The Green Room Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Totally disappointed with the food for the price you are paying. The Butter Chicken Curry was more like tomato soup with water logged rice making the curry runnier and the naan bread was hard, the Cajun Chicken Pasta was bland and flavourless.

The food was nice here, one of us has intolerances and asked for no cheese but there was cheese and it had to be sent back, and then the rest of you either eat and one doesn't or you all wait and have cold food.. seemed to be forgotten about for a long time even when it wasn't that busy but the waitress we had a few times was very polite. Desserts we wouldn't get again and one pizza was as hard as a frisbee which we did mention as the waitress asked, as they could use any issues to improve which was fair enough. We then ordered another night for takeaway and asked for gluten free cheese free burger and other things. Once we had walked back to the lodge to eat there was cheese all over the burger for a second time!! Luckily we had the receipt as the chef told the staff they didn't put no cheese, but she had. They re made it but it ruined sitting down as a family. Plus there were things missing in the burgers no sauce that was on the menu, onions etc so food wasn't as nice and lacked flavour. But disappointed this time as its quite expensive. It gets very busy in here, seems a little chaotic at times. Staff are nice. Would eat in again, but not takeaway.

Where to start…….!! Booked at 6.30 as we have 2 children and thought booking earlier we would be done by 8/8.30 latest…. We were shown to our table, given menus and asked about allergies. Then we seemed to be forgotten about. Around 20 minutes later our drinks order was taken, it was a further 10 minutes before our food order was taken and the drinks came out around 10 minutes later. We ordered a sharing starter to come out with our food. Food arrived about 30 minutes after we ordered and came out plate by plate, with my daughter’s pizza coming out around 5 minutes after the rest. Nobody asked if we wanted any more drinks and we had to ask for the salt and any sauces. 2 out of the 7 meals were not great, the fish and chips was expensive, a small portion and the chips were were cold. The sirloin steak was mainly fat and gristle. We should have returned it but wasn’t sure how long we would have to wait for a replacement. The food is also very overpriced. It took around 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared once we had finished and for our dessert order to be taken. We ordered the sundaes and the kids pancakes. After 15 minutes the young lady came over to say that they had run out of the pancakes! We ordered something else and then waited again - we had to ask where our desserts were and decided to complain at that point. Both the waiter and waitress were very apologetic and bought our dessert over along with the bill and they did take 20% off the food bill. We don’t complain usually but being in a restaurant for over 2 hours, having 2 courses and one drink with 2 children getting frustrated is not really how we wanted to spend the last night of our holiday. Would not return unfortunately

Fantastic service at 'The Lookout' had a lovely server Laura couldn't of done more for us, made to feel welcome by everyone we spoke to. Fantastic meal, had bread to start with balsamic and olive oil, a chicken dish for main and a creme brulee for after (the piece missing was me from the photo it was just that good!) all were presented beautifully and super tasty. Family had Calamri and Pizza both of which I was told were lovely, certainly looked good. Overall I would definitely go back with no hesitation, also forgot, the milkshake was amazing even had a piece of brownie in it! I'm not sure what the other reviews are about this was a lovely relaxed meal with a great atmosphere and spot on service. Thank you very much for a lovely evening.

Awful food, it was cold and the Caesar salad was bland with next to no sauce and instead of croutons there was stale chunks of bread in it. My mum broke a tooth on the bread as it was that hard !! Very overpriced and the service was appalling

Bad food and bad service and they are not bothered as there is not any restaurant around We waited for nearly an hour and no one came to tell if it was late. We gave feedback to manager and he was not bothered. We ordered fish and chips nearly 19£ and it was very small portion like baby fish. The chips along with burgers were burnt for all 3 burgers. I think they are too busy and have too many customers so not quite bothered. 11 pounds for. Cocktail

Really dissapointing first visit to the restaurant. Sent one meal back as reheated and inedible. Duty Manager indifferent!

Absolutely awful experience. Visited family staying on site to join them for a meal - party of 12. All food was pre-ordered as requested by the venue. Despite that, an hour after our booking time and arrival, we had to ask what was happening. The already disgruntled front of house chap explained there was only one trained chef on but he'd go and check. About 10 minutes later, our food started to arrive. As my daughter's food came out, she immediately found a long hair embedded in her pasta. We told the chap and he apologised and took it back to the kitchen. Shortly after, he came out and explained that no one in the kitchen had long hair and proceeded to have a long and protracted argument with me that the hair belonged to my daughter. It was a light coloured hair and my daughter is very dark. We were not unpleasant about it and were very displeased with the loud and unnecessary accusation and ensuing argument from the waiter / barman. As we waited for her meal to be re-done, every member of waiting staff that came out of the kitchen had long hair!! My daughters pasta was replaced 25 minutes later after the rest of us had finished. No offer to discount the bill because of the long wait, poor service, argumentative staff or the general mediocrity of the food. Overall, very disappointing and, suffice to say, will not be going back again.

Our family enjoys fine dining experiences and expect to pay more for good food, service and environment. So we were excited to come here after looking at the menu as the prices were set to what you would expect from a fine dining restaurant! When we arrived we were impressed with the environment but unfortunately that is where it all ended. Service was extremely slow even though there was only two other tables in the restaurant that were occupied! One table with 2 people and the other table with two adults and a child. We had 5 at our table. We ordered our drinks which took approximately 20 minutes to arrive and when we ordered our food that took over 30 minutes to arrive! Thankfully I asked for the starters to come out with the main course and I chose the hogs pudding scotch egg which in all fairness was nice but quite overpriced at £7.95. We also ordered the Rattler cider Glazed sausages which were basically tasteless chipolata's in a cheap apple sauce priced at £8.95! 3 of us had the seafood linguine which was described on the menu as mussels, cod and king prawns in a rich tomato sauce for £19.95. We all had 3 prawns, no cod, but the mussels were generous. The rich tomato sauce was definitely not rich! This dish for the quality in our opinion was easily over priced by at least £10! Then my wife had the chicken Caesar salad which they forgot about and we had to ask almost 10 minutes later so when it eventually cane the chicken was only just thawed which obviously was pre-cooked and then frozen and absolutely tasteless priced at £16.50 and lastly we had twin Finn jerk spiced chicken which can only be described as really not very nice priced at £17.95. We also had crispy squid and a few extra portions of chips on the side and these were just about cooked and were definitely a very cheap frozen variety! So the whole bill with the drinks was over £200 and it really wasn't worth that! When we complained at the till they gave us 10% off the bill which was a kind gesture but really I was looking for 50% for the quality! When we headed downstairs after we paid we noticed a couple of guests were ordering from a takeaway menus. As we have never been here before I asked reception if they have any menus and said anything that has got to be better than we had upstairs, even the reception staff Discreetly agreed by a nod of the head on a roll of the eyes and said no comment! It's a big shame because this restaurant totally lets down this amazing resort. Definitely asked for the takeaway menus !

Recently stayed at the resort this restaurant is on. Service was fantastic and food was great however the only thing that let this place down was the menu. The pictures advertised are very misleading, the menu itself is minimal for such a large resort this was odd, but the food we did try was lovely. - add a few more dishes and this place would be fantastic all round.

We visited in July 2023 for a bite of lunch. We weren’t welcomed to a table and first impressions were that they weren’t too busy probably about 20 people in the whole restaurant? We ordered via the online QR code and waited around 15 minutes for a drink. My parents went up to the bar to order to be told they had tan out of the scotch egg and pasty so decided to just order a portion of chips each which were £4.25 for the tiniest portion. We had already ordered a scotch egg and they didn’t say it was unavailable to us so we assumed we had got the last one as we ordered before my parents went to the bar. 40 minutes later a waiter comes and tell us it was unavailable and the ‘ticket machine had broke’ despite getting our drinks??? We cancelled the entire order and got a refund as we were so disappointed with the service we received. If it was busy we would’ve been understanding and they should’ve come round and asked if we had ordered online if the machine had broken and not left it 40 minutes to wait for it to come through. Overall it was poor and massively overpriced.

We have eaten here several times in the past and have always had a good experience. We have recently had a meal here. Unfortunately the caesar salad lettuce leaves had grit in most of them and the ribeye steak which should have been medium rare turned up well done and hard round the edge. Yet our bill at the end clearly stated medium rare. The waitress communicated our order correctly however the chef was obviously not concentrating. The waiting staff were excellent though.

My husband and I had dinner here last week, whilst staying on site. Really enjoyed it, lovely decor, very roomy and really comfy chairs! Food was lovely, vegetarian options were good and service was perfect, really friendly and helpful.

Terrible food, equally terrible service. Ordered two Caesar salads, one vegetarian, one chicken (chicken served raw). Vegetarian was £1 less admittedly, but £12 is still extortionate for a handful of leaves, some dressing and a few tomatoes. No Parmesan either seeing as it’s not vegetarian but nothing offered as a substitute. The worst part, however, was the fact that the chargrilled chicken in the normal Caesar was served raw and I had to walk it back to the inside bar myself seeing as the outside bar wasn’t being monitored. No apology, no ‘let me get this sorted’ just ‘ermm, I’ll check with the chef’. In the end, the manager (we assumed, didn’t identify herself) apologised and told us the meal was being remade, 15 minutes after it was returned. We decided to cancel seeing as my partner had already finished her meal. In the end an apology and some recognition would have solved the issue, seeing as they weren’t busy, but we weren’t afforded either.

Food is ok but overpriced, the customer service of some of the staff is non existent, and has more dogs than crufts!!

Nice place very clean, good food overlooking Flow Rider so you get entertained whilst having a drink

We have stayed at Retallack on a number of times over the years and we have often mentioned in our feedback about the lack of somewhere to get a decent meal without driving and have also said the resort could make for of the lookout. When we visited in July we could see that they where trying to improve the lookout but it still felt a like unwelcoming and under used. On arrival it was great to see the lookout advertised in the welcoming pack, we called twice and were very please with the food and the atmosphere in the Lookout it actual felt like somewhere you would want to go rather than an old village hall that served pizza once a month.

Staff are friendly, food is good. One mistake one the order removing salad from child's meal. Good value and dog friendly.

Nice little restaurant and bar with varied menu. Can get busy so booking advisory. Staff very friendly please note it’s closed Tuesday and Thursday,not sure the reason for that,maybe staff shortage or the time of year we visited.

Booked in for an evening meal during our holiday at the resort. I could have eaten my meal all over again! Looking forward to visiting again. Good prices too. A simple and convenient way to have a treat and forego cooking!

We were staying at the resort so thought we’d try out the restaurant. The restaurant is lovely, tables spaced out well, nice and quiet and ambient atmosphere. The pizza chef was out which we were told in advance so no issues there. The main menu is varied and the food was good but does quality does seem to vary by dish. My partner had the scampi which he raved about and I had the curry which was okay but in my opinion not worth the £12.95 paid for it. However, the brownie pudding was to die for. That I would eat over and over! They are clearly short staffed so anything related to that isn’t affecting my rating. Definitely book in advance, especially during busier times and whilst still in this pandemic. Overall a nice visit and easy if staying on the resort, but a bit overpriced in my opinion.

The staff deserve a medal as they are fighting an uphill battle, they certainly don't have enough of them and from what I understand aren't competitive with the local market which means there are often closures or changes because of a shortage. That's a shame as the ones they have are good and the food is decent too.

We had a takeaway on the first night of our stay and it was tremendous. Well cooked, tasty and there was plenty. Just a pity the opening hours were restricted otherwise we’d have made more use of it!

We had a lovely morning flow riding, flowed by the great lunch for all 9 of us. Very clean and very well Covidised. Prompt and efficient service, and great food! Simple menu well cooked with quality ingredients. Oh, and oh, so, reasonable for 3 courses...

Relaxed atmosphere, conveniently located if staying at the resort. Ate 5 times during our week stay, evening and lunch, every meal was good and reasonably priced.

A place to lounge and grab some easy/fast food and a drink both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Very resort focused place with plenty to do and entertain young children but probably an occasional venue rather than regular. Friendly staff who were very accommodating. A casual...

Such a shame that the only place to eat onsite at the retallack resort is so poor. The food quality is poor, service is poor, so save yourself your pennies and go elsewhere. Only plus is that it’s dog friendly hence the 2 stars!

Just had food at 12.30 today. Ordered a childs burger and two portions of Nachos with pulled pork. Unfortunately...the pulled pork was stone cold when it arrived....not just on one portion....but both. I took them both into the bar and told the girl they were cold. She said "oh"....took them off me and toddled into the kitchen. At no point was an apology made. Replacement meals then came out....lovely and piping hot. Unfortunately....after I'd eaten half if it I found a really long black hair in my salsa. I'd swallowed a mouthful and had to pull the long hair out of my gullet which made me gag. I have a short brown Bob as does my daughter and my partner is bald as a koot. I went in and asked for manager...a blonde lady came over. I explained to her what had happened. She offered a refund....which was great. Then someone spoke to her and she then implied I was lying and that it could have been mine.... she asked me for the hair as proof...well...I'd just pulled it out and flicked it on the table..She then said she needed to go and look for it !!! .They then said I could be lying.....I said check your CCTV....I'm sure they'll see me gagging.... No apology...nothing.... I come in at least 4 times a week and have an annual membership....we don't always eat but we do always have drinks. I shall never grace your restaurant for family meals again. To suggest I was a liar is just the worst customer service ever. I even let them rectify the cold pulled pork..which could have had serious consequences as it hadn't been cooked correctly....No apologies for that either. I would also like to point out that the girl who served us had really long black hair!!! I was really nice about the whole thing....no scene was made....I complained discreetly....yet I was treated like a liar. Such poor service from such poorly trained....unhygienic staff. I am so disappointed....I had come to expect more from this resort.

Last year food was great, so much so we felt more than happy to be going again, indeed the strength of the food in the restaurant justified another tick in the box for a return holiday this year. What a difference a year makes! The menu is extremely basic and the food it self is extremely poor. My wife had the burger, my son and I the fish and chips. This is Cornwall, you would expect great fish in wonderful batter. This was frozen mass produced rubbish. Batter was soggy, peas were microwaved and chips from Costco.. couldn’t eat it.. truly truly awful.. we also note that Cornish lager not on sale anymore. Based on the food alone as staff are very nice, we will not come back to the restaurant and now have a negative cross in the box that means we will Seriously look elsewhere for holidaying in Cornwall next year and probably do day break here at Retallack.. poor poor poor

Visited here several times during our stay at Retallack Resort. Used mainly for drinks, as the daytime menu consists of only sandwiches and chips. A very limited menu for food, but the girls who work here are amazing. Always friendly, helpful and have a smile. Keep up the good work girls and thanks for making it nice to visit...

What a disappointment! Went there for a family dinner while staying at Retallack Resort & Spa. The food was aweful! The burglar was like a dried up piece of gristly plastic! I actually took it out of the bun and left it on the plate and just ate the bun. The chicken wings were dry and lukewarm- clearly they’d been pre-cooked and reheated to lukewarm. The chicken wings and the halloumi fries were served on the nice cast iron skillets. You’d expect the skillets to sizzle but they were cold and used purely for presentation. Very disappointing. £70+ wasted! Never ever going back there again! The music was teenage rubbish too! I’d say the food is a grade below Wetherspoons if that helps ( not that I eat there either! Once was enough!).

Visited for pre dinner drinks x6 people €10 each to ride the lift. Great setting fabulous views for pre dinner drinks. Would have been nice if we hadn’t been served by the rudest barman in the world, constantly shaking his head as he served us. Would have stayed longer if we had received a warmer welcome.

We visited The Lookout during our stay at Retallack Resort. Between the two families, we had children of different ages and everyone gave a thumbs up for the delicious food. A number of us are vegetarian so it was good to find so much variety for everyone. The staff was excellent and took care of everyone’s needs. The ambience is also very nice. On the second night, we ordered over phone and the food was ready on time. Well done and keep it up!!

Excellent place to eat while staying at the Retallack Resort and spa A varied menu served all day and reasonably priced

We visited the lookout restaurant a few times when we were in Cornwall last year and had a lovely experience. However we came back this year and were very disappointed. The food was really quite poor. It resembled really basic pub food, poor quality ingredients and no effort in presentation. Chips were over cooked, burgers were dry and pizzas were not available. This is such a shame as we were so impressed by the restaurant last year. We were also really disappointed to see that afternoon tea is no longer served as this was a really delicious and special option on previous visits. I suspect the new owners have cut lots of corners to save costs, but it’s really not paying off and we wouldn’t visit again.

We got a takeaway, would in courage to do the same. We ordered in advance and was on exactly on time when we came to pick it up the burger was beautiful the fish was very crispy and the salmon was cooked perfectly would highly recommend!

We have visited before and had an amazing experience in this restaurant at retallack but since been taken over I'm sad to say it's not too great. We only had breakfast. The restaurant was empty but the service was pretty poor and we felt like an inconvenience. I ordered a large aria breakfast and beans on toast. The breakfast wasnt that big and was very basic. Last time we visited it was lovely local meat not cheap sausages. The bread wasn't toasted and was soggy. Just very disappointing. Pricing is good but we wouldn't come back. Retallack itself is lovely. And our lodge was perfect but we will go elsewhere to eat in future.

Having stayed at the resort for the week we ate here every day. The food was fantastic and very well priced. The roast dinner was brilliant. The staff are super friendly.

We came here a month ago as a family and had the most amazing roast - side dishes full of fresh veg, generous portions of meat, the best nut roast I’ve ever had (never had a restaurant nut roast that I’ve genuinely enjoyed) and really attentive friendly service. We decided we had finally found our favourite Sunday haunt.

The menu selection was very limited with only 4 choices for a main meal and the service was just as limited. I asked a simple question on behalf of my daughter and the waiter could not answer and seemed uninterested in asking another member of staff or more importantly the kitchen.

We had won a competition and ate here a lot to spend our voucher. Great food. Nice atmosphere. Very friendly staff. One downside is staff could do with being more organised and having better communication with each other/management even during weird periods like Christmas. ‍♀️

Visited with friends on Saturday evening whilst staying at the Retallack Resort. The ambience was relaxed but the staff were helpful and attentive.

Ate here twice on our recent holiday, first time in restaurant and second in bar, both evening meals. Service much better in bar/lounge area than restaurant for some reason!!

Restaurant looks out on the Flow rider, so you’re in the thick of the action, there’s music in the background and good coffee. Only they stop serving food in the afternoon, the only food available are pizza express pizzas. We found this frustrating if you planned on spending the day on resort as a family.

Haven’t eaten here for a while, we both had steak sourced locally and it was beautiful Staff were busy but very helpful, really enjoyed the evening

Nice location for those staying at Retallack.

Food fantastic, but service was a little bit slow and staff could have been a bit more enthusiastic. Just simple things like we were not asked if our food was okay, had to ask for salt,pepper, sauces etc and there was little interaction with the guests. I would not normally mind, but we spent over £150 so would expect the service to be as good as the food.

Excellent breakfast, lunches and evening meals, friendly staff where nothing was too much trouble ..there were daily specials on the board and children and dogs welcomed too

We came for a family meal as a group of 10, the food was fab and the service was lovely. We will come again!

Ate outside while watching the flo rider. Childs pizza was welcomed by my 3yr old, blue cheese risotto was beautiful. Lovely setting, will definatley visit again.

They have a really talented chef here who prepares the most delicious food I've tasted. Really fresh ingredients and the menu caters to all. Love it.

We had a special club members taster menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mini fish and chips, spicy lamb sausage.......chicken tureen, apple chutney........veg risotto with melted blue cheese(my favourite)......main of lamb(a bit tough I’m afraid)..... trio of desserts to share. It was a great experience all washed down with Prosseco! Just one point for the chef to note.....never ask a woman to share her dessert!

I stayed at the resort for 2 days , came to the lookout just for a drink and the to ladies behind the bar helped me choose my favee gin. So helpful with even offering samples the lot! the chips are lush. I was meant to have a meal but unfortuantly couldnt. Still stayed for a drink and their was one young waitress who really made me feel welcome even though i had mascara down my face! The place is lush and i shall return just for the pure fact how lovely your staff are ... dont know why olives are with everything tho..

We ate here as part of our weekend stay at Retallack Resort. Most of our party had roast lunches; the selection of vegetables brought to the table was brilliant and everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the food!

A lovely meal in the evening steak was cooked perfect and the waiting staff were very happy and helpful.

We were staying onsite at Retallack Resort and dined at The Lookout Restaurant on our first evening. We had booked the table well in advance but there was no problem with our reservation on arrival. A table had been reserved for us by the window overlooking the flowrider, which was fun to watch. The food was nice, reasonably priced and well presented. The only downside was that the menu was quite small and it would be nice if there had been a little more choice. The staff were very attentive. The reason for our visit was that we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and to our surprise at the end of our meal the waitress told us that the chef was aware it was our anniversary and would like to prepare us a special complimentary dessert. We were treated to a selection of mini desserts to share and a glass of prosecco each. This was a lovely sentiment and made our experience extra special. We would love to visit again.

booked for our anniversary so was looking for a quality time. the food was faultless and we managed all 3 courses as there were long gaps between them which helped. the décor is more cafeteria than restaurant and the view from our window table was less than attractive overlooking the water boarding ride with half its panels missing. the restaurant itself is part of a hotel/spa so there was a relaxed dress code. despite all this though we would go back just for the food.

We ate here on Friday 2 Feb (four of us) it was exceptional we had Sunday lunch (fourteen of us) on the 4th Feb and again it was exceptional however we were very disappointed with afternoon tea on the Saturday.

Booked for a special occasion meal. Although it was winter so very quiet the staff were really friendly and it still felt a nice atmosphere. Food was excellent.. steaks cooked to perfection. Husband had a dessert which was super - ginger and apple with shedloads of clotted cream. Very good all round.

Great choice and both our meals were absolutely delicious, good portions, wonderful flavours. My only small moan was the food took a long time to come, but as the atmosphere was good and relaxing this really wasn't a problem. Staff very friendly and polite

We had a fabulous Sunday roast at Retallack. There were 8 adults and one child in our party. Despite ordering different meals they all appeared together and everything was perfect. The roast potatoes were the best I've had. So crispy. Beef was plentiful. No problem with adult ordering a child sized meal.

Service was top notch and food was amazing, best I have had from a restaurant in a long time.

Don’t really know what to say other than it was all great! My steak was Devine and came out all within good time and our starter was incredible also!

Since the change from 'The Green Room' to 'The Lookout' the restaurant is nowhere near as good. Service was poor, soup was cold and ordering a side salad without rocket meant we got a side salad with rocket in it. The restaurant needs to listen to their customers. Previously stayed at Retallack twice and had fantastic meals at the Green Room. The only thing it has kept since the change of name is the high prices. Not worth it.

If you are staying at the resort or using the facilities then the Lookout Restaurant (as it is now called) is a great place to eat. However it is not cheap, the food is good and I can't say I was unhappy with any of the meals I had there, but I can't help but feel that the prices are somewhat reflective of the fact and there is no local competition and that you are a captive audience. I would certainly recommend going there for a couple of meals during a stay at the resort but the costs would prevent most people from having every meal there.

As a family we have visited the green room when we have used the flow rider on several occasions and throughly enjoyed our experience. When we visited this time for a birthday meal two of the party ordered steak which had so much fat and gristle in we couldn't eat it and returned it to the kitchen. Very disappointing probably won't eat there again.

Main courses were nice. Service poor - took 25 minutes before we could order drinks even - having obtained menus ourselves. However once food was ordered it did arrive in good time. Some item prices a bit high (in relation to actual ingredients).

Like other reviews we waited and waited for everything. Food tasted nice but prices were a little high for what you actually got. No one was very interested in serving. Many drinks on menu were not available or not chilled.

Very pricey food, £4.00 for a side of chips ridiculous!! Gin was £2.50 then the tonic was £2.95. You can buy for bottles for that in a supermarket! Not going to pay that kind of price for food & drink again
