The Grind Cafe in Sheffield

Fantastic breakfast, we had the vegan breakfast and the breakfast burrito. Portions very good and quality of food incredible. The coffee was also delicious!

We ordered a hot drinks (flat white and cappuccino) they were delicious and we tried a strawberry cheesecake and it was amazing. Regarding the time we went there about lunchtime it was busy but after that it was cozy and quiet.

Este es un café muy bueno que sirve comida por las mañanas (hasta las 3 pm según el menú) y tiene algunos buenos almuerzos para llevar también. El café también es mejor que la media. El café es accesible en silla de ruedas y no tuvimos problemas en ese frente, por mi experiencia el personal es mejor que la media en acomodar a los usuarios de sillas de ruedas.

Pedí el brownie de chocolate y una naranja gaseosa. El brownie de chocolate era horrible, duro y sin sabor a chocolate. La mitad izquierda. Realmente desearía haberlo devuelto y pedido un reembolso. No sé si no estaba fresco como era un domingo o si es porque los postres se sientan abiertos en el mostrador. Sin interacción del personal, sin comprobar si todo estaba bien. 3 miembros del personal y solo 4 mesas con los clientes, pero sentía que no querían estar abiertos. Ni de lejos tan bueno como la rama de la isla Kelham a pesar de tener el mismo nombre.

Dropped in for a drink, took a long time to get them and both were practically cold

Spend over £10 on a coffee and sausage roll to takeaway. Opened the box for the sausage roll 10 minutes later and it was sopping wet because they’d put a salad in it that I hadn’t asked for. Coffee was fine.

Cozy place with a nice atmosphere and good food. Had Lamb Tagine and it was delicious

Rara vez dejo reseñas, pero esto justifica una. Visité un domingo por la mañana con mi pareja y pedimos café, una coca de dieta y 2 BLT. El café llegó rápido, la coca dietética no y después de 30 minutos logramos que una camarera nos diera una coca dietética. El lugar es un desastre, vi salir de la cocina 10 - 15 comidas, solo para no saber para quién eran o a dónde iban. No había mesas numeradas, así que la pobre camarera iba y venía corriendo. Había un miembro del personal que acababa de reabastecerse continuamente (la ya muy llena) nevera cuando el lugar estaba invadido. Nuestra comida, después de que nos quejáramos de la espera de unos 50 minutos, salió y realmente me gustaría que no lo hiciera. El pan estaba empapado en agua/aceite y el tocino estaba crudo. El “gerente” que creo que es italiano se puso muy furioso cuando nos quejamos. Claramente habían frito un poco de tocino en un intento de ser rápido cuando nos quejamos. Realmente la peor experiencia que he tenido para un brunch.

A lot to say here about The Grind. First, the positives: Staff were great Fun little trendy cafe Nice home made beans But the negatives: Sticky tables (ick) Really grubby menus (just noooo) Broken teapot (come on, guys, REALLY?) Quite a bad smell of bleach when we arrived Tea brand was really meh Took almost 50 minutes for food to come (the restaurant only had two other customers in it when we arrived). The food. Oh the food. The breakfast looked great, but it was all a bit tasteless. The potatoes were undercooked. Generally. For the price I had expected a whole lot better. Can't deny I was disappointed with it all. I give The Grind a very generous 3 stars (and, sadly, zero noms).

Terrible experiencia. Mesas sin despejar y tuve que solicitar que la que me senté fuera más clara a pesar de que voluntariamente hacían esto por la gente que llegaba después de mí. Pedí huevos revueltos en tostadas y pagué por tocino extra. Cuando llegó huevos en solo una de las dos rebanadas de pan tostado y una porción muy pequeña por lo que no es realista repartir entre dos. Subí y pregunté por la cantidad y me dijeron que solo eran dos huevos pero que me conseguirían más por la otra rodaja. Empecé a comer sobre esa base antes de que me dijeran que ahora no proporcionarían más huevo a menos que pagara extra por la segunda tostada. Solicité dejar mi comida (£ 9. 45) y se me reembolsara ya que solo había tenido un bocado sobre la base de que estaban proporcionando los huevos. Le dije que no y que no podía hablar con un gerente. Mientras continúo expresando mi decepción con el servicio, la cantidad y que me habían dicho una cosa antes de que hicieran otra cosa acordaron proporcionar huevos revueltos para el segundo trozo de tostada. Sin embargo, cuando salieron ambos olían y sabían raro como si estuvieran apagados. Estoy embarazada de 7 meses y de ninguna manera deberían haber estado arriesgándose a servirme huevos podridos, ya sea que estuvieran descontentos conmigo cuestionando sus porciones o no. ¡Experiencia repugnante en todo!

Lovely cafe with a cosy atmosphere. We arrived late morning for coffee and cakes, however most of the other diners were enjoying a late breakfast, which looked really good and definitely worth sampling on another visit. There was a very good hot drinks menu and a great selection of cakes. We chose millionaires shortbread, chocolate brownie and apple cake and all were declared delicious. Staff were friendly and welcoming and there was a nice atmosphere. We were lucky and managed to get a table straight away at 11am on a Sunday morning but it was very popular and full the whole time we were there. Will definitely visit again.

Tenía las tortitas omg el tamaño de la porción era demasiado grande tal vez deberían ofrecer media porción. Y mi marido tiene huevos turcos. Ambos platos eran tan bueno como el café. La comida en exhibición se veía increíble todo Mediterránea y muy fresca de aspecto saludable. No somos locales. A great place for brunch. I had a vegan full English which was huge! As well as a breakfast burrito which was very cheesy and the meat was cooked perfectly. A great chai latte and cute spot.

One of the best breaky I’ve had. Latte was banging. Definitely have to come here if your in Sheffield.

A great place for a coffee or brunch, settled within the industrial area of Kelham Island. Peaceful area The food is great. The menu indicates classics and usual brunch plates, but they add a twist. Try the fry up, very original Good service and a nice way to spend an hour in the morning

I’d have been really surprised to have found somewhere as pleasant as this in the groovier parts of London. All that good stuff without the hipster nonsense. They might be London prices too, but you get twice the amount for your money. I can’t imagine I won’t be back when next in these parts. 🫶🏻

Fui a almorzar con un amigo hoy en el Grind Café ya habíamos tomado un café temprano en la mañana allí. Al entrar en la cafetería recibimos una bienvenida amable. Un montón de comida saludable en el menú, tenía el cordero tagine que estaba delicioso, una buena porción y vale la pena el dinero. Mi amigo tiene una ensalada y una rodaja de verduras. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

Lovely little place, everything is freshly made in the spirit of rustic homemade food with modern fresh flavours. The cooking style reminded me a little of the old blue moon cafe near the cathedral (now gone), but unfortunately, the vegetarian options are a little scant. You can get a sandwich or a lunch, salads etc, but the choice is very limited. There is a choice of seating styles so hopefully something to suit most people. The entrance door is spring loaded so might be a slight obstacle for wheelchair users, but I suspect most are well practiced. I'm not sure about how easy it would be to navigate through the seating area, the closest is tall with bar stools and unsuitable for anyone in a wheelchair. I tried to use the toilet, but it was locked. I knocked, but there was no answer so I don't knock whether you have to ask to use it. There was no engaged/vacant indicator. Most people will really enjoy visiting the Grind, but if you have specific requirements then please check they can be met before committing.

Pasamos por la sucursal de Kelham Island para almorzar un domingo. Tomamos una mesa libre afuera bajo el sol y entramos a pedir. El servicio fue súper amable y rápido, nuestros dos platos eran deliciosos (mi amigo tenía tortitas que eran ENORMES) y opté por el BLT - traje mi propio bagel sin gluten como quería pan (había otras opciones de GF) y amablemente lo tostaron sin cruce - contaminación y añadió un montón de tocino, lechuga y tomate chutney : ) El café estaba caliente y delicioso. ¡Volveré!

I was so happy to find this cool enough place to buy two nice hot Americanos and two pieces of Grandma Apple Pie to take away for Sunday breakfast.

Great atmosphere and great food with lots of windows at this place. It’s a lovely café to go to specially on a sunny day good selection of food and breakfast. Warm and welcoming service and the food is served very quickly. It is very tasty and done perfect.

I've been here a few times over the past few years and I do like it but there are a few weird notes. Ironically for a place called the Grind, salt and pepper are pre-ground dust in shakers which is not lovely. The food is pretty good and a good selection but I ordered rostis today which were a little flabby, not at all cruspy and seemed like they were made with mashed rather than grated potato. The dish was tasty too and the side salad garnish not an afterthought

Lovely, friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. Good food and super coffee. The kiwi and lime cake was very nice and the quiche and salads looked good but we just met for a family breakfast. Would happily go again.

Food was lovely but unfortunately I was charged twice. The first time I asked for it not to be on a tab so I paid £30 upfront. Then after buying a cake I was charged on a tab for the meal and cake so I was charged £37.(Which I realised when I got home) It's been impossible to get in touch, phone number doesn't work, Facebook account has been ignoring me and no email to be found. I can't just pop round to the cafe as I don't live in Sheffield so I'm really very disappointed in the customer service. I would still recommend and will go back for the food just be careful when you pay here so you're not paying twice.

Best coffee we have had in the UK so far! For breakfast my partner and I ordered poached eggs on sourdough toast - the meal was delicious with a tasty salad garnishing and eggs sprinkled with dill and chives. I have been put off sourdough toast before as the crust can be tough when toasted, but this sourdough was perfectly done. We’re from New Zealand and find good coffee and brunch places hard to come by here, but this was top notch.

Me quedé parado junto al mostrador durante 5 minutos mientras 3 de ustedes estaban demasiado ocupados para reconocerme mientras esperaba (no esperaba que pararan, solo noten que estaba allí. Y yo estaba allí porque aunque habías dicho que te sentarías a la mesa no lo hiciste, esperé allí durante 10 minutos primero). Pedí mi café dos veces, luego me fui después de una hora y veinte minutos sin haberlo tomado. Realmente no estaba tan ocupado, la comida llegó rápidamente una vez pedido! La comida estaba bien, nada especial. Masa madre muy fina, salmón suave, aguacate mínimo. Probablemente no se moleste en ir de nuevo, lo que es una pena, ya que es un buen ambiente y me gustaría apoyar a los negocios locales (Broomhill).

The service was good - very quick and offered drinks/menus upon arrival. The interior was lovely and it seems like a nice spot within Kelham. However, the coffees were cold even though we were served them straight away. I don’t mind paying good money for good food but on this occasion it was not worth it. The full English was average, and yet again cold. The flavoured fried eggs (do not not recommend) were not what I thought they would be - could be my mistake. But nobody wants a pan of oil for their breakfast. We also tried the pancakes as the pictures online looked divine, however, these were also disappointing - the pictures do not reflect well on what is provided, and I wouldn’t order them again. Overall, a lovely place but wouldn’t visit again or recommend. The pictures do look lovely but not worth £40 and leaving disappointed.

The coffee and cake were exceptional, truly delightful. However, the service left much to be desired. Despite being the only customers at the time, the staff were more interested in chatting among themselves. We had to approach the counter and wait for them to finish their conversation before they acknowledged us and took our order. Adding to the frustration, other customers who arrived later were promptly served at their tables. Improved attentiveness and customer service would enhance the overall experience.

Went out for a long lunch with former work colleagues and bumped into 3 x SWFC footballers and as a fan that really made my day. The food was great as was the friendly service and really nice atmosphere in the cafe.

Discovered this café by chance. Great service. Lovely setting near old Kelham and great coffee and cakes. If we are visiting Sheffield again we will definitely stop again. All the best!

Says they have vegan options but there were absolutely none when I went at lunchtime on a Thursday. There’s plenty of other cafes in the nearby area that cater to everyone.

Wife and I were in the area and popped into the place by chance. We had a delicious couple of sandwiches which were great. The rest of the menu, cakes etc. all looked fantastic, fresh and of very high quality! Will definitely go back to sample what else the place has to offer. Thanks so much :)

Fantastic atmosphere, we didn't want to leave. The food was amazing nearly all of it looks home made. The staff are very friendly. The look of the place and the music is superb. Wouldn't hesitate to come again!

Had a lovely cup of tea in this cafe in a smart area of Sheffield. The only problem was parking. After 15-20 minutes driving round, I finally found a spot about 10 minutes walk away from the cafe.

5 stars for the doggy service area

Review of Broomhill branch. Positives. Friendly staff. Efficient service. Nice atmosphere. Great coffee. Had an all day breakfast and a Turkish scrambled egg dish. The breakfast had good home made baked beans and a couple of rashers of quality bacon. Fried egg was fine. The sausages were insipid looking ( was worried they weren’t cooked but were hot ) the mushrooms were dry and the tomatoes tasted / looked like had been warmed by putting in a microwave or blanched in boiling water. Black pudding was tasteless. Sourdough toast was nice. The scrambled eggs weren’t the best - greasy and over cooked but tasty enough. Overall ok - but wouldn’t rush back for food and at price point (£12.95 and £9.95) expected better.

Is nice. The mixed salad is a nice change to other places, where you choose three. Limited/same old vegan options outside of it, a sausage butty or breakfast meal (though there's some nice looking menu items thay may be able to be made to suit diets) but for the price the salad beats them hands down and you can pick from a bunch of flavoursome stuff

Would have loved to have lunch here but the waiter gave away a free table of 2 that I had asked about him clearing to a party of 3 then suggested I sit in the chairs in the window. I was dining solo but the chairs were uncomfortable, couldn't sit facing my plate as there was no room, had to sit side saddle. No respect for solo customer, obviously wanted to seat a party even though I had asked about the free table first.

Came in this morning for brunch as we have been wanting to try it first off they helped us with a baby chair then took our order the food came very quickly we asked for a few specific things e.g no black pudding and it came with black pudding we set it aside and enjoyed our food which was amazing after eating our food we decided to order a cake to share the lady that was serving us brought out the wrong cake and looked at us as if it was our fault. Even though the food was amazing it was ridiculously expensive the price of a meal out for just pancakes and a full breakfast is crazy won't be going back.

The coffee is ok, the cakes aren’t the best though. It’s a cute enough cafe with all the trappings of a good instagram post, but that’s kind of it. Did feel a tad overpriced given what the service was like. Didn’t have any of the food, perhaps that’s better.

It was a really nice place for breakfast and lunch. Chai latte and americano good. Food: The Turkish eggs dish was amazing, highly recommended. Pancakes good too, but I wish I'd had the syrup separately to add the amount I wanted, but out of that it was perfect. Waitress and personel always kind and serving

We came for brunch and the food was very tasty. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming and the coffee was great. Slightly irrelevant point, but I absolutely loved the ceramics used for the coffee and food plates too. ❤️

Busy coffee and breakfast stop in Kelham Island. Staff very attentive, food decent, coffee could be better.

I’ve been here on different occasions and tried different things from the menu. First of all, the food is absolutely delightful. Every time we had food here we were amazed by the mixture of flavors the food has and how well they go with each other. Secondly, the service is very nice, patient and always helpful. Usually it seems busy especially during mornings when we barely found seats inside, which obviously shows the place is really good. Always a pleasure being here.

Great cafe with a lovely decor, view, plenty of seating (both outdoors and indoors), quiet corners and friendly staff. Unfortunately when I went, the kitchen was closed so I could only try their coffee and cakes. Had the cappuccino and marmalade pudding. Coffee was good but the pudding was a bit hard. Overall, a great place!

Went for lunch. Been here a few times but oh dear it’s dropped. Mac n Cheese showed no sign of any cheese at all.. just Mac.(yuk). No pepper on table, picked one up off another table… empty, next table, empty. Coffee didn’t turn up had to ask again.. wasn’t busy. Won’t be back👎

I loved the atmosphere here, it cozy and a good place to read a book or work on your laptop. They offer a student discount. Flat white is so good

Great café hidden away from Sheffield City Centre but close to two celebrated pubs. Toasted sourdough with scrambled eggs was excellent, eggs cooked to perfection. Seriously good coffee, in a different league to the High Street chains. Will definitely be returning.

The food here is always excellent. However, on a Sunday morning, if Grind doesn’t want customers who swear never to come again, it either has to manage the number of people it attempts to serve or sort out its service. I waited an hour and a half for breakfast, surrounded by angry people who were waiting for similar times. Time after time people were given the wrong dishes or things were missing (including mine) which caused a further backlog. Even getting a coffee was next to impossible. I was told there was a coffee ‘backlog’ but other would-be diners saw no-one near the coffee machine and no coffee was served to anybody for around 15 minutes of our wait. I’m not coming back on a Sunday (which will make things easier) until this is sorted out.
