera visita, ya que ha sido reformado recientemente, tiene un aspecto mucho más moderno y espacioso. También los pasos en la parte trasera del restaurante han sido sacadas. Ha cambiado la ensalada con nuevas adiciones como aceitunas, pepinillos y silverskin onions, así como el típico. Nuestra comida principal era el mismo, como de costumbre, aunque tuve salmón que estaba muy bien con una amplia de pimiento rojo y arroz. Puedes más de salsa en ollas cerca del bar de ensaladas si quieres. La única queja fue que el papel ligero fue servido en rompe como yo estaba comiendo, que no era agradable. Nuestros postres eran buenas, tuve tarta de lima, que de nuevo estaba bien presentado. Nuestra camarera Aimee era muy servicial y educado, y era tan agradable para los niños. Volveré pronto.

La semana pasada nuestra hija cenamos en la calle Harvester y Southbury ella era muy impresionados por la calidad de la comida y el servicio. Así que el domingo nos pensamos que estamos ir a la cosechadora en Grange Park. Había 12 de nosotros. La mayoría de los pedidos eran equivocados, demasiado pequeño, o mal cocinada.

A diferencia de algunos restaurantes harvester el bar de ensaladas era limpio y totalmente repuesto. Mi comida cuando llega sólo era templada en lugar de caliente, pero como había esperado tanto no enviarlo.

Service was slow. Long time waiting for drinks(only wanted glasses for refills). My wifes dinner was cold and had to be sent back. Seems to have gone downhill. We don't think we will be going back again after being regular customers.

Fuimos para una comida familiar el sábado por la noche, fuimos allí cada fin de semana y volvimos por primera vez en mucho tiempo. Absolutamente terrible, el servicio era lento, la comida estaba asquerosa, personal estaban comiendo en la barra de ensaladas y los chefs ropa estaban sucias y salieron recoger sus caras. No volveremos aquí!!

Este lugar solía ser una apuesta segura para decente, buena relación calidad-precio comida pero estoy de acuerdo con algunas de las otras críticas, el sitio ha ido cuesta abajo. Fuimos el jueves y el servicio era lento, la comida incomible y se quedaron sin cerveza. Nosotros pedimos las costillas deshuesadas costillas jamaicanas que se suponía que iban a ser lento cocinado. Another place I have visited regularly but not reviewed! Very nice place and accommodating staff particularly for young children. Food is always good and fresh and hot with a large selection to choose from

Three of us went for a meal after work and front of house quickly met us and took us to a table (we had not booked). We were plonked on a table too big for us, while smaller tables were available they had not been cleared and cleaned (and were not cleaned for over an hour). The menu had a decent selection of meaty dishes at a reasonable price but after ordering we waiting a long time for the food to be delivered. We could see the kitchen at all three dishes were ready but left on the side and not brought to the table for around 20 minutes, so this was the fault of the waiting staff rather than the kitchen.The food was therefore delivered lukewarm and had to be sent back and got a blast in the microwave so was not terribly tasty. The whole experience was very mediocre, only livened up by good company. I'd not been to Harvester in over ten years and it'll probably be a similar time before I return.

I recently went to the harvester and I am very disappointed with their new menu. As I am a vegetarian I could only pick 3 options and I feel that harvester do not cater well for vegetarians. I prefer the old menu because they're was more variety. I also feel that the customer service has gone down a lot

Booked a table of 14 by phone when we got there was told we couldn't sit next to each otherWaited 45 minutes to order a drink and one hour before food order taken,Staff very unhelpful and clearly understaffed and over worked, could not cope with Sunday rush.Salad cart was a disgrace and messy, constantly having to ask for items.When main course arrived the chicken was still pink in the middle and when we complained to the manager he stood and argued with us and was very unprofessional No reduction for undercooked and dangerously raw chicken

This place was unbelievably bad. The only positive was the Old Speckled Hen beer. The beef ribs were chewy, served cold and dry, the chicken was over cooked and dry, the burgers were tasteless and dry. They had run out of chilli, they had run out of the wine we ordered, they had run out of ice cream. The salad bar looked like a kid had been playing with it.Avoid this place

On entry, left standing around waiting for anybody to say Hi, with you in a minute then a surly young man plonked us on the worst table in the place, we moved. The place was not at all busy. Waitress did her very best despite the very poorly cooked food. Gammon and chips was served as in a greasy spoon cafe. Wanted a desert but one course had taken over 1 hour so went without. Have happily used it regularly in the past but won't again until they get in management who raise the standards to what they were with old management.

Went there on Christmas Eve. Had a relaxing drink at the bar while we waited for a table. We didn't have to wait long. The staff are very friendly and cheerful. This is our local Harvester and we visit every couple of months or so. The food is ok. Not the best pub food I've had but I would say it's one of the better Harvesters I've been to.

It's a Harvester, so standard cheap food for a night when you just can't be bothered to cook. Compared to some other Harvesters it is getting tired now, and could do with a proper refit. Some waiting staff are excellent, others seem to struggle.

Whenever we have visitors at a weekend we book at the Gryphon Harvester. Always very welcoming and the food is always reliable. I do really enjoy the salad bar, the only trouble is I need to watch how much salad I have otherwise there is no room for the delicious deserts they have on the menu. It is well worth saving some room for one of these deserts even if you share one.

We had a party of 6 including 2 little ones. The food arrived with no presentation skills at all. The original combo was tiny...hardly any chips at all, the mixed grill had been sitting under the lamps for a while and was dry and tasteless, the 'I want it all' had sweet potato fries which were dripping in grease...just awful. Lettuce on the slad cart was mostly brown, the onion is now swimming in water (!) and the potato salad mayonaisse dressing was odd to say the least.The kids meals were sausage chips and peas and I wish I'd had that. It was the only thing that looked hot and remotely appetising. We have used this place for years but after a few duff visits now, we won't be back. Sad as it had such happy memories of family celebrations there. The waiter was lovely though...best thing about the visit although getting the bill at the end was a real mission as he had too many other guests vying for his attention.

Visited this harvester today for a birthday treat and it really was a treat .The food was hot tasty and great value for money.

I went to this particular harvester this evening and was once again shocked by the uncooked fish and chips that was served up to me, it was still like jelly under the batter. The food took 30 mins to arrive, the drinks took just as long. They did replace the fish and chips but since I had already been there an hour and had such awful service I was no longer hungry. This has happened before as well. I have also previously ordered Irish coffee and returned it due to this harvester not using cream but a dairy substitute. Also ordered the profiteroles previously and those are also not filled with cream, it's a cream substitute. My husbands food was also not great, looked rather bland and unappetising for the 3rd time, since we have given this place a try now for the third time.

Had been to Gryphon Harvester for several years and the quality and food used to be reasonable and deteriorated recently. During the last visit we were served with undercooked pork ribs and when we raised the issue with the waitress concerned the reply from her was 'I cannot taste the food each time I serve, we only heat the food and serve as it comes pre-cooked, packed and delivered'. Do all Harvester outlets serve pre-cooked and delivered foods? We will not be going to any of them now.

Waiting over 1 and a half hours to be seated, another 20 to take our orders and so on! Waste of time, waste of money! I shall not be going back.

This harvester used to be very good but has really gone downhill! The food was not very nice (the boneless beef with jerk sauce was quite unpleasant) lots of things missing from various plates (sauce, coleslaw etc) we couldn't bring this to anyone's attention as the service was so bad! I eventually flagged down a waitress just to get the bill and leave! Even that was hard work. #notgoingback!

Been to this Harvester several times and generally pleased. Went with family yesterday and there were 8 of us. Our waitress knew my sister-in-law so maybe that was an advantage. Good salad bar which was clean and well stocked. Unfortunately our meals arrived so promptly that we had hardly started eating our salad. Two people chose gammon but sadly it had to be sent back to the kitchen due to being very undercooked. I chose their Signature fish & chips which was enjoyable except for the egg cup sized portion of dry mushy peas. All the chips are cooked in some kind of herb coating which we found very salty.Overall a pleasant meal for the cost and a good Harvester compared to the one at Stevenage which I would advise to avoid. Service was friendly and attentive.

I have just left the gryphon harvester after yet another disappointing visit! The last 5 times we have been has been shocking and is quite clear that it has gone down hill! Meals have either things missing from it or if you have anything from the grill you're lucky if you get it hot with everything it is meant to have! On times we have come here we usually order mixed grill or a combo platter for one and ribs.. In the past these dishes have always been really tasty and we'll presented, I would say for the past few months we have seen it go massively down hill, tasteless food, cold, sloppy presentation and with every meal something is ALWAYS missing from it.. In past visits we've had mixed grills with no tomato, no peas, no chicken , no sausage and more recently RAW gammon which we had to send back to be cooked and by the time it did I had finished my meal whilst my partner was still waiting for his to return!! After leaving this time the mixed grill had no gravy and the meal was horrendous! If you threw the measley excuse of a steak at the ground I'm certain it would have dented the floor!! Unedible cremated scrap of "steak" when I asked the waitress to come check our meal after no check back the manager also followed , (just need to state, this is not the usual manager that we have seen on our visits, the waitress had told us that the other manager was on holiday..) I continued to explain our complaint about the mixed grill and why there was a tiny scrap of chicken and a worthless piece of steak on the plate and why there was no gravy when it stated on the menu that it came with it ! To be told by the manager to basically be quiet!! he was trying to feed us a poor excuse as to why this rubbish was served to us then offered to get another chicken breast when it came back it look tasty and far better then the other excuse of a chicken breast that was first put on there, the manager didn't hesitate to pitch that the original chicken that came out originally was in fact the correct size and that the steak was done by weight!! I've posted a picture so you can see the size of this "steak" I couldn't believe it!! After all the mixed grills we have had here in the past and actually having a whole chicken breast to then have half of a chicken then halved again is shocking!! It's priced at £12.99!! Disgraceful ! If that is indeed your spec for that meal you need to inform people!! I never would get on trip advisor to write such a bad review but after experiencing such high standards in years before to now this, I feel I had to say something. Chefs ALL need to be replaced and management need to change their attitude!! my partner and I have now decided we will not be coming here again... so disappointing as I travel from Hertfordshire to come to this harvester.

Went with my collegues for lunch and waited for 30 minutes for order only to find out they forget my order. Reminded them and 10 minutes more they came back to me to find out what was my order. Another 10 minutes and I run out of my patience. Took refund and left hungry to grab sandwich. Very dissatisfied. Btw my order was super complicTed fish n chips

We travelled from Hertfordshire to this restaurant which is the best in the region. I have eaten here many times before as I used to live locally but have now moved to Hertfordshire. The restaurant is clean and tidy. The toilets are well maintained. We arrived at around 4pm and waited only a few minutes to be seated. We opted for a window seat and the manager pulled the blinds to shade the glaring sun. We ordered the chicken wings and potato skins as a starter. Initially, the wrong starters arrived. Our starters were flavoured, hot and overall tasty. The main dinner arrived cold. The chicken and chips were cold and the prawns arrived complete with shells rather than prepared. I sent the cold dinner back and asked for a new fresh one. A few minutes later the same dinner returned but heated up. I returned it again and repeated my request for a fresh one. The freshly cooked meal finally arrived with an apology but it should be standard that meals returned aren't sent back microwaved. My boyfriend ordered a medium steak but it arrived medium rare which was disappointing. The salad bar was great with a wide selection and the area kept clean and monitored regularly. The desserts were nice but nothing special. Overall, this place used to be the nuts but has now gone downhill. I had been looking forward to this dinner all week but it was a let down. There was a special £5 off a £25 meal which made the meal value for money but the quality of the meal was lacking. There is no attention to detail here.

This harvester is brilliant in so many ways , you are bound to have great time. I have eaten at all type of places in London and this place is amazing. My experience of london restaurants in general is that they are are so focused on the money that they care little about the taste , visual side of the presentation and when there is a problem they are often so arrogant.This is the diamond in the rough and would get a 9.7 out of 10 - I feel that may even be to low but on the basis of all humans are imperfect I think this is fair!

This Harvester is tucked away from the main stream but outshines the others of this type.The salad bar was clean and fresh and well maintained, the staff were courteous and helpful.There is a bar at the side of the restaurant , this can be a meeting place for guests so that you can all go in together.They have there own car park but there are restrictions outside during the day, in the evening there is no problem with parking outside.

Been here several times with my family and love it. Staff have always been nice and a nice atmosphere. It's often packed out which is a good sign! The salad bar is well maintained and fresh, and never had a problem with the food. Will remain a continued customer!

Last week my Father took myself two other adults and two boys ages 6 and 9 for a Sunday lunch at the Harvester. I am keen on both budget and mid range eating am reviewing this venue with similar priced venues I have visited in mind. Firstly the welcome: That was fine. My Step mum who is a regular was recognised greeted and we were quickly taken to a table.The decor is smart and modern in a kind of barn style , the chairs were a little uncomfortable which several of us noted. The toilets were dated and scruffy but OK , certainly more pub than restaurant.My first criticism is that the tables were far too close together , I felt hemmed in and cramped and also it was far louder than I would have liked. On the plus side it is nicely decorated in a 'barn style' and was clean.Food arrived in reasonable time , two in the party had the 'deluxe fish and chips ' and though i didnt , it looked very nice. They were both happy with it. I ordered a Chicken platter to share with my eleven year old. the menu said on your own or to share for two. It was absolutely massive !. However all the chicken on it tasted exactly the same apart from the breaded chicken which was very nice. The other chicken was all very plain and rather tasteless. I also thought the menu was quite The platter was £20 between two of us , I'd have rather seen a bit more taste rather than tons of tasteless chicken. My youngest had a huge beefburger meal. I ate a piece and to be honest the burger was also quite devoid of taste ( at £9 I'd expect a better burger meal as per my Weatherspoon's review). The deserts ranged from Ice cream Sundaes to my 'Fudge Brownie pile' and you couldn't fault them , they were about £4.50 each.The bill for 4 adults and two children with one adult drinking a couple of glasses of wine was £100.Overall, I personally wouldn't choose to go there for the following reasons. Too cramped for me , too noisy for me and very average food that's cheaper at Weatherspoon's and tastier. I'm not saying it was a bad experience but it wasn't exactly overwhelming either.Regards Mas

As part of the Harvester chain this won't be the place to come for your wedding anniversary but it does provide a consistent service and reasonably priced quality food. The menu is large enough to please everyone and caters for childrens' portions. Situated in a former pub with just one small bar retained for drinks, this is your typical local family restaurant.The value is excellent with a salad bar always available for unlimited visits and numerous special offers to keep the cost down.WIFI is provided and gives you the opportunity to register with Harvester and from time to time extra special offers will be emailed to you.I ate there on this occasion but I have also tried their takeaway service which at £10 for two meals from a slightly reduced menu is cheaper than fish and chips or the local Chinese. They have also just started an eat all you can brunch menu!You really can't go wrong eating here and I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

I visited with family in September 2014 for Sunday lunch.The restaurant is noisy due to a large number of tables, lots of children and a kitchen serving area that fronts directly into the restaurant.The food is average Harvester fare. They can't cook a steak properly so best to choose something they can't ruin. The food is fairly cheap and the service is friendly if a little rough around the edges.

If you want excellent value for money and good food this is a good choice. The food is always good, nothing spectacular but you don't expect it in this type of restaurant. The choice is very good and if you want you can sit there allday drinking soft drinks for free.

Probably visit the Gryphon approx 3 times a year. It simply offers unrivalled value for money. Had lunch there today with my wife. The salad bar was well stocked & fresh looking. Both our mains / desserts were of good portion size & tasty. Our waiter was friendly & several times checked if everything was ok. The only criticism would be, that our table took a while to be cleared. Without any doubt, the best harvester in the area.

Have visited this restaurant lots of times over many years. The food is always excellent, the salad bar well stocked and tidy and the staff friendly and helpful. There is always a lot of diners which shows how popular this eatery is. Excellent value for money and we'll worth a visit.

Not only great value for money, but good quality pub food and extremely cheerful service make this an excellent venue for a drink and a meal. Its not a Michelin Star restaurant but you will leave very satisfied

We have visited the Gryphon fairly often and generally enjoy the experience. It was very busy for a Wednesday lunch time but the salad bar was well stocked and looked fresh. Our meal was served suprisingly quickly considering how full the place was. The waiters and waitresses were very efficient and polite. Will be coming back as much prefer this one to our nearer Harvester in the Southbury Leisure Centre.

We are local people and have visited the Gryphon with friends on a fairly regular basis but will give it a miss for a good while now owing to the past three visits being extremely disappointing food wise. Warm chips, warm burger with a very cold slab of cheese placed on top. Fish that had seen better days and presentation non existent. What a shame because the waiting staff are so friendly and helpful, however, the service is very slow.

We went with friends after a day at Alexandra Palace and whilst the food was ok and it was quiet so no wait for a table, I felt that it was too quiet and they'd annoyingly yet sensibly only put out meagre salad which wasn't particularly great. Service was friendly and pleasant and main meals were good. Wouldn't rush back specifically but when in the area, would be a definite consideration.

Visited on a Saturday evening so was busy but service was fantastic. Prices are great value for money especially when taking kids. Food was great. Have paid much more in other restaurants for much less. Lovely busy family atmosphere.

I have visited the Gryphon a number of times over the years. I'm not exactly a regular customer, but may go once every few months or so. It used to provide decent food with prompt service. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. My hubby and I have returned a few times (in case the first 'fail' was a one off) but on each recent visit, the food and service have been below par. Getting the food takes an awfully long time now and when it arrives the veg nearly always seem to be over cooked and the meat or fish dry and unappetising. This would maybe be acceptable if it was a local greasy spoon but the prices here warrant better than they are now serving up. In fact, the lamb chops I've had in my local cafe have been superior.It's a shame because this used to be a place that served decent pub fare but is now decidedly mediocre.

Located in a pleasant residential road with plenty of onsite and street parking. The restaurant itself is located in an attractive large house type pub with an outside beer garden, particularly welcome in fine weather. Inside, the bar where you can wait to be seated, is light and airy with comfortable seating. The dining area is fairly extensive but arranged to give you a degree of privacy. The area is clean and well maintained. We were seated straight away but as you cannot book I suspect they can get get very busy, and you may have to wait in the bar. The staff are efficient, friendly and attentive. The food itself is typical of the type you get at a chain restaurant. The salad bar was good and was regularly refreshed while we were there. The main course's were fairly average but in fairness you are not paying the earth. I don't know if the food is prepared earlier and reheated when required but it did taste as if this was the case. The sweets were large and tasty. Overall we had an enjoyable evening and this is a good place for a family meal at a reasonable price.

It was my step-mother’s birthday and father took six of us to the Gryphon. It was a lot quieter than our other Sunday lunch visits – but less busy seemed to result in less care in the kitchen. First we exchanged two dirty knives with cleaner ones from adjacent table, then we ordered our meals. We discarded one slightly dirty dish from the pile at the salad bar to find and even dirtier one underneath. When our meals came the chips were just warm, the peas and the sweet corn must have been sitting in warm water for too long and had lost all flavour. We called the waitress who apologised and cheerfully fetched us freshly cooked hot chips. To be fair – the meat / seafood part of the meal for each of us was fine. “Why do we come here?”, I thought as I rolled my eye upwards – only to spot – cobwebs above us! Oh dear no!

We dined at this very busy harvester restaurant/pub last sunday and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Although it was really really busy we were called to a table within about 15 minutes of arriving. We enjoyed drinks in the well decorated and well furnished pub whilst waiting for a table. After giving the food order to the waitress we enjoyed a mixed salad from the self service salad bar and I was impressed by the variety on offer plus brown and white bread rolls and butter or margarine as well as a good variety of salad dressings.The main course meals were excellent and the service was very good. Overall it was good value for money.

We've been to the Gryphon in Grange Park several times - it's the nearest eating place to where my father lives. He's ninety-something but still mobile and active. We go there for Sunday lunch - as do many other families locally. It's a standard Harvester - order your main course, then head for the salad bar. The salad dressings and toppings are good, but the salad itself is not the best quality - cheap and only just cheerful.The main courses are pretty good value and can be pretty good quality - though the Sunday lunchtime popularity means that they are occasionally served under cooked, over cooked and/or lukewarm. This happened at our most recent visit.You can't book a table, so it's pot-luck how long you wait to be seated and where you sit. This time we ended up surrounded by noisy families and all my dad's hearing-aid could pick up (and amplify) was kids from nearby tables. He was almost crying at one point. If we go back, we'll insist on waiting for a table in a corner so at least we can hold a conversation.
