Used to be a great little pub, unfortunately the mind virus is now active in this establishment. From "toilets with urinals" to censorship via permitted topics of conversation. Somewhat surprisingly, you can still get a decent pint of "beer with alcohol" but it's only a matter of time before this is replaced with a range of season appropriate frappuccinos. A real shame.

Just popped in for a drink on Friday night, whilst doing a pub crawl in the area that we used to live 30+ years ago! What a brilliant pub! was lucky enough to arrive just before the raffle was being drawn at 8pm and we were lucky enough to win a prize, but what a brilliant atmosphere in a truly lovely pub. Will definitely be returning and would recommend to all!

What a simply marvellous pub. Super-Friendly, great and ever-changing selection of local beers, proficient and professional bar service, snug and cosy feel, landlord a charmer, great music both live and on pa. What’s not to like?

A proper, traditional, authentic pub! Excellent real and proper ales, amongst other drinks. Nice barman, great decoration (as long as you like StarWars, Bowie and whatever we remember fondly from that era. Customers turning up with music instruments play really well. Shame I live 1500km away. I shall return, as General McArthur said.

What a lovely little pub. Great selection of ale and keg lines - local brews. Worth going out of your way to visit.

I really like it. Serves local Bristol brews with a laid back and quirky atmosphere. Very boardgame friendly with a selection of boardgames in the pub.

Can’t fault this pub. It’s got a great atmosphere, good music playing (rock/alt) and cool trinkets dotted around including a bathroom covered in dolly parton photos. The people are lush with a great owner and good selection of beers/ales. Would love a few more ciders to choose from though! There’s a small seating area outside too :)

Despite advertising food online, they don’t serve food according to bar staff.

Best pub in Bristol by a country mile, love it every time I am here and its my go to pub for when I am on my own - always play films and can have a chat with the barman. Not to mention free curry on a monday, curry is actually banging too!

Lovely little pub, good selection of booze on tap, geared more towards ale drinkers but great little place to sit and have a drink. Live music some nights too.

Great bar staff gave me a choice of lagers to try and taste! top trumps a nice touch (..dont get Raheem Stirling). The soda water was almost too fizzy :) GREAT PUB

After a climb up a hill what you want is a cosy, friendly pub with a great beer selection and the Green Man pub is it. Visited this pub and many others on a recent trip to Bristol and this one stood out from the rest. Thanks for being so welcoming :)

Fantastic beer selection from extremely knowledgable and committed landlord. But the wine and gin selection is excellent too. Great local atmosphere; my favourite Bristol pub among many great ones.

The beers were great, my only problem was that I had a soda water and was blown away from my glass. Too powerful (but in a good way;)

Have to agree with previous reviews. I don't usually order soda water at the pub, but after 17 pints of the finest beers and ales available to punters in Bristol, I decided that a soda water would benefit me and those others who had put up with me for the last 6 hours. Good lord. I hadn't expected that restorative kick to be so impactful! Where on earth does this pub source it's soda water from?

Great night at the pub quiz tonight. Beer well kept (as are the staff!). Soda water almost too fizzy for me, but I let that go.

Beer's well kept but they charge £1 for "soda water" that's gone flat and comes from a soda stream bottle in the fridge, so I honestly can't recommend! Cotham Porter Stores round the corner is much friendlier (and their soda water is fizzy & free)

We had a lovely visit on a Saturday night. The food was delicious and the drinks and atmosphere was fab! Highly recommend. Charlie was lovely and served our food and drinks quickly.

Great decor, amazing selection of rotating drafts and a cozy feel - a must visit if in the area or in Bristol. Brilliant pop culture decor with an old woody local pub feel. Staff are all top people, and the landlord is as good as they get. Pub quiz is hosted by the best in Bristol - funny with challenging but interesting questions. Great game selection from top trumps to board games. Always happy to suggest new beers that have come in.

A gem of a pub. Possibly best in Bristol in my opinion. Loads of competition local but there's something about this one. Small but charming. Good selection of beers and gins. Sunday roast is hands down best in Bristol.... I guarantee it. And I've had my share of roasts!! Owner is a legend as well so go on, go and support your local!!

Popped in last Sunday, quite late. Didn't expect to be able to get a Sunday Roast, but they were able to sort me out and I am very glad that they did. One of the best Sunday roasts that I have had in a pub in Bristol, if not the best. It really put other pubs' offering to shame. I shall have to try to come back again, a little earlier the next time.

Went here for Sunday roast and it was pretty amazing. There were so many exciting sides including a cauliflower cheese croquette, a croquette of stuffing, goat cheese vegetables, the best kale ever. I was sad at first the beef was sold out but then I got the Parmesan crusted chicken and I’m soooo glad I did. I also loved all of the sauces: apple, gravy, cranberry, horseradish- just delish. We also got offered chocolate bars at the end and I have my first Caramel from tunnock and it’s my new favourite. Thank you! Also, we brought our dog and it was amazing!

Love this little place. Has the perfect ambience for a cheeky after-work drink with my partner, as we live just down the road. Barstaff are friendly and helpful. I wish it was bigger, as it seems popular with big student groups or work groups and can quickly get too full, but if anything, that would take away from its charm ❤️

We had an excellent Sunday lunch at this small, cosy pub. A great atmosphere and very friendly, helpful staff. The food was well cooked with lots of interesting vegetables. My beef was perfect (medium roast I should say so not rare but not overdone either!)The rest of the party had pork which they said was delicious. Very large plates so go with a good appetite. Not a criticism - but halfway through a large meal the food was getting a bit cold so possibly our fault for not eating fast enough - or a quick burst in the microwave needed. Great though and we will return.

Just back from a really delicious Sunday lunch. We will definitely be visiting our local pub again. The selection of meat was great but I especially liked the selection of really tasty veg. The cauliflower cheese croquettes were amazing. There is also a great selection of beer, wine and gin. Would definitely recommend this place.

Had a really great sunday roast, great portions and lovely staff. Booked out a couple weeks in advance as its quite small and popular! Only downside was the roast potatoes could have been crispier!

THE VEGAN ROAST WAS AMAZING! The staff was so lovely. Toilets very clean. Went for my housemates birthday and had an amazing time.

Frankly phenomenal. The roast is easily the best roast I've ever had and very reasonably priced. Book a table in advance to avoid disappointment.

Well worth hunting this one down- tucked away in Kingsdown is this Mecca of gin and some of the harder beers to find- they currently have a very rare Budvar (7.5%!) on tap. There's some great old-fashioned pub traditions living on here too, like the meat raffle on Friday!
