The greyhound is the best place to eat out in Harlow. It is a friendly, family run business. There is plenty of outdoor seating, with pleasant views out across the park. We met two older friends there who also enjoyed their meal. Three of us had vegetarian main dishes and one fish. The food was all tasty, arrived in good time and was reasonably priced. The one slight glitch is the parking, there is none at the pub and our older friends who had driven over from Hertford had to wait a while for someone to leave the public car park for the town park. We've not had this problem before, and it was probably unfortunate timing with the end of the school holidays and park being so popular.

The people here are so kind. I had the misfortune to fall off my pushbike outside the Greyhound yesterday, breaking my elbow in the process. Three folks came immediately on hearing my cries and helped me get up again, giving me a cold compress and a pint of water I thank them from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Staying in Harlow for a couple of nights with family and called in for a nostalgia visit (lived in Harlow for many years). We were given a warm welcome and the staff were happy for us to order some starters rather than a full meal. Had an enjoyable couple of hours and can’t fault the hospitality or the food- basic pub grub and priced accordingly. Will be happy to make a return visit next time we are in Harlow.

Had lunch with my wife and two children aged 8 and 6. Met family as planned for afternoon lunch. Met both sisters with partners and their children for lunch, both women aged 27 and 30 with their mother aged 63, but wanted photos ID from all. My sisters husband who is 27 and was with his child aged 6 didn’t have ID so was refused an alcoholic drink. Both sisters provided driving licence which were accepted. When we questioned the logic of this we were all asked to leave. Absolutely astounded by the lack of common sense and rational judgment of this staff member. Avoid this place, those in charge have no common reason.

Absolutely appalled by the staff here, a very rude lady who thinks she owns the place being very rude and in welcoming, came in as a family, ordered drinks and she decided to ID all of us even though we are all of age, and instead of being polite she was very aggressive and rude and because we challenged her once she was asking us all for id she kicked us out, the manager needs to deal with this lady as I have heard a lot of people complain about her now, never going to this pub again absolutely awful experience

Very rude lady (assuming she is the owner). I went in after a dog walk for a Diet Coke. I got asked for ID, and when I said I wanted a Diet Coke, this lady rudely said to me “it is illegal to approach a bar under the age of 18 and it’s challenge 25”. I appreciate challenge 25, but not for a Diet Coke! Also, it is NOT illegal to approach a bar under the age of 18, it is only illegal if you order alcohol. If she had been kinder I would have let it go, but her attitude was vile. I’m actually a teacher in my 20s who teaches 18 year olds, so very upset that she did not allow me my SOFT DRINK in the sun. I will not be returning.

This has been our local for 5 years which we have really enjoyed however we recently popped in for dinner and was treated with the upmost disrespect. All tables were reserved at 7pm. We waited a bit sat down at an empty table at 7:30pm and then ordered food just before 8pm where we told the waitstaff the table number. Just before the food arrived a lady working the bar came over and told us the people who reserved the table have arrived and we need to leave/move outside, just to add one off us is pregnant and the other has a 16 week old baby!!!! I understand the situation however firstly the table was an hour late and secondly the greyhound let us pay for food for that table and then proceed to kick us out while serving us said food! The food arrived while we were being told to move - we weren’t given any option to have take away boxes, wasn’t offered to sit at another table until the other guests came (at this point there were lots of table reserved but empty), wasn’t told we could be refunded, and wasn’t given to option to eat our food ‘quickly’ so the original guests could sit down but honouring the fact they let us buy food and that they were an hour late! Any of these options would have been fine instead they just took our money and told us to sit outside in the wet & cold, a pregnant lady and a new mum with a 16 week old baby! It was so cold and the benches were wet we had a few bites and had to leave and go elsewhere for food. The customer service and just the overall respect for people this night was absolutely appalling! Very disappointed - should have a time limit for late comers or not allow you to order food to a table that’s reserved.

The Greyhound is a pub in a middle of a public park and if you have the weather on your side then it's great to sit outside and chill out with a beer. Absolutely horrible people who own this place. We have just left before our food came out and asked for a refund. We have 3 young children and usually if we go to a restaurant we ask that the food comes out slightly cooled or not on a piping hot plate ,because otherwise they will burn themselves and it takes ages to cool the food down whilst our own food gets stone cold. Restaurants usually understand and do their best to help us. But the lady who owned this place came out with an attitude and told us it is absolutely impossible . They mentioned food regulations which is ofcourse understable . However there was no need to speak to us the way she did, we are reasonable people. Then the chef came out and basically came out to give us a piece of his mind. So i asked for my money back and we left. I dont think they should be speaking to their customers the way they did. I refuse to be spoken to in that way. We only asked a question we were by no means demanding anything. They could have dealt with it far better . I didnt want to leave a star because personally i dont feel like they deserve any

I worked there in the 70s and it was proper public house with two bars and a small restaurant, packed to the hilt,it was fabulous. NOW! A run down dull pub, dirty worn out decor, no atmosphere, a sports bar, TV and pool table, converted barrels for tables. The female staff worked hard, busy with a wake. Not a pub for a night out.

It looks like this place has gone downhill of late, it used to be really nice. I ordered a grill breakfast which arrived with a cremated frankfurter, cremated Bacon and a greasy burger camouflaged with loads of greasy chips. It cost nearly £12 cash. All I can say is that it is amazing what you will eat when you are hungry but certainly won't be going there again anytime soon.

Small portions, terrible catering sausages and hard overcooked eggs. The staff were rude when my pal complained. Also the bread was stale and the margarine tasted like axel grease. They was also charging gourmet prices for a sub par poorly cooked ingredients. To top it off the tea was rubbish as well. The worst cafes I've visited without exception.
