The food was good and different! This review focuses on one gripe only. Should dogs be allowed into a dining room? One small dog was present at a table of five adults. They tried to keep it under control! It barked at any other dog that came near their table. The owner eventually sat it on the chair next to themselves so they could eat and hold the leash. The dog urinated on the chair, the owner pushed it under the table. It continued to urinate for an awfully long time for such a small dog. The party finished abruptly and brazenly left. Their precious pet barked at every dog it could find before exiting. We retired to the coffee shop for desert.

We visit this cafe regularly and are never disappointed. The specials menu changes daily and they serve the most amazing pasta's. Anything served with a salad is a good choice. The salad may have 6 different elements such as potato salad, couscous and the best curried chickpeas ever! Don't miss desserts, yesterdays choice included sticky gingerbread with caramelised pears and a honeycomb ice cream, just delicious. They always offer the meringue with fruit which is beautiful and a very generous size. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is relaxed, service is efficient and nothing too much trouble. We will be back next week.

Second visit and really like this relaxed country cafe. Unfortunately I forgot to ask for no butter on my open prawn sandwich. I don't understand why butter is needed when there is mayonnaise or marie rose dressing on sandwiches but apparently some people prefer butter as well. Lots of lovely crisp salad. My daughter had the tomato and mozzarella bruschetta which she said was delicious. Prices are reasonable too and Cedar Farm has some lovely shops.

We called in for lunch on Saturday 29/1 and despite being busy they found us a table quickly. The food was obviously freshly prepared and there was plenty of it . We did have a problem with one of our dishes and when we pointed it out the team were apologetic and replaced the meal straight away. Despite this we’d definitely go again and would recommend the cafe to anyone else.

Lovely little cafe with friendly staff, we only had cakes and drinks but they were all really nice. A nice small size hot chocolate perfect for the children and when we ordered they advised there was no cream for the hot chocolate which was not a problem but then a very pleasant server came and he explained they had found some and brought my daughter her own little tub of it which I thought was very kind.

They couldn't have been anymore accommodating, my husband enquired about a table on short notice, he misunderstood that afternoon tea was available. So when I requested it the chef came to speak me to explaining they hadn't had all the ingredients available so hadn't been offering it but was happy to put something together for me...it was incredible and you would never have known anything was missing. Perfection. It wasn't just for us this level of service was offered to others with them catering specifically for a youngster with some toast rather than a small meal. Would definitely recommend, hidden gem. Lovely outdoor courtyard.

As this wasn’t a planned visit we will go back and explore some of the other areas but cafe was ideal and provided a box for lovely meringue that couldn’t finish, staff friendly and gave a great insight into this upgraded Pig Farm and what it has to offer. We will definitely revisit for the cafe alone though. Have just looked at some reviews and find it hard to understand why people moan about coffee prices surely you must take into account the setting and available facilities, If you want to pay £1 go to a greasy spoon, yet I guess the same folk are happy to spend over the odds on a Costa/bucks and wander the streets sipping from a paper cup?Thank you Cedar Farm.

There is a clear one way system in place here which unfortunately was not very well enforced. Plenty of choice for coffee which I didn't have but others in the group appreciated. The hot chocolate I ordered had yummy marshmallows on top but the drink itself tasted of nothing, certainly not an indulgent chocolate taste I hope for. There was the option of mill alternatives at an additional cost which one group member ordered oat milk with her coffee, and considering the extra price you could tell that it wasn't barista grade oat milk as once in the coffee it clearly separated and therefore wasn't too pleasant. The staff however were friendly and the cafe itself is very cool and relaxing.

When my wife and I visited this cafe the staff were quite friendly but the food was very disappointing. My wife ordered the lunch plate and was surprised when it all arrived together on the same plate, she was expecting the soup to be served then the cheese etc later when she had finished the soup. I ordered the Cheese and Pate and specifically checked that it would come with bread, unfortunately, I didn't check to see how much bread! When it arrived the bread consisted of 2 small bread wedges, one white and one wholemeal, not nearly sufficient to last throughout the meal (remember, this was supposed to be a lunch). I eventually asked for some more bread and was surprised to find that the waiter added this to my bill as an extra. The cheeses were fine but the Pate, which I think was salmon I couldn't really enjoy because it had so much pepper and it left an unpleasant after taste. The salad was at least 50% cucumber so I had to resort to combing through to find the lettuce.Just to add insult to injury I'm sure the wholemeal bread was taken from the freezer and. microwaved. We won't be going back!

This is my first time visiting the Cafe at Cedar Farm and I was very impressed. The menu had a large range of options from sandwiches, soup, ploughman’s, hot food and desserts. The cedar farm lunch option (basically ploughman’s with soup) was lovely, and the cafe also serves alcohol which is a nice addition. There’s also a nice selection of decent desserts. We chose to sit inside but there’s lots of outside seating too. As we sat inside the staff also had good understanding of the new covid measures and we were made to feel comfortable.

The ‘bruschetta’ resembled and tasted like supermarket garlic bread with a couple of thin slices of tomato on the top. The meringue was bone dry with thin runny ‘coulis’. A complete waste of money, we decided to try this cafe again after at least 5 years of avoiding it in the past (for The same reasons) hoping it had improved. It hasn’t. Such a shame for all the local artisan professionals there that the cafe brings the place down. Avoid!

When we approached the door the young man asked “is it for lunch?” We said we had not decided as we had not looked at the menu yet. We sat outside where there were only two (out of MANY) occupied. We’d just sat down and a lady came over to ask “are you having food?” I said “I’m not sure I’ve just got here we haven’t looked yet” and she said “Ok well you can’t just have drinks here”. We were so shocked we had not even had chance to look at the menu!! We felt really uncomfortable and left. Profits must be high in order to turn away customers for drinks at a time when they can’t even fill three outside tables. Would not recommend, at all. Disappointing visit for two new mummies. We weren’t allowed our prams next to our table and the cafe was empty, instead we were told we had to take them out of the prams and leave the prams at the front of the cafe. I was able to remove the car seat for my four month old and put it on a bench seat next to me. Once we were settled at our table we were told we had to wait another 20 mins to order food as they only started taking orders at 12. The food was lovely, however I was then asked to move my babies car seat from the bench to free the table next to us (even though they had told me to put the car seat there) , I was asked to do this whilst I was breastfeeding my baby...! After being asked I then was looked at several times by the cafe owner as I hadn’t yet moved the seat, how did she expect me to move it whilst feeding my baby? Worst of all after finally moving the car seat she then put a couple on the table next to us, even though the cafe was empty! The couple had to awkwardly squeeze into the table, avoiding high chairs and changing bags on the floor! This poor couple then had to sit in very close proximity to me and my friend and two very young and unsettled babies! I felt that the cafe owner was trying to prove a point by sitting them there, it was all very bizarre and very awkward! I felt more sorry for this couple who had to eat their meal on a very small and cramped table, whilst squashed next to us! We soon left and will not be returning! It’s hard enough being a new Mum and attempting to go out with your baby, but I didn’t expect to feel so unwelcome in a family orientated place!

Two parties of two had vouchers to use so we decided to book for afternoon tea. Couldn't find any menu online and the email address shown on the website bounced back. When we called to book we were told that they had a couple of big parties in and could only accommodate a certain number of afternoon teas. However the lady did kindly confirm availability the day before by ringing us as arranged. We had seen something showing afternoon tea at £8-75, and we were offered either vegetarian or meat but only in multiples of two....so the one member of our party that fancied the veggie sandwiches lost out as ' it would be too tricky ' to make them for one. We were then advised that no drinks are included! The only coffees on offer are filter or cafetieres (for one) no cappuccinos here! The service and the food was very good though with ham and mustard, and smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, warm scones and a nice selection of cakes. On paying we found that the meat afternoon tea was £10 per person which is a bit expensive when you have to add drinks on top. Overall good service and food but have never been charged extra for meat sandwiches and had afternoon tea without a drink!

It's not an average menu but there's something on there for everyone. They only serve lunches between 12 - 14:30 as the café can become very busy so would recommend the coffee roastery if you're just there for coffee, which is right across the car park. As we left, people were shown upstairs - so it obviously was open.I must say that the food was delicious. The other staff were slightly off and not really interested in serving us. We asked for a dessert to take out and it was suggested to collect after the glass course had finished. When we returned the staff were very off with us and made us feel very unwelcome. The grumpy lady came to our table and told us the cafe was closed. I explained that I had paid for a dessert already and asked if I could eat it there. She told us that no desserts were being served and we could have some cake. It was all quite awkward and totally unnecessary. We left quickly after we had finished our drinks. Such as shame as we are local and would recommend this place to family and friends. I would say if you can get past the grumpy lady and are not fussed about good customer service, then you will like the food.

Visited the cafe when passing through the area. The sandwiches that my boyfriend and i ordered were nice but the wedges tasted limp. We felt crammed in and the staff weren't attentive or friendly- maybe it was just a bad day?

Came here for a quick lunch. Food was really tasty and the salad was huge and so fresh. Only criticism is the staff weren't particularly friendly, apart from one young man who was waiting on. The other staff didn't seem interested or want to smile at customers which is a shame. Would come back though.

I feel like 'Kids not welcome' should be put on the window as they seem to not want them There. I'll start by saying I loved this place as a kid and I would go at least once a month with various family members and couldn't wait to take my little brother. The farm bit is great and he loved the animals but the cafe was appalling!! For starters they don't have a kids menu?! (They did say they can do half portions) but the adult menu isn't suited for children's picky natures and when we asked for toast with some garlic buyter on, it was like we just sprouted three heads. They couldn't do it...god knows why not?! And your not allowed to bring your own food...well if we can't bring food in for the baby (even if the adults by stuff) then we won't be returning because he can't eat any of the stuff on the menu!! They don't even have a microwave for baby food?! I understand not wanting a microwave but at least have one for baby food...its ridiculous!!

The staff would not encourage me to go back, pity because the foods good and its local to me. When tables are full they make little effort to tell you that in x minutes they could fit you in, or even sit you upstairs if that's possible

Nice strong coffee (Italian Blend) certainly hit the spot after a few miles on the bike. Fire was on & quite busy for 10:30 in the morning.

we were looking forward to tea and cake after a very busy morning and we tried the meringues which were delicious but our pot of tea was cold, nobody came to ask if everything was ok with our food and with the suicidal music in the background I really wanted to leave and get a cup of hot tea somewhere so we didn't stay more than 3 songs. When paying (approx £13 for 2 teas and 2 meringues) I mentioned the pot of tea was still full as we couldn't drink it and the waitress couldn't care less, she made a big fuss about saying we should have told someone but how does one 'tell someone' when the staff are so inattentive they don't return to the table? I felt it was an expensive 'tea-break' only to have to go and buy tea somewhere else. At the very least I'd have expected the tea to be deducted from the bill and I said so, no offer of a refund or replacement was made and all I wanted was a hot cup of tea, I'm afraid I won't be back. I'd also like to add that it was a good job we only wanted a piece of cake - the menu was salad, quiche, salad, soup, salad or fish and salad. I genuinely couldn't find anything I wanted to eat.

So we visited here with the family. Fancied four drinks , outside, as it was blistering hot. Waiter says can only sit out in the courtyard if placing a food order. Are you kidding me??! There was ONE table occupied outside, and was fairly quiet inside. The whole place seemed dead. Why would we want to go sit inside in the other cafe?Very poor won't be coming back after this. What a joke.

I had a delicious risotto from the specials board. Extensive choice of soups, sandwiches, quiches etc and lots of lovely desserts. Charming cottage setting, with a terrace for sunny weather. Friendly, efficient personnel. Definitely a place where I would feel comfortable eating alone.

This has to be one of the best coffee cafes around. Just wish the staff were a bit friendlier. Worth a visit though. Make your own mind up.

We called for Lunch at the beginning of October 2016. What a fantastic little bistro style Cafe. In London,Rome or Los Angeles, diners would be booking months in advance to get here. Beautiful cottage decor with fresh good quality cafe style menu. Very good value and charming hard work staff. I have seen over reviewers comments, now calm down guys this is genuine Lancashire sourced basic food, not pretentious and always up for suggestions. I would 'suggest' some reviewers take a course of reality, coupled with a reduced prescription of self importance !! This is a great little find, good food is always received by nice people, all are welcome here.

We have been here before, and always enjoyed the food. Today it was a real let down, the staff were lovely, but I ordered goats cheese pasta salad, there was hardly any cheese, and hardly any spinach. Another table ordered feta salad, it came without the feta cheese!Maybe it was just a bad day

This visit was my third and Cedar Farm itself is beautiful: the shops, animals, play area. The cafe interior is so lovely and the staff are very friendly. The menu included a wide variety of dishes, drinks and cakes. Excellent place for children, but the cafe itself is fairly small. The sandwiches were tasty, but a little disappointing... Plain, boring white bread that can be found anywhere, it would have been nicer if it were a crusty bread or something a little more exciting. The pasta salad dish is stunning, as is the soup although they had run out of the soup of the day! But overall a lovely place.

Best thing about this cafe is its handy location if you don't mind the poky seating inside and the somewhat tatty nature with scraped walls and stained seating. Its handy with a fairly limited menu, unmemorable service and the food is pretty simple and somewhat overpriced with ungenerous portions.I wish I could warm to this cafe but I can't I'm afraid at the prices they charge for what little you get. Give it a miss until it improves I'm afraid.
