I was there yesterday They really need to get rid of the smell in the gents toilets. A bottle of bleach in each of the urinals overnight would fix it. And why doesn’t the urinal flush with water? Surely that’s not acceptable. If they aren’t worried about a public area, I’m not sure I’d be happy to eat there. Just being honest b

I ate at The Great Western the other night whilst staying at the Mercure down the road. The food was excellent. Massive portions, chicken tikka masala was divine with a decent kick to it, and the garlic naan was fabulous. Price was very good too! Unfortunately the service let it down, and was borderline rude, and the whole atmosphere was rather unfriendly. I wouldn't be too keen to eat in the there again as a result, but would definitely get a takeaway.

Very ordinary looking pub in Hayes on main road. But if you are in the area you must stop by for the best Indian Food I have had. Lovely staff and certainly excellent chef. The rice was beautifully separate grains and flavoured with almonds raisins and coconut. Peshwari rice, obviously freshly prepared.Yes the pub has TVs and racing enthusiasts using pretty rough language which added a bit of local 'colour' if you can call hearing the 'f' word about 500 times 'colourful'!! Interesting though.Back to the food. The reason why I gave a 5 star review.

The menu is predominantly Indian cuisine but there is an English section on the menu and they have a children’s section. The food was well cooked and well presented. They are large portions and reasonably priced although the menu states 2 for £10 we found out when ordering it had to be 2 of the exact same dish which wasn’t evident from the menu. If staying in the area again we would return.

Working as contractors we visit many pubs in random places we've never been. This is the first I've visited and felt compelled to write a review on trip advisor. The management and staff run a very tight ship here and do it very, VERY well. We were made to feel very welcome and felt like we were amongst friends. The bar service was second to none. I didn't even need to tell them my drink order, they already knew what I wanted. A round of 5 drinks and a snack for myself came to just £21! Very reasonable prices given the location. Then there's the food. Oh the food. If you like a good curry then I can't recommend this place enough. No boiled chicken with a sauce lobbed on top here. Real home cooked, only using fresh whole produce. A mixed grill came Sizzlin for a tenner.I couldn't praise the staff and management enough. Highly recommended and I will certainly visit again if I'm back in the area.

I had the chicken and ribs combo and wife had the lamb karahi with onion bhaji and rice. The lamb was beautifully tender and it was all washed down with a couple of Thatchers Gold ciders and gin and tonics whilst we watched England beat Fiji in the rugby. The pub is run by a very hospitable manager who made us feel extremely welcome and it was good to see him very much hands on working with, and supervising, his staff. We stumbled upon this pub during a walk from a nearby hotel where we spent three nights. The banners outside advertising specials in Indian cuisine persuaded us to try lunch therein. It turned out to be a very pleasant experience, in spite of the fact that some of the interior could do with some renovation. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful. The large television monitors were perfect for watching sport not available on free-to-air channels. The highlight was the superb North Indian food on offer. It took a while to arrive, but when it did, it was well worth the wait. My favourite dish was the fried cassava chips, a dish not normally available in Indian restaurants outside the UK. The food and drinks were very reasonably priced. The heating was at a beautifully cosy level. One disappointing feature was the poor condition of the toilets.

Ate here with a colleague whilst staying in a hotel down the road. We had a Beef Lasagne and Scampi and Chips. Alarm bells should have rung when we had to ask for a second knife and fork (1st set was dirty). The waiter shrugged his shoulders at me instead of giving an apology. Food tasted alright but 1 hour after we left the pub both my colleague and I had the runs and I was up all night vomiting with diarreah so I couldn't work again until the following mid-afternoon.Went back the next afternoon to complain and get a refund. After some initial denials I did get a refund. My advice would be not to eat here!!

The Great Western advertises English and Indian food. The English menu is what you'd expect from a pub: lots of things with chips. You order at the bar. The staff were very friendly, and let me keep a tab open without even having to leave a credit card. It's large, with plenty of tables inside and outside, so it was easy to find a seat. The food was acceptable, though lacking some of the components listed on the menu. My scampi and chips was just that, without the advertised garden peas or wedge of lemon. And the Bailey's ice cream sundae was just a large glass of ice cream, without the whipped cream, flake, or chocolate chips — it was very nice though: decent quality ice cream. I wasn't bothered enough to inquire for either course as to why parts of it were missing, but it's something to watch out for, and it'd be worth memorizing the precise description of what you've ordered, so you can challenge it as it is served even if there isn't a menu to hand. The scampi arrived with a condiment tray. This didn't include ketchup, though the one served to the next table did. This seemed particularly bizarre, since they'd all ordered curry! I wish I hadn't bothered borrowing it though: it dribbled out of a plain red squeezy bottle, and was very thin with a bitter taste which actually made the chips taste worse. The sachet of tartare sauce was fine though.I'd eat there again in the same situation — I was staying in a nearby B&B and was looking for somewhere to eat. It fulfilled my needs adequately, and I wandered off sated.

We've had fish and chips here twice since we have been aware of it. The first time was fine and perfectly adequate although not the biggest portions. Tonight was totally different. Same order, 'bitty'
