Pre-COVID, this used to be a great, buzzing restaurant. Now it's a nice, but very average pub. We'd last visited in 2019 and, with the high rating it has, thought that it was the same place. It isn't. The interior is ok for a pub, but still basic. The menu offers typical pub fare - and doesn't match the one on the website. The service was ok. There was only one, hassled barman the night that we went there (a Saturday night) and it was relatively quiet. The waiting staff were nice and fairly efficient. If you're looking for a simple pub meal, the Mounts Bay Inn will do the job. If you're looking for great food and/or fine dining, you won't find it in Mullion anymore.

This is a fabulous little pub, full of friendly local characters who made you feel really welcome. As soon as we arrived Kelly upgraded our room as they had started to redecorate the place. Our sea view room was clean and comfortable. We ate at the pub in the evening and the food was first class ("catch of the day" - plaice) and "chicken in the rough" thank you Kyle. Matt and Kelly greeted us with a warm welcome for breakfast which again was delicious. Highly recommended. Lovely people.

We had booked a table for dinner, whilst on holiday, in Cornwall. This was our first visit to this pub & will be our last. The dining area was laid out, like a school canteen. The tables had not been wiped clean. We checked in, at the bar, to be told to grab a menu & sit where we liked. The background music was loud. Other diners were also quite loud & dogs were barking at one another, with no control. I ordered vegetarian curry. It was luke warm, the rice was wet clumps, it was the worst curry I have ever tasted. I couldn't eat it. My husband had the chicken in the rough. A large portion of chicken, no sauce, dry, over cooked fries & some salad. He couldn't eat it either. You pay when you order, so we finished our drinks & left & won't return. I will add that the young man, who served us, our meals, was very polite & pleasant. The only positive thing, of the evening. Very disappointing.

Before my monologue begins, I want to say that it is very rare that I ever feel so compelled to cast my rhetoric, but the series of events today, has left me so disappointed that I feel that whatever I say today may go towards future improvements, by some modicum. We have a very rare opportunity to enjoy a down day and we were excited to book a table for two; based on the tantalising advert placed by the Mount on Facebook. Duly, we arrived and discovered that immediately the advert was misleading in it's description of costs, which immediately doubled the cost and did not differentiate it from any other establishment who, frankly, would have been much better. The starter was advertised at £8 for Brie with toast and Cranberry, or Pickle. This arrived and was two, inch pieces of bread with three small pieces of melted Brie with no accoutrements. We politely asked for one, or the other and this seemed to be the pivotal point at which we upset the waitress. After that, we were waiting for our main for 75 minutes, during which we tried to order drinks. We understand there may be a peak period in which service is very busy and it comes with the territory. This is not something which is a problem, necessarily, if you just want to chill and have a few drinks. However, the problem was inexorably disturbed by the loyalty of serving three locals who arrived at the bar after me, in spite of me standing there for almost 25 minutes and three other tables of six people with food before us who arrived after us. We had to chirp up and remind them we had been waiting for 75 minutes for a main which then turned up. My £14 main consisted of one potato chopped in half with some beef and a flat Yorkshire pudding, with a small takeaway sized container comprising of a spoonful of tepid cabbage, carrots and cauliflower for two people. I remarked is this for two people, at which point the waitress said yes but I can get you more veg? This never arrived. We then moved onto the dessert, which tempted us for more drinks, but reminded us that it would probably be another 30 minute wait before they served all the locals before us. It's important to state that actually my partner has been a local in this locale of Mullion for 13 years historically and we only live down the road. In the end I had to secure the attention of the waitress to express that, after pushing two hours we had had enough and wanted our dessert to go. She then duly continued serving and then after giving me direct eye contact, decided to go and speak to her mates at the end of the bar for 20 minutes. The other bar colleague kind of copped it from me after demanding a refund for the dessert and said, "I don't know what's got into them today" Come back again......... I'll leave you to decide what I think.

We recently stumbled upon the Mount Bay Inn after an underwhelming experience at another local pub, where despite being nearly empty, every table had a reserved sign and they turned away our party of twelve. What a difference it was to arrive at the Mount Bay Inn! It had a warm and inviting atmosphere. The inn is bright and tastefully decorated, creating a welcoming environment. The food was nothing short of excellent—freshly cooked, generously portioned, and reasonably priced. We were so impressed that we ended up visiting twice during our stay in Cornwall. On both occasions, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to go the extra mile to ensure we had a great experience. It also has a dartboard and a pool table, which our family thoroughly enjoyed. The Mount Bay Inn is definitely a place worth visiting if you're in the Mullion area. Highly recommended!

Picked this pub as they had GF options, ordered our meals with an extra portion of halloumi fries, food came but they sent sweet potato fries because they didn’t have any halloumi fries, they also only gave us 1 peppercorn sauce when we ordered 2,had to ask for it and when it came it was nothing like the first one it looked like it had been thrown together very quickly, rest of meal was ok. We were going to have dessert but the menu wasn’t clear enough about the 1 option which was supposed to be gluten free,we asked about it but was just fobbed off that they didn’t have any GF flour,we left without dessert. Such a shame cos it was really nice pub.

The pub and restaurant has a warm and welcoming feel and the food is just great using local ingredients cooked to a high standard, there really is something for everyone. We would highly recommend this place for a cosy comfortabl stay in Mulluon, perfectly situated for exploring the local area, free parking nearby and a great restaurant for light bites or a hearty meal. 5 stars given for facilities and staff.. we'll be back xxx

Decided to come for Sunday lunch carvery. Lovely old pub in a quaint cornish village. Nearest car park about 600 yards away. Plenty of room inside with terrace outside too. Good choice of beers. lagers and of course ciders. Choice of 3 meats, Beef, pork and gammon. You can have, as we did 2 meats. Plenty of choice of veg but would recommend getting there between 12 and 1 as there was not much of each left at 2pm. Gravy is to die for. Rich flavour. Very reasonably priced at £9.50 for small and £12.50 for large. Altogether a lovely meal

Please do not go here for food or accommodation. Firstly, this location, although registered as a hotel offers no accommodation (a fact they only mentioned a week before the check in date, despite booking months in advance). Secondly and foremost, the restaurant was an absolute shambles. Upon arrival, we were told the already extremely limited menu (~8 total main options) didn’t contain a catch of the day or fish and chips (I.e. 25% of the menu was absent). Our order took a subsequent 1.5 hours for the first dishes to come out. These were chicken and chips meals: the chips were cooked in old oil and far too crispy to pass as chips. The chicken meat was also somewhat questionable cooked, so we didn’t want to take the risk in eating. After a further 15 minutes whilst the rest of us were still waiting for our food (1.75 hours after original order time), we decided it was enough and left. The one saving grace was the wait staff who remained friendly and apologetic throughout.

All of these reviews must be fake. I have literally just left this pub and it was disgusting food . I asked for a plain burger and it came with cheese sauce on so I sent it back and it came back in a different bun but it was burned black, it was like eating charcoal. My partner got mussels which came with chips on the same plate looked disgusting, he left it and he leaves nothing especially when he was paying. Waited an hour for the food to come too. You can see why this pub was empty and the only other pub in the village was so busy.

Sunday lunch did not live up to the reviews. Was very poor. Meat ok, cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes acceptable but vegetables were all cooked in vinegar really the worst roast we have ever had. Nut roast basically stuffing with a few nuts, vegetarian gravy was like slime. Lady at the carvery very friendly and good service and tried her best but the food was terrible. Keep it simple with the vegetables, will be much improved.

They were happy to sort out a little cake for us to sing happy birthday and they even treated the birthday girl to a prosecco. This carvery was one of the best we have ever had. Booked a table, definitely do this as the carvery is between 12 and 3. You pay at the bar for your carvery, then take your receipt to on this occasion, the lady doing the carving. I had the gammon, my husband had the beef and pork. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. We had roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, cabbage, carrots, smashed swede, creamy leeks, cauliflower cheese, shallots….which were so sweet, oh and Yorkshire pudding and stuffing balls. We had the Sunday lunch carvery. Reasonably priced (£12 regular carvery, £9 small). The regular size carvery gives you more choice of the meats. Quality of meats and vegetables were good. 4 of us booked and went for the Sunday Carvery. Firstly we we were shown to our table but not told what the procedure was. Two of us went up to the bar and ordered our drinks and carvery. Yet again, not told about procedure. After a short while we all went to the carvery, no staff there. Waited quite a while then the ‘chef’ came out of the kitchen. He was very slow at serving, then had to go back into the kitchen to get more beef. Meats to choose from were beef, Gammon and pork. The choice of vegetables was quite poor, roast potatoes that were really hard and I gave up with, mashed potato ( I didn’t have), carrots, swede, cabbage, cauliflower cheese which was very wet and tasteless, the gravy was very watery and had no flavour. I would not recommend this carvery at £12 it wasn’t cheap and in my opinion very poor quality. It’s one saving grace was that the meat was cooked very well. My friend wanted some ice cream after so she went to the bar to ask, the girl serving didn’t know what ice cream flavours they had so she had to go and check in the kitchen. My friend decided on a flavour then returned to her seat. We waited ages for them to bring it. In the end my friend went to the bar and cancelled it and we left. I think they need to get more staff before the summer rush as there didn’t seem to be enough when we were there last week.

We had steak this evening with peppercorn sauce and blue cheese sauce. The meal was lovely, the sauces were exceptional, cannot fault the meal at all. Our server was Callum he did a very good job he sorted a little problem we had without hesitation. We commend you Callum. However there seemed to be a couple of unhappy customers who didn't get very good service or the correct food and went away unhappy. We could hear their server and his customer service skills were poor. In our opinion this server could do with more training. To top it off as we sat outside the kitchen door was open and we could hear this particular server complaining about the customers. When he came outside I told him we had heard him and he shouldn't be complaining about customers where they can hear, he simply said he wasn't talking about us but another couple who had been rude to him..... In my opinion it should never of happened. Despite enjoying our food we will not be returning.

Mum and I loved this pub. Friendly and attentive staff, helpful and the food served was great. The only thing mum complained about was, "Too much food." The only thing I could complain about was, I had to go home early! Great cheese board, I recommend (as I was) the Garlic Yarg. It was Yargtastic.

Ended up waiting 1.5 hours for food. Food was ok but not worth the wait. The pork was tough and the veggies overcooked.Staff seemed friendly enough.

Very clean but basic, breakfast great, shower not very powerful, bed not the best, it was a shame we were at the front of the building, road noise and view of bins. But fine for a 2 night stay.

The pub has normal pub surroundings, nothing fancy but the food is lovely and really tasty. Good portions and great value for money. The waiting staff are friendly, chatty and really pleasant.

Been going here for over 20 years now. But there's no way I will set foot in here again until it changes hands. All staff especially the female looked grumpy. We had to pay for our food when we ordered which we've never done before. There was 11 of us and all these years have always sat in the restaurant, even though it was empty we had to sit in the bar. Not even any locals in there any more. Come back Cheryl & Pete please it's notvthe same without you.

Went for Sunday lunch today and had the beef, which was lovely. For pudding I had the apple pie and my husband had the Eton mess, both were really nice. My husband hasn't stopped going on about the Eton mess! Service was fab, I can't fault it. Staff were friendly and helpful

Sadly disappointed, we dropped in on the spur of the moment for an evening meal, the restaurant was clean and inviting, we ordered and received our meals promptly, however, the whole evening was spoilt by very noisy people in the bar area, one woman had a very loud laugh that wouldn't have been out of place at Halloween!. The beer I ordered was flat, no head no bubbles, the food was OK but could have been a lot warmer, we were in the old Inn just down the road a couple of days before, I wish we had gone there again instead

The food was nice here, one of us has intolerances and asked for no cheese but there was cheese and it had to be sent back, and then the rest of you either eat and one doesn't or you all wait and have cold food.. seemed to be forgotten about for a long time even when it wasn't that busy but the waitress we had a few times was very polite. Desserts we wouldn't get again and one pizza was as hard as a frisbee which we did mention as the waitress asked, as they could use any issues to improve which was fair enough. We then ordered another night for takeaway and asked for gluten free cheese free burger and other things. Once we had walked back to the lodge to eat there was cheese all over the burger for a second time!! Luckily we had the receipt as the chef told the staff they didn't put no cheese, but she had. They re made it but it ruined sitting down as a family. Plus there were things missing in the burgers no sauce that was on the menu, onions etc so food wasn't as nice and lacked flavour. But disappointed this time as its quite expensive. It gets very busy in here, seems a little chaotic at times. Staff are nice. Would eat in again, but not takeaway.

Right the service was appalling my mother waited in line for a good while whilst I sat down on a table only to be told that it was taken with no reserved sign so I went to the next table only to be told again with no evidence that the table was occupied despicable service will not be returning any time soon.

A lovely meal . The pork had the best crackling my husband has had in ages. Service good at the start but tailed off as the evening went on. Seems to be a shortage of staff.

Visited on a Monday afternoon and wasn’t particularly inspired by the range of cocktails nor the inflated prices. Stuck with just one pint of beer and a Prosecco. We would have loved to have settled in for a few but the overwhelming smell of urine and/or dog was so off putting that we moved on.
