The Greyhound Cafe & Bar in Stroud

The food, atmosphere and service were easily a 10/10. Some of the most delicious food I’ve ever had, especially the tequenos! I wish I lived closer to Stroud just so I could visit more often.

We went for Taco Tuesday and we thought the black bean taco was okay but the chicken was horribly overdone and dry. They were very small. We tried 3 of the wines and didn't think any of them were nice but the Chilean riesling we were given because they ran out of Sauvignon blanc was undrinkable. They offered to swap it for us but then charged us for the swapped wine which we had to get corrected. The service was fine with friendly waitresses but the ambiance was average and overall we were disappointed.

Had dinner here last night before going to the cinema. Food was really tasty. Menu isn’t expensive (which I like) and everything else’s fresh and colourful. So many gluten free dishes too (& GF beer) which works for me! We had the empanada, a plantain dish with cheese, nachos - all delicious.

Fantastic food. We had the Tequeños and empanadas. They were amazing!!!! Highly recommend. Also dog friendly which was lovely.

Galgos Latino came recommended to us from our Airbnb host and we were not let down! The food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were good. If only we lived closer, we would go back every week.

Had heard a lot of great reviews of this restaurant from friends and finally got to visit. We were not disappointed. Delicious food, great vibe and most lovely staff. Very reasonable cost too. Would strongly recommend.

Excellent addition to Stroud eateries! We came for a couples meal and the food was delicious. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and a good variety of veggie / non veggie food on the menu. It would be nice to see a few more larger plates on the menu although appreciate this is a tapas bar. Cocktails were fabulous, amazing margarita 🍸!

Absolutely loved this place ! Independent, quirky, great atmosphere. We were so warmly welcomed and had such amazing service, i just wish we had taken our servers name (lady). The Sauvignon blanc was excellent as was the food, such great flavours ! My husband took advantage of taco Tuesday but I really wanted to try the prawn taco (not included) and the empanadas. It was all just so delicious ! We will definitely be back and we’d definitely recommend. Lovely place.

We arrived after 9pm and the kitchen was closed so we ordered a drink. During our drink we were asked if we wanted another as they were closing and we needed to leave. At this point a new table walked in and ordered fresh drinks, they were served. Our server then brought the card machine and said we should pay and leave. Then another new table walked in and they were served. We realised we were being thrown out for no reason apparent to us. Then while we were quietly finishing up our server came over and asked us, “are you done as you need to leave”. At this point more new customers walked in and sat down at a table with the owner and were served new drinks. The place was open, it was not yet 10pm and we were asked to leave based on what felt like prejudice. We did not make any trouble and were paying a whopping £6.50 for a beer. In my opinion this place started out with good service but now comes across as arrogant and badly managed. I definitely would not recommend this establishment as a place to enjoy your evening unless you are somehow friends with owners/staff. It seemed more like a dive bar with local clique crowd. 0/5 from us.

Lovely place. Delicious food, great atmosphere, caters for ceoliac patrons and pleasant staff. On Tuesdays you can get 3 Tacos for £12 from a pre-defined list, with a beer or soft drink. The yuca chips were very tasty, as too were the tortillas and guacamole. There's a diverse menu with plenty of vegan or vegetarian options, as well as many meat and fish based dishes. I left feeling very full and am looking forward to my next visit. It was quite difficult to get a table (we had to eat late) and it's obvious why; it's popular and definitely worth a visit. Don't forget to flip the egg-timer-looking-thing on the end of the table when you're ready to order!

Met friends at Galgos for a pre-Xmas meal. The food was really good, I ate things I had never tried before and really enjoyed them - the staff were welcoming and friendly and there was a great atmosphere. I can see this becoming a regular place to go

As a vegetarian and a coeliac we often have problems eating out but here there is a wide choice for both of us. The first thing you notice when you arrive is that the whole place is buzzing with happy people enjoying cocktails and the excellent food. The decor is bright and vibrant too. We tried a variety of dishes as we had not eaten here before and enjoyed them all, finishing with the deliciously indulgent trez leche cake. The staff are all jolly, friendly and efficient, you could not ask for more.

Really lovely restaurant with a funky vibe. Great tapas and cocktails. Loved the pork with plantains and the chocolate sticks for dessert. Can't wait to go back.

Warm welcome as soon as we arrived. We choose the Sunday lunch which was incredible - traditional yet latino at the same time. Presentation of our dish was stunning. Food was delicious and wine was great - matched by the fantastic customer service.

Amazing food, friendly service. We were welcomed with a smile, and for a mid-week date night had a wonderful tapas style meal. Various dishes that were all tasty, with attentive and friendly service. Great value and definitely coming back!

Ignore the reviews prior to May when this place was taken over!! We went here for lunch and was really impressed. Menu while not huge had something for everyone from vegetarian, gluten free and meat/seafood. The food portions were just the right size and all very tasty. The service was excellent and we look forward to returning for the evening entertainment that runs throughout the month. I would definitely recommend and will be back sans children!! It won't be long before this is in the top ten so go and try it before everyone finds out Stroud's new secret!

Mi esposa es de Venezuela, así que cuando tuvimos un restaurante venezolano / latino, estábamos muy emocionados.El primer problema, llamamos y tratamos de reservar para un viernes, pero nos dijeron que estaban llenos, así que nos ofrecieron un domingo.Cuando llegamos nos dieron el menú del domingo, pedimos el menú de Navidad ya que mi esposa realmente quería hallacas, pero la camarera nos dijo que necesitábamos reservar ese menú por teléfono, deberíamos haber sido informados sobre los diferentes menús cuando ofrecían nosotros el domingo por teléfono! Cuando llegamos, el personal era muy amable, y el ambiente era agradable, buena música.Pedimos pabellon criollo, la arepa era muy agradable, y el cerdo era muy agradable (no les quedaba carne).Aparte de eso, el plato carecía de sustancia y porción, por 14 esperaba un poco más, una pequeña cantidad de carne, una arepa. . no es suficiente, pero hay muchos frijoles negros suaves y arroz simple muy suave.Los platanos parecían no estar lo suficientemente maduros, y no eran tostones, era una mezcla extraña entre tostones y tajadas. Siento que esta es una mala representación de un plato nacional. Exppté mucho más.Los postres eran buenos pero no mucha variedad y todavía eran bastante básicos.Esperamos visitar nuevamente para probar otros artículos del menú.

Cuando vimos el Greyhound y pensamos en un almuerzo de pub rápido, almuerzo rápido sí, almuerzo de pub no, de hecho, mucho mejor un almuerzo latino, piense en la comida callejera venezolana. Sabroso, rápido, no grandes porciones pero abundante y a un precio razonable. Me inspira cocinar algo con frijoles negros y cuando volvemos a visitar Stroud, una visita de regreso para probar en otro momento está en las tarjetas.

Just brilliant to have such a vibrant bar/restaurant here in Stroud. The food is authentic, the welcome is warm and the cocktails are brilliant. There are live bands regularly and Stroud’s only listed gents loos (seriously). Highly recommended.

Compartimos algunas papas fritas de yuca con salsa de aguacate para comenzar, luego comí filete con salsa de chimichurri como plato principal. ¡El bistec se derritió en la boca y estaba tan delicioso!El personal era muy amable, ya que estaban en mi primera visita, y el servicio fue muy rápido a pesar de estar ocupado. Lovely bar & restaurant in Stroud. Lovely cocktails (very strong!). Friendly & attentive staff. Nice choice of food. Sharing plates were great & huge portions! A lot of seafood dishes on the menu, so as non-fish eaters, we were restricted a bit with our choices. Food was lovely though. Steak is the dish to have off of the main menu.

This place needs to be in the top 5 in Stroud, not no.62 as it is at the time of writing. The food is so fresh, the flavours and presentation something unique to Stroud, and the atmosphere is perfect. We shared a selection of the tapas and I'm now addicted to ceviche. Puddings were also outstanding. Eat here.

Been in twice for cocktails and really hope this place works out. Staff are really nice, cocktails are good. Look forward to eating there soon as the food smelt great.

In the weeks leading up to our meal Galgos were very friendly and accommodating for our party of 14, considering we had some who didn't like peppers (so they cooked the dish without them), we also had some who were GF, one who didn't like diary products and a couple of children with small appetites, nothing was too much trouble for the staff at Galgos. When we arrived at Galgos there was only one barman on, which meant bit of a wait/queue, whilst he was very friendly he was under a lot of pressure trying serve everyone waiting. But the cocktails were worth the wait! When the food arrived it looked amazing! The cheese sticks, whilst each one was huge, they were delicious! The GF party members ordered prawns for their main and the presentation & flavours were faultless. A couple had the fish (the GF version came without the light batter) and they went down well. The rest had the steak which was thoroughly tasty and there were clean plates and smiley faces all round. There was some Latin style music later in the evening, it wasn't too loud and it got people up and dancing. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thank you Galgos!

Went there for lunch over work and ordered the arepitas and a green tea. Really tasty - loads of flavour and the green tea made for a refreshing change. Thoroughly recommend this place -I look forward to sampling a cocktail or two one evening soon!

Warm staff coupled with great food and drinks makes for an ambience that reminded me of my beloved family in Venezuela. We started off thinking we’d have a quick drink before dinner and ended up tasting a few food items on the menu. Everything had a little bit of local twist, which makes sense, and everything was incredibly tasty. Indeed we ordered more than what we could eat. The atmosphere is comfortable and fun. Definitely a place that could easily become a regular.

Visited with a few friends and really liked the atmosphere and what they have done with the interior. I found the staff to be very friendly too. We only had a few cocktails, which were superb; some of the ingredients I had never tried before. Very refreshing considering most places sell the same old drinks! I didn’t try the food but what I seen looked great and will be stopping by again for longer next time.

Really nice place for a couple of drinks or for dinner. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. My wife is Latin American and she says the food tastes like home, so that’s how authentic the food is. Can’t recommend the place enough!

Have always wanted to try this place since it was promoted in the local paper and finally got that opportunity today!My partner and I had chicken arepitas and crab tostones. I was told the chef wasn’t happy with my arepita and wanted to make me another one. We were offered some of the cheesy breadsticks for free in the meantime - which more than made up for it, they were so so good.The garlic mayo sauce was delicious as was all of the food when it came out. My partner really enjoyed his mocha too.Shame we were too full for dessert but will definitely be coming back. The service was great and the lady running it when we arrived was incredibly pleasant and friendly. Also loved the colourful and creative decor!(Sorry if I spelt any of the dishes wrong)

Went in for a beer and saw some of the food coming out... had a meal and it was one of the best we’ve had in Stroud for a while (and we’ve tried a few!). Lovely set up and great service ... can’t recommend this place enough if you’re after something a little bit different and good value. Will definitely be going back there soon.

I went with my husband and we loved this place. Oriana was so warm and smiling all the time.We eat so much!!! We tried the Cubanito which we loved it! I can’t believe how a sandwich can taste so good! I loved the traditional ceviche and the cheesy fingers (tequeños) were amazing! For dessert we had chocolate tequeños with ice cream! OMG this was another level. They were amazingI definitely recommend this place and we will go back!

Went there for a drink with friends and thought that £2.70 for half pint of lager was overpriced. Sat on a wooden bench seat with no cushion. The alternative was a red, plastic-looking chair, again with no cushion. My friends said their meals were good but prices were high and portions were small. I will try it again if there is a 'music night' but would not go there on a normal night out.

As someone else said, a mixed bag. We were quite excited by the arrival of this Latin-themed bar/restuarant but the reality was a little bit disappointing. The staff tried really hard but there was some key ingredients missing. The place is crying out for some front-of-house organisation. It took an age for our orders to be taken and even longer for our drinks to arrive. The menu, too, is almost but not quite, neither tapas nor raciones, However, some of the dishes were excellent - the cheese sticks went down particularly well and I enjoyed the cubanito sandwich. I suspect the owners lack experience but I commend them for their efforts to breathe new life into an old Stroud pub that had, effectively, died. Will try again in a few months time and hope the organisational glitches have settled down and the menu improved a little.

Pero salir a comer es un lujo en estos días y es necesario que haya un montón o debe tener un wow. El menú de tapas se centra en vege / vegan, así que nos fuimos a los platos principales. Popped in on a whim with my partner and toddler. Ended up staying for a light meal, pint and a cocktail. All were delicious! Wonderful service and lovely decor. We will definitely be back soon!

As a food explorer Galgos is a real treat. The menu offered a range of interesting tapas style dishes from across the South Americas. Fantastic hosts introducing us to a new culinary experience. Loved it!

Not exactly the same menu that one can get from Bangkok but this will do. When one is so far away from Southeast Asia and craving for spicy yummy flavorful Thai food, this place can do no wrong. PS: The mussels dish was so good, I had two!

Disappointed to discover have been advised has closed. Tried ringing/messaging/emailing for info-no response to any. Was hoping to call for snacks & drinks with a group of friends Called in last year, was very quiet but was late afternoon. so was good for us all Will have to spend money & time somewhere else

Made the mistake of ordering cocktails here which were on offer - 2-4-1. We ordered 2 x two different cocktails. Neither were enjoyable, and what was supposed to be two of the same cocktail didn't even look alike.

The Greyhound put on such great entertainment this year at the Fringe Festival! It was certainly the place to be on the busy evenings! Cant wait to get back there next year!

this place is dingy and somewhat uninviting, but they have this amazing orangey cocktail with vodka and gin and it comes in a tin cup and I loooooved it. We also played pool, which costs a pound. The staff also seem quite friendly!

Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and great food. My favourite place for a relaxing drink and spot of lunch. The homemade burgers are very tasty and great value. Everyone should try this place out.

Totally disgraceful. Overpriced grubby little joint. Ordered 2 toasty's and one bowl of cheesy jerk chips, came to over £17 ! The chips were £4.95 , I was expecting something spectacular only to receive a bowl no bigger than an ashtray laced in a spicy brown sauce topped with stringy mozzarella! Gross. The whole place needed a clean and paint was chipped off all the walls. The toilets were a massive no go !Thought I'd try here as it was hammering down with rain and the reviews were good... What an absolute joke that is, they obviously aren't true reading.

Muy buena comida!Pero el servicio era muy lento y los inodoros donde muy sucia, nos dijeron que el personal y señalaron las mujeres puede utilizar el aseo de hombres pero tuvimos problemas con la puerta. Higiene no tan bueno.

An old comfortable pub, with very friendly and helpful staff. Central to Stroud town. Good range of hot drinks too that are well presented.
