This pub/restaurant is an absolute gem! The food was delicious and served with care and attention in a lovely ambience. Yes, the decor in some areas may need some attention, but we couldn't care a fig! Had the 3 course meal and every item was delicious, well cooked and reminded me of a time when people cared about what they served and how it may be received. It was all delightfully cohesive and tasty and good value. The bar area is also delightful. Gentle background tones of 80s music was nostalgic!

After 2 disappointing meals at nearby pubs, this was our last throw and it couldn't have been better. The surroundings were pleasant, the service friendly and the food was delicious and home made, so different from the run of the mill pub offerings and much cheaper. If only we had selected this pub first!

Travelling home and looking to stop for a quick [mid-afternoon] beer. This place was excellent ! There were less than half a dozen people in the bar, but the feeling was friendly and comfortable. I've worked out that I was last there 5...er, 10....well, probably closer to 20 years ago and I must drop in again. 'Merry Xmas to the staff and regulars'.

We have visited The Green Dragon on a number of occasions over the years. There has always been a genuine welcome for us. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The pace of the service is well-judged. It is reasonably quick, but you never feel rushed. When the landlady has realised that we are there for a special occasion like a birthday or wedding anniversary, she has added something extra like an indoor firework in the dessert or special confetti on the table. In the summer, it is a good place to walk to and sit in the garden with a pint. It is great to have The Green Dragon as our local.

We were looking for somewhere to eat as our normal port of call The Bluebell at Callow End is not yet open and as we hadn't been to the Green Dragon for a while, we decided to give it a try. We were shown to our seats by a very pleasant and efficient lady and were happy with the Covid precautions within the dining area, so no concerns there. We both had starters, my wife had stilton and broccoli soup which she loved and I had crab fish cakes, which were ok, if a little on the small side, although I did find the sweet chilli dip a little on the thin side, For mains my wife had smoked haddock and Leeks in a cream and chive sauce with new potatoes and a side salad, she thoroughly enjoyed this, although would have liked a slightly larger piece of fish. I chose Beef Rendang a malaysian curry, with rice. There were a couple of chewy pieces of meat, but all in all it was pretty good. I finished my meal with warm treacle tart and vanilla ice cream, again it was ok, but didn't blow me away. To drink my wife had a freshly made coffee and it was a nice touch for her to have a top up at the end of her meal. A jug of water was all brought to the table without asking, which again was a nice touch and I had a pint of doom bar, unfortunately, the first one brought o me was the end of a barrel and had to go back, but this was done without question and can happen anywhere, the replacement was better, but I didn't feel inclined to have another, I'm sure however we will be back at some point.

Had a family meal for 9 in celebration of my sons 12th birthday. Welcoming was very warm from the off with drinks in the lounge bar whilst we ordered from the menu. We’re invited to sit in the restaurant when our starters were nearly ready and were greeted by a decorated table - nice touch! The lady who was waiting tables worked the entire room (guessing about 25 covers?). She was bubbly and friendly to all. Kudos to her.Lovely gesture for desert with the indoor firework in my sons desert - he didn’t know where to look, but was really touched! The food here is good quality pub restaurant food. The value is excellent - had a special offer of 3 courses for £16.50. Exceptional value. Deserts are homemade and the treacle and ginger tart was delicious.

We had previously on a different occasion pulled into the car park and had funny looks from some people coming out getting into their cars which put us off. On this occasion we entered and were greeted by a lovely lady behind the bar who made us feel very welcome. After some lovely conversation with us she made my daughters (11) evening saying that she would be an amazing netball player and my little boys (4) night as she got a great game out and was more than happy to spend some time playing Chairs with him! I had Sunday lunch here with a friend. Although they do not do a Sunday carvery, the food on the menu was varied and excellent. On another occasion I had booked to go there for my birthday lunch. A friend had taken a surprise birthday cake there for me. My friend apparently asked the chef if he would mind doing the writing on the cake etc. We didn't go in the end as my friend was ill - so he told me about the cake and I went to collect it! Not only had it been written on - beautifully, but the chef had also put a bow and some 'bling' round the cake. I thought that was a really nice thoughtful touch. They didn't charge us any money for doing the cake and didn't mind at all that we had to cancel. Very nice people running the place - I will be back very soon!

Found this delightful Pub/restaurant on a recent visit to Malvern. It appeared to be in the middle of the country, but as we were following the satnav in the dark, could be wrong. We received a lovely welcome and the option to sit in the cosy bar to chose from the menu. I chose chicken in a mushroom sauce and my husband the minted lamb. We had a choice of chips or new potatoes and fresh veg or salad. We both chose the chips with fresh veg. The meal was absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked and hot. It's easy to miss the Green Dragon as it's tucked away on the side of the long straight Guarlford Road. It's also a bit confusing when you go in through the front door: there's a door to the left and the right both of which say "Lounge". However, if you enter what looks like a conservatory you find yourself in the restaurant. It was a warm summer afternoon so the restaurant was about half full as some people were eating outside. The service was quick and attentive without making me feel rushed. I had the soup of the day, asparagus, with some lovely crusty wholemeal bread, followed by a delicious lamb steak cooked in an excellent mint gravy with fresh vegetables. The portion sizes were just right for me, and I overheard another diner ask for more bread and potatoes which they were served without any fuss. To drink I had a small beer and a generous large glass of a very decent Merlot. Having decided against a pudding I ordered coffee which was freshly made and was refilled several times until I decided to ask for the bill.

A very nice restaurant that could easily be missed. The front garden seemed over grown preventing a good view of the building. Once inside the restaurant was situated in a conservatory which over looked a side garden with seating area and childrens' swings. We were pleasantly welcomed and given a choice of tables. There was a group of 15 already seated. The waitress told us that there would be a wait for our food as the chef was cooking for the large group. This was not a problem and we were only waiting 15 minutes. Other customers came after us and were served fairly quickly. The food was very good and was worth the wait. The ambience of the restaurant would I believe be normally quite peaceful, however, the children enjoyed running in and out of the restaurant leaving doors open which did annoy some customers.Overall the staff were extremely pleasant even to the extent that the waitress came out of the restaurant to thank us and say goodnight as she hadn't had the opportunity to do so before we left!

If you want to be insulted and treated with contempt, this is the place for you. Of course allowances should be made for the fact they were rushed off their feet with custom (our table plus one other!). It started going wrong when the main course was brought out while one of us was still eating a starter of olives and home hake bread. When I pointed out we were not ready yet the waitress said "I thought you were only picking at the olives." My response was "no I would like to eat .my main course after I've finished my starter" and I'm no slouch when it comes to feeding myself! "I'll put your steaks to keep warm then" When I complained about this arrangement was told in a loud voice "there's no need to make a scene". As predicted the steaks, when they arrived, had transformed from medium rare to medium well and the sauces were congealed. Needless to say we will be recommending this pompous, empty establishment to all our friends and will be rushing back for second helpings of cold comfort pie.

Pros:- independent pub and family run- lovely staff, warm and welcoming- reasonable prices (£14.95 for a sirloin steak) - non poncey homely food- delicious artisan pumpkin and sunflower seed bread - the setting is suitable for a romantic evening as well as dinners with family and friendscons: some of below aren't really cons but mere recommendations- the food although pleasant enough was a bit on the average side- my sirloin steak came smothered in the sauce. Sauces for steak should be served in a small pot or jug separately. This may be a bit of a personal choice but some people like to pour their sauce themselves.- I am a black pepper lover and use it a lot on pretty much everything but the peppercorn & brandy sauce I had with my steak was way too overpowering and burnt my mouth quite a bit. Use of green peppercorns would have been better and made it more subtle.- we could swear the chips were frozen. If they were, which we are pretty sure they were, then it is very disappointing. Unfortunately the chips in the bluebell inn up the road, which is a chain pub by the way, tasted a lot better and at a third of the price. If you are reading this then please fry your own potato chips from fresh not frozen as we can tell and they weren't enjoyable. - the new potatoes were served next to the lamb but chips for the steak came in a separate bowl so did the vegetables. I'd recommend serving all types of potatoes in a separate dish to be consistent. - loved the taste of the trifle and the generous measure of sherry but it may be a bit too runny for some - we thought it was.

I had deep fried brie - delicious and a steak in a brandy and peppercorn sauce. The steak was cooked well to my request of medium rare and the sauce was good. The atmosphere was helped along by the excellent band playing loudly in the bar. First of all, this pub is not in Malvern Wells, it is on the Guarlford Road out of Malvern, some distance from Malvern Wells. I wasn't sure whether to give this three or four stars, but have given it the benefit of any doubt with a four. I hadn't been there for some years so we stopped off one Thursday evening on the way home from a Cheltenham trip. We went into the bar area to start, which is quite small and very much a locals type room, but we were given a very warm welcome by the lady behind the bar, which is always a good start in my book. With drinks ordered and menus supplied, we chose our meals and were then shown through to the dining area which is effectively a large conservatory attached to the pub. It was about 7.30 pm and we were the only diners at that time, although two more couples did arrive whilst we were eating.Unfortunately, the fish meal my wife ordered was not available, so she had to re choose and opted for a chicken dish, whilst I opted for a chicken and mushroom pie. Our order was taken by a very helpful and efficient waitress who may well have been the owner. To our surprise, we were served bread whilst waiting for our meal and this was well received and very nice indeed, with some excellent butter and I may just have over indulged in this, as by the time my meal arrived, I wasn't too sure if I was still hungry.Sadly, my heart dropped when my meal arrived. I thought I had ordered a pie, but what I got was a small casserole dish with a puff pastry top. Now some may argue that this is still a pie, but as a pie lover, I would argue strongly against that and whilst the dish was tasty enough with a reasonable amount of chicken, I felt somewhat let down by the dish. My wife said her chicken dish was pleasant enough and both of us had veg served in side dishes, but I guess if we call again, I will have to avoid the pie. This certainly has the makings of a decent eatery in Malvern with great staff and a superb view of the hills in the daytime, but I guess if I want a decent pie, it's back to the Bluebell at Callow End :(

This restaurant has a lovely view of the Malvern Hills and advanced booking strongly advised to avoid disappointment. The dining room is very unusual as it is a rather large conservatory and must be seen to be believed. The menu is refreshingly unique for a pub so be prepared for surprisingly good food and excellent value. The staff are more friendly than expected and often the owner cooks and serves the food. In the weekday evenings there is occasionally live music in the adjacent pub which adds to the atmosphere.

They'd run out when we got there!! ;-(The food was lovely- I had home made chicken and ham pie and my wife had haddock in a cheese and leek sauce. As somebody has previously stated, apart from the restaurant, the rest of the establishment needs a bit of TLC, including the garden. I'm sure if that was seen to, the clientele volumes would increase.

A family run pub who cook delicious food, including the all time favourite - home cooked ham in parsley sauce. Their tagine is very unusual to have on pub menu, but like all their dishes is wonderful and good value for money. Can eat in their bar area or in their restraint which is a huge light and airy conservatory with views to the Malvern Hills

When we turned up, our party of 6 thought we had a made a mistake and come to the wrong place. The bar area was a little dubious with a few odd persons. We ordered our drinks then a lovely waitress came and took us through to the restaurant. What change from the bar area and outside. It was lovely and the food was excellent too. Apparently the wine choice was good too along with the beers. So all in all excellent evening meal was had by us all.

When ever I have dined here the food has been good. I can highly recommend the steak in peppercorn sauce which is outstanding! It's not a place you may think of visiting as it's more well known as a pub (the restaurant is in the conservatory) but definitely worth trying out! The staff are friendly. Reasonable prices. Only downside is as someone else mentioned you have to walk through the bar to get to the toilets (which are less than pretty), but then again it is an old building - in need of a refurb! The bar is how I remember it 25 years ago! The newly built restaurant though is clean and nicely decorated. Just a little dark when dark outside! Top end pub food. Far superior to the Bluebell chain place further up the road.

Have lived in the locality for 7 years and never been to this gem of a find on the Guarlford Road. Don't let the exterior put you off this pub as the food and service is fantastic. Food is fresh, reasonably priced and of excellent quality. The service was second to none and the Landlady could not have been more helpful and courteous. We will definately be returning (often) and I would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for good honest food.

Visited the Green Dragon for the first time, can't understand why I have not been here before as it close to were I live. Warm and cosy in the conservatory the staff are very helpful and friendly, love the large tables, you can go to so many places and there is no room to move, not here. The food was excellent, lovely presentation and nice and hot. A must if you are in the area.Keep up the good work and we will see you again.

I am very fond of the Green Dragon which offers simple but good quality cooking often using local ingredients. The menu is encouragingly short, which always gives confidence in a small establishment. The chef can rustle up food for children on request - so no chicken nuggets here!Pleasant dining room with views of the Malvern Hills. Garden (more for the kids to let off steam than for al fresco dining. Tables well spaced and service always friendly. Nothing highbrow - just good in what it does.PS Despite the TripAdviser entry it isn't in Malvern Wells! It's the other side of Malvern.

We must have been to the Green Dragon several hundred times since the current owners took it over many years ago. The conservatory dining room has a wonderful, relaxed ambience. Main courses are just under £10 and favourites include ham and parsley sauce, lamb steak in mint or red wine sauce, steak and mushroom pie, smoked haddock in leek and chive sauce etc. Main courses come with a choice of potatoes and veggies or salad. Excellent, good value wine, two real ales etc. complement the meals. Sweets are of the pavlova, cheesecake type and are very tasty. The service led by the elegant landlady Sue is a model of friendliness and efficiency. My only complaint would be that the toilets need modernising - they are clean but tatty.

The food is excellent a reasonable choice on the menu for most tastes also the wine menu is superb and reasonable staff are all extremely efficient and friendly. The restaurant is in the conservatory part of the building which provides a nice atmosphere away from the public bar with views of the Malvern Hills and garden. Prices seem reasonable and I shall look forward to my next visit.

I do wish the landlord would pay some attention to the beer, I'm sure more people would use the pub if there were guest ales on and some decent beer occasionally.

What a great find close to Malvern - we had a warm welcome from the staff here and the food was excellent. Seven of us were eating in a restaurant that was completely full, with at least 30 diners. This did not detract from the service or quality of the meals, which were all served together, and were piping hot. We had a variety of food, from prawn and coleslaw baked potato (looked so fresh), through baked ham with parsley sauce (home made, very buttery, with fresh parsley), to the more adventurous lamb tagine (nicely spiced, generous with the meat). The views from the conservatory dining room up to the Malvern hills are lovely, as are the home made desserts - a variety on offer and all looked superb. Will be going back very soon.

Grub is first class. Smoking area is a Disgrace though. After a decent meal I like a nice cigar. The smoking are is like a scene from a nuclear war film except the dog is alive and able to cover your trousers in muck. The empty beer barrels and prison like environment must do the anti smoking lobby some favours. Shame really as the grub is good and decently priced. The bar clientele are generally friendly.

Just ate there for the third time and thought I should review, finally! This time around I had deep fried Brie, my Partner had the pate, both excellent, mine piping hot and clearly cooked fresh. My partners toast was warm, as it should be and pate excellent standard. Side salad and bread pieces both excellent. Maybe worth offering either Granary or white although we both like the opposite so it suited us! :)Mains. I had the Pork Loin and I'm a spicy fella so would of liked just a touch more Mustard to the sauce, but I'm being hyper critical. 9/10. My Partner had the creamy chicken and it was excellent 9.5/10 (Nobody's pefect! lol)For dessert we tried one creme brulee, which was top notch and as it should be, creamy, fresh and, again, clearly made fresh and hadn't been stood around. Would of tipped the lovely bar staff and Sue but was not sure whether it would be snapped up by the other waitress, so sorry, but we'll get you next time!!! :DAll in all, excellent, friendly, warm and a lovely little local find for us that we will certainly be revisiting. The live band that were on in the bar area made for a lovely level background noise and encouraged a stay although we unfortunately had to get off, this time!!Many thanks and see you again, Nathan and Toria.

My friend took me here for Sunday lunch. She booked in advance but there was only one other couple in the consevatory. We both had smoked haddock. The portions were rather small, but the food was good, with fresh vegetables, and it was piping hotThe waitress was pleasant but not overbearing. The conservatory is quite nicely done, but the view of the garden is a bit bleak and untidyI would eat here again with some of my skinnier friends but not with my husband... he would come home starving!!!

The view from the conservatory to the Malvern Hills was spoiled by the sad state of the garden. The Sunday menu did not include a roast, and all mains were the same price, so a beef steak or salmon steak (smothered in parsley sauce) was the same as a vegetable hot pot. Not very nice frozen veg and 3 new potatoes per person. One waitress served the whole restaurant and was amenable. The toilets are right through the bar area, passed men playing cards, propping the bar and unfortunately swearing profusely. The Blue Bell further up the road would have been much better, albeit a chain pub, the food would have been much better value for money. On the up side, there is a great garden nursery at the end of the road near the church.

Myself and a friend visited The Bridge for the Sunday Carvery. It was excellent and superb value for money! We had the carvery and a pudding which was also excellent.

Staff are extremely friendly and always up for a great laugh. Portion sizes are very large, great value for money. Wide range of drinks to suit either a quiet night out or even a messy one. Amazing atmosphere all around be it in the restaurant or the bar. I discovered this little gem on accident, it was a very happy accident and I will be returning without a doubt. Thanks Garry and team

When we got there, we saw a sign that said 'overflow car park'. Absolutely accurate, the river had overflowed into the car park, which was now a pond. Service was a little slow to start with but then improved. Food was excellent, so was the company and the atmosphere. Defo going back some time.

Four of us had a light lunch here yesterday. We had hoped to sit outside by the lake but it was cold so we were in the bistro which is lovely. We all ordered sandwiches which were delicious and presented beautifully with a small selection of dressed salad leaves . We all had banana sponge pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream - a bit like sticky toffee pudding but even better. The staff were immaculately turned out, and genuinely welcoming and helpful. This is such a lovely place and we will definitely be back before long.
