Stopped in for lunch after a wet and very muddy walk. Instant friendly greeting. Selection of real ales. Offered choice from lunch and restaurant menus but settled for a delicious spicy 12" from the additional pizza menu. Quick, efficient and friendly service. Clean and well presented bar and toilets.

We threw my mums surprise 60th here. From first contact Jimmy was great and made planning so easy! When we arrived to set up Lisa couldn’t have done more and I knew we made the right decision throwing the party at the Greystones. The function room was perfect for what we wanted - drinks, dancing and food! We had the hot buffet and the food was lovely. lots of the guests commented about how good it was. The service at the bar was brilliant - quick and efficient even though it was busy. Thanks so much to Lisa, Jimmy and all their staff - such a friendly team who make you feel so welcome! I couldn’t fault a thing.

Only popped in for directions, but I was greeted like a proper guest by the staff and the atmosphere was bubbling even on a Monday night. Offered me water for the drive too. Will definitely be returning for a pint in the future:)

We went for Sunday lunch for the first time yesterday but came away very disappointed. The pub is stunning on the outside but disappointing inside. We ate in the snug area which was very cramped in. But the lunch was average the roast potatoes were hard inside the meat was dry and hard to cut, such a shame just small things. The waitresses need more training also.

We arrived on bicycles for a light lunch and enjoyed a pizza sitting in the garden in the sun. The landlord was more than happy to fill my water bottle with iced water and gladly foil wrapped the pizza that we couldn’t manage for our later enjoyment.

You always get a warm friendly welcome here! The food is always cooked to high standards and tastes great! I recommend the Sunday roasts, they are fabulous! Great selection of drinks too! The pub also have a lot of events going on and support the local community by supporting and hosting barbecues, discos etc. Doug and June are so hard working and you can see that in the way this pub runs!

We popped in after a lovely local walk. The Sunday lunch was great value for money with some of the best roast potatoes we've had (outside of the goose fat ones we have at home). The landlord was taking great care to ensure the beautiful beer garden looked nice. In fact the whole place looked scrupulously clean. This is a great find. I highly recommend it.

Wednesday night is pub quiz night @ The Greystones. My BiL and I usually eat out before the event. The menu is good with specials (as well as themed nights during the week and Sunday roast). The food is reasonably priced, well presented, good quality and well cooked. I can recommend the sausage and mash with onion gravy and my BiL swears by the scampi & chips. Recommended

We visited at lunchtime for a Christmas meal. I appreciate it's difficult to cater to 30 odd people, and I don't expect miracles compared to normal service, but this fell well short. The waiter who served me had obviously been drafted in for the session, he didn't know his way round the bar and couldn't serve me a Guinness if his life depended on it.When we sat down the starters came out together, quite quickly and everybody eat together. Tick. The music was cranked up to 11, to conversation was difficult. One type of mains was bought out, then nothing. Those people eat their meal and finished. Then the turkey dinners were bought out. The spuds were too hard to get a knife in, as were the carrots. Their was absolutely no taste to the meal at all I'm afraid. After we'd finished they bought out the steak meals, and those people eat on their own. Then they bought theIr chips and finally their peas.£17 for a sub-standard Christmas meal was a let down.

Called in for visit as we heard the Greystones was under New Management - very nice to see new décor and the whole place tidied up. Lovely staff, very friendly, and a warm atmosphere, even in the middle of a Friday lunchtime. We had ham, egg and chips, and was served promptly and food was great. Definitely will be going back there, especially as I've heard they're doing cocktail evenings, which I know the wife will enjoy. Lovely place, great food, all good. Thanks very much.

We looked up a place to stop for lunch on our way from Sussex to Oakham, The Greystones looked good with a nice menu. When we went in it looked very tired and went to the bar to ask if they were serving food, to be told the kitchen is shut but we could go to the shops across the road to buy some food and we were welcome to eat it in the pub and they would serve us drinks. Well that's not really what you want when your expecting a nice pub lunch.

We used to visit this pub nearly twenty years ago when it was a pleasant village pub. We paid a visit yesterday and regretted it. The pub is in the process of changing hands and may improve after the change in August 2017 but we would avoid as it is at present.

Enjoyed a great Sunday roast at this pub. Visited at midday just as the Greystones opened. Friendly staff, was clean and looked newly decorated. Had Roast park and a pint of Guinness. Both great. Food was served promptly and thought it good value. Landlord is a Spurs supporter and one wall is given over to displaying street signs from football grounds.

Swore I wouldnt eat here again after last time. I ordered brie wedges and cranberry sauce but they had run out so gave me branston instead! But the sun was shining and we thought it would be nice to sit out and have a light lunch. The pub is very nice since the new owners have taken over and has a lovely garden so gave it a second chance. The lunch menu is tiny and simple, I thought not much choice but that can be good sometimes. We ordered steak and red onion sandwiches. Came without onion! The owner apologised and they made us another one. By this time the kids had nearly finished their cheesy chips (with a couple of hairs in). Then waited another 25 minutes for the replacement. Onions hardly cooked and big chunks. Cant understand why we waited so long as pub nearly empty! Great place for drink but dont waste your money on the food.

The property has been in decline for a number of years and it was sad to see it so. However the new owners, for its a free house, have refurbished the property to the extent of even removing all the doors and replacing them with far better and more aesthetically pleasing ones. That combined with a good clean, an excellent paint job, new carpets and bar furniture have turned the place into a bright and airy establishment.

We had a fantastic time, we had the Bottomless Brunch which came with a meal and as many cocktails you could drink in 90 mins. We managed 6 each and all were delicious! Staff very friendly and all drinks came quickly. We’ll be booking again!

This place is quirky and the idea behind it is really nice, full of interesting events and activities, selling art, craft and music. However, there are a few flaws: staff could be more welcoming (they seem so busy running around without smiling even when they don’t have many clients), but more importantly the place is not clean enough. Every time I went tables were sticky and had left over crumbles and food from previous customer, you pick up one of the free books on display and they are all dusty, same as the table games… it doesn’t give you much trust on the state of the kitchen. Menu is varied enough with an eye for intolerances and vegan/vegetarian which is great however quality of the food is just ok, a bit bland and coffee very substandard even compared to a chain like Costa. The place has surely potential, the idea is great, but there is surely room for improvement.

Fantastic couple of pints Great to see this popular town centre pub getting better and better. New owners have been in for a few months now and it's nice to see some investments being made - the heating is on, and there's new furniture outside for starters. I've seen plans for more improvements to come once approved, but in the meantime it's nice to have a great choice of well kept beer.
