Always busy in here, but good value for money

Pizza and carrot cake at the lower barn and it was really good. Beautiful day, fast service and reasonably priced! Will definitely be back.

Went for a quick lunch with my dad. It was really busy but we got served straight away by a very friendly lady. Excellent toastie, plenty of salady bits and coleslaw. Will definitely visit again.

Very accommodating staff and some great treats, very difficult not to be greedy. Inside is very interesting, but it’s nice to sit outside when weather permits in their comfortable outdoor dining area.

Nestled in one of my favourite area's of Rivington is this lovely place . Beautiful scenery and building . Excellent service .

Visited today for lunch after walking to the Pike and around the Japanese Gardens. Sat outside (bit chilly bit without coats we were happy). Lovely menu options and reasonable prices. The staff were as friendly as always - you're always met with a smile and pleasant conversation. We ordered a pot of tea, a flat white, a chicken salad sandwich with a mug of soup and sweetcorn fritters with salmon. It was delicious and the portions are a good size. Lovely place and we will continue to return.

The proprietors have made some good changes inside and out to increase the available seating space. I didn't eat this time but the cakes looked great though a bit pricey for me. The only disappointment was that the toilet facilities are still awful and not part of the Great House Barn. Probably not in the control of the cafe, I noticed that one of the staff members had to use the public toilets outside too, she still had her apron on 😕. I would have expected by now that the cafe would have their own. Maybe more to do with Bolton council and heritage, not sure.

Vegetarian hot takeaway options now seem to be limited to egg barms. Very disappointing.

Great food , service was quick and friendly and barn was busy so top marks , was a nice day so alot of walkers and people with their dogs, parking was a bit of a pain but a good couple off hours out .

Absolutely fantastic service at the Barn in Rivington. The breakfast was superb, a step up from anything I can recall elsewhere and the coffees were decent for a machine made drink, especially nice to see oat drinks on the menu which were hand made not machine. Food portions were great for the price. We recommend coming as early as possible because a line does form and if your not first in you will wait.

Went to the Great House Barn earlier this week and we were very impressed by how cheerful and friendly the staff were, especially as it was half term and they were extremely busy! The cakes and coffee were great too - good choice range. Thank you!

Such a treat to have table service, all the waitresses and waiters so attentive and polite. The food was very very good.

Lovely place, called for a drink and a snack, unfortunately we witnessed people allowing their dogs to eat from the tables, not very hygienic, we decided it better not to eat in a place that allows such dirty behaviour, unhygienic behaviour.

Lovely little place, they do a great vegetarian breakfast, staff are friendly and helpful. Nice cosy place after a walk.

This is a lovely place to stop and eat/drink whilst visiting Rivington Pike or walking in the area. Service is excellent and the staff are extremely pleasant.

We have been here many times. The food is always delicious. It gets very busy, so they often run out of menu items . Would highly recommend

Situated in the beautiful Rvington countryside this fantastic restaurant is a wonderful place to stop and enjoy a delicious meal or just have a coffee and scone with friends. Whatever meal you choose the food is delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were excellent. This venue operates a hybrid ordering system. A waiter takes your order at your table and you pay upon ordering. Your food is then brought to your table when it is ready. I think this is a really good system as it saves a trip to the bar. Dog walkers will be pleased to know that their furry friend can join them for a refreshment after a walk around Rivington.

Nice place. It would be better without all the dogs where people are eating. Plenty of seating outside and a patio heater.

What a gold mine. The service is amazing. Staff a friendly and polite. They were so efficient despite the large amount of customers. However, it is a little expensive abd you do gave to go next door to the toilet. Also the visitor centre was closed so we had no real idea where we were. An interesting experience

2nd time here and very satisfied. Had a spiced tea, tastes really good, friendly atmosphere and staff. Utensils are very clean, and beautiful design of cups. Which is quite important for me as some places wash dishes in filthy water leaving residue and some have peoples lipstick leftovers. Will rate 5! Had a very nice evening with my missus! Will come again!

Good food and drink but very busy

Cheapness the vegetarian breakfast. Cheap white bread. Avocado, jam and beans does not work. We used to love coming here for breakfast. So disapo8nted today.

Always busy when we go and the staff are brilliant at organising a table for you and serving promptly . Wholesome food freshly made. Dog friendly and great for walkers which isn’t surprising as it is in an ideal walking area

Busy but decent fayre and good service

The venue has changed since I last visited. More of a restaurant rather than a cafe was my impression. Service was quick considering it was busy, staff were helpful and smiled. I enjoyed the beef hot pot. The breakfast burger looked nice. Toilets were the public loos nearby (as it always had been for the venue), unless I was mistaken?

Used to have good vegan options but took them away for some reason.

Very expensive and over staffed

I recently visited Great House Barn in Rivington and had a wonderful experience. The barn is a beautiful 16th-century structure with a slate roof and oak cruck construction. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy some homemade cakes, light lunches, and coffee. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is excellent. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable experience in the countryside.

Nice place but had to wait a while to get seated. The man who served us was excellent. They ran out of brownies so he found an alternative for my son Expensive but ok to grab a snack

It's always not had a good reputation but £9.50 for a hot toastie of ham was ridiculous. Came with a tasteless side of something described as dipping gravy and frizzy lettuce. Staff preparing food no hair nets and all the staffs shoes need a damn good clean. AVOID.

Had a lovely lunch with friends. Service spot-on - attentive but not intrusive and drinks/food served in good time. Menu good and food delicious. Lots of different cakes & scones also available. Dogs are welcome too. Would highly recommend 👌

I LOVE it here. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the setting is beautiful and there is some really tasty food and lovely drinks like the sticky toffee hot chocolate and gingerbread latte 😍 I've called in to get a takeaway drink on a walk a couple of times and had breakfast here at the weekend which was delicious!

As usual after numerous visits everything is absolutely brilliant....food delicious..service superb....atmosphere inside for the first time buzzing......Will be back again most definitely....thanks to all of you cheers

Good for motorcyclists. Wanting a quick break. Quite expensive but, nor bad.

We dropped in after someone mentioned it on YouTube, its a nice place to stop and have a bite to eat, also just across from Go Ape, only problem was finding a place to park.

Perfect day with friends, we are really well catered for and the menu was tweaked to meet our needs. Thank you

Stop for a drink and something to eat with the dogs, they like there sausage, new menu, good food, price ££, table service there is a covered area when raining, eat inside or out, just be aware outside service to tables but not to the benches at the side, if you sit her then you need to got in and get food and drinks, can get busy on a weekends, car park fills up quickly, 4 disabled parking bays, wheelchair access.

Lovely place. Really friendly staff which is lovely and also dog friendly which is great for us. The food is nice too, however my only criticism is the price is steep for what you get and they don't have toilets, you need to use the public ones next door which arnt pleasant. Good for parking though.

Compliments to the chefs on the amazing artichoke soup 🤤. Also had a tasty chicken sandwich. Servers were great, professional and friendly. Congratulations on the refurbishment and new menu. I'll be back again soon. ❤️

The location is the best thing about it. Quite expensive for what it is- quality of food and drink isn't worth the money at all however you are paying for the location really.

Had peri peri chicken on flatbread it was delicious 😋

Food here is good. Not cheap, but always quality. Brilliantly situated and dog friendly. My "flat white" coffee was more like a latte, but the French Toast was great. Young staff are courteous and engaged. Walkers and bikers are the main customers, and everyone is fairly relaxed.

It looked really nice here, we never purchased anything but it was really popular inside.

We lonely had drinks but the food and cakes looked lovely, the place is lovely and dog friendly, the staff were all very friendly. The mint tea was very nice

Visiting from Arizona, family took us here for lunch TWICE & I enjoyed each time! May I have your carrot/swede recipe?? It was a new taste sensation for me, it was delicious!.

Not the best Visited on a hot Sunday, the young staff were lovely but poorly trained. Very limited menu. Ordered vegan bacon sandwich, wow, not just cooked but burnt. Complained, second not much better.very expensive. In-laws had a similar experience the week before.

Lovely lunch, soup and a toasted sandwich which came with basic salad, coleslaw and crisps for £12. Soup was delicious and tasted homemade. Drinks and food a little pricey (especially the cake) but fast ordering and food arrived super quick. Definitely will be going back.

Terrific, friendly café with good food and excellent flapjacks. This place has been in the Salmon family for decades and it shows. Very consistent and well run.

Great place to start or finish a hike round Rivington area. Food is excellent homemade soup and a sandwich and a latte just what the dr ordered. Staff are friendly and service was very fast even though it was very busy. I liked it here that much I went back the day after.

Pleasantly surprised Staff were superb food excellent and good portions competitive prices and well worth a visit will definitely call again

Lovely place in the middle of nowhere

Always been a popular place for walkers and biker's or just a visit for a snack and drinks. As been revamped since last visit now table service only inside and out. Prices have increased out striping value for money. While its lost some of its original charm and appeal no doubt people will still visit.

A 2nd visit, albeit the last one some 7 years ago...excellent service in a lovely countryside environment...
