The Greave Dunning in Wirral

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday. We ordered our drinks to the table which arrived promptly by a lovely member of staff who's name we unfortunately did not get. What was unfortunate happened when we left the table and decided to have a round of jager bombs at the bar whilst waiting for our taxi. A lady behind the bar asked me "Who are these for?" And "This isn't a shot bar you know so they are going to be more expensive". It felt very condescending considering we had a round brought to our table of 3 without comment twice before. It certainly isn't your issue how and where I wish to spend my money. Don't advertise them if it's going to be a problem and brush up on your manners.

Poor service and not very inspiring food at all on the menu.

Chose the expensive beef rib with mac and cheese……the beef wasn’t wonderful but the mac and cheese was dire….no cheese and no taste

I really love this pub. It's very popular. The staff members are really helpful and the food is great.

We were greeted by a friendly lady behind the bar who made us feel very welcome and seated us. We seen a gentleman serving tables who was very efficient and did not stop. It was very busy when we visited but the staff did not stop and worked really hard. Our food was very tasty and the steak was cooked exactly as requested. Although busy we didn't wait too long. Overall I was very impressed with how hard working the staff were.

Visited several times & always found the quality of the food very good. We had Hunters Chicken Schnitzel 👍We have been looked after on each visit by Ben ? who is a hospitality professional & is very good at what he does

Always a welcoming atmosphere and genuine and friendly staff. The fixed price lunch menu is good value, however the choices are not as varied as some other pubs.

Recently given a facelift. Food is good. Can order from your table. Can get very busy. Booking recommended.

Ordered the bacon chicken avocado sandwich with fries was a very tasty sandwich easy access for disabled however when booking ask for a table downstairs

The food was delivered on a bike from over three miles therefore, everything was stone cold. A gravy had tipped over in the bag. So, fifty pounds wasted never again will I order from there.

We used the pub for a funeral wake. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the area made available for us was welcoming and comfortable. The buffet was tasty, but there could have been larger portions. eg paid for a buffet for 28 people but there were only enough of some dishes for around 12 people such as chips, breaded mushrooms . Across the buffet though there was enough food for everyone and lots of sandwiches left over.

Family dined here for lunch to celebrate a birthday. We went here after an amazing family meal over Christmas (after a revamp). It is so sad to report that standards have slipped since Xmas. For starters, no gammon available and no other steak apart from rump. ALL meals in our party of 9 were edible, and more I will not say. Staff are great, pub is lovely and warm. Don’t know if the kitchen staff has changed? Won’t hurry back now.

We went on a Sunday with a slightly different menu. We had steak and our little girl had a lovely chicken roast dinner. We visited with family and their one year old. Children were well catered for (high chair already set up on our reserved table) and the table was reserved under our daughter’s name which she loved! The food was great and the service was above and beyond 🌟

4 of us went for lunch on Sunday and we were all very impressed! Lovely food, nice atmosphere and we were sat by the fire which was even better. I had the Sunday Duo, turkey and gammon roast dinner, very tasty!

Delivery person refused to enter the apartment block saying he wasn't allowed despite me saying on the intercom to push the door open. I am a disabled person and he made walk despite my walking difficulties to the secirtudoor to pick up my orderf

Warm cosy atmosphere, very friendly staff and a great menu choice. They had a fantastic offer on food which we took advantage of. Can highly recommend

steak I ordered was very chewy and the order of Peper corn sauce was missing . Also ordered brownies which were missing as well. totally disgusted with the meal. Won't be ordering from the greave dunning in greasby AGAIN

We had a great family meal with drinks, service at the bar was superb, no long waits to be served. The staff at the Greave Dunning are a credit to Jon the landlord.

Great meal on Christmas day. Had traditional Christmas dinner. Loads on plate and well cooked. Staff spot on. We went for a later service but they were all still smiling and attentive without being intrusive. Couldn't fault a thing. Thanks for giving us a Merry Christmas Jon and team, cheers 🍻

Went into Greave Dunning with family we were visiting in Greasby. My husband went to the bar to order the drinks which was a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, a Bacardi and Coke and was served by Lewis who was very abrupt and none communicative. He had a couldn’t care less attitude, he filled the Bacardi and Coke glass right to the brim I had to ask for a slice of lime. I returned to the bar to put in my food order and was served by Ed who was completely opposite to Lewis he was so courteous and friendly.

Christmas day was the best at the greave dunning. So relaxing, The service and food was excellent. Thank you ALL for a very merry Christmas.

My wife and I really enjoyed our Christmas Dinner here. The service was attentive and very good. The food was well cooked and very tasty. Perhaps the gravy could have been a little thicker.

Quiet cosy pub in Greasby with nice atmosphere and pleasant staff with plenty of parking space. Tried the 3 course set lunch which was great value for under £13. Recommend the nachos, Fisherman's Catch and Sticky Toffee pudding.

Great night out. Nothing was too much for Vicky who made us feel really welcome.

Food was awful husband ordered surf and turf medium rare. Three prawns and a very small piece of steak which was extremely well done and dry. I ordered a burger which was very dry with a handful of chips no garnish etc. Very disappointing.

Lovely pub but food has got to improve. Had steaks me and my wife My sirloin was OK but my wife's was disgusting. Full off grizzle should change your steak supplier I have deleted my amber app Don't think I will be returning for food Nice pub thow

Nice atmosphere, cosy with the fires on during winter. The staff can never work the app, though. Service is good. Food is pretty decent.

Salad had a dressing that tasted "off", the waiter said he had thrown it because two people had said the same thing. I hadn't eatten much, just the bits I could pick at. He offered a drink or dessert but I was put off by it and would rather have had my money back. Wasn't offered. Edited to include what salad I ordered... The dressing and grain was mixed together. Avocado and Mixed Grain Salad (VE) Bulgur wheat, giant couscous, butternut squash, red onion and cranberries, mixed with little gem lettuce, fresh sliced tomato, cucumber and ripe avocado tossed in a zesty pineapple & ginger dressing.

Ordered rump steak with chips, onion rings, mushrooms, tomato and peas and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely have steak again. Plus we ordered prosecco which was so nice and was on special offer. Staff were amazing and so friendly. Definitely recommend coming here

Nacho starter had no melted cheese, more sauces than nachos. My burger came with ordinary chips and not skinned fries. Will not be returning in a hurry.

Lovely evening celebrating my Grandaughters 16th, food was excellent, and many plates were cleared, staff were very helpful, the chips could have done with a few more minutes, had the Tikka Masale, which is about as adventurous as I get when it comes to food, will be going back again

Had a fab Sunday roast here yesterday and took advantage of the discounted desserts. Great food and puddings to die for! Staff were friendly and efficient. We will be back!

Foods lovley. Very homely interior

Great large local pub, a real community hub. The staff are brilliant, funny & kind. The beer holds its head for the full pint showing they know their craft and the choice is multiple, interesting & tasty. The food is standard pub fare with good sized portions. The thing I like the most is the building itself, nice layout with local photos and pleasing decor.

Food was great as normal . Staff are always pleasant and always take the time to talk to you even though there busy

Meals arrived in good time. Service was pretty good, although we did have to ask for a few things that were missing. Bar staff were helpful. Place was looking a bit tired, but it is due for a revamp.

Have been coming here for many years and there has been a slow decline in the standard of food and the availability in the basics. From a lacklustre chicken to overly fatty gammon. The “crispy” roast potatoes were undercooked the carrots and parsnips were over cooked and the leek was 1 inch thick. Dunno where they pulled dessert from however because that was heaven. Though not sure if I’d describe the custard as “thick” Staff are all amazing however, very helpful and understanding and good for a satire joke. I think it’s a shame given the competition on the wirral is so high this restaurant just needs to aim a bit higher. I wish you the best but I will not be returning any time soon

Came for a Sunday roast. Was very disappointing, ordered the Sunday Duo, but got hardly any chicken, the gammon very full of fat and hardly any meat, veg was stone cold and hard, we werent given roast potatoes until we asked and when we got them they were cold and like rubber and couldn't even cut them. Did get a refund though. This was only our second time here the first time we came we had a mixed grill and it was black and burnt but we thought we would come back and see if its any better, I won't be back again. Avoid.

There was 4 of us and 2 were disabled my mum is 91 and brother 70 . When it was time to order we all wanted the steaks or mixed grill, we were told then sorry but the grill is broken. They had my number I feel I should have been messaged to be told about grill!!! I couldn’t possibly of been able to transport 2 disabled people and start to search for another restaurant. Staff were really nice, that’s the only reason we stayed. I would of liked to have been able to give a nice review

Great place and good value for money.

Mains were served at the same time as some of our group had just got the starters.

Love this place . Go there quite regular but last night we sat with our empty dirty dish's on table all night. They were not collected. We had to put them on an empty table which I don't like to do. Maybe just short staffed.!

Nice pub, staff friendly but the Sunday roast was disgusting the potatoes were frozen potatoes , veg was rock hard the 1 star was for the staff, do not waste your money or time.

Went there on Saturday night for our grandson's birthday. It was extremely busy and I thought oops a mistake. How wrong I was. The service was excellent quick and efficient. My wife and I had chicken nuggets for starters, the were delicious as was our main course of lasagna. I would heartily recommend this place for food and service

8oz sirloin steak, would of been better with more chips, we ordered curry meal but was missing onion Bhajis which was a let down but was Ok Good size portion for kids meal and cheesecake was more enjoyable.

Went in the pub the other Wednesday, great meal and lovely atmosphere. Was served by Keri, she made sure we had everything we needed :)

The staff were absolutely fantastic. Friendly and very attentive. The bar/restaurant areas are comfortable and clean. The food…I will NEVER eat here again. It was steak night and so we had two ‘sirloin’ steaks which was an extra £2 supplement for each one. What was served was a shrivelled lump of fat with a string of meat through the middle. We had both been in work for 14hrs prior to this and were really hungry. The portion size was that of what would be expected of a child’s menu. We had a chew of the fat, finished our beers and left. I did tell the chap who cleared the plates how dissatisfying the food was but he laughed but I assumed he thought I was joking

I was in the Greave on Wed 5th June and had a lovely meal, service and staff were amazing. Definitely be back.

My mother and I visited the greave for a late lunch and really enjoyed it I had the ham egg and chips with the eggs done how I like them Mother had the Haddock and chips no complaints there We had a bottle of pinot and a nice pint of coors lager from the bar With friendly bar staff including the two ladies Jaqueline and ceri Well done all

Very disappointed today when I visited the Greave Dunning with my husband and family friend , I ordered the grilled sea bass from the classic menu . The meal was very bland , potatoes were boiled when it stated sauté , sea bass no colour to them considering they were supposed to be grilled, prawns were rubbery and tasteless , when I spoke to sever he replied O. Very disappointed and won’t be returning again .

Easy to book a table on website, lovely surroundings and the staff are great. Food really good and quickly delivered to table.

I have been coming here for lunch on a regular basis for years and always found it a pleasant place and good food with a good selection of beers and drinks. Seems to be quite a popular place.
