Brilliant pub, Brett & Lorraine always make you feel welcome. The pub is looking amazing after the refurb and I love going in there I'd give 10 stars if I could.

This used to be a good pub until taken over by outsiders who are vile !! Very rude and unfriendly, no one is allowed to have fun, not allowed to hold a drink unless seated, the landlord patrols around telling everyone off, this is more like a youth club for kids. I would avoid this at all costs unless you want your evening ruinied

Well it has a great atmosphere and a lot of regulars who all seem happy and staff are very cheerful and chatty go there at least once a week from plymouth enjoy it a lot 👍

I was visiting with a friend and witnessed the vile landlady being incredibly rude to two young ladies, both over 18. They were accused of smelling of drugs and told they could only drink outside. Both were incredibly polite, but were visibly shaken by the treatment they received when they had clearly done nothing wrong. We then witnessed two other people, not with the young ladies, smoking drugs outside. The landlord saw his, and took no action. Horrible pub run by horrible people!

I went to the railway with my partner for a drink and a game of darts. Whilst standing at the bar attempting to order a drink, the bar staff very abruptly asked for ID which I don’t have an issue with but as I hadn’t ordered a drink at that time and the way I was spoken to it was very uncalled for. The past few times I have been there the staff have been quite rude and abrupt to myself and my partner which is upsetting as I used to love going to the railway but now I’m thinking of going elsewhere were we will be valued as customers and spoken to rather than spoken at.

Just popped in on the way back to our holiday railway carriage at St germans as we had an hour spare after a day out in Saltash and received a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar as well as the locals it's a really well run pub with prices I thought went out the window where I love in Hampshire 5 years ago it's so good I'm going back again when I'm that way later this year I can't review the food as I only went in for drinks

Walked over Bridge what was supposed to be dry day! Got soaked!! Shame we weren't by radiator to dry off. Got impression very local pub and nice to see people in there. Enjoyed our few drinks then walked back over bridge in dryer conditions! Look forward to summer day maybe sitting in beer garden. Nice Atmosphere in pub from clientele.

Couldn't say about food as we were only there for one night and was booked into another restaurant apart frome that rooms were OK for what we paid coustermer service good bar staff excellent

Nice little local pub. Looks great after having a refurb, modern feel. Each booth had its own TV. Toilets Carpark Outdoor area Great selection of drinks at very good prices. Staff were great.

Cracking local! Great staff, Landlady & Landlord run a tight ship…great atmosphere & always happy to accommodate requests…Proud to call the Railway my local football/live music/darts/ cocktails/outdoor drinking area- great in the Summer. Recently been refurbished by Craft Union Pubs…they’ve done a great job…proper cozy in a friendly venue!

I went for breakfast at the Railway Inn this morning which was well cooked and very reasonably priced. The service was excellent which made for a pleasant dinning experience.

Great pub, adapted well to new gov rules, sky sports, had breakfast with the family on Wednesday morning & the staff are very friendly.

The Railway feels friendly and lively these days. I like the bench style seating and the outside seating area adds a lot of space.

No sense of social distancing. The male member of staff acted like everything was a problem.

This is my pub in Saltash. Friendly, welcoming, warm! Engaging staff, and may I say. Great prices! Local or not, I highly recommended this venue!

Just spent a 3 night stay here, as there was no other reasonably priced accommodation available at the time we required in Saltash . The accommodation is cheap and basic, you get what you pay for; £30 for a double or £25 for single per night. The rooms were basic but did have sinks , small tv and tea & coffee facilities, although these may not have been replenished for some time as several of the long life milk sachets were off! The shared bathroom however did have a powerful shower and we didn’t encounter any other residents. We weren’t affected by any noise from the pub as we went to bed after closing time, however I would imagine it would be noisy at weekends before closing due to customers in the outside space. The bed mattress could do with updating as could feel the springs ! From our room I was disturbed by the cellar chiller cutting in and out most of the night, however i couldn’t say If it could be heard from other rooms. The price of drinks in the pub are very cheap and the pub is ideally located for the town centre with choices of places for breakfast as the kitchen wasn’t open some of the time we were there.

We had a holiday drink here before leaving and it was cheap £3.50 bought two alcoholic drinks and they had a big quorn vegan menu however the toilets need painting and some new locks putting on!

Sat in pub now with drink 5 25 19th July ordered food off 2 for 12 quid . Few minutes later we were told no mash potato left tried to negotiate 1 meal off the deal menu and one of normal menu for 12 quid . Were told no . So asked for money back and left . Spend a lot of time and money in this pub .Brill customer service

Went in there asked for a pint of coke, was then asked for ID, thought strange handed it over though (I’m 19) my friend is 17 and he didn’t have ID so I wasn’t allowed to buy a coke .... he then told me no kids are allowed after 8pm so I politely reminded him it was only 7:15pm, he then continued to tell me to leave? Rude and obnoxious I’ve always drank in there and never had a problem. Just for me to point out that his reasons for refusing me were wrong, and for him to just tell me to leave. Just wrong, can’t refuse customers for no reason.

No hesitation giving this a 5, at least for eating and drinking (cannot comment on accommodation). Food was well cooked and very good value, especially if you go for a meal deal. Drinks cheaper than anywhere else we have found in Cornwall.We had 2 meals with drinks for less than £20. Friendly staff and dog friendly. Recommended!

Best £30 ive spent in a long time. One nights stay in room only accomm above the pub. Highly recommend. Clean and comfy.

We have just had the Tamar Business Network breakfast at the pub, they were asked to host the breakfast and did a fabulous job, thank you to Gloria & Neil, it was perfect and just what we asked for.

Great local, always busy. two sets of sports on at he same time so something for everyone. they do a quiz on a Thursday but jeez it's really hard.

I recently visited The Railway and on ordering my first drink was immediately told my £10 note was counterfeit, without it even being checked in a machine. The bar was packed and I was totally embarrassed. I gave the landlady a £20 note instead which she took and gave me back a £10 note with my change, which looked no different to the one I gave her initially. Whether I was chosen as an example to the other customers I don't know, but that's certainly not the way it should be done. Use a machine to remove all doubt before throwing false accusations around. Fraud is a serious offence and I object to being accused of this so publicly without concrete evidence. Will think twice before spending my money here again.

Popped in for Sunday Roast. Very good value

My wife and I recently visited the The Railway Inn in Saltash on two occasions. On our first visit in the evening, we were made to feel welcome by all of the bar staff and although it was around 7.00 p.m. they were able to provide two excellent roast beef dinners at a very reasonable price. They really went out of their way to make us welcome. We were more than happy to return the next night for an evening meal, where our reception was totally different from the previous day. We drove into the Railway Inns car park and as we left the car a gentleman appeared whom I presume was the chef from his attire, and asked if we were staying at the Inn, we said no but we had come for an evening meal and drinks. He stated quite bluntly that the car park was only for guests who were staying at the Inn, although the car park was empty, he added that the kitchen was closed and they were not serving any meals because there were no customers. We explained that we had received an excellent meal the previous evening but were still told to move our car into a public car park. Fortunately we received a far better reception In The Brunel Arms a little further up the street and in spite of the kindness of the bar staff in the Railway Inn, we will not be recommending or returning again.

Clean, well decorated modern pub. Bit noisy (music) for us older folk, but I still enjoyed my visit. Good selection of beers and spirit. Lots of seating. Will go back again.

Thought we'd try The Railway Hotel after trying the others pubs in the area and we won't be returning. The food was frozen food (we sawa member of staff unloading a car with a box of frozen burgers) and not worth the money. The staff were rude and couldn't be bothered with us!!! We will not be returning.

A very welcoming place to visit, a lovely friendly atmosphere and very tasty home cooked food,would recommend this place to anyone wanting a place that offers good food drink and company.

4 of us had lunch here, one panini which was very acceptable, one steak pudding which had delicious tender meat, one fish n chips which was devoured to the last morsel and one lasagne which was tasty with the right balance the of meat sauce and pasta. Good choice of dishes, including specials and pie of the day. Friendly staff and a nice feel to the place. Not pretentious and not expensive. Well done!

Nice, friendly pub vibe with lots of up to date decor. Big TV screens for sport but not on so loud you couldn't talk. Staff great and were able to answer a question about the Ales and which were suitable for vegans. Menu seemed good for vegetarians as lots of Quorn. Not so great for vegans as Quorn contais egg but I'm happy to go back to try the food if they can cater for us. Lovely pub.

I ordered the roast pork with a selection of vegetables and I was not disappointed. An absolutely sublime effort from the chef, can't fault his Yorkshire puddings especially since I was given my very own gravy bowl. A very friendly and welcoming environment, as a man very far from Leeds, I felt right at home. Simply lovely.

First I wanna state the staff were friendly and the decor is modern and clean but the food I beyond shocking. My partner had fish and chips and as a chef he said the oil needed changing as the batter was far to dark also the fish was to watery. I had the chicken and bacon burger and i was so disappointed everything was bought in frozen and the burger wasn't edible my partner and I both bit into it and it was either over cooked or reheated either way sake the chef. My son is a picky eater when out so always picks chicken nuggets and he only ate a handful of chips and a few onion rings which if I'm right are aunt Bessie's. We are not against eating frozen bought in but at least cook it well. I have never left so much food on my plate. Unfortunately won't be back.

Cheap drinks, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff.

We’ve lived in Saltash for over a decade but have never ventured into the Railway Hotel. Sunday last we decided to go local for Sunday lunch I had a look on social media for some ideas and the Railway won the vote. Sunday was a very hot day but it was nice a cool as we went through the door, we had lamb shank and roast pork with all the trimmings and for afters, home made apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding. The food was very hot and it was yummy, the staff were friendly the place is clean the food is yum 👍 did I mention the food was yum 😋 we plan to visit again very soon oh and the price we paid was very reasonable.

Food was good. good service. Did not have to wait long for the food. We will be back as not far from where we are staying. We got there just in time as the pub got very busy.

Alfombras sucias, lámparas que no funcionaban, polvo mesas de luz, el olor de los perros duros y la luz del baño común no funcionaba. Nuestra habitación estaba encima del 'Jardín', lo que significaba un montón de ruido, que sabíamos era de esperar, sin embargo, la constante de gritos, insultos y aplastando de vasos hasta bien pasada la medianoche no fue lo que pides. Era tan malo que no rato y realidad en otro lugar para la noche del sábado. Intentamos hablar con alguien antes de que nos marchamos el sábado por la mañana, pero todo estaba cerrado y no había nadie para ser visto.

This refurbished hotel has a pleasant atmosphere and service. Pub food is above average and the hotel rooms are a bargain. I would recommend it.

Noticed the change the new owners have made. Lunchtime special was good value and excellent. Impressed, I went back for the 8am session watching the British Lions v All Blacks with bacon butties on tap. A top experience. Friendly staff and locals.

Great beer and very reasonable, fab affordable food, friendly staff. This is centred in the heart of Saltash and has recently been taken over by people who know how to provide a good service. We would thoroughy recommend this establishment.

Fuimos para el almuerzo con un amigo el pasado miércoles, la comida era barata y buena relación calidad-precio, nos tomamos unas copas y nos encontramos allí todavía a la hora de té, así que tuvimos un guiso que era lo suficientemente y no el truco. Regresaría para otra prueba que no hay muchos pubs en Saltash hacer buena comida.

Primero las malas noticias, la habitación estaba muy fría. El radiador en la habitación apenas dieron cálida, reportamos a la dirección y me dijeron que iban a investigar. Así que la habitación estaba limpia, con una cama cómoda, TV, Wi-fi gratuito, menaje para preparar té y café, y aunque no tenía baño lo que sabíamos cuando hicimos, tenía un lavabo. Tuvimos una buena vista desde la ventana de la habitación de la salida del sol sobre las montañas y río abajo del río Tamar. El hotel, que data de 1800 está idealmente situado justo al lado del puente tamar, y en el centro de la ciudad cerca de la estación de tren. Este hotel sería una base ideal para visitar la zona, ya que está cerca de los páramos y de la costa de Cornwall y Devon. Nos volveríamos a alojar allí de nuevo? Sí, ya que este es un buen hotel económico, y las comidas y las bebidas tienen un precio razonable, y el personal es amable.

Having popped in here previously for a couple of drinks, we decided to go again for some food.Had a great two for £10 meal offer, along with drinks at a good price.Good service, good food and great drinks all for a great price!

Used to be a pleasure to have lunch here in very cosy surroundings and décor, we were regular lunch time diners. Sadly it changed hands, a couple of times I think, and after calling in to try out the previous new proprietors with negative results, we have avoided revisiting until now. Pleased to say that the new owners are making a good job of turning it round for the better. Was always a “local’s” pub and still is by the number of friendly customers in there today. Friendly customers as well as amiable and helpful staff. Warmly welcomed, served promptly and quickly engaged in conversation with one of the regulars who recognised my Midlands accent. The food was soon served very professionally and condiments provided in proper dispensers not sachets normally difficult to open !The meal itself was well cooked, presented and very tasty. Both meals two for a tenner, best value fish and chips in Saltash. Still very much a “locals” orientated pub, all of whom very chatty, and attentive staff. Apart from all of this, the restaurant and bar clean and freshly decorated, with the cheapest drinks we have had for years! We thought they had made a mistake but upon checking they were correct. Well pleased, will soon be calling again, thank you.

We have eaten at this public house on a number of occasions.If you wants good home-made food, with no fancy trimmings just good and tasty, try here.I'm halfway through the menu at the moment.The staff are always lovely and helpful.It certainly worth a try if you don't fancy going into a cafe for lunch.

Fantastic value and quality. Been to a lot of places in Cornwall over the last few weeks and this was great. Staff were really friendly too. If we come back this way we will be back!
