The Green Dragon has been my local for many many years. I've never had reason to complain until the new management took over the tenancy this year. The young gentlemen working behind the bar is rude and obnoxious, it seems he would prefer to be playing darts than engage with the patrons. Last night was no exception, general attitude was rude and unpleasant. Me and my group will sadly not be returning to the Green Dragon Pub again whilst this individual is working behind the bar. Many other patrons are of the same opinion and now drink elsewhere.

Very rude Landlady when confronted about drug use in the male toilets,Which i add my young son had to witness, I was disgusted by the response and i was told to mind my own business and kindly leave. I shall not be returning to this pub,And will definatly report this to the necessary authorites.

We visited The Green Dragon last night for the first time since the new landlord took it over. Cliff and his wife were warm and friendly as was their lovely daughter, Molly. The pub has a welcoming atmosphere and decor. The menu is simple but nicely presented. I had the Lamb shank with fresh veg and my husband had the homemade fish pie. Both were very tasty. Highly recommend - we will definitely return.

It’s our (very) local pub and has undergone several reincarnations in recent years. The new managers/owners look to be putting a lot of work into it and we have had a good report. So thought we’d give it a try for lunch as the signs say food served from 12:30 The first thing to notice is that it looks and feels cosier inside than it ever has although the Christmas decorations may have helped. A log fire being lit would have been the icing on the cake for me personally. The sole lady member of staff was very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately lunch was a tad disappointing. The Christmas Menu was referred to but was apparently roasts only and to be honest it wasn’t clear if it was available or not. It seemed that burger and chips was the only thing on offer. Not what we’d anticipated or expected but thought we’d give it a try, as let’s face it, you can’t beat a good burger and chips. Unfortunately we didn’t get one. Supposedly we should have had coleslaw (I say supposedly as we’d not actually seen a menu) but this was unavailable so we had cheese added to the burger instead. Not a problem though. Portion size was OK. The chips were great. The burger itself, sad to say, was average at best. Having seen no menu and therefore no food prices we don’t know what the burgers cost, only what the food and drinks together cost. Overall, given the quality of it I’d say the price slipped in somewhere between ‘slightly dear’ and ‘about right’ So, first impressions of the “new” Green Dragon? Definitely worth returning for a drink for the coziness and friendliness, but the food needs to be sorted out both in terms of what is actually available, visible menus, and more importantly, quality. It’s a shame as we so wanted our inaugural visit to the pub in it’s current guise to be a perfect one. As the food was the main reason for visiting I’m afraid it’s got to lose a couple of dots on the rating

This is our local pub. We live down the road and have lived here for less than 6 months - in that time it has changed ownership twice. Didn't even get chance to try the food as it closed down so quickly!!It is hard to keep it afloat, being an estate pub. The most recent landlord tried her best with regular events such as darts and pub quiz but there is only so much money people can afford to spend at their local.

The staff were pleasant, the decor was very tired but the food lacked a great deal of seasoning. It was a Sunday lunch but it was quite disappointing. Size was ok but they certainly don't seem to put any salt in their vegetables whilst cooking. So, sadly, it was very bland.

Having moved into the area last year , we visited here several Sundays and enjoyed an amazing great value roast dinner in 2017. Sadly our visit last week really disappointed . Lunch was burnt and sent back and the menu choice was nothing special . Having recommended this pub to lots of family and friends in the past , I definitely won’t suggest to anyone to visit here again . The food myself and partner ordered was basic and tasteless and was obviously pre cooked / frozen and lacking freshness . Such a shame because it was such a lovely place to go before new management took over :(

My family visited a week ago for Sunday Lunch to celebrate my mother's birthday. Previously we have only ever heard good things about the food here, but this was a massive disappointment. The starters weren't too bad although the squid was a bit soggy rather than crisp due to being shallow fried as the deep fat fryer wasn't working. The main courses were terrible, cold vegetables and tough, badly cooked meat. It shouldn't be difficult to serve up a decent roast dinner. We asked for English mustard to go with the roast beef, but they didn't have any, a basic condiment when serving beef. The desserts were OK, although the portion sizes were inconsistent. We had to pay cash as the card machine wasn't working either. In addition, it was freezing in there and we had to keep our coats on as we were so cold. We have made a complaint to the new management, but a week later are yet to receive a response. Rest assured, we won't be returning.

Today was our first visit to The Green Dragon since it was taken over & is now ‘Under New Management’. Previously we were regulars like so many others in the village due to the excellent steaks, large & varied menu selection, homemade deep-filled pies and fantastic Sunday Roasts!! BUT... if you still want that DON’T bother going to the Green Dragon anymore. Disappointingly the old chef seems to have gone with the previous management. We all opted today for an Al a carte Sunday Roast and it took ages to come out. Whilst waiting we could hear other diners nearby complaining about the cold food. When it finally arrived the food was luke warm at best, not a great start. The Yorkshire puddings were stone cold, flat & burnt on top. The beef was tough as old boots & the roast potatoes were small & greasy. I would honestly say it’s has gone from one of the best Sunday Roasts venues to one of the worst I’ve ever had. We won’t be going back, and I think my Father-In-Law said it best as we left “that’s another pub struck off the list”.

Visited on a couple of occasions after work for a meal and a few drinks. The food is generally 'pub' food, though better than your regular pub standard. It's not cheap-cheap considering it's a pub, but the quality is excellent. There's a TV in the bar next door too, which does show the odd football game - though check it's on first before travelling, if watching a specific game is your intention.

Speciality steak speciality looking at landlords bare backside. The steak was excellence today and the waiter very friendly and nice but what a shame the landlord looked as though he had just got up and cleaned the floor with his bare back side showing to the guests, shame. The starters of Frisch cakes were good and the steak was good but burnt fat chips? This pub has the chance to be good but it's such a shame when a business does not care the atmosphere and attention to details falls down. No wonder our pubs are closing!

This pub was recommended by some friends a few months ago, who raved about them serving the "best steaks they've ever had, the best steaks in Wycombe".I've had a few poor experiences with ordering steak in the past when eating out, to the point where I'd given up ordering them. So when myself and wife were meeting some friends for Xmas get together I suggested The Green Dragon.Table booked for 7pm on a Saturday. The pub has a nice quiet, very friendly feel to it which makes you feel very comfortable straight away. All 4 of us went for steaks! One asked for it to be well done which prompted the owner to come out for some friendly banter! All steaks were cooked to absolute perfection! Mine was medium and was absolutely melt in the mouth lovely!! Will be revisiting again very soon with our son's as one of them was very annoyed to miss out, as steak is his favourite!Like other reviews massive thumbs up!! Visited as party of 6 on a Monday evening (half price mains Monday to Wednesday). Not the best of décor perhaps, but clean. Staff very welcoming and service prompt (even though, as we found out later, they were one waitress short). We had asked them in advance to get in a couple of items for my dad which weren't normally on the menu and they were very accommodating. One of our party asked on the evening for a soup not on the menu and they even managed to rustle that up too. Every dish on every course was excellent. Booking made for three people for later in the evening. Pleased to get availability. Good menu with lots of choice at very good prices.Nice portions, tasty food (chicken schnitzel, prawn&mango salad particularly good), my small fish salad was quite big enough for me.Polite staff. Slightly slow service but not that bad. However table not wiped after previous diner judging from how sticky it was, and the same also appeared to apply to the external door. Pair of older female diners next to us apologised to many times so they must have had very slow service.I would come back because of the menu - given the reputation of the place I guess maybe they were down one member of waiting staff so it seems unfair to penalise them excessively for this so I have given them 4 stars when perhaps 3.5 is nearer the mark.

Having only recently moved into the Flackwell Heath area, we had yet to try The Green Dragon, but after a few recommendations from friends, we decided to drop in on a whim this evening (7/9/16). The steaks in particular had been recommended so my wife had a 10oz fillet and I had a 10oz rib eye. Both were excellent, served with plenty of "veg" ( chips and wedges are veg right?) and were cooked to perfection. My wife declared that hers was better than a very fine, very expensive steak she had enjoyed at a specialty steak house in New York recently. The waitresses were welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. The absolute bonus was that at the time of writing the Green Dragon currently has an offer whereby all main courses are half price on Mon to Weds ( I hope that is right ... I am sure a call or visit to their web page would confirm of clarify that). We had not known that when booking, so this was a very pleasant surprise to what had already been a great meal. As a result, we enjoyed two fabulous steak meals with side orders of onion rings and a green salad, a large glass of Malbec and pint of Doombar for a fraction over £36. At that price,it would be churlish to give the Green Dragon anything less than 5/5. We will return for more of the same just as soon as our food babies have subsided.A great meal at a very competitive price - even at full price you would not be disappointed.

The Green Dragon is our nearest restaurant and is much improved since it has been under new management. Our group of 5 were made welcome are service was very good. The menu is standard, it's basically a steak restaurant so there are no surprises in the meals on offer but our steaks were enjoyable and my sister-in-law was served a very generous extra portion of sauce at her request (she has a dietary requirement). The lady serving our table was very knowledgeable and well spoken, however the dress code for staff needs attention because there was a definite lack of smartness. The external appearance of the pub is now much more attractive with lots of hanging baskets and a fenced-off area for drinkers (which deters people from walking through the area as the premises are set on a corner), so a considerable amount of effort has gone into making The Green Dragon an enjoyable place to eat and drink. I would not go as far as to say the food is outstandingly good, however it is pleasant and wholesome so I will definitely return on future occasions.

All establishments can have a bad day, starting with a lack of beer and having to ask 3 times to get the correct menus and spilt drinks but when things go wrong, it's how you deal with it that matters. Despite being at our table for a decent period, they choose to take orders from a later table before ours. When this was mentioned, we were given the impression that it would be sorted out in the kitchen. You can then imagine our disappointment when our order was delivered 20mins after the later table. At this point we made a complaint but instead of speaking to us and offering an apology, we were ignored even more with the Manager avoiding eye contact at all costs. The food was hot but average, there are many local pubs offering better fayre. When it was time to settle bill, salt was rubbed into our wounds as we were incorrectly charged for drinks. I took the opportunity to speak directly to the Manager and asked if our complaint had been passed on to her. Yes, it had but apparently it was all down to the chef (nonsense - she's the Manager) and our fault for being a table of 5! At no point was there any apology. So 5 customers left and vowed not to return. Such a shame.

We visited the Green Dragon recently, partially because I had heard about the SA chef and food. First impressions were good...local pub, family friendly, good beer selection and of course a few South African favourites. But, a boerewors roll is boerewors in a roll, not two ends of a baguette with a plate of slide boerewors in bed of tomato and pepper salsa. Most disappointed! But the wors was pretty tasty. Children's sausage mash, chicken snitchzel and fish cake were good. The staff are friendly, welcoming and good with our son. Thank you.

There was no soup and no specials when we visited. Garlic bread was nice. I was really looking forward to my fillet steak as I had heard how good the steak was. Although the steak was cooked as requested, medium, tasty and tender, it was covered in a glaze. Apparently all steaks are cooked with this special cola glaze but there is no indication on the menu. I am sure a plain steak could be ordered if you were aware but we weren't. Thick cut chips were more like wedges. Wine was expensive. Overall disappointing and will probably not revisit.

The dog had the rest over 3 days!Someone had the bangers and mash which again was good-with those sausages again!Wine expensive but I guess like anywhere.A nice pint of Doombar, although second pint was better! Ambience a bit dark in there, Maybe some spotlights here and there. The other side of the bar was full with a good atmosphere and a tv which was handy as we could keep up with the football score!

This pub restaurant is up the hill from our house so really looking forward to trying it outBar man quite nice and really helpful in getting the wine we liked with steakThe young wait staff were quite good The restaurant itself has little ambiance it's quite dark and felt slightly unwelcoming perhaps better lighting would help The starters were alright olives very cold and tasteless, butter in foil pats ,bread tasteless but my husband said SA sausage was very goodThis all sound a bit negative however the steak was very good and worth going forI like my steak very plain med rare ,it came with a glaze which I did not like the chef came out and talked to me and was very professional he took it back and cooked me another also I was not charged totally surprisedIt would not take a lot to make this a much more inviting place to go to

This seems like a nice pub to have a drink in, with friendly staff, but the food was not to my taste. Quite a few of the main courses come smothered in cheese or various sauces, which does not appeal to me, but others may well like this. Playing safe, we all had steaks as they had been liked by other reviewers. Unfortunately they all came covered in a sweet, brown, gloopy glaze. I'm sure they were nice steaks and they were certainly cooked as requested, but I can't say what they were like as any beefy flavour was overpowered by the unpleasant sweetness of the glaze. Sorry I can't be more positive about our meal.

Excellent service, wonderful food and lovely desserts! One guest had steak and raved about it, another moules et frites and loved them. The chicken Parmesan was great too.

My first but definitely not last visit to the Green Dragon. Family of three shared the big starter portion of Boerewors (traditional South African beef sausage). They served it with a tomato and onion chunky sauce and 4 fresh hot bread rolls. We all ordered the chicken schnitzel smothered in a cheesy, mushroom sauce with chips. Very generous portions and delicious! Really good value for money. Friendly service and pleasant ambiance.

Wow - what a hidden treasure! We planned to do a circular walk starting at Bourne End station and this pub was perfectly placed for a pit stop a third the way round. I did ring and book before hand. So on arrival we were greeted with a prepared table in the window by the fireplace. It had a lovely atmosphere and was warm and very welcoming. Our walk was a bit more challenging than expected (muddy which the staff were fine about), so we all agreed we'd earned a hearty lunch and pudding! A roast from the carvery was chosen and we weren't disappointed- three very clean plates!! We all chose a pudding and they were all devoured too! We couldn't fault anything, even one of the staff recommended a different route back to avoid even more mud!! We'll definitely be back, but doing a different walk next time.

I would highly recommend the pub. The carvery Sunday roast dinners are legendary, amazing quality and as much meat as you can eat! Service is second to none, we would never go anywhere else now on a Sunday.

Apart from the fact that the Green Dragon is in Flackwell Heath, not really High Wycombe, I cannot fault the service and quality of food experienced last week. The beef Wellington was superb, and the beer was from a local brewery. Full marks to Mark and his team for making my family's visit so great.

I regularly eat in this restaurant ,it's reasonably priced considering how good the food is the duck is my favourite , they have a kids menu with a menu they can colour in helps keep them occupied , the staff are always very attentive and more than willing to help we recently are here and had the table by the door there was a large group standing at the bar , this was a shame because the other side is the bar area when you spending £100+ you really don't want to feel like your eating in a boozer the staff did ask them to move but they stayed ignorantly chatting I was forced to eat my food with people's bottoms near my food and head , apart from this one event I haven't had a bad meal here and the staff and service is always good

As our English family were over from the States wanted a pub with good food - and let me tell you - this is the best around. The staff were also really friendly and welcoming. The choice of menu is excellent, cannot fault the food (I had fishcake starter with fillet steak and salad main.. the puds were too much for my calorie intake but excellent choices such as, 3 taster sorbet; creme caramel; bread and butter pudding..... Would suggest you book as it was busy even for a Tuesday evening. This was my first time there, but it definately wont be the last.

We decided to go for a meal last minute and booked a table for two at the green dragon. The owner / manager ( South African) was very engaging and friendly. We got a good table near the fire. The table next to us had a few people and he asked if we wanted to move to have a quieter time and a little more space. Not a problem so we said yes. Without any fuss he then offered us desert and coffee on the house. Great customer service! The steaks we had were very good quality and well cooked (medium rare and it was). The waitress was very attentive throughout the meal as well. All in all I would highly recommend the green dragon and we will certainly go back! Maybe even with our children for lunch!

Visited yesterday as I heard the steaks were good. It's not just the steaks that are good, it's everything. Our starters of Pate and Camembert were out of this world!! Followed by filet steaks, which were just simply delicious! Will be returning to try the Sunday Carvery very soon. The waiters are also very attentive and friendly.A much needed enjoyable Sunday afternoon indeed!

Having heard through the grapevine that this local pub was now turning out decent food I figured it had to be with a try, and we weren't disappointed! We all had steak & I couldn't fault mine at all (ribeye). It's not a cheap meal (£21 for a 10oz), but if the quality is good, I'm happy to pay. I'll definitely be back for more.

Visited based on other reviews here. Very busy evening in the pub/restaurant so it took a little time for our starters to arrive, and to get the bill. There was a little kid doing a magic trick at our table to amuse us while we wait - and very good he was too! Steaks were excellent, fish was good too. Kid's cheesy pasta was way to cheesy for us, so avoid this unless you're a cheese freak! Puds were excellent too - with a taster option. Service very friendly, particularly the lady (owner?) server who is very welcoming and efficient. Will definitely be returning.

we booked this pub/restaurant at fairly late notice on recommendation of a local Facebook page and it certainly lived up to the comments! The Carvery was one of the best I have ever had - perfectly cooked and presented and plenty of it AND you could go back for as much as you wanted - including their beautiful meats (I loved the rosemary and garlic lamb BTW). The staff were attentive and friendly but not 'in your face', beer was superb (Rebellion) and red wine delicious. Not much more to say except, if you are in the area, please try it - they deserve your custom!!!!

11 of us had a celebratory meal for my Grandsons 18th birthday. The table was was booked for 2.30pm which we were offered to be able to sit down at when we were ready about 10 minutes before. There was no rush for us to order. 8 of us had the Carvery and 3 ordered off the menu. When the 3 other dishes were about to appear Mark the owner said we could go and get our meals from the Carvery. All the food was cooked to perfection the meat was tender and delicious as were the vegetables. In particular the roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds were to die for. The two steaks and the seabass were also cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend this pub in Flackwell Heath. Thanks to Mark and his Staff

Booked and went without knowing what to expect (I have lived here for 25 years and only been in the pub twice before - first time 22 years ago for a drink, second time 2 or 3 years ago when they did Indian takeaway!). The place is transformed and like other reviewers my steak was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, tasty, tender...(OK my mouth is watering now - must stop...).And, to top it off we got 25% off our main courses! What a bargain.

My friends & I have been eating here regularly for years now - I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Indian or Nepalese cuisine (a good selection of really tasty dishes, good value and catering for different levels of spicy 'heat') and they're serving some more 'traditional' pub fare again now, too. They know how to look after their ales and have a selection of lagers, plus cider and all the usual drinks you'd expect to find in a pub. The staff are great - friendly & helpful, get to know their regulars and I've lost count of the number of times that I've just been thinking that "I ought to go and order food" when, as if by magic, someone will appear to take my order. The place is divided into separate 'restaurant' and 'pub' sections, with a good-sized beer garden in front, so you can pick your preferred setting for food &/or drink. There's a decent car park in front, too, with free parking for customers.

Turned up for a late lunch with the family, told 'we don't do food, haven't for years'. Decided to stay for a drink; slow service, rude (bar staff just stood there staring at us), and then some kid tried to sell us drugs from a menu on his phone. Real classy place. Certainly won't be returning.

We had our wedding reception here for 16 people on the 28/9/24. We were in a separate private room. The Management could not have been more helpful leading up to our day. The food was excellent, all served at the same time and service second to none. The staff were lovely. Excellent service. It was perfect. It was a wonderful afternoon. Could not fault anything. We have eaten there twice before and always been very happy with the service and the food
