Great atmosphere. Love the place.

Sadly need change my review again from 5 star to zero ( I can't) so for 1 star (((( after covid this pub is absolutely amazing ( Molly, and another girls is working there amazing and absolutely well) after girls go out pub still run,, alright,, apart stupid dog have more way than customers,, then getting better and better this year, going back to proper pub bar with great staff ( well done boys) but today 22 November....omg, staff stay outside, didn't care for customer come in, then come to serve someone who be in line after me..... then trying put new barrel of beer 4 times... don't work))))) and put me stay in bar like a idiot (((((( for approx 10 minutes.... without saying something....so, it's sadly to say, stay away if you can, or, hope you find proper staff. Good luck. Update... getting back to 5 stars cos owner do it great job and this little pub getting top of pubs in Ecclesale road. Friendly and very welcoming. So again, highly recommended.

Great little bar with good atmosphere, especially when busy.

I visited here with my wife and dog. We were met with a sarcastic comment “The dog can’t come in unless he’s buying a drink too”. 2 things; you just assumed my dogs gender and how can he buy a drink he doesn’t even work? Anyway, we reluctantly purchases 3 drinks. The melancholy vibe made us feel unwelcome, as if we’ve just crossed into enemy lines as double agents… Shortly after, we were verbally extracted for being “Seriously not chill” and “Heedless” to the posse that dwell within this establishment. A rollercoaster of a stopover to say the least. An acquired taste, if I could describe it… Budget Cola and cheap Vino. I will be visiting again, perhaps when I’m feeling a little bit too overjoyed then I can return and endeavour into sombreness and resentment for living my modest life and not being “Chillll” enough. They have 2,736 craft beers, 1 wine and tap water.

I stayed at the portland house for 1 night. The service was excellent, and the food was beautifully presented and freshly served I would definitely recommend this place

Hugely underrated bar on Ecclesall, brilliant choice of beers, lagers and gins. As a bonus, and in case you arent convinced yet, the arctic monkeys left signature on the wall.

Really fun little bar with great atmosphere. Great selection of beer and cocktails. Staff are laid back and friendly. Saw a great acoustic duo there that kept us entertained for hours. Would recommend.

Nice place to have a drink! The only thing is that they only serve beer but if you are a beer lover, then this is the best place for you!

Portland House has the right kind of vibe for a more crafty brew or gin outing. It is one of my first recommends whenever looking to grab a beer over some good conversation. Especially good for Beavertown Brewery fans.

One of my favourite bars in the area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots of high seating which I prefer in bars.

The cocktails were on tap so sign was a bit misleading but otherwise staff were friendly (and helped me out with a phone charger), spirits were flowing and tunes were good. They don’t serve food, but they let you order in as longs it’s not smelly like a curry

This place is great! The service Molly and Dave provide and the drinks range is brilliant.

Awful atmosphere, beer choice isn't great and the owner isn't a nice person. Other places on Eccalsall Road are far better than this. Don't waste your money here.

Really enjoyed our evening here. Some delicious gins with helpful and knowledgeable staff. They did very well considering it was busy, with table service only due to covid. Would go again!

Great Small real ale/gin Bar. First time we've been. Good atmosphere for a wednesday nigjt, great selection of drinks. You could actually spend 10 minutes deciding what to drink. Great decor and lovely staff.

Fab selection of gins! Their special Portland home made Skittles flavour is delicious! So dangerous you can have so much of it! Very honest and relaxed place. Highly recommended place to catchup with some mates over nice drinks! Highly highly recommend!

Just popped in for some drinks, nice bar with good atmosphere, great music too. They have a good selection of Gins and other spirits along with a good selection of real Ales.

Love this bar...We visited last Saturday and the atmosphere was amazing. Cant recommend this enough for a great night out with friends.

As part of a real ale micro tour of Sheffield we took in this little bar. Nicely finished and in good reach of the other micros on the road. Five hand pumps of ever changing micros and some keg. Our beer choice was in good form. A little pricier than others in the street but worth a visit none the less.

When you are shopping on ecclesall rd or just out and about pop into the Portland house for a beer cocktail or spirit and get some snacks as well including hot dogs served most of the day and always better than subways.great selection of real ale and early bird special discounts available.So whenever you're next in the area come along and enjoy the afternoon you won't be disappointed 🙂👍🍺

Have been here several times but ownership seems to change frequently and on this visit appeared to have changed again. A few different touches inside made the place seem a bit more cosy. Good range of hand pulled beers.

Seeing Welsh and tropical in the same sentence immediately caught my eye. Zowie, the barmaid, ensured me the exotic ingredients used were grown and brewed in Newport. Flavoured with passionfruit, it just goes to show the effects climate change is having in Wales. Thank you, Zowie.

A hidden gem of a place. Cool atmosphere, great staff and a tremendous gin selection. Been a few times with my son and his friends for gin tasting sessions. Always something new. A must visit when in Sheffield.

Looks like a small ordinary bar, but pretty cool inside with a great selection of beers, lagers and whiskies. We chose an expensive whisky and the bartender warned us it cost more - I thought this was impressive. Nice atmosphere all round.

Nice little bar. Good beer, decent selection, well looked after at a fair price. No blaring music or terrible TV to put up with, just a collection of people enjoying a pint and a chat.

Nice little 'micro pub', little bit more hipster in the selection of drinks. Seems to gather a middle aged crowd. I've heard their karaoke or live music events, so if you like that then it's a nice place to go when there's something on!

Lovely place to visit for a few drinks, excellent decor. Nice selection of drinks however quite expensive if you miss the happy hour times. Only let down was the lack of atmosphere and interaction from staff.

Great selection here, many things unavailable elsewhere, staff are always friendly and there is usual plenty of space to sit. There is a very nice atmosphere here and the location on ecclesall road is useful for other establishments and public transport.

Nice micro pub. Just concentrates on what makes a good pub :- good beer and a pleasant vibe. No music or TV screens, which for me is fine. There are plenty of pubs close by if that's what you wish.

It's very relaxed in here, a cross between a pub and a bar. The bitters were ok, not really anything great though as there is such good choice in Sheffield. They have up to 6 hand pulls on and usually something different like a porter or a farmers blue. Service can be a little slow sometimes as the bar staff have to do way more than just serve (clearing glass, filling dish washer etc etc) and it gets busy on Friday but over all this place is ok

Really love stopping off at this place for a drink when making our way down Eccy road. It has a great selection of drinks, good bar snacks and a laid back, relaxed atmosphere. If you are on your own, then sitting in the window watching all the people go by is great. There is a big unisex, wheelchair-friendly toilet here as well.

Great Bar, unpretentious and chilled out, pleasant staff, clean and well presented, great selection of beers and wines/ spirits too so it attracts the real ale / micro brewery crowd with out alienating ladies and those individuals that prefer wine etc... Highly recommended !
