**Review of The Greyhound Inn** We decided to visit The Greyhound Inn for a last-minute Sunday carvery, drawn by the numerous positive reviews we had heard. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had hoped for. Upon arrival, we were met with extremely rude and unwelcoming staff, which set a negative tone for the entire visit. The atmosphere felt hostile, and it was clear that customer service was not a priority. As for the food, it was disappointingly bland and unremarkable. Given the hype, we expected a much higher standard, but it felt like a complete waste of money. We left feeling dissatisfied and regretting our choice not to stick with our usual spot. It is a shame, really, because the place itself is quite beautiful. However, the poor service and subpar food overshadowed the lovely setting. We will not be visiting The Greyhound Inn again. Save yourself the disappointment and go elsewhere.

carvery here is bang on, they always seem to fit us in even for a flying visit. always busy for carvery and a very reasonable price. eaten from the normal menu too and they usually make great cocktails.

I went to the greyhound today with my 14yo and my husband. I called in advance to see if needed to book I was told that I did t as there were tables available. Upon arrival I was asked if I’d booked to which I reminded them of our recent conversation. We were escorted to a high table to eat and told to order at the bar. We were not given menus so we had to sneak a peek at a neighbouring tables but I was conscious that one of the party didn’t have a menu. My son chose a buttermilk burger, myself and my husband opted to have a carvery. The beef was in the carvers own words “like pulled beef” and we had beef crumbs instead of slices. My son’s food arrived promptly, before we returned to the table for the carvery. My son ate some of his chips first and did his best to eat the burger but it was swimming in a very spicy sauce, I tried it myself as did my husband who really does like spice and even he said it was unpalatable. I addressed this with the waitress who apologised and said they would remake it which I thought was great service. A few minutes later the manager came out and said that she couldn’t refund the burger (which we didn’t ask her to) and she was unwilling to remake it unless we paid for another! I was astounded by her attitude. She then went on to say that my son instead could have a children’s carvery! He is a 14yo boy and did not want a carvery, else I would have ordered him a(n adult) carvery. I was utterly lost for words. I then went back to the bar and asked to speak to the manager again. She still point blank refused to replace his burger. Or anything else other than a childrens carvery (which to be honest we left most of ours as it was very poor as well). Never have I received such poor hospitality, she said I was welcome to address it with the owners of No 12 in Ashby who own the establishment. When we left, as we were getting in our vehicle I heard the most obscene language coming from the manager and the chef talking about our party. Effing and blinding and asking if we were “still there” to which she replied we’d left. Never ever will I set foot into this place again. The manager (Sam) wants sacking and the chef needs to understand that sometimes less is more with his sauces!!

not one of better meals had booked o table in advance asking for window seat with easy access for my husband got email back saying booking confermed. when we got their lady on door acted like she new nothing about booking offered the bar been in their did not like it next she said well be busy in the end got ta table in a corner. first course ok pudding was cold was steamed choclate shown sent if back to be warmed up if they had contacted us we would have chosen a different day when they not so busy will think twice about going again

Me and my mum took some friends out for food. The staff were lovely and the food was exceptional. I would love to go again soon as it was a wonderful experience

4 of us visited, and we had the small carvery selection, this came with a soup starter or a sponge pudding with custard for £8.95. The carvery had a choice of 4 meats, the small carvery was a couple of slices of meat, yorkshire pudding, stuffing and as much veg as you wanted. The gravy was also really tasty. Pudding was really nice too. Cannot beat the price and the food lovely. The restaurant was lovely and seating comfortable. Toilets were spotless. Lots of car parking. Really great staff. We really enjoyed our lunch.

Had evening dinner on the Thursday and then Sunday lunch. You wouldn't think it much on first impressions. Neat building on main road going west from Ashby but huge carpark at the back and it was busy both times. We'd booked over the phone for Thu dinner and no mention was made of choosing restaurant or bar. So the miserable (woman) greeter showed us to a table in the bar, next to a busy walkway for staff going back n forth like trains in the station. We got moved on request to an empty table in the restaurant but the greeter wasn't happy that we defied her decisions. No matter. We were happy. Menu was varied, enough to satisfy all tastes, tho we had 1 carvery and 1 peri peri chicken. Food was excellent, couldn't be better. Service was polite but with a full house, the staff seemed overworked and service suffered a little. However my fussy partner was well pleased with the food, and we booked again for Easter Sunday. Again not disappointed. Had a very early booking to start pre-noon to fit us in, but food (2 carveries) again terrific. Good variety on the carvery (again) and all the fixin's were well cooked and there was plenty of it. Table service this time was much better, maybe the waiter remembered us from the previous visit. Even the desserts were good though all were very sweet; the only complaint could be to add some less-sweet desserts to the menu.

Surprised at some of the bad reviews on here. We called in for some lunch and had a really good experience. Friendly staff, quick service and lovely food. Will definitely be back. I had the hallumi kebab and the missus had the chicken. Both were delicious.

Carvery well £ 14.00 , The potatoes under cooked , rest of veg cold having to to use the gravy to warm up meal isn't good tbh use to be good now more expensive for worse food .

Arrived and a very nice gentleman showed my friend and I to table 44 no problem all was going well when a customer arrived with a dog she looked at our table and said we booked that table I wanted it because I brought my dog she then went on to keep saying loudly that she wasn't happy and she was going to complain she made us feel very uncomfortable..when our food arrived we mentioned it to the lady but there was nothing else she could do...any way about the food it was excellent we had pizza.the staff were very good especially the man that greeted us and took us to our table...the greyhound you should be proud of all staff..didn't give full marks due to a very rude lady making our us feel uncomfortable..

Never had a bad meal there,visited many times with my family. Visited this Friday with a group of friends. Really enjoyed the food we had. Great service too.

The food wasn't hot , gammon was as thin as bacon and very salty chips were awful we all left half of our 4 meals , customer service was good chap was friendly and very helpful.

Chris was a great host for the night, looked after us brilliantly and had a great sense of humour as well! For someone who is new to the job he had us fooled for an experienced staff member. Food was also excellent.

An hour wait for Pizza, manager with an attitude, best part is the exit. Overly priced drinks and bang average food, would recommend to the homeless

Not often i do this (write reviews) however, following our recent experience at the Greyhound Inn i felt compelled to do so . Booked in for dinner we were welcomed and hosted by Chris Clifford a genuine credit to the Greyhound team. We were seriously impressed by his diligence and professionalism, and that of the wider staff. Obviously experienced in his trade... but what impressed us most was how Chris lead by example and how the who team simply oozed customer care... great place, great food and superb service.

Pizza is tasteless no flavour in sauce or cheese. Had to put loads of seasoning on it. Base is nice but it needs flavour. And they charged me £1 for glass of fizz water from the pump. It’s FREE EVERYWHERE else. !!!!! Outrageous

The food was perfect and would highly recommend it. The burger was beautifully cooked, and my pudding was amazing. I would love to go back

Well after giving up on getting a meal without having to complain about it we decided to stop going so after a year or probably more we decided to try again wish we hadn't bothered the carvery meals were ok it was the one's of the menu that were awful and no-one asked how our meals were I suppose I could have put a complaint in but what's the point we just won't go back shame really it used to be a great place.

I made the mistake of booking a table in the bar. I ordered the main course at the bar and experience difficulty in ordering as the bairmaid did not speak very good English si I had to point out to her in the nenu what I wanted. After main course which was OK my wife and I decided that we would like desserts so I went back to the bar to order them. After a long wait because the same barmaid decided to serve other people and ignore me, she took the order and I paid. I didn't ask for a receipt and thought that I would be served the two desserts to only receive one. Again the barmaid had not been able to understand what I was saying to her. Would ho back again. It was disgraceful.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch nd we were greeted when we arrived and shown to our table where a very helpful waitress explained the carvery and took our drinks order. We lined up for the carvery. My turkey and gammon was spot on and served with 2 different potatoes, roast and mash and a choice of 6 vegetables, cauliflower, parsnips, peas, carrots, red cabbage and green cabbage. Also all the trimmings, nothing missed out and the crackling was to die for! I only missed having wine to wash it down as I was driving. My friend is vegetarian and she enjoyed the cheese and onion pie with all the veg. For dessert I had the vegan cheese cake. If you have never tried vegan cheese cake - they are delicious and I am not vegan! My friend had a sundae and she loved it. A great Sunday lunch.

Have visited the Greyhound on a number of occasions recently with the quality of food served ranging from excellent to poor. Problem being you can have an excellent meal one day and the next time you visit, ordering the same meals, it bears little resemblance...

Took the whole family for my birthday. Great night, special thank you to Nicola who looked after us and really cared and took pride in everything she did. Thank you. The food was fab too.

As always this place doesn't disappoint, friendly staff, wood fired pizza oven that turns out fantastic and very large pizza's. The carvery is fresh and they are generous with the meat too!

Popped in very last minute on a Saturday evening, greyhound is a favourite for us. The manager managed to squeeze us in, service was 10/10 and so was the food. Will definitely be coming back

Christina's cocktails are to die for. And she's bang tidy, not that the other girls aren't so as not to cause offence but dayum. Try the taj mahal pizza too, game changer

The food is not upto normal standards, no ice-cream no tartar sauce chips were cheap variety and not cooked enough.

me and hubby went yesterday lunchtime and was greeted by a young lady and promptly shown to our table. a lovely lady came straight out although they were very busy, and took our drinks order and gave menus. a few minutes later she took our food order. food came out really quickly, i had the veg carvery which was gorgeous and he had had egg and chips. the lady who served us told us she had only just started working there but she was spot on. i know how hard it is to do table service because i do the same job. well done team greyhound. heres to next week.

Not sure if it was a busy period, staff disappeared all too often and waited for long periods to call staff to the table given it was table service only, and plenty of staff on. The espresso martini needed extra sugar, and the nachos including sauce appeared shop bought which was disappointing. Mains (fish and chips) and puddings (sticky toffee pudding) were lovely though.

My family used eat here often for the carvery which was always very busy and not particularly my style of food but it was always a pleasant enough experience. We visited again last weekend and I have to say the food was fantastic and the service was superb. I realise the current style of service might only be temporary because of covid restrictions but I almost wish it could stay as it was nice to see staff not rushed off their feet and being able to look after customers properly. All the servers in the garden were very patient with us, nothing felt like too much trouble and we were checked on many times. Even though they had a limited menu, it was all delicious and really well presented. It felt fresh and the pizza was one of the best I’ve had. I’ll definitely be back!

After 20 mins waiting drinks order taken. Another 15 mins drinks came but were wrong. Food order taken after drinks order sorted. Another 15 mins hubbies food came, no sign of mine for another 10 mins (carvery) when it arrived was wrong size and hubbies food gone cold. Had to get someone over to see where carvery was but by this time hubby was very cross. Told them we would pay for the drinks and go. They offered the drinks for free and the lady was so apologetic, not her fault we know. There were two staff who were waiting their tables brilliantly but for us on the other side of the room no one came near us. The attention we got was only when we shouted someone to come over. It’s a shame, the refurb looks really good but needs someone organising the staff. We had to go home and cook so to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Was our last chance to go out before second lockdown, gutted!

Just got back from the greyhound in woodville, stood waiting to be seated,young man called harry he came rushing over to door to me ,to take my temp and to make sure we had done track and trace..took me to the table which I had booked,he looked after us throughout our meal, meals very good ,we were all happy with our choices , asked for a boxes my pizza too big but it was lovely, had a couple of dessert which were fabulous..very well organised, felt very safe ,well done to staff and management for keeping resturant open with restrictions.. A big thank you to harry for all your hard work ..we will be returning for some excellent service and food soon. Thank you

Second and last time we have carvery.Food looked like it had been thrown on plates and veg so over cooked you couldn;t chew it. Yorkshire puds were so tough my grand daughter could not cut them.£30 for three dinners that were so awful,i just wished i had made a complaint there and then.

The Greyhound was refurbished during lockdown, so my husband and I thought that we'd visit on a Tuesday evening as they have an offer on 2 pizzas for £12. There are 15 pizzas to choose from!! My husband had a Taj Mahal, I had a Big Benand we also had a garlic bread to share. We had to have another table just for the garlic bread as the 2 pizzas filled the table!! We were so full afterwards and thought that it was fantastic value and we will definitely return. We were served by Ayesha who was very attentive - nothing was too much trouble for her and she was very pleasant!

We came here after a family outing today for lunch and was very impressed. We didn't need to book we phoned up on off chance and they fitted us in since the refit the pub and restaurant look fantastic all well spaced out and very comfortable and safe.The staff were all very polite and welcoming and all wearing protective visors when serving you. The food was brilliant value for money we had a pizza, ham egg and chips and a children's fish finger chips and peas which all portion were big the children's portion was more like an adults great value for money. We def reccomend to anyone who fancies a reasonable prices meal and wants to feel safe.

First visit following the reopening, very impressed with the overall decor, very nice, we had to wait a while for the food to arrive, I had Hunters Chicken for main course and was very disappointed, the chicken was overcooked and dry, the chips were undercooked and greasy, the quantity of food was good and the salad was delicious. The other guests in the party commented that their food was excellent.

Amazing place been going for some time and will highly recommend, very nice food. Go there everytime I'm at swad

I had the mix grill and it was done perfect. The social distance was really good and I noticed that the waitress was on the ball with cleaning the menus and the tables. They also was sanitizing there hands on a regular basis. All staff was nice and polite. The revamped restaurant looks nice and modern. We will definitely carry on going here. Well done all the staff for keeping safe.

First time visit for me, you never get a second chance to make a first impression is a great saying and the Greyhound did not disappoint. Pleasant attentive staff extensive menu with something for all.

Sadly very disappointed. We walked into a lovely, welcoming atmosphere to find there was only one member of staff serving at the bar which made ordering food a long drawn out affair. We ordered the Ultimate nachos which includes pulled pork or chicken but as one of our party is vegetarian we asked that the meat be excluded but we were still charged the full £8.95! Could I suggest you offer a meat free version at a lower cost or if there was a meat free version we be advised of this.The waiting staff were polite enough, however we would prefer our finished starters to be taken away before a main meal is served, I had to ask that they be cleared away! Surely we weren’t expected to eat whilst there were dirty pots surrounding us. I can’t remember ever having to ask that finished starter plates be taken away.. Maybe staff training and numbers need to be considered.The first main came out almost 10 minutes before main meal 2&3 and the last main followed a few minutes later. We would prefer that meals are served together. Food was just ok.

Booked for dinner. Decided to opt for the Carvery. The gammon and turkey were really crumbly so didn’t get 1 full slice of meat. Everything on the Carvery was nearly empty. No stuffing balls. Gravy was nice and hot, but it was a bit gloopy and thick, and normally I like thick gravy. I thought the yorkies used to be homemade, but they weren’t today. I’ve had Carvery here twice before and normally it’s really good, will definitely try again though, maybe was just an off night

Firstly, was advised the plates were hot but they were only slightly warm. The beef and turkey was dry. The vegetables were extremely overcooked and only luke warm.As the food was kept and displayed at Luke warm temperatures it has to be at risk to develop bacterial growth.

Called in today for a drink and a meal. Went in the bar for a drink. The music was so loud we asked a lovely young lady if they had a quiet spot. Sat with our drink and a great young man came over and said he would turn the music down to a more sociable level which he did. While looking through the menu some kind soul decided to turn the music back up. Needless to say we finished our drinks, had a word with the staff and left.

I came here today with my husband daughter and mum... it was a rare and important family meal... and quite emotional due to family circumstancesso I am pleased to say...staff- wonderfulservice- wonderfulfood- exceptionalatmosphere- lovelyprice- brilliantfelt welcomed, nothing was too much trouble, smiley and happy. We had a table of ten for a birthday dinner. Only one person serving at the carvery and she was more bothered about talking to other staff than the customers . She kept going into the kitchen and coming back empty handed this ment that when some of us had finished and was ready for desert others in our party were still waiting to get served.such a shame used to be a good meal and service we will now go to the beaches instead.

Went here as recommended by the holiday site were were staying at. How appalled we were. Met by a young man who mumbled and made us feel like an inconvenience. There were no tables available but we were happy to wait until one became free. We were shown to the bar where we asked if there were any seats he shrugged his shoulders and walked off. We walked out and took our business elsewhere.

Our first visit to the Greyhound after recommendation, I must say how disappointing the carvery was. The turkey was very dry and the beef was all gristle. When the waitress removed our plates with all the meat left on I said how bad it was. To be told I'm sorry about that and walked away, I also told another waitress and got the same answer.

Great selection of food including roast dinners offered at very good prices. Quality is always good and the service is excellent. Can get very busy so pick your time. Good value.

Went to the Greyhound for Sunday lunch with family down for the weekend and we were all impressed. Staff were very courteous both when booking on the phone and on arrival and throughout.

I have always enjoyed meals I have been served here. There is a good range to choose from on the menu too and my family like the carvery. Ienjoy the richness of the liver and onions and would recommend the beef bourguignon in particular. The accompnaiments are also a tasty addition on the plate. Also, the atmosphere is nice and the service is good too.

Very very good value for money. The quality and service is excellent. We like to eat in the bar area as the atmosphere is good and there is live music later in evening on Saturdays.

After our first visit here about 10 days ago, we returned last night for a meal and were very disappointed with all aspects. I would have thought that given the tme this place ahd been up and running, the kitchen staff would have worked out the Starters came first followed by Mains!! - But, no, on our fist visit the Starters arrived at the same time as the Mains and this time only one Starter arrived and after about 7 or 8 minutes we asked where the remaining ones were - they arrived a few minutes later with the Garlic Bread with Mozerralla resembling a giant pizza! Then another 15 minutes later the first Main dish arrived - Pizza but we had to ask the staff where the remaining 4 Mains were and after another wait were told "Sorry but the order had been forgotten and would be another 10 mins" When they arrived it was obvious they ahd been rushed through as they were barely hot and the accompanying chips were disgusting and un-eatable - they reminded me of chips left over from lunch and the re-heated. We complained and asked for consideration be made but after the staff member had contacted someone (who knows?) we were asked if a member of staff had asked us if our food was OK, to which we emphatically said NO. No adjustment to the final bill was made or offered so we will not be back again.

We went in for a quick lunch and were surprised to find a pizza oven in the restaurant. so we had pizza and I have to say it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had.

It’s been a few years since I’d eaten at this pub but from what I remember it was nice. So when my friends & I were looking for somewhere different to try for a birthday get together I suggested here. I wish I hadn’t bothered. We arrived @ 7.45 but even though it wasn’t late the cavery looked dry & very unappealing so we ordered from the menu. I decided on a lasagne which came with garlic ciabatta & side salad. I said that as I didn’t want a side salad could I have something different? The barmaid said no as there wasn’t an equivalent alternative! No suggestion or offer to provide something else, just a comment that I’ll just not have have it. The food arrived very quickly which isn’t always a good sign & as it turned out proved to be the case. My lasagne was absolutely covered in thick cheese & the inside was extremely dry & very tasteless. Obviously reheated in a microwave. I struggled through a few mouthfuls but when the waitress asked if everything was ok I told her that it wasn’t as my meal was not at all nice, that it was very dry & that it wasn’t acceptable. She said she would speak to her boss & came back within 60 seconds to say I could order an alternative. By this time my friends were over half way through their meals so I decided not to have a large meal & I ordered a soup. It came fairly promptly & whilst it wasn’t horrible it was just “ok”.

This place is lovely been a few times now and cannot fault it. Really nice food and friendly staff what more could you ask for

Staff are great. The pizzas are third best around (after bulls head and the swan). The manger however needs retraining or a change of career

Carvery not to bad.we arrived at 6.30.There was no Fish or Gammon.The roast potatoes were hard and tangy.When we arrived the chef was poringhoney over the roast parsnips .They should be cooked in honey.Overall the experience was not to bad. The staff were excellent.

We have used this pub before when we are down from scotand. The food is good we went here 3times this week. Staff are friendly except for the guy who served us on Friday with the carvery, he came from the kitchen and was quite rude he wears glasses so try to avoid him if possible, otherwise would highly recommend this pub.

Again the Greyhound has not disappointed. Good food, great service, reasonable price. Try it for yourself, but always best to book ahead .

We were looking forward to a nice evening with our friends last Friday (30. August) which we haven't seen for quite some time. We had a lot to talk about but the so called background music was so loud that we had to shout to each other which made the evening a strain. The meals were OK but we will be thinking twice going there again.

To be honest I can't fault this place. Me and business colleague called in here for something to eat. We had a carvery each and a pint of diet coke and lime and soda. We had the chocolate sponge and ice-cream. Well £15 fed and watered us both and it was amazing. Great value for money. We will go again soon.

Small carvery with friends and everything was perfect. Vegetables were hot fresh and plentiful, meat was juicy and tender. Staff were pleasant and mature. Friend had stroganof and it was very good. Simply the best in the area.

We are regular visitors to this place every Thursday lunchtime, this was our first visit in the evening and will very definately be our last. After numerous visits at lunchtime and always 5 star reviews what a difference tonight. I took a friend who had not been before and what a disaster, the meat on the carvery except for the gammon was overcooked, dry and shredded, the poor girl couldnt carve a slice of beef, turkey or pork, at lunchtime the meat she was having to serve has been seen by myself given to a customer for his dogs! refused to have a meal and was refunded my friend risked the dried up beef and with a lot of gravy got it down! had a refund for my meal , but to make matters worse the table of ten with 2 small children one in a high chair who after eating his McDonalds chips spent the next 45 minutes banging his fork on the table and squealing. there is a notice in the car park asking you to respect neighbours and be quiet more importantly you should have a notice asking customers to respect other diners and have a child friendly area as most people eating out in the evening want a quiet environment and good food sadly we got neither. We will still come on a thursday with my 92 year old mum who has alzeimers and we always have an excellent meal

This place is ok if you want a cheap meal, but you get what you pay for , not the freshest ingredients and not the best kept beer. We prefer the Taphouse down the road a couple of pound more but all fresh British .

We were met at the door by have you booked when there were plenty of tables free .ordered drinks & food @ the bar ww had a sharer starter American platter . Realised @ arrivel back @ the table i had been charged for a pint of cider not an half my daughter had got . So was refunded with a kind of sorry. The place wasn't too busy but quite a few unruly children due to summer holidays. One child was eating McDonald's food @ the ta& waving a dinner knife around. That table had had all their main meals & had eaten . But we still hadn't received our share starter. They went for a break has i was going to the bar to enquire about our food after 40minutes. As it came out . No apology for saying no other meals were brought out to other tables. I then realised we were missing mac & cheese off our share starter .so complained to be told they may have left it on the side. The waitress then went back into the kitchen to arrive back @ our table to announce that it had been left on the side in the kitchen. But no apology or do you want a fresh one . On trying the mac & cheese we found it to be just warm , but the sauce was like water ! Hence not really hungry any much & not enjoyable. Also my daughter had to complain about the bass & loudness of the music out of the speaker by our tawhich was rectified soon afterwards but reoccurred soon afterwards. Not a good experience . Will npt be returning for quite some time.

We visit on the spur of the moment quite often as well as booking up for family occasions.Best to book for friday and weekend visits.

Ive not been for a while, but i was really pleased with the quality of the food. the Pizza is really good and so was my pie ( really good taste). The coated chicken burger was really juicy and the carvery was made great by the delicious gravy. Will defiantly be back. A really affordable family meal. Thank you.

Just popped in for a carvery , not dissapointed. Staff friendly, food good, price on par with most places. Will be back, and recommend it. Looks like its a victim of it's own success so would ring and book at peak times .

Having had some disappointing meals when the Pub 1st reopened many years ago, however we have been back over the years and enjoyed the Carvery with our 2 children.

We took my brother for a pre wedding meal and it was beautiful and not expensive at all. We had a great night out. Thank you to the Greyhound.

Took my husband and father and family to greyhound inn. Absolutely amazing choice of food, staff really friendly and very helpful highly recommend as this is great value for money too and very large portions.

A party of 9 of us called in for Sunday Lunch. We all had the carvery. Very nice it was to and a good choice and reasonably priced Would recommend a visit.

This was our first visit, we'd heard good things about the food and we weren't disappointed, the service was speedy and efficient, the food was excellent, 2 of us had the carvery and 2 had steak. Definitely going again.

We walked in as a table of 4 and was surprised how busy it was for a Monday afternoon! I really have to give credit to the owner for his menu because there was so much choice and the dishes sounded pretty decent. We all opted for the lunchtime carvery deal- initially feeling dubious about the ‘small plates’, but wow I didn’t even finish mine and it was tasty too! I didn’t think much to the crumble though as I didn’t have much crumble topping, obviously just a personal preference, but couldn’t fault the size of it, and the custard was yummy. I will definitely go back to try the sharing items on the menu and the sloppy joe burger sounded great too!

We were treated to a meal here for Birthday celebrations and to say it was terrible is an understatement!!! Our food took an hour to come and when it did it was absolutely revolting and not once did anybody come over and ask how our food was so we had no opportunity to say how awful it was. Everybody knows in the food industry that you have to ask if everything is ok with your meals but we were not asked this. When we came to pay I explained all this and the member of staff stood at the side of her senior and lied through her teeth saying she did ask us, SHE DID NOT!! He then said was it nice and we all said it was revolting and he clearly doesn’t know that if you are not asked if your food is ok then he cannot charge but he still did, this place is ran by amateurs who do not stick to food industry rules and etiquette. We will never ever return to this dreadful place and will tell all family and friends to avoid at all costs and we were still charged full price for disgusting food and even worse service!!!!!!

I've been to this restaurant a few times mainly at lunch for the carvery and the service is always very friendly and the food is always very nice thanks to all at the greyhound 👍😊

We discovered The Greyhound a few months back and wish we’d found it years ago. The food in particular the carveries and the pizzas are the best for miles around. The staff are friendly and helpful, too. Also the restaurant is spotlessly clean as are the toilets. What I noticed was how the toilet doors are propped open onto the bar and restaurant area. That, to me, shows they are confident with their hygiene levels. Long may this well run restaurant continue - we love it and will keep coming back. Thank you.

After driving round for about an hour to find somewhere to eat that had its own car park, the mrs spots the Greyhound.

We went here with mixed emotions as I wouldn't normally try somewhere new with as many mixed reviews as this place has. However we were caravanning nearby and needed to try somewhere dog and vegan friendly quickly as the kids were complaining because they hadn't eaten for the and a half minutes. Long story short, food and service were excellent and the interior was smart and clean. I had the vegan tikka pie which was fantastic. What was especially encouraging was there was a plethora of vegan options which is relatively rare in most other pubs around here. Will definitely be returning.

Haven't been in a while, so thought we would pop in tonight. Great carvery and when asked they made me a lovely bowl of cauliflower cheese without hesitation at no extra cost. Food was hot, no complaints.. Staff were all plesent and tables cleared away promptly so a nice clean restaurant.

All staff from work went to greyhound inn Thursday 21st February 19 Amazing choice of food large portions very friendly staff and the owners are just amazing they work hard and take pride in every way possible

Twice now my childs meal has been forgotten about and staff have clearly gone to the local chippy to get his Nuggets and chips. Next time we will just go there ourselves and save them the bother.

Myself and husband have visited this eatery several times over the years and we have always been impressed. However, on our recent visit everything, except one thing, was exceptional .... my husband ordered apple pie with custard for dessert ..... the custard arrived in a pottery bowl with a chip in (not the edible kind). I was not at the table when it arrived or I would have mentioned this to the waitress there and then. My husband is not one to complain but I felt that this needed mentioning. When the waitress came to clear everything away she asked if everything was okay .... I told her about the chip in the bowl and that I thought this should not have been used. The waitress said that unfortunately this was unavoidable due to it being made of pottery and the amount of times it would be used throughout the day. I suggested using stainless steel serving jug/bowl but she disagreed saying that customers didn't like this. Surely they would prefer stainless steel to pottery with chip in!
