5 of us went for a birthday celebration, my comments: The Ranmore - a new beer to me, it was very good and well kept. Four of us had the Spicy Pumpkin soup - all of us agreed far too spicy. One main veggie option mushroom risotto - My wife couldnt eat it, gave it to me and neither could I as mushrooms hard and unusual flavour, lots of it though! I had the roast lamb which I enjoyed, meat was good although I didn't need the yorkshire pud with it, not what would be expected with lamb and considered a rather cheap filler. The cauli cheese sauce was not the best either. Other orders were roast beef and a couple of camembert's, all of which were enjoyed. However, the website states that over 6 guests then a 10% service charge automatically added. Personally I really dont like this practice especially as there was only 5 of us. Call me old fashioned but my theory is give me an all inclusive clear headline price, pay the staff well and if I'm happy I'll leave a tip! This service charge practice is underhand as not clear, a negative experience and seems to be catching on. It's not RyanAir! In the case of the young staff at the Greets - they were all excellent and I would have happily paid a good tip so why coerced to do so? (I appreciate others may not). The atmosphere was very good, a busy pub with a good clientel. Overall, better than average but a generous very good!

1st off let me say the staff are lovely, they are friendly, warm and welcoming. The property is picturesque, quaint, filled with old world charm. Unfortunately the food doesn’t match as it is below par vs surrounding pubs in the area. Going there for Sunday lunch, the restaurant area was packed with dinners, they weee probably on their 3rd sitting of the day. Starters of deep fried Camembert was good, the nachos were a bit sad with the topping of only a hard melted cheese, tomato salsa but then we are used to Mexican food in the US. The main courses were the disappointing part, the fish and chips, the batter was oily and flat, not chips but potato wedges that were soft but without the crispy edge and rock hard peas. The roast lamb that was ordered tasted more like roast beef and it was chewy and stringy with hard veins of fat. Cold hard roast potatoes that also had no crispy edge, the award winning gravy was watery and tasteless. Accompanying vegetables were good, soft and hot. Cheese board was okay but expensive at 10.95. The whole meal for 2 came in at just over 100 pounds which is not cheap for a pub meal

We enjoyed our food but the restaurant was so cold. Wished I'd put boots and thicker jacket on! When we arrived the place was almost empty. I noticed most customers kept their coats on whilst eating and it was a very warm day outside. We had a lunch there in April and was sitting by the open fire - unfortunately it wasn't lit. Again we had to keep our coats on.

Visited after a pick up from Gatwick. The venue said last orders 1930 but lots if locals arrived afterwards. All welcomed by name. Fish course was sold out, but a local arrived and a portion had been saved fir her. Quite nice food good sized portions but thr Yorkshire was far too crisp only no other texture really. Eton mess very sweet and huge. Nice staff. Clean toilet with a "Bond" theme.

An excellent meal. Myself and my two brothers enjoyed a pint or two of Harvey's for my birthday. Two of us had the fish pie with a yummy cheesy mash topping. Generous scrumptious bits of various fish and prawns in a herby creamy sauce. The third meal was the chicken pie, chips and vegetables. Nice to see the gravey served separately in a wee jug. No starters, pudding or coffee. The bill was £90, not cheap but a lovely birthday meal. Superb service from the wonderful staff.

We were welcomed to stay in the pub carpark overnight too. Cannot recommend this place anymore. If travelling that way again would defo go back. Thank you to all the staff and locals for making us feel so welcome 🥰

Food was good, well presented and tasty, though we had to wait over an hour past our booking time before the food arrived. Not much choice with beer (real ale) and what they had was not to my liking. Getting the attention of waitresses was not easy - but they were pleasant enough when they did speak to us. Minor gripes aside, the quality of the food wins out.

A wonderful birthday lunch which was made all the more special by the amazing food and service. The staff are phenomenal and the food was absolutely delicious. We have visited many times now and every single time we have been delighted. We have a young family needing room for a pram/pushchair and we are always accepted and accommodated superbly. The fish cakes are particularly good while the brownie with honeycomb ice cream is just sumptuous. The owners make the experience exceptional and we cannot thank them enough, every time we have visited I have wanted to give my compliments to the chef! I cannot comment on the roast as we’ve not done a Sunday but the Monday - Saturday menu is tremendous (don’t miss the specials board which is always top notch). The menu is reasonably priced and the portions are generous in our opinion - we never leave wanting! A must visit. Thank you so very much to the Greets Inn team - as you can tell we’re becoming regulars!!

The pub itself was very nice and the atmosphere was good. Between us we ordered one roast beef and one roast half chicken. Unfortunately the beef was overcooked on the beef roast and was chewy. The chicken was cooked well but was advertised as coming with "pigs in blankets" which is clearly plural but there was only one on the plate which was a shame. The roast potatoes on both plates were extremely large which meant the middle was chalky and not cooked all the way through. The outside of the potatoes were also not crispy which was a shame. Neither roast came with much gravy and we asked for more but it never arrived. The seasonal vegetables that accompanied the meal were broccoli and carrots but there's was 2 bits of broccoli and about 4 carrots between 2 people which arrived on a small side plate, which was not enough. The roasts were on the more expensive side (£21 ) and this did not reflect the quality of the food. It is a shame because the pub itself seemed nice and the staff were friendly, but I would not go there for a roast again and would not recommend with so many other good pubs in the area which do better quality roasts for less money

Booked table for 2 for Easter Sunday, we were shown into a windowless cupboard like dingy room that supposedly seats 10 people. We sat where we were shown which clearly when sat would have been disturbed by waiting staff bringing in food or clearing away tables as there was no room left for waiting staff to squeeze through. Also the thought of eating in such a confined space with a large smelly dog almost under our table was just too much. We asked to be moved but got the usual reply that there were no other tables available. I would have thought that as we had booked almost 3 weeks prior that a decent table would have been given at the start. Greets Inn you have lost at least 2 customers, probably more now as family used to go to your pub but now will not.

We went for Sunday lunch with friends as the Greets had been recommended and we were really looking forward to it. The service could not be faulted and the starters were good. However, the roasts were disappointing. The “roast” potatoes were hard and didn’t look as though they had been anywhere near an oven, they were pale and hard. The cauliflower cheese was awful. As described in a previous review the cheese sauce was watery and unpleasant. The food was warm rather than hot. I’m sure the landlord will be commenting but we weren’t the only people unimpressed - we overheard another table complaining (to the landlord) about how undercooked the potatoes were. Shame.

Visited today for a birthday/Christmas family meal. All of us had pre ordered the Christmas menu. The food was absolutely delicious, various starters and desserts and we all had the turkey for main. However the reason I feel compelled to write a review is the level of service we received today was beyond 10/10. The group of girls who were attending to us were so attentive. Frequently being checked upon whether it was asking for more drinks, checking everything was ok, fetching extra gravy etc it felt like we were private dining in a 5 star hotel. I don't know their names however I can say my family were so impressed with how wonderfully we were looked after. A very very enjoyable meal.

My husband and I booked for dinner. I had roast pork which on the whole was good. The cauliflower cheese however was anything but cheesy. They had melted some cheese over the top and it looked delicious. But as soon as you got under that bit of added topping, it was tasteless and watery. He then knocked over the salt grinder after I had used it and it was disgustingly rusty. I wondered why I had brown bits in my salt. It was that bad I pictured it and pointed it out to the waitress who said she would mention it to someone.....and then didn't seem to do anything about it. I would have removed it straight away. The table next to ours was the same. I also don't appreciate having service charge added without any mention of it beforehand. I will decide how much tip I leave!!

Felt the friendly atmosphere as soon as we entered and were approached by smiling member of staff. Had wonderful food and chef genuinely interested in our thoughts about the superb food. (Not just a staff member blandly asking if everything was ok with our meals). The standards of freshly cooked food are very high and better than a number of restaurants that I have been to recently. Standards of hygiene and cleanliness are still very high, which is very pleasing with the reduced covid restrictions. We will definitely be back!

This was a long overdue catch-up with 4 of our friends, 2 of whom we haven't seen for 2 years and the other 2 for over 4 years. We chose this pub rather by default than choice (the place my friend thought she'd booked was shut and she'd booked the wrong day!) but what a great thing that proved to be.We were warmly greeted by the staff and quickly shown to our table. The menu selection is very varied and everything looked tempting, so it took us a while to select our choices. For starters 5 of us had nachos whilst 1 had the pumpkin soup. For mains we had beef cheeks, scampi, ale battered fish of the day, spicy chicken cajun burger and allotment burger.Everybody was very impressed with their meal selection, particularly the beef cheeks which were delicious, simply melted in the mouth with a lovely rich sauce. We all managed pudding, particularly as you can have a "bite size and hot drink". So the choices were banoffee pie, creme brulee, triple chocolate brownie, and sticky toffee pudding. The staff were very attentive but not intrusive and even found the time to have a chat with us. Natalie was most entertaining! We were all impressed with the quality of the food, size of the portions and value for money - in fact we were surprised that the bill for the 6 of us was less than £30 per person. Thanks to everybody concerned for making our long overdue catch-up so enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this establishment but would recommend booking a table in advance to avoid disappointment as it is very popular.I hope that my husband and I (whether with or without our friends) will be back again in the not too distant future.

We booked for a family dinner on a Saturday night. The garden room is gorgeous and the owners have put a lot of work into making it a very attractive area to sit outside. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and service was very friendly and efficient in a lovely safe environment.Since reopening this has been one of the most Covid Safe places we have visited which is one of the reasons we return regularly for drinks. One way system, masks required, tables marked as clean and hand sanitizers provided, and importantly these measures are enforced. I am glad that the owners had chosen to continue with these measures at a time when infections levels are so high in order to protect their staff and indeed those of us who choose to visit.I can only assume that the review that has criticised this establishment regarding its COVID measures is from someone who resents having to comply with them.We would highly recommend the Greets to anyone who enjoys good food in a lovely friendly environment whilst appreciating and respecting the necessity for COVID measures to protect us all.

This is a pleasant and friendly pub to visit just for a drink however the food leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered whitebait to start which was average at best and for main I ordered the rack of ribs which I'm sure must of come from a petrified mammoth it was so dry and had very little BBQ sauce with it this was plonked on soggy fries which I could not season as there was nowhere else to put the mammoth ribs. The corn on the cob was under cooked and vertically cold and the onion rings as far as I could make out were just batter certainly I couldn't find the onion. My wife's meal wasn't much better. The menu reads Fish Pie packed with various fish and prawns with broccoli and carrots. So she was expecting a fish pie with veg on the side. The waitress asked if she wanted extra veg and my wife said no thank you as it already comes with veg. When it arrived it was a microwaved dish with white and pink fish mixed with the broccoli in the pie and only one prawn ,no carrot to be seen and a bit of cheese melted on top. More like a broccoli pie than fish I would say.We mentioned all of this to the waitress at the end of the meal but no one came to discuss the matter so we paid up and left. The landlord seems to defend most bad reviews here by saying that it should have been mentioned at the time,, well it was and to no avail so why bother.Needless to say we will not be returning

I have to agree with the comments made my Karen in the review below. We weren't late and nor was it raining but our 'greeting' was very cold. When I asked what beers were available on tap and I was told San Miguel and one other lager I was surprised. I asked if that were the only beer to be responded with 'we have ales'. So I had to ask what ales they had. Although a pleasant day our table was in the shade by a wide open window and we were feeling uncomfortably cold and so I asked if the window could be closed. I was told in no uncertain terms that it couldn't be with no offer of an alternative table by one of the windows that wasn't open. I was also reprimanded for standing from my seat without putting my mask on when a polite 'may I ask' would have been suffice, it was the only occasion I had slipped up The table staff were faultless but the lady who I assume to be the landlady was unnecessarily hostile and made for an unpleasant experience, indeed it very much spoiled the occassion

Unfortunately our experience was marred by the very unwelcome greeting and then ticking off given to one of our party by the landlady. We had a table booked from 2-4pm, a couple were running late but 2/6 arrived on time only for them to be then lectured on time keeping. So unnecessary. Once we were all at the table by 2.20pm we ordered quickly, the rest of the staff were friendly and efficient, the food arrived in good time. At 3.25pm the landlady approached our table telling us we would need to vacate the table by 3.45pm. We visited in October for lunch. The pub has done a great job of being Covid compliant (one way system, tables spread out, masks, hand sanitiser, etc etc). The lady who seated us explained all the measures in place. It didn't seem to be putting people off as by the time we left, there were plenty of people there. What we did appreciate that they weren't just paying lip service to the Covid measures. A couple who ignored the "please wait here to be seated" sign and weren't wearing masks had the error of their ways pointed out to them. It can't be easy for staff to do this in an era where people can take that kind of thing really badly. As for the food, the portions were huge and hearty. I have never seen such a large pork chop and they weren't stingy with the mashed potato either. The only thing that wasn't big was the final bill. Great value for money and next time we're in the area, we won't hesitate to return.

Great Saturday lunch with friends. Friendly service with a smile and the necessary covid restrictions. Complimentary welcome drink of mulled wine or hot chocolate was a very pleasant surprise and both were delicious. Good choice of menu, I’d recommend the fish pie and burger. They’ve made a real effort by erecting the large garden tent and distributing patio heaters. Local businesses are an essential part of the community in economic, social and cultural terms. It’s really important to support people right now and when you get great grub, good drink and service with a smile it’s a delight. Pop down over Christmas, you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely lasagne and garlic bread meal. Very generous portion for 4 people. Plus cajun chicken burger, which is a family favourite. Highly recommended. Ordered and paid for in advance. Food brought to the car in covid friendly manner at the agreed time. The system works well. And the food is great.

Went for Sunday lunch after a trip to Warnham nature reserve. Sat in the outdoor tent area which was lovely. Warm and dry despite the rain and very cosy and atmospheric. Had Sunday roasts which were delicious and dessert as well which was also good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely will be heading back after lockdown!

Went for dinner and had a wonderful evening. The menu is up on a black board so no need to worry about touching it, there is a one way system and plenty of hand sanitizer to use. Felt very safe in terms of Covid. The fire was on the food was lovely and staff very friendly and helpful. I will definitely recommend this this pub.

Booked for lunch. Now there are several new dishes on the menu which is great and the standard of cooking is still high. Well spaced out tables inside and ours was by the fire. Love it, thank you. We will be back again very soon.

Friendly, efficient and great food! Visited for my mums birthday today who was a little nervous about eating out since covid. We were met at the door and told table wasn’t ready which was no problem so waited in outside area until called. Lots of covid safe organisation and delicious food and very friendly service. I’ve been wanting to try since moving to BBH for a couple of years and was not disappointed at all. Looking forward to coming again soon! Only tiny suggestion as it’s getting colder is maybe some heaters in the outside area if the tables not ready :)

I met a friend for lunch at The Greets Inn this week and was very impressed with the Covid-19 procedures that they had in place. A fantastic canopy over the tables in the garden meant we could still sit outside as it was warm but raining. Very clear instructions from the friendly staff along with obvious signposting. We felt safe and well cared for. On top of all that the food was delicious. Fish pie followed by sticky toffee pudding. Going back in November as I believe they are installing outside heaters.

Visited the Greets Inn last night - as always the food was delicious. The pub has gone to great lengths to be Covid safe and it feels very safe. Loads of spacing indoors where we sat yesterday and a lovely garden room outside which we visited last month. Staff are really welcoming and ensure that masks are worn and sanitiser used as appropriate. Do visit and give this very lovely pub your support - the food is fabulous and is a beacon of enjoyment in these otherwise difficult times.

We arrived and followed all instructions as per displayed blackboards. We sat at a table with no reserved signs in the outside garden area. We were met by a very rude owner who addressed us with disdain and an appalling attitude.I appreciate Covid has meant extra regulations but please be mindful of your tone, especially in front of children- lead by example to your staff; especially if you are the owner Natalie! I am not accustomed to being spoken to in such a manner and find it wholly unacceptable under any circumstances! Is it too much for you to talk to your customers in a pleasant manner?Conversely, if you are looking for a warm, welcoming atmosphere, then drive two minutes down the road at the Sussex Oak, where we were met with a smile! We will not be returning and I will be sharing our experience with friends.

We were looking forward to our first visit to the Greets after reading the good reviews. Not impressed! Shown to a table which had a sticky surface. Not cleaned? Meals were below average. Meat pie and few chips no vegetables. Very disappointing! While we accept Covid has had an effect on all eating establishments there was simply no atmosphere.

We visit here most weeks now for dinner and the food is always faultless. As the weather was not great this week we opted for more hearty food in the form of a fish pie and a steak pie, both equally good.

We would have got back here sooner as we very much enjoyed our first visit, but due to lockdown it has taken a while. It was very busy due to the Eat Out Scheme so we’d suggest booking ahead. The food was good second time around, the fish pie was particularly delicious, a good choice of salads and the beer selection was also good. They have clearly invested a lot on their outside space to allow for more covers with the current pandemic situation as inside is very small, this meant we could dine outside despite the weather not being great. We were told to order at the bar and this meant following their one way system which is quite a long route and when raining is not ideal! This is fair enough given the current situation but maybe just at least taking a drinks order upon arrival would be helpful to save multiple trips in the rain or having to sit with no drinks whilst you make your menu choices. We were also a little disappointed when we then saw another table having their drinks and food order taken at the table when we were categorically told no table service outside and their bill even brought to them at the end, clearly they were regulars and the rest of us just have to walk to order and pay! Over all we enjoyed our visit, definitely good food and we would return on this basis but we couldn’t help but feel that the Covid procedures have killed the atmosphere a little. It is of course great to see that any establishment is taking the matter seriously and enforcing the appropriate rules but there is a fine line between doing what is required and taking the relaxed pleasure of dining out away. We have visited other establishments recently who are still absolutely following the guidelines but haven’t lost that personal touch and nice atmosphere. This is our reason for eating as a 4 and not a 5 as we did on our first visit here.

I cannot believe this is only the second time I have visited The Greets Inn! Booking was easy and you can book an outside table, which was a god-send in this heatwave. We arrived, were instructed to sanitise our hands and then shown to our table in the Garden Room (a wonderful investment!) The menu is on a big board outside and then you walk into the bar to order and pay. The food and drinks arrived quickly and were excellent. Staff were very attentive and were in face shields (props to them for wearing them in the extreme heat!) Tables were wiped down between each sitting and there was a one-way system in place for the bar/toilets. Natalie (one of the owners) was serving and was so friendly. She made lovely conversation with us and at the end of our meal, even offered to let us stay and chat in the shade after she'd closed up for her lunch. They are currently running the eat out scheme, so our meal was an absolute steal too. We will most certainly be returning! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Well done Greets. Beautiful meal in a friendly and safe setting. Deep fried Camembert is to die for and the Crayfish salad is so right for a summer evening. Son had his favourite sausage and mash. Cajun chicken burger was a big hit as was the old faithful steak burger. Daughter went for steak and was a very happy carnivore. I wimped out of dessert but am reliably informed the brownie and creme brulee were delicious. Still here. Lovely atmosphere so staying for coffee.....

I went to the greets inn, Warnham with a friend for a girls lunch. It was absolutely lovely, the food was amazing and friendly people too. With Covid going on my friend who is not well was worried about going out but we needn’t have worried at all. They have done everything and more to make your visit a truly pleasant experience. They have tables in the sun and a huge canopy if you want shade or even if it’s raining, they have you covered. Will definitely be going back ASAP x

In light of the awful virus our local pub has decided to offer a takeaway menu. We are very passionate about supporting them and helping getting them through this awful time. Tonight we ordered a fish pie and burger. Both delicious and perfectly cooked. We do live in Warnham so the food was hot when we got it home. The owner comes out to your car so no social interaction (as per our Government rules) and gives you the food in takeaway containers. It is great to see this business trying to serve our village and I would urge everyone - where you can- to get behind them, the food is great.

Visited the greets for my birthday booked relatively last minute. A nice welcome and good service but unfortunately that is where the experience tails off. The reason being was the food was below average, we understand consistency is always tough. But lamb shank pie had raw pastry and overcooked lamb and my wife’s mussels were generally empty or closed. To be fair the starters of scotch egg and pâté was fine. But just dissapppointed for a birthday meal. We used to be regulars and real advocates of the greets but the food has disappointed too many times. Service and environment is great but get the food right!!!

The atmosphere was welcoming warm and friendly. The menu was designed to suit everyone’s taste. We both had Stilton and broccoli soup which was very tasty and sufficient as a starter. The haddock and triple cooked chips were devine. The batter was light and tasty. The whole meal was superb and well priced. Sadly the heavens opened, but the bar manager went the extra mile by driving us back to our hotel in the village. What more could you ask for? British hospitality at its best. We certainly didn’t expect such kindness and compassion. Thank you SO much.

Oh Dear! What has happened here? Went with a group of friends for Lunch which we had done earlier in the year when we had a superb meal . The menu was imaginative, food well cooked and presented and we were expecting a similar experience BUT the menu now presented was a great disappointment. No starters on offer , a very basic menu with little choice of dishes requiring no skill to produce . Three specials which were not special-more basics . What we had was OK and the service was pleasant and helpful but we will not return unless a more interesting menu does. The choice in Henfield is becoming more and more limited.

We have often passed this attractive looking pub but this time decided to stop for a late lunch. We were warmly greeted and shown a nice table by a window. The decor is very stylish, creating a good atmosphere. Our drinks order was taken and delivered promptly, as was our meal order. M had beef and ale pie and I had grilled chicken served with pappardelle and a creamy sauce. I love pasta and this was a delicious dish. M declared the pie to be first rate. We were going to be good and resist pudding but succumbed to a mini dessert with coffee - caramelised profiteroles. A perfect round off to an excellent meal. We will be back.
