Came across this lovely pub by chance. Even though they were extremely busy managed to squeeze us in for Sunday lunch which was delicious. 2 of us had pudding which again was obviously home made and delicious. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating made us feel very at home and welcome. We at first sat in the bar which was a typical old fashioned pub and later moved to the lovely conservatory for lunch. The grounds are beautiful in a glorious setting in the West Sussex countryside. Can’t wait to visit again and make it a regular event. The prices were very reasonable too.

Visited 27/7 for lunch, having been there several times before. Friendly greeting and introduction to our waitress Courtney. Between us we had the fishcakes, cod and chips and the sea bass, all very flavoursome, nicely presented and on hot plates. We certainly enjoyed ourselves and appreciated the service provided by Courtney.

Really Really disappointed! Food took forever to be served. The staff were very young and didn't seem to know what they were doing! My husband banged his head on a low door frame, it broke the skin and was bleeding, no staff spoke to us about it or come to make sure he was ok! Asked for the accident book, they didn't have a clue! Eventually they came with a A5 note pad but again didn't know what to do!! The manager should be ashamed cos the staff truly have not been trained properly!!

We came to this pub a few years ago and had one of the best meals we'd ever had so decided to drive 1hr 15 minutes to have another one. Unfortunately it was completely different very average. It was edible but that's all I can say really. Nothing special at all. I'm not sure if the chef was off for night but it definitely was very poor.

Booked for a Sunday lunch on the way back from football, called to say we maybe early, no problem, arrived early to be shown to our reserved table. Landlord greeted us and asked about the football and let us know what specials / roasts were left so we could order before they went as it was around 5pm. Managed to get the last beef which was exceptional. Melt in the mouth, home made yorkies were to die for and the roast potatoes were spot on. Wife had the roast pork which was one of the best she’s eaten, absolutely superb and top top value for money. I honestly don’t believe you can get a Sunday roast anywhere this god for the money and I eat in some spectacular Michelin Star restaurants with work. So so good. Our 13yr old has the the homemade burger which he said was one of the best he’s had. So wanted a desert but we were so stuffed from the mains and starters that we could hardly move. The landlord then joined us for a beer at the end, he’d recommended an ale i hasn’t had before and was more than happy to make sure it was what I’d like. The house Red according to my wife was smooth and light a perfect accompaniment to her roast. Would definitely recommend to anyone passing through Midhurst. A hidden Gem 10/10, family friendly and also judging by the other clientele dog friendly too. We will be back. Thankyou

No one to greet us when we entered. Ended up taking our own menu outside. Ordered and then waited at least half an hour for food. When waitress was asked how much longer it would be she was rude and just kept saying it would be out in a bit. When we did receive the food we then had to go and retrieve our own cutlery. Food was also not that great. Garlic Ciabatta made for a good drumstick on the bowl!

3 off us on route to GOODWOOD Revival. Stopped for breakfast. £10 for full English and toast, with tea or coffee and orange juice - good. Time to order and serve (only one other group (3)) in pub - slow but just acceptable. Coffe & tea came quick, toast followed ( no marmalade, etc.) 3 breakfast took time to arrive (toast eaten) . Unfortunately the black pudding, sausages were very over cooked. Running late, hungry after quick family discussion decided to eat. Did mention to proprietor the issue - excuse “ new “chef” not cooked breakfast before!!!! 2 out of 5 could do better. Hope this helps all round.

The two of us went for Today lunch so it was not busy. There are plenty of tables outside but ate in. Very friendly laid back atmosphere. Go up to bar to order or they will come to you, and I ran a tab. We both had salmon, which we enjoyed with veg and some extra nice touches but perhaps not quite as large as we expected for £18 each. cappuccino creme brûlée was a bit different too. Pleasant experience.

Stopped here for a drink and probably a meal as it was a nice sunny day. There were a few people dining and 2 or 3 at the bar area tables. There was no one at the bar so we waited to be served, and waited.... and waited. We saw one member of staff going in and out with some boxes so we carried on waiting and waiting and eventually gave up and left. Sorry Greyhound people your loss turned into another, more accommodating, pub's gain. We won't return!

Set back from the main road in South Downs National Park nicely refurbished pub with a large garden with well spaced tables. The interior of the pub is fairly small so they are mainly making use of their large airy conservatory restaurant for dining. Amazingly ours was the only occupied table throughout Friday evening and the pleasant girl serving told us that Friday was usually their busiest night but they had been busier earlier in the week with people taking advantage of the Government August deal so it seems true that Mon-Wed is the new weekend at least in August.. In consequence no atmosphere as we ate unfortunately. Good menu plus a small list of specials with a number of fish dishes plus standard pub classics, the grilled fish platter with sauce and the chicken breast in a stilton sauce with saute potatoes and nice fresh veg were both well cooked and enjoyable. Prices represented very good value indeed. Wine list okay nothing out of the ordinary good choice of lagers and real ales.

We took my mother here for lunch on Sunday before going for a country walk at nearby Bepton with the dog. I only booked the evening before and tried 2 other pubs before finding space for us here. It was a very good 3rd choice! Seemed popular with locals eating and we could understand why - well presented and very tasty food in good sized portions. Plenty of choice on the menu and we had 3 different roast dinners - lamb, pork belly which came with a lovely big piece of proper crackling and a nut roast. All came with lots of gravy, a Yorkshire pud and a side dish each of veg including cauli and broccoli cheese which I love. I'm not a roast potatoes fan but my husband is and he deemed them excellent! We then shared a Bailey's cheesecake with salted caramel ice cream and a very rich chocolate mousse type thing - scrummy! The back garden had countryside views and well spaced tables. Also front garden seating but the road is quite busy so back is preferable. Dining areas inside were attractive with smart furniture including a conservatory dining room. Staff were young and helpful and wore masks to serve the food. Ordering is at the bar but spaced. Basically all good! Photos of lamb roast and cheesecake attached. The other dishes got eaten too quickly to get photos of them!!

This must have been one of my favourite lunches in years! I met up with my sister and her family for a lunch with my father who unfortunately couldn't attend due to ill health but I did tell him that he missed a treat as a lover of fish!I would normally chose a chicken dish but I thought how tempting the mixed grill of fish with fricassee sauce sounded so I ordered this with new potatoes. Wow! It was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had! Fish a plenty with sea bass, king prawns, salmon amongst others. The sauce was divine and the whole dish was cooked to perfection! My sister had the same and was as equally impressed. The men in our group had burgers and scampi and were all impressed (my partner loved the thick home cooked chips!). All the dishes were very reasonably priced! We found the whole dining experience a pleasure. The staff were lovely and professional and the social distancing operation was run very well and we felt very safe in this environment. All in all, one of the best meals I have had with lovely surroundings and friendly staff. I highly recommend this pub and restaurant, the best by far in the area! Give this lovely hostelry a try, you won't be disappointed :-)

We were passing through so stopped at The Greyhound Midhurst. We sat in the garden which was pleasant as the sun was shining, firstly we went to order at the bar to be told to come back in five minutes as the kitchen was very busy. We ordered and when our roast beef came, oh my goodness. I could not eat the beef as it was very rare, not tender and full of gristle. The vegetables were over cooked and mushy. I ate the roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and just about the vegetables. When the waitress came over and took our plates she asked if everything had been ok. I let her know that I couldn’t eat the beef as it was full of gristle, now at this point I did expect at least for her to acknowledge this with an apology. She did not, she didn’t say a word just cleared the plates and that was that. My husband went into the pub to pay and heard the waitress telling the guy behind the bar whose comment was “ they shouldn’t be so fussy, what do people expect it’s a village pub”. With that my husband paid and we left. If you are to read this anyone from the greyhound, our comment to you is. We have visited many village pubs and have never encountered such bad food and such rude comments by staff. This is most definitely one place we will never visit again or recommend.

Four of us visited for lunch, the triple cooked chips were dreadful, tasted like they had been cooked days before and then reheated. Scampi was over cooked. Mia was the only member of staff that was friendly and welcoming, the other waitress was miserable and had attitude . Then the cook came out and just lulled over the bar, not a good look .

The pub is cozy and lovely with a burning fire place. The staff were attentive. I had a gin and my husband had a beer. My gin was good. However my husband said his beer was terrible.

Just wanting to go out to one of our local pubs for dinner having heard good things and having eaten there many times we decided to visit. The food I cannot complain about but the service was in no other words terrible, plates left, tables being moved during us eating just complete disrespect, no surprise really as young girls are being left To run the pub it’s like an adults play zone. Such a shame and we won’t be returning.

We were looking for an all day food restaurant at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon and we found this gem. We were greeted by friendly staff and served politely and the food was excellent. Lovely atmosphere and décor in the restaurant and clean toilets, what more could you ask. Will certainly be returning here.

We have been going to this lovely pub for almost 20 years. It is our local and to be honest, it never, ever disappoints. The food is always good, the staff are brilliant and the fire in the winter is great in the cold winter months. For those with children there is an outside area to keep them happy and occupied. Give it a go, you won’t be sorry!

Nice looking pub, inside, and out. Staff very friendly. The food was ok for most of us, however the parsnip dish on the menu was dire. Like most other pubs, doing sunday roasts, they just cant get the potatoes right. And the veg was very small, per person. Sunday roast on mass is hard to get right, and most pubs will alwats get let down by roast potatoes, and the selection of veg they choose to serve.

We came here for lunch with our greyhound (couldn't resist with the name!). There is plenty of parking and we received a warm welcome. I had macaroni cheese and my husband had a steak. The food was really good and the pub is lovely with an open fire and low-beamed ceilings. Would definitely recommend!

We had dinner there, getting the bus from Cocking where our B&B; was. The service was great and the food superb. I had a delicious sticky toffee pudding for dessert, even though my girlfriend initially declined the dessert menu while I was in the toilets. Nice ales.

We visited last Sunday for an evening roast. We were informed that only roast dinners were available, but that suited us well. There was beef, pork, lamb and vegetarian options. All came with lots of gravy, enormous Yorkshire puddings and individual side dishes of vegetables (including cauliflower cheese, which I love!). The service was very good and there was a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Gemma and her team from Tiffins of Petworth provided the catering for my mum's 8oth birthday party in the garden. I could not be happier with the service they provided. The food was superb, delicious and beautifully presented, they were relaxed, friendly and well organised and the whole service was reasonably priced. They went to so much effort to make everything as easy and stress free for us and really were a highlight of the day. They exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend them. The Cafe is also lovely and has the same level of care, service and delicious food. A real asset to Petworth.

Visited here for afternoon tea. Welcome was ok, but then we waited for a while to see if there was a free table. Bizarrely no one else was in the cafe and the upstairs service where we were seated was almost unfriendly and you felt you were in the way. When we asked for a spoon for our tea we were greeted with a huff and puff… Gets good reviews elsewhere, but sadly not from us..

My wife’s aunt and cousin enthused about this pub so we decided to have lunch with them on a Thursday in November. The pub is signposted from the main road and is down a narrow lane to Chidham with passing places at intervals. The car park at the back is not so large so many visitors seem to park in the village. Virtually every table was taken which is always a good sign for mid week dining. The four of us had a variety off of dishes and my seafood tagliatelle was delicious. We were very impressed with the speed of service from the two lovely ladies and lively atmosphere of the pub. The portions are quite large so if you have a smaller appetite we would recommend their small portion menu. My wife’s cousin recommended the mussels which were not on the menu the day we visited so we must return to try them. A very enjoyable lunch catching up with old friends too.
