Arrived about 1045am on a Friday. Quite busy but parking and table spaces ok. Liked the waitress service. Very kind welcoming staff. One helped with a wheelchair as flagstone path to terrace uneven. Had a superb breakfast plate in the sun. Generous food, very speedily provided. Hope to come again!

Visited 05/05/2025, arrived just after 9.30am not realising opened officially at ten, however super helpful gent on reception checked with chef and allow our group to be seated as kitchen was ready ahead of schedule - fantastic We took both tables 1 and 2 inside and then were seen to promptly, efficiently and the drinks and food came quickly. The dishes were tasty and would definitely coming to the Great Barn House for the atmosphere, food and drink especially before taking in the walks in the surrounding area Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We come here often, mainly for a cup of coffee after a walk around Rivington. It's an incredibly popular place no matter what day or time you go. Popular with walkers, bikers and dog owners alike. The food has always been good there and now does table service both inside and out. It is a little on the pricey side but no doubt that is due to its very desirable and popular location. The restaurant/cafe also has a takeaway section for desserts, tea/coffee and cold drinks and also has a nice little gift shop if you are there and needed a last minute present or card for someone. It's doing very well currently so hope it doesn't change!

A lovely lunch in the Sunshine at my favourite place today. As always, absolutely fantastic food, atmosphere and service. I rarely go anywhere else because there is no where that is as consistently good as the barn. Matt and all of the staff are lovely. Highly recommend the avocado toast and the carrot and pineapple cake.👌🏽 A great place to stop for lunch and enjoy Rivi. 😊

An okay place to grab a quick coffee and cake after a long walk. Service was very friendly and fast. My friends ordered a panini, sausage sandwich and my partner and I had the pineapple carrot cake and banana bread with mascapone. The peanut butter shake I had was pretty tasty but both desserts needed cooking some more, as they were dense and not cooked enough in the middle . Overall an okay to stop

Really nice venue, friendly staff and reasonable prices for the remote location. Not much on the menu for allergies or smaller plate options (my son is allergic to dairy) but they were still accommodating and we all enjoyed our food. Cakes looked delicious and lots to choose from but we were too full to try.

Parking was an issue today due to glorious weather. Once parked we found a bench in the sun then came the crunch - - the menu. £8.75 for a baked potato!! Didn't look any further. No toilets in the cafe! Is this legal? . Had to walk to the public toilets at the visitor centre. By 2.00 pm they were very smelly due to amount of visitors I suspect. So take your own picnic and portaloo!

Came for breakfast after a dog walk and they welcome dogs which is helpful, the menu has changed so I was initially gutted as really wanted my usual French toast but happy to say the harissa on toast was delicious. The prices are not expensive but not cheap I would say fair for the quality of food and drink presented. You do have to pay upfront which could be awkward if you were on a date or a group of you. Toilet wise you have to go outside but they are OK to use All in all I would recommend but if your not a fan of dogs then perhaps this isn't for you.

This is a friendly place. I've been visiting here for over 20 years. If you love walking, then this is the place for you. Once you've built up an appetite, you can enjoy a good tuck in at the Barn for a fair price, but you'll need to order hot food before 3 pm during the Autumn and Winter month. After 3 pm, only cakes and cold foods are available because the barn closes by 4 pm. time, I seem to remember it's 5pm closing time. There's a good amount of free parking ,but it can get really busy during the summer months and school holidays. keep in mind that the outdoor toilet facilities are not great, and if you are bad on your feet like my mother who has to use a walking aid, you might struggle! The walkway to the toilets are made up of cobbles and are very uneven. You can bring your dog along inside the Barn; dog walkers are made very welcome. Despite the toilet facilities I do still recommend a visit to this very friendly place.

We visited today as a family of 8 for lunch and drinks. I had the steak baguette with egg, which I can only describe as very overpriced and disappointing. The sandwich was around £15 and the size of a half sub. I was expecting steak for £15 but to my disappointment, it was little thin strips of tasteless meat. No chips or side salad just a few crisps. It was also barley warm and came out of the kitchen within 2 minutes of the order being placed. I wasn’t asked by a member of staff, if the food was okay, at any point. We visit here often, mainly for a hot drink after a chilly walk but I’ll be avoiding the food in future!

Am a semi regular at this Cafe. Called in last week and ordered an eggs benedict. at £9.00 Eggs were good but the muffin was hard one and not soft. The problem was that they were very sparing with the Hollandaise sauce. It was just a mere drizzle and not a dollop. Its That sauce that makes the dish and they completely disregarded that for what purpose or reason I don't know. Perhaps the chef or cook doesn't know just what is required. I spoke to the waitress but to no avail as nothing was done about it.

I like it here. In the warmer months I come regularly before or after a walk up rivvy. The breakfast is very nice. They change the main courses (from 12 onwards) every few months it seems. Although there isn't loads of choice, there is enough to satisfy most people. The staff are generally pleasant, although they are not very attentive if you want to order something else after your initial order. Try to wave and make eye contact all you like....it could take 15 mins before you actually get spotted. But generally the food and drinks are good. The place is nice with the beams and feels cosy. Although it can get quite noisy with dogs. It's also a magnet for retired bikers, who like to park their motorbikes at the front and can make navigating the end turn of the carpark a bit of a 3 point affair. Or just play motorbike dominoes and watch them fall with a little bumper clip.😉. When the weather is good, it can be difficult to park.

Ordered the pork sandwich and was served the steak sandwich. Did not choose this as had egg on it. Not one for complaining so accepted the steak. Luckily no sign of egg on it only chewable steak and full of something bright yellow which I presume was the mustard, dripping out all over the plate and staining my hands. The price over £11. We visit on a weekly basis and this new menu is so expensive , so sorry will not be visiting again for food.

Had to update my review for this place, it's a lovely old building, the service is first rate... But the food is so hit and miss. I've had 4 breakfasts there in two months. One was great, one was good, one was just about ok and another was awful. Even the coffee is inconsistent, with the worst just being like warm milk with no hint of coffee flavour. The food is best when it's quiet, that is obvious. It seems when they're busy the cooks rush and what you get sugfers for that. I wouldn't mind, but if you're charging £12 for a modest sized full English, it should be really exceptional every time. I've given up with this place now, I hope they read this and can improve.

Worst experience ever. Worst experience ever. Well I decided to give my missus a break from cooking so decided to risk the chippy I spent just short of £25 for fish peas and gravy. Also fish peas chips and gravy. Thought it was expensive as all other take always are cheaper. I understand rising costs so reluctantly accept this. I got home and no chips. I live 8 mins away so went back and Andrew said sorry. Gave me some chips that were hard and cold. This is the third time that an item was missing. The staff are having to deal with phone / internet and walk ins. I won’t be back 3 times disappointed is well enough. Good luck trying to keep this business going. Your gonna need it
