The Green in Gateshead

A catch up of what we’d done and where’d we’d been during the school holidays was needed before getting back into the swing at school. Two of us chose the fish meal deal (would have been too expensive otherwise in our opinions), it was huge and white flaky fish. Meals and drinks were I think a bit overpriced in general but good quality, good service and an iconic building.

No air conditioning on the hottest night of the year, no offer of some ice water neither. Table was sticky, carpet is very old and musky. Waitress was very slow and absolutely miserable. Good selection on menu (if you're not vegetarian) I ordered the pork t-bone which was large, meaty and well cooked but the fries had way too much salt and the 'salad' was just some stringy old bits of frisee lettuce. Overall very poor experience.

Poor quality for the price; bring back the old menu. We ordered chicken kebabs and compared with the last time they were significantly lacking. We left still feeling hungry and very disappointed.

I’m posting my complaint email on here after I have received no response to it. It has been sent on Facebook messenger, different email accounts I’ve been provided with several times and I have been back to pub and left my contact details and promised a reply which never happened. Absolutely horrific experience and even worse customer service. Hello, It’s taken me a week to send this message as to be honest I’m still in complete disbelief over my experience at The Green last Sunday. I booked online for 5 of us for our Mother’s Day lunch for my first Mother’s Day. We arrived at the pub to find out that the table which had been reserved for us wouldn’t actually be suitable because we had a pram and it was a high-up table, not to mention the fact that there’s be no way my 98 year old Nannie would be able to get onto one of the high seat. Clearly the website is inadequate for booking. In fairness to the staff at this point they did apologise and sort it. Not ideal my 98 year old Nannie having to stand for 5/10 minutes durning this time though. We booked The Green because you usually do normal food on a Sunday, not just Sunday lunch. Upon booking there was no mention of a reduced menu which I found out when I asked for a normal menu on the day. Very frustrating for someone who doesn’t like Sunday lunch. Nevertheless, I wasn’t going to let this spoil my first Mother’s Day so I decided to order chicken. When placing my order I was told there was no chicken left. This was at around 1:30? It was getting slightly frustrating at this point. The sound of the waitress smacking chewing gum in her mouth and the several flashing lights around the restaurant created a lovely Mother’s Day atmosphere while I was debating my options on what to have for lunch. 45 minutes had passed since we ordered drinks and we still hadn’t received them. My dad asked at the bar how much longer they’d be. He was told ‘we’ll have to look into it’ 15 minutes late, still no drinks. I went to the bar and was greeted by another member of staff smacking chewing gum in her mouth who said she would sort it. 10 more minutes passed and my husband then had to go to the bar to chase our drinks up again. No apology and not even our full order. Our food then came. My husband’s trio of meats came with chicken? We were told there was no chicken left? To make it even worse customers were now allowed to order from the normal menu when an hour previous we were told this wasn’t an option. Apparently this was because there was no food left but there was no chicken left when we placed our order? At this point it now felt like we were staring in an episode of Fawlty Towers as customers were getting refunded because apparently the chef, Big Dan, was in a huff and refusing to cook anymore food? We didn’t dare ask to order anymore drinks at this point with all the commotion doing on. Big Dan clearly wasn’t in a huff very long as we went to the bar to ask if we could order desserts and we were able to. While waiting for them we heard another table being told desserts were taking 2 hours. We asked a passing waitress who we asked to find out how long our desserts would be. She came back and asked for our order because it hadn’t went through. At this point we were laughing in pure disbelief. Our desserts arrived minus a coffee which was ordered and any spoons. Our dirty plates still on the table yet to be removed. Unsurprisingly, no one asked how our lunch was but I think the barely touched food on the plates said it all. I’m not entirely sure what I’m expecting the outcome of this message to be as I certainly will not be returning to The Green.

I have been a regular visitor to The Green for 20 years but unfortunately it has hit rock bottom thanks to the awful management and staff lacking in customer service, they definitely do not look like they enjoy working there. Also regularly supply issues, several times when ordering food I have been told - 'we don't have that' or drnks 'it's off!'- no apologies given, sometimes it is easier to ask what is available before deciding! I am starting to wonder if this is a strategy to loose customer and close down???

We have been here for food several times in the past but and had the odd niggle, however after today's meal we will never go here again. It is the worst meal I have ever had and I could have made a better meal myself at home. Disappointed with the whole experience including the drinks. There were only 3 young girls serving at the bar and tables and although pleasant are not customer service trained. We came home hungry as left half the meal.

Poor Sunday lunch meat was very dry and no apple sauce and I asked for 3 kids lunches and was brought 3 small dinners and told adults can’t have kids meals waited ages for desserts to arrive also and no cutlery for desserts at table staff are to busy to listen to customers went really down hill since our last visit

Fish was extremely overcooked and very dry, batter was very difficult to cut. Quality of food seems to have dropped markedly, would definitely not recommend.

We went for Mother’s Day and pre booked and paid deposit had a booking for 3.30 waited over an hour to get seated and was told there was no Sunday dinners left. Handed us menus ordered came back with dont have this and not this in the end we left after the disastrous starters came out what can only be described as under cooked chicken wings the most disgusting things I’ve seen served up. it was nearly 6pm staff wanted to tell us how busy they were and how many people they had served very disappointing.

Booked table took 20 minutes to find one after 15 minutes queuing to book in. Sat at table a further 20 minutes waiting for order to be taken. This was after a family had been sat down for less than 5 minutes on table next to us and order taken straight away. Food arrived and was cold and quite inedible. Total disappointment. If you’re going to be busy don’t overbook. I wasn’t the only one to complain about cold food somebody took their meal away so they could heat it up at home

Absolute disgrace of an establishment, Incompetent staff that made a complete balls up of a party booking of 20 people. Manager unable to resolve and an area manager that has no customer relation skills whatsoever, totally lacks in empathy and hides behind lower tier management, avoiding speaking to me in person. We have been frequent visitors for many years, in fact way back since it was Dixielanders. Our issue could have been very easily resolved today but management chose not to, bearing in mind it was their error in the first instance. Needless to say our ongoing custom has now ended and also that of family and friends, in fact The Green has lost the custom of around 40 people today. Looking at reviews there are many more that also wouldn't return. This place is clearly on a slippery slope and going to the dogs and it will continue to do so with the lack of customer service skills of the current middle management. Thinking about going here? Give it a miss!

Breaking up for Christmas we decided to go the the Green for a drink as it was a central place for a lot of the staff to meet. The Green is a big smart restaurant/ bar and staff were good, prices were okay and it was nice and relaxing.

We haven’t been for a few months and we’re delighted with the quality of the food and presentation, the price point was just right . All the staff were extremely friendly we had a great visit

Popped in for Sunday lunch. Quickly seated by the friendly staff to a table for two. We were offered 3 menus - regular / Sunday lunch / festive special. We were advised that the chef recommended the turkey on the festive menu. We both ordered the Turkey dinner. The description said it came with buttery mash, roast potatoes, cranberry stuffing, pigs in blankets, pancetta cooked sprouts. vegetables and gravy. The food was NOT good at all. There was no seasoning on anything. The Turkey was dry and looked like a roasting joint you would buy at a supermarket. The gravy was watery and lacking in any flavour. The stuffing had no flavour of cranberry. The carrots were hard and terribly undercooked. The sprouts were undercooked and had not been cooked with pancetta - there were some pancetta pieces thrown over the top to make it look like they had. The mash was flavourless and had no ‘buttery’ taste. The roast potato’s were very crisp but again lacked any seasoning or flavour. The green veg was ok but needed seasoning. The worst thing on the plate was the pigs in blankets which looked terribly undercooked. The bacon fat was still white and looked raw. I was so disappointed. The staff were very friendly and offered to ask for the undercooked food to be replaced but unfortunately when it came back it was much the same and we didn’t want have to ask for it to be replaced again. 2 meals and 2 soft drinks came to £38. We both left most of the food and we weren’t offered any discounts. Won’t be rushing back any time soon

The place is perfect the staff is amazing unfortunately the person who drinks behind the bar and serves costumers pissed and telling everyone that he’s manager then he’s not he’s a trainee manager this person has no idea on how this bar works he can’t even change a keg the rest of the staff know more then he will ever know get him out before you lose your staff because that’s the way it’s heading plus he talks to the staff like crap

Like this pub but just ordered small plate of tandoori chicken with nan bread no veg. £7.00 Got 5 small bits of chicken and a wafer thin piece of what passed for nan bread. When questioned they said they run out of nan bread sorry. Suggest you check availability before paying Such a shame.

Omg how downhill has the food here gone. We have come here for years and it has always been great. We should have known something was amiss when we pulled into the car park and into the pub. Only two tables taken for Sunday lunch. Food was mediocre and tasteless. Service was slow. Fish and chip no taste and dry. Vegan chilli had no taste and nachos were stale. We waited 20 minutes for sauces and had to request it twice. The other two tables were sending food back. Very disappointing

Went for a drink and decided to have a pizza. Pizza was great and fantastic value at 10.95. Shame about the large table of friends in the corner who allowed their kids to run riot and disturb everyone else. Mentioned it to the bar staff who acknowledged the disruption but neglected to do anything about it, other than say they have to be out by 9.30.

Bareable. Would be quite a nice place to relax but for the ferral parents and kids that come here. 7.45 on a Friday evening and still kids running riot. Used to be a lovely pub, not now.

We were a group of 8 on holiday. I booked using the app & had to pay a £40 deposit because it was a party of more than 7 ( but we were out at two tables of 4). They didn’t take the deposit from the food total & im still waiting to get it back. Emailed three times now. Poor customer service from Head Office.

Went for lunch on this bank holiday Monday Always go for the pie and chips if on menu's when where out and about. Went for the steak and ale pie and chips and greens wish I'd taken a photo the pie was from dicksons the bakers but paid £14 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Mentioned this to the waitress who totally agreed you could tell she was embarrassed Never again.

The waiting on staff were very nice, the food was nice however the atmosphere caused by 2 families was disgusting and quite unerving. We were there with a 94 year old and an 86 year old and while waiting for our food a couple of families sitting near us "kicked off" and had a vocal argument . At no time did the management staff come to see if we were ok didn't expect the waitresses to do they were only youngsters.

Nice enough Sunday dinner however the portion size is horrendous. I get it’s meant to be a ‘nicer’ than normal style dinner, but one literal teaspoon of mash hardly any turnip etc…come on. Not enough of veg at all. These dinners are costing £15-17. Absolute joke.

So 12 of us visited here it was booked around 12pm the day of visit which was a Saturday night, which was fortunate as the place we originally wanted didn’t take bookings. When we sat down we were never told about the stock issues they had that night until we were about to order. We had one person on our table change their dish 3 times! Beef Brisket to Ribeye. So now we had 3 Ribeyes ordered then to be told there’s only 1 left then to be told there actually none on 2 separate occasions. So changed to 2 Rumps and a Fishcakes. Had a buttermilk chicken burger ordered but after the burger was ordered told that they didn’t have that either. To then be told that the fishcakes are not salmon but actually cod! We only found this out because when he asked for the ‘Salmon Fishcakes’ he was told they not salmon but cod! Someone else on our table wasn’t told this when this was originally ordered, she not a fan of Cod so that was changed to Gammon! So we ordered around 19:40 and we didn’t get our food till 20:55 we were on the brink of walking out we let the staff know that especially knowing that probably some of our food was sitting on pass considering the time we ordered. When food arrived the Fishcakes looked like someone popped to local Asda and brought just essential Fishcakes! The Rumps that were ordered were supposed to be Medium-rare but one came well done and the other medium-well Gammon comes with an egg but even that came out well done as if it sitting under heat lamps Chips (Correction we were told they didn’t have anymore chips but had fries) were Luke warm at best Some members of table had mushrooms as part of their dish they were partially cooked at best We had a fish and chips order we made it very clear that didn’t want any garnish, Mushy peas, lemon or tartare sauce on the plate at all. Consistent with everything else going wrong tonight, they managed to bring the meal out with everything we asked them not to put on the plate. We were offered to get steaks taken back but after such a wait for our food we refused. The manager told us that it’s been busy all day and that it’s something not in her control? The manager had to call her boss (assuming it was the general manager) about experience this night. He decided that he wasn’t going to charge us for the food but going to call us about this service this night. Absolutely shocked at how bad this was! Considering the standard that other SJF pubs provide from Service and Food! Update: this review was written the night of our visit, I’ve withheld posting this review as I’m waiting for a phone from the manager but it’s been two days since we visited and they haven’t called.

Quite disappointed with food and service. The place was quiet but twice we had to seek service after being left with menus . Sunday lunch with out mashed potatoes we had to order separate at £4 per portion and they forgot about it , nearly finished the food before it arrived . Desserts were eventually ordered and one asked for crumble with custard ( to warm up as it was cold ) it arrived crumble with ice cream melted on the top . When we queried that’s not what we ordered it was take back , only to be brought back with a jug of custard and then told the custard is under the crumble. So custard then crumble then ice cream then more custard. Totally unappealing and a dessert mess !!! Would not visit again at over £18 for Sunday lunch if you want mash a bit too pricey.

What a strange, mixed bag of an experience. The food was largely very nice. My pie and accompaniment was delicious, a tasty starter too. The dessert was frankly awful. Quite evidently a store bought pud, would have cost about £1. Charging over a fiver for it. But the really odd bit was the service. The waiter was rude, bordering on confrontational. It truly was like it was an inconvenience us being there. I won’t return.

Having been unable to eat in two other nearby places we just happened across this little gem, the staff couldn't have been more Accommodating as I have difficult dietary needs. They were able to whip me up 3 dishes that were suitable for a vegetarian being wheat gluten and dairy intolerant (celiac), they had a comprehensive allergen list and were unbelievably attentive. If I could I'd give more than 5 * The manager Alex and his staff were so welcoming and I look forward to returning

From the welcome at the entrance as we came into The Green, to the extremely helpful staff who accommodated both our little dog and dietary issues, I would like to highly recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The manager, Alex, was caring making sure everything was perfect and checking if they could do anything to assist. So glad we stumbled upon this restaurant and will definitely be back again whilst we are here on holiday.

Booked late on for lunch due to local rival having to close their kitchen due to Covid . Have been a customer of this establishment for over 20 years and have rarely had a complaint. After ordering drinks with the waiter I used the App to order 2 courses , starter and main for me and main and desert for my wife. Order went through at 3.07 and within 15 minutes had received my starter and drink. By 4.10 we weer just about to give up when the manager Kevin asked if we were ok . he arranged for our meals to be brought out and reimbursed my money . The meal was very nice , but due to the high prices and the service I think it will be a long long time before we would consider going back to the Green.

Very slow service meal came and had to ask where drinks were and got the reply “that’s the bar staff to do”Female server no mask and bending over table she also had a really sullen attitude . This used to be a very good restaurant however food dry and tasteless gone down hill very quick. We have been going here for twenty years and I don’t think we will be back such a shame a good pub has went down hill so quickly

I’m finding it hard to see why people are so negative about this place!I work in hospitality (not at The Green) and it’s not an easy job!I visited The Green on the off change with my family and the dog. We were seated outside and all covid precautions were explained and all the staff were wearing mask, which I can tell you isn’t nice on a long shift running around in the temperatures we’ve been experiencing recently. We ordered on the app and the food can quickly, much to my little boys delight. Yes the food is expensive but so what….. it’s a treat!We only planned on having a quick bite and a drink but the service was so good and efficient we ended up staying longer than expected. Attended the green for my mother’s 94th birthdayThe whole process was complicated and tediousIn the extreme.....log in and follow the links for the computer literate onlyAdvised we had to pay by credit/debit card as soon as the payment was receivedthe meals appeared as if by magic.....obviously pre plated and kept under a heat lamp ready to be rushed out.The meal was barely warm and the beef was obviously sourced from some old carpet complained about the temperature of the food and mine was replaced but effect was little different....complained to the waitress and God love her she was embarrassed and couldn’t apologise enough......the poor girl went to fetch the manager who after 15 minutes failed to materialise.......as simple acknowledgement from the management would have sufficed but alas it was not to be. Will never darken their doors again.Such a shame that a venue with a good reputation have has slid so far down.Never again

Absolutely no vegan options at all. If you have a dairy intolerance then go elsewhere because this restaurant do not want to cater for you. Only 1 main option is suitable for vegetarians out of the entire menu, with around 20+ different main dishes in total. We had to specifically ask for an option, the waitress was honest and said they do not cater (what a way to limit your customers!), and came back from the chef and said they could do the one and only vegetarian meal but take away the sour cream. Granted the meal was very tasty, although there was no alternative to replace part of the meal removed and nothing to make up for one less thing on the plate. No desserts available at all as every single thing had dairy in it, therefore only left with the option of coffee, and no surprise they did not have soya, black coffee for dessert it was. Disappointing, shame for them really as the food was good and the staff were friendly but we would never return as it seems they have no intention to cater for anyone who cant/doesn't want to eat an animal or their secretions. There are restaurants that DO offer options and we will be taking our custom elsewhere. Poor decision made by the owners to be like this, it doesn't take much thought and a bit of creativity (at the very least), it's 2020...

Declined entry after walking 30 mins to get there, weren’t told when booking we needed to wear masks til seated. No masks at bar, told to go home and come back.! Think not. Poor communication, government state no masks in pubs and restaurants. Bad management and lost my custom ! I know we are all just getting used to this but good communication is key, if you want customers to wear a mask TELL THEM AT POINT OF BOOKING.

Came with my sister and her partner recently for Sunday lunch - I was absolutely amazed by how clean and well presented it was inside. The staff were more than lovely and the Sunday lunch is incredibly delicious - not the cheapest of places but worth it if you fancy a nice meal out!

We had not been to The Green for a while so decided to give it a try. Plenty of space in the restaurant and we were seated quickly. The service was good, very attentive staff who were not too pushy. However the food was not great, we both chose fish and chips which came with mushy peas and tatare sauce. The fish batter was quite greasy, my wife thought that the oil being used was probably too old and needed changing. The chips were advertised as twice cooked but they were not great either. The bright spot was the serving staff.

Shared a starter with a friend, at £7.95 would have expected a 4 prawn starter, was advised there was only 3, but only 2 arrived, a prawn cigar and 1 halved, it was tasty, but not enough. Chose crispy skin salmon for meal at £12.95, a small piece of salmon that had become dry while trying to make the skin crispy, but worse than that, there was only a tiny handful of vegetables. Really not good! On the plus side, it was fizzy Friday, and a nice bottle of fizz for £12 and a lovely sticky toffee pudding, but at £6.95 so it should be

I’ve been meaning to visit for a while, however never really got around to it. Today I took my mother out for lunch, let me tell you I was not disappointed. From the moment we walked in the service was great, we were promptly greeted and walked to our table. The service staff were all very friendly. The dining area is set in a relaxed decor, very stylish. We ordered a Lamb and Pork Sunday roast, both dishes were served hot and well presented, the portion size was perfect too. We didn’t wait very long for the dishes to arrive either, again with very attentive staff offering condiments etc. Overall a very pleasant visit, we’ll definitely be back. Compliment to the chef!

For the older readers among us, it was initially The Dixielanders. Now it is a very pleasant hostelry, with a separate dining room, lovely lounge/bar/dining area, and the separate normal bar area.The menu is varied, the prices are fair, the quality is good. The staff are very friendly, and there is a broad range of drinks available. Several good real ales, which are changed regularly, along with a large choice of your regular beers and largers.Great for Sunday lunches, weekday lunches, or that special occassion on the evening. Always a nice atmosphere, no matter what time you visit ... well worth a visit.

Visited with friends had 4 meals 2 pork 1 salmon and 1 mince dumplings , all very tasty but the portions were tiny . The salmon was the size of a fish finger , pork 4 tiny pieces square of potato, spoonful of creamed leek , mince an dumplings had no potatoes tiny bit of veg. Would love to go again but I was still hungry , when I said meal was tasty but portion too small was told well buy a sweet £5.95 . The meal was £13.95 . Well really ?

I have been away from the north east for 9 years and visited the green over the Christmas period. I was very impressed with the price of the beer, quality and selection of food. On New Year’s Eve the free entertainment were very good. The the green offers many verity with a sports bar, large lounge and restaurant area. All the staff were friendly and efficient

Yet again this establishment always delivers... Exellent quality food at reasonable price. This said prompt service yet with friendly waiting on staff.

Great choice on menu, well recommended, can't wait to return. Will be back in January for hobbies birthday. We all enjoyed it

We ordered various meals and everyone loved their meal. The vegetables were seasonal and beautifully cooked. My chille con carne was delicious although tortilla chips would have been better not deep fried but baked. Mince and dumplings was loved and cottage pies were given the thumbs up. Atmosphere was lovely, nice and warm on an exreemly cold night. Service very good. Thank you

Decided to have a meal here on a Saturday night. Service was quick and efficient.Both the starter and main meals were presented well and were to a good quality.

Me and a friend visited hoping we would be served relatively quickly as it was quiet. We waited 40 minutes before asking staff and were given a cold, unapologetic response.When I asked staff to reheat my meal as it was cold this was also deemed a massive problem. Overall food wasn’t great and staff were terrible.

Arrived on a Friday night after work, me and my partner just picked a table and ordered our food, after giving up on waiting to be seated. Sat and waited for food to arrive...waited....and waited...lots of food coming out but not ours....waited....35 minutes past and I gave up, went to bar and asked what was going on, to be told ' we have failed to process your order, sorry about that'. So I complained, manageress was clearly not bothered, no explanation, just said 'do you want the food or not'. Ended up leaving and going home for food as could not be bothered to wait anymore. Even sent a letter of complaint in to Sir John Fitzgerald company whom own the pub. Guess what, no reply!! Sent in a letter two weeks ago -no acknowledgement at all. Disgusting. Even messaged the pub on facebook and was also ignored with no reply. Service is the worst I have ever seen they do not deserve customers.

5 of us met there for lunch on Thursday...all main meals around the £12 + mark and a complete waste of money. I chose steak pie with fries and Veg. It consisted of a small 4 inch pie... a little basket of insipid fries and a few sugar snap peas and two slices or corgette ...but the steak was so tough I couldn't cut or chew it so it was sent back and replaced with 6 tiny bits of scampi. My friends chose a watery cottage pie, another a thin gravied mince and dumplings....another a a weird curry and and lastly a stale bun Sarnie with soup. None of us were impressed as the portions were absolutely tiny...but to be fair the serving staff were nice. The portions were so small we were all still hungry, but to be honest all but one of us begrudged another £5+ pounds so did not Order desserts....We agree that we would never eat there again and certainly would not recommend it to anyone! what a shame as a nice bar and seating area and friendly staff. For those prices the food should be of a much higher standard and more on the plate too.!!!

Food was lovely, well presented and decent portions. Staff are fantastic and very thoughtful and attentive to customers needs.

We held a birthday party here today (21:09:2019) for Mother’s 90th birthday, I must say each and everyone, thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Not easy when catering for the taste of 21 people. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the venue was warm comfortable, without the usual loud music or sports on television. I would highly recommend The Green, for any celebration, and we will certainly be back again for a meal.

I have eaten at The Green on several occasions with parties numbering from two to eleven ,from Christmas menu to midday lunch and have never been disappionted . The food is freshly cooked and well presented The staff are polite and truely helpful .giveing assistance when ever required . I will reccomend this bar and will eat here again in the near future

Been coming here for years and can’t praise the establishment enough... there are people on here who like to complain and it’s not justified..... I eat out a lot all over the world and the food here is excellent. I keep saying this if you have a problem say so otherwise be quite. But to write negatively on this site boils my blood. Service here is excellent they can’t do enough.... keep up the good work guys...

Visited on Tuesday for a meal for daughters birthday hadn't been before but had heard lots of good things so decides to try NEVER AGAIN service was ok can't complain but the food was appalling dumplings that couldn't even be cut they were that hard crispy duck that was so crispy it was unedible told the waitress just to be told ah am sorry about that and that was it will never return

The Green is one of my favourite eateries always good reasonable and nothing like a wetherspoons.when I've had a problem at the Green (hasn't been many) the staff and management are polite and can problem solve...keep up the great work!

Nice pub in general tbh however we decided to have a quick drink in the bar first and for about 10 mins we thought we had missed last orders, literally not a single member of staff in the bar area (after talking to some of the regulars as we waited to keep us occupied we discovered this is standard)

We had a lovely family meal here on a Saturday night. We were a booking of 9. All meals were cooked to perfection and enjoyed by all. Afterwards we relaxed with more drinks without being chased on for taking up space. The service was excellent and we were regularly asked if we needed anything else. As we left, those serving our table thanked us which was a lovely touch.

Called in for lunch on Easter Monday and the eatery was full.. service efficient and food of the highest quality. Well presented

Had the sweet chilli skewers and they were delicious, generous portion too. Service was excellent definitely recommend anyone try them.

My first visit in a long while and I really enjoyed the food. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and it was a lovely relaxing atmosphere after work. I won’t leave it so long next time!

Been to The Green on numerous occasions and was not disappointed last night. Whilst the menu is not extensive food is of a high quality and good value for money. My wife and I both had the same meal from the Specials board that was sizzling chicken with peppers and onions in a beautiful sauce served with rice flat bread and fries. Would fully recommend, Sunday lunches are worth a try. Staff were friendly courteous and helpful. Will obviously go back.

Myself and friend visit on a monthly basis. Today was the worst ever and no one seemed to care. We always sit at table 31 which we did today. The place was almost deserted and it took a while before anyone seemed to realise we were there. Menu choice was awful, when we asked about it we were told it’s changing ‘ tomorrow’ that was no good ata all for us. I chose pasta and friend Hallumi sandwich. Both did not look appetising at all, and weren’t. When we were asked if meal was ok we said no not really but wasn’t anything else, staff member not at all concerned. When we asked for the bill as we just wanted to leave we mentioned again that food was of very poor standard today, person was not at all bothered. We would usually have a desert and coffee but had neither today as no one was at all interested in us. Used to be our regular place but will be looking for somewhere else to meet for lunch.
