Lovely breakfast in a garden centre. We called here on our way home on a Sunday as the Highwayman was closed. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection on lovely homemade bread. The bacon sandwich again on homemade bread was so tasty, and wow.... the hash browns were so crispy! Lovely service and all served very prompt. Will definitely call again.

The best bacon bap ever! Nice crispy bacon on homemade bap. Bread baked fresh everyday on the premises. We have also had their cappuccino fresh cream cake which is absolutely to die for. We've been many times to this tearoom and never had bad service or bad food. Stopped at this tearoom on route to the east coast. Only once had to stay at the cafe down the road cos the greenhouse tearoom was closed but we will not be going down the road again.

One of our favourite cafes; so much better than the average garden centre offering. Interesting, slightly unusual and very good light meals, cakes and excellent sourdough loaves to take away. We sometimes go there even if we aren't visiting the garden centre. Highly recommended

We visited on Sun July 30th & ordered 2x coffees & 2x sandwiches. Our orders were promptly taken by a young blonde girl, which I credit her for. Our coffees were ok but took a while to arrive (I would understand if it was busy but there were only a couple of customers in who already had ordered and got their drinks). After 35-40 mins, I went to the counter to ask where our sandwiches were, the girl told us she forgot to give the kitchen our check and now the kitchen is closed. There was barely an apology and she shrugged it off, her attitude was not great at all. She could have offered us a slice of cake or put a discount on our coffee.. Her attitude was poor and we will absolutely not be back. If you are going to charge £9 for a sarnie then make sure your staff have appropriate hospitality training.

Eaten here several times for lunch and alway good food and good service, not your average garden centre cafe. Prawns with grapefruit and avocado on the sourdough is certainly my favourite.

I don’t mind paying £9.50 for a sandwich. However - when there is a lot of unpleasant margarine and very little filling I do mind. The bread is very crunchy on the outside which isn’t great for elderly guests teeth. Looking at the average age range - I am surprised they don’t consider it. The small amount my mother ate - broke her tooth. Not a good experience.

Beautiful cakes, breakfast served in a lovely conservatory, surrounded by plants from the garden centre. Standout cake was the courgette, lime, gin and sprinkled generously with pistachio. Also an amazing sausage patty served in a warm buttered bun. Perfect coffee, homemade sourdough and can’t wait to try more on the menu. Great place to stop off the A64 to or from the coast and a fantastic garden centre.

We went to Vertigrow to stock up on shrubs and went to the Tearoom for lunch again. We were not disappointed. We both had Welsh Rarebit and truffle chips, gorgeous, full of flavour, freshly cooked, lovely salad too. Coffee was great. The service is always pleasant here, efficient without fuss and this time, the chef was heard singing from the kitchen! No extra charge for that. It really did leave us feeling we had had an all-round great day and can't wait to go back.

Very nice cafe. More than delicious coffee. It was the Eton mess cake that drew me in. Seating outside in a dappled shade court yard or in a pretty green house. Have tried other items on menu which has an interesting selection. I can recommend breakfast. Fantastic sour dough. Good service.

The menu is pared down a little but the standards are as high as they always were. Excellent Covid measures in place and great drinks, snacks, cakes and scones. The new lunch menu looks very attractive on paper and on the palates coming out so w e will time our next bvisit to have lunch. Superb service as always. So wonderful that they have come through a difficult year for the industry and are still at the very top of their game - and an excellent game they play. highly recommended. And the bonus is that you have a wonderful garden nursery to explore before or after.

I have been before, I will visit again. Not only are they maintaining high levels of Covid safety standards they are still producing very high quality cakes, scones and light lunches. To cope with the need for greater spacing (which was always generous pre-Covid - a new spacious indoor space in a large greenhouse has been opened. As ever excellent service. In the Vertigrow nursery on the A 64 very shortly after the A64 bypass of York. A perfect hidden gem.

We stopped here for a bite to eat on Saturday before going to the races, and were pleasantly surprised at the wonderful dishes on offer. The food was excellent, and the coffee and tea just what we needed. The little touches such as the string bow around the cutlery were lovely. Tom and Hayley are previously known to us from when they worked in Coniston, and deserve to do well here. We would heartily recommend this lovely little cafe, and will be back for more.

This lovely little gem is one of York's best! Do not let the name fool you, it is much more than a tea room. The food is simply delicious. We've been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. The menu changes often depending on that season. Their cakes look gorgeous and the serve all the normal hot drinks. I would deffo recommend this place. If you're sick of the A64 stop here. You will not be disappointed.

Got sick of the traffic on the A64 and saw this nursery with a tea room. Lucky for us everyone else was stopping at the next larger cafe. It was just busy enough have a nice atmosphere but not too much for the single waitress and chef. All the food we saw was freshly prepared/ cooked. My daughter had a chicken tikka brioche which was so tasty. The cream teas were beautiful and the cakes looked lovely - lots of people taking some away for later (as did we on our return trip after the holiday). Good range for small tearoom from sandwiches and cakes to soup or salads.

Excellent pub, we unwittingly ordered 2 steaks meals and a bottle of white wine without realising it was on a promotion deal...nice surprise when we received the final bill. We loved the cheese board and I loved the Leeds Leodis beer. Staff were excellent and a great friendly atmosphere. Revisited in November 2024 on a Sunday evening and still excellent, friendly pub with amazing food. Just love this pub, wish I had it near my home. Love the Leodis pilsner....just wish I could get it in bottles😥
