The Great Moghul in Eastleigh

Thoroughly enjoyed a meal with good quality food and fantastic service

I frequent the Great Moghul a couple of times a month for a takeaway, and very occasionally pop in for a sit down meal. Each and every time I have been here over multiple years the standard has never dropped and the meals are always fantastic. Eastleigh is blessed with multiple good Indian restaurants, however the Moghul has always been my personal favourite. Sabu and his staff are always very welcoming, and service is always excellent.

We ordered 3 different curries, they all tasted like sugar and not much else. Very disappointed! if you ever had a curry before, you would know this wasn't curry. I had to put them in a pan and add some proper spices. We won't be ordering again.

After a lovely two days in Bournemouth, we were heading back to the midlands on a 4.5 hour journey, but needed to eat so we could survive the loooong journey home. I read the reviews and we popped in for our dinner. So happy we did. It was just what we needed to give us the kick start. The food was delicious, fresh, tasty, great portions and very reasonable prices. My hubby and eldest had the buffet for £19:99 and me and my youngest had paneer tikka, chicken Peshawari. The chef was so kind he made us some special tea with spices to help us with our long journey. Staff were professional, helpful and attentive. I would highly recommend this lovely place. Thank you to the staff at Great Mogul you really helped make our journey home so much better.

A decent price menu with many options to choose from. For my mail meal I went for a chicken phall, which was ok, but not as hot/spicy as I expected it to be. My total bill came to £26, which included a starter, main, rice, nan bread, coffee and a non alcoholic drink. As for the atmosphere, I was the first customer of the night, I think, so it is a bit too early to comment on this.

Been a customer of this resturant for years and this was the worst experiance i have ever. had food was not hot tasteless no love and care put into the food at all. ordered for collection 17.40 - pick up time 18.10 - Was not ready till 18.25 only 2 people in restaurant and and Only 1 collection whilst waiting. 1* for service as you gave me no apology for the extra wait

Chicken tikka starter consisted of 4 pieces. Not a lot of keema in the keema naan. But chicken tikka biryani was great, tarka dahl was very tasty too.

Absolutely amazing service and food I cannot express enough. Was shocked to see something this good in Eastleigh. Really quiet atmosphere aswell which made my experience more pleasant.. I do highly recommend! Although 1 thing I do wish for them to improve on is don't charge me £3.80 for a £1 bottle of plastic sparkling water (was expecting a full proper glass)

Honestly can’t say anything bad about this place! Food is amazing great tasting curry rice and naan bread, I personally really like the look of the place inside too would happily eat in even though I got takeaway today. Staff are always extremely friendly and polite from waiters to management. Any negative reviews of this place must just be having a bad day and looking for someone to take it out on because I’ve been here many times over the years and it’s always 10/10 across the board!

I really enjoy the food from this restaurant and I wasn’t disappointed with this delivery.

Proper Indian restaurant. They do all the usual, but look for the special in house pick's in the menu. Well worth trying. Fantastic food and service, all the food was great, and the order accuracy was Spot on (we were in a group of 9) they help you split the bill, however you want to do it as a group, and take cash and card. We had a lovely chat, the atmosphere was great and the background music was not too loud. Fantastic, thanks!

Been going to the Moghul since it opened in the 90s. Food has been consistently high quality and well priced. Thoroughly recommended.

I thought been a curry house tge food would be spicy but it didn't have much taste of spices or heat was very disappointed

When in Eastleigh and needing a good curry I always head here. Reliable friendly service and your traditional curry dinner. You can spice up or down all your usual favourites. Then happily wash down with the usual curry house beer. I had the mixed meat chef special which included a boiled egg which you do not find so often now. Wanting a traditional reliable curry to eat with friends you will be more than happy.

Food is OK but not much spice/flavour,, naan breads are small and thin and not much flavour.. Nice restaurant and staff.

Love this place! The food was amazing, really fresh and full of spices. The prices are reasonable and the staff are really friendly. I also asked for paneer to be added to my curry (not on the menu) and they did it without trouble. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Always amazing. I've never had a bad or even a mediocre curry from the Mogal And they certainly don't hold back when it comes to the spice

bahjis inedible rock hard could not cut with knife both currys were eaten but were very bland no spices no heat at all . a bit disappointed really.

Love this place. Been several times and always been the best.

When we looked to order it said delivery time 35-50. As soon as we had ordered it dramatically jumped to over an hour and 10 minutes earliest! It eventually arrived 2 hours later after calling the restaurant at an hour and a half of waiting, to be informed it was just leaving the restaurant…35 minutes later it arrived!! Two main dishes ordered…my madras was luke warm at best, the chicken was overcooked and tough and stringy. My partners dish was actually temperature hot thankfully. The onion bhajis luke warm, the naan bread luke warm at best. So overall after waiting over 2 hours for our food, not only was it not great quality it wasn’t hot, as if it had obviously been sitting around for quite a while. Will definitely be avoiding in future.

Rogon Josh had way too much onion, disappointing.

The naan was so burnt it was completely black both sides 😣 literally inedible. The korma was really watery too. We’ve used this restaurant a few times and it’s never been this awful 😞

It would have been nicer if the mutter paneer had actually had any paneer in it rather than a curry soup with just peas!

Love GM food. I don’t eat a lot of Indian food, largely because my wife is not not spicy food. Celebrated 70th birthday with GM food.

Food was pretty average. I think they should cut the number of dishes down on the menu (there was loads to choose from) and focus on a smaller number which may improve the quality. Staff were friendly. Been to worse to be fair!

Unfortunately the brought me a lemonade though I asked for coke and the server walked away before I could say anything. Spent about 10 minutes trying to catch the eye of the host whilst he seemed to be doing everything but checking on the customers. In the end I went up to the bar to get it changed over. (deduct one star) Food came quickly and was decent quality. Once we had eaten the plates were cleared quickly and they brought a desert menu straight away. We then spent over 30 minutes waiting for the host to come ask us if we wanted anything from the menu. (deduct 2 stars) Eventually we got up and went to the bar to pay. Overall a good meal was spoiled slightly by the lack of service on a relatively quiet evening.

A fantastic meal from the Great Moghul, 2 large bhajis per portion, the duck tikka was incredible and the currys were so flavourful!

If you like traditional curry, then you should try Great Moghul, a range of meals, from lightly spice, to very hot and spicy, great customer service and friendly staff, 👍😉 enjoy.

Very impressed with both meal and service. Our waiter was very caring and knew all about enduring we had a great meal.

Very good Indian restaurant. Had a bit of a wobble a few months back, but now as good as ever. Service was quick and food arrived promptly. Very tasty, and just the right level of spice (for s Dhansak). Prices have risen but not to silly levels. Definitely recommend it.

Dropped by on the way home from work, and managed to spend £35 on a beer, two mains, two starters and a couple of other bits. My other half doesn't do "fierce spicy" so chose a mild dish for her and a Jalfrezy for myself. Sadly everything was devoid of flavour, even the Bombay Aloo. The Jalfrezy was less spicy than the Pepperami I had earlier this afternoon. Something has gone drastically wrong in the kitchen here, as previously always been a happy customer. Sorry, but not returning any time soon.

The food is always amazing. As long as you no its going to be about an hour to an hour and. Half to arrive then its fine. We have learnt to order it for earlier than we plan because it rarely arrives on time. Can't fault the food

Fantastic selection of indias finest foods, went for something new and wasn't wrong with my choice, will be returning soon for more, plus a nice pint of Cobra too.

Early delivery Loved the chicken pakora and sag aloo Lamb chops not quite as tender as hoped .

The food was really nice except for the onion bajji. They were massive, not crispy and just soaked in oil. We wouldn't order those again

Only couple tables occupied, but waiting near 1h for food. Shashlik very dry, looks like made from frozen meat.

Food was only luke warm and just not very tasty. The cauliflower bhaji was way too salty, my "medium" lamb korai was barely mild and blatantly mis-advertised mutton and my wife's chicken tikka kashmiri was short on everything except sauce. The onion bhajis were decent as was the mushroom rice, although the rice portion was pretty sparse. Also no poppadoms on an order over £30 seems mean. Overall a disappointing meal, especially considering the higher price compared to our usual, reliably awesome choice.

Food was pretty nice, kashmir rice was a bit of a mad one though, chunks of banana and lychee all over the place. Basically a fruit salad in my curry, wife wasn’t happy but she needs the vitamins

I wish that I had had my phone with me to of taken photos I was staying in Eastleigh for Christmas. I am no fan of Eastleigh. . Had nipped out to go for a jog but instead nipped in for a bite to eat. At my regular gurkka in Hampshire I've ordered the starter Tikka Paneer with mushroom rice and loved it. Their starter Tikka Paneer full of flavours and was generous in portion with more than 4 pieces at similar price to the Great Moghul. Including was the mushroom rice. Sliced mushrooms, sliced spring onions and pease. Full of flavours. The flavour was none too heavy But here at the Great Moghul, I ordered the same. Tikka Panner starter with mushroom rice. Though eaten as was hungry and not eaten all day, the paneer had no taste. Looked red. The colour of tikka seasoning but lacked tikka taste. The paneer had been fried with some pieces over crispy. Also, only four pieces of paneer. The rice, was a very small portion with chunks of fresh mushrooms.I also ordered two poppadoms. I was expecting to receive them warm but they were cold. Whatever happened to the day when we would order a meal or a couple of starters that we would receive a complimentary warm poppadom?

What this place does best is your standard well know Indian dishes really well. The specials are great too. Staff are friendly.

Won’t order again from this establishment through food had to be heated up as arrived cold - 15 minutes later than stated! NOT value for money.

Excellent meal and brilliant service as we wanted to be at theatre the service was swift and gave us ample time to enjoy theeal and the show thank Moghul we will be back.

We moved here recently and we first tried Saffron restaurant. I like Chicken tikka and l was surprised it didn't come on a sizzling skillet. It was really dry too. The waiter in Saffron said they can't do sizzlers, as it's a low ceiling. I loved, loved loved our meal at The Great Mogul and will bring our friends there, when they visit us in our new home. Friendly polite staff too ❤

We hadn't been here for a while, but will return again soon as found the service to be excellent, and thoroughly enjoyed our curry.
