Had a takeaway from here on Saturday and my gosh how fresh and scrumptious EVERYTHING was. Flavours were amazing. It was so good we were stuck in a food coma for 5 hours so be aware! 😊

Booked a table for two for the Sunday buffet which we were very excited for as I absolutely love Nepalese food. Atmosphere was a bit lifeless. We were disappointed to find out that the Buffet was made to order and you have to pick from a VERY limited menu with just a few generic main options available (from memory Chicken Madras, Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, plain naan, 1 type of rice etc) . Nothing to distinguish this menu from a bog standard takeaway. Disappointed we left without eating, admittedly the food did look good but we had just been hoping for a Sunday menu to have a bit of variety and for a buffet to actually be a buffet where we could mix and match some different dishes (and some Momos!!). Then they charged us £5 for 4 poppadum's

Ordered a delivery through Uber eats. Very poor quality. Lamb Rogan Josh is full of oil and the lamb wasn’t fresh at all . Tarka Dal tasteless. The only positive is the lamb momo. The rest is waste of money.

Visited 29th Dec for the evening buffet, Table of ten for our sons birthday, We were the only table in the place, Food was good as it normally is, Asked and paid the bill, The older gent who we normally chat to and knows us appeared a little offish when I handed him the bill folder with the tip in, Just left me feeling like he was maybe expecting more and thinking will we be returning, Shame really 😏

Nice and cosy place. The service was excellent as well as the taste of the food and quantité. Had lovely moment. Big thumb up for the Cook and staffs.

Absolutely regretting not having been here sooner the food is delicious. I cannot recommend it enough! Each dish we had was so flavoursome and the lamb dishes in particular were wonderful. And such lovely staff! The momo and the coconut rice were elite! Cannot wait to come back!

Had a set meal takeaway for 4 which included absolutely everything you could think of: poppadums, raita, chutneys/pickles, spring rolls, kebabs, onion bhajis to start, meat and vegetable dishes with rice and naans to follow, all for £50 less £10 website offer – yes £40! The food was really good and plentiful. They have a good chef who makes food without loads of ghee or oil but with great flavours instead. I’ve also eaten in the restaurant many times and enjoyed every meal I had.

What a fine takeaway feast. I had the set menu for 4. Cost only £40 with a £10 off website offer. I also ordered a hariyo miss mass as an extra to add more vegetables. We were all really impressed with the quality, variety, quantity and flavours of the dishes. They came with some really nice lightly spiced rice, non-greasy poppadums, naans and chutneys. We had enough food left over to eat and enjoy the next day. The Great Gurkhas Sunday buffet (unlimited ordering from a special menu) is also amazing value for money. From eating that I know that one of the dishes, hariyo chicken, would have been even better when freshly served on a sizzling platter in the restaurant. So many people in Weybridge are missing out. They should eat there.

Nice food, good price, little slow on service

"Biryani" was very poor. Just dry rice, no vegetable sauce so wasn't even a curry. Just rice. Called to tell them they forgot the sauce, they told me there was no mistake they don't make sauce. Huh?! They put a tiny pot of watery yogurt on the side which I guess is supposed to make up for the lack of curry in my curry lol? Even if I ate dairy, which I don't, this would be poor. I have had biryanis from many curry houses before up & down the country, never has it come plain, nothing on it. It always comes with a lovely curry sauce full of potatoes & veggies. Not here. Feel ripped off and hungry as was too dry & boring to eat plain. See the pic, it's not dinner, it's a side dish at best. Ended up putting it in the fridge, will have to make my own curry tomorrow to eat my expensive "rice" with - refuse to call it a biryani because it isn't one. Crap experience. Won't go back.

On the off chance we walked in The Great Gurkhas and it was the best decision of the day. The staff is friendly and efficient, the food is out of this world and everything is cooked fresh to order. It's impossible to chose which of the dishes was the best. Nepalese green chicken, Nepalese lamb masala or the monk fish in onion based sauce with coconut rice or garlic mushrooms. The naan bread was light and fluffy, the guliyo naan stuffed with mixture of ground almonds, cashews, coconut and sultanas had lovely sweet flavour which finished our dinner nicely. We will be definitely back. Thank you to all the staff for fabulous meal.

Pretty disappointing food. 'Spicy' really isn't...

Ordered takeaway from here. Since eating it I have had the worst muscle pain I've experienced in a while. Don't recommend.

Lamb shank microwaved. Awful food. I could never go again or recommend it. The staff are nice but the food quality is not where it should be. Nepalese, Indian (Bangladeshi) in Weybridge aren't up to scratch at all.

We went to the Great Gurkha last night for first time, the resturant is bigger than it looks from outside, very pleasant inside, what I liked was the fact that the tables are not to squashed together, also good atmosphere, nice people no rowdy noisy customers. The service was crisp and professional, and the food was absolutely superb! To my delight when the bill came it was very reasonable for what we had. Will definitely be coming back!

My partner and I go here frequently for the Sunday ‘buffet’. We get a mix of two starters and choice of 4 mains plus sides. Loads of high quality food for a great price! Our favourites are choyela chicken for starter, piro lamb for main and hariyo mismass for side. Also the naan bread is divine! Unfortunately they haven’t had the piro lamb as one of the 4 main options the past handful of times we’ve been. Hopefully tomorrow is the day it returns to the selection!

Haven’t been here for 5 months due to a bad experience but today’s Chicken Dhansak with sag paneer and coconut rice, was the best we’ve ever had, we will be back very soon…..Trevor & Chris

Great Gurkhas has been a family favourite since 2015! We always anticipate this delicious meal with much excitement and the food never disappoints! Venue is serene & comfortable. Service is very good and waiters are extremely polite & friendly. Their calm, efficient manner is so relaxing. On occasion we have ordered for home delivery and take away always arrives hot & fresh. Definitely will return! We only wish we could eat here more often!!

I was a bit disappointed. Nothing was bad, it was all just rather ordinary. My experience of Nepalese restaurants locally has normally been better.

I always enjoy their food, but this time taste/flavour changed… chow mein used to have fragrant spices and great taste, but this time it was too spicy and hot… fried rice was completely different taste, just like other usual Indian restaurant. Their food had a special taste, that’s why I kept ordering. But if this new taste stays, I’ll stop. The new taste is not what I like at all.

We have been going at least once a week for 2 or more years. A few weeks back we had a poor meal and today tried it again. We asked for our usual Nepalese kebab with green chilli, no green chilli! We asked for a cheesy garlic and chilli nan, again no chilli and the cheese was sprinkled over the bread but not melted in! Their standards have really dropped, Trevor and Chris

Arrived quickly as local but food not hot and in plastic(prefer tin foil as safer) Stuffed vegetable naan had no vegetables in it.

We went here for my birthday lunch after visiting Concorde at Brooklands. Well all I can say is it's a good job we don't live closer!! We had the thali meal, 1 chicken, 1 veggie and it was an absolute taste sensation. It was by far the tastiest and most flavoursome selection of dishes we have ever had anywhere worldwide. The guy serving us was polite and very efficient on the refilling of our water. We couldn't have chosen anywhere better for my birthday and will definitely return when we are in the area. Thank you, thank you, thank you xx

Always great food, best Indian around

If you're in Weybridge on a Sunday you simply have to eat here and select the buffet. Great food and great value 👏👏👏

We came to Weybridge from Birmingham and decided to have a curry after a day at the races. This restaurant is by far the best one we have had the pleasure to eat at. The manager was super friendly, the atmosphere was lovely and the chicken Balti, vegetable fried rice was the best I have ever tasted and I live in the Balti capital of England. I would like to recommend that anyone who stays in Weybridge should come and eat here I guarantee that you will enjoy it

Arrived late but told us it had arrived when it hadn't. Had to call up restaurant. Very stressful. Overall wait time for food was excessive and expectation was not met.

They smoke while cooking your food, they have rats and mice, they are a vile group of people and have seen them being rude to their neighbours for no reason. I witnessed them threaten to punch a young girl. They’re rude abusive and the food is not cooked in sanitary conditions. Avoid if you care about your health.

Being Weybridge based ,we have had regular take outs over the years from Great Gurkha and food has generally been good. Ordered, a Tarka Daal, that was like having bland soup. It was disgusting! We also ordered,Spinach/ SaagPaneer which was equally bad. The chicken korma was terrible. The only exception that was good was the chicken Nepalese noodles. Called the restaurant to complain about how bad the food was and was told that will speak with the Chef. Had to put the food in the bin.What a waste of money . We won't be ordering food from this place again.

Mr Guru who had served in Brunei welcomed us in classic Nepalese style and joined us later in conversation taking due care in meeting our specific request for spicy menu. I took up his offer to partake Gurkha beer which was nice accompaniment. We had vegetarian momo, size of which could have been bigger and paneer parcels, well presented and delicious. The main comprised tadka daal, aloo and aubergine all freshly cooked and perfect with garlic naan. The prices are reasonable too and it was very nice dinner experience

As always THE BEST curry in the area and I've tried them all

This is by far our favourite restaurant in Weybridge as a family. The service is outstanding, the staff are so welcoming and friendly, and always make jokes with the children, we always have fun. They are happy to make less spicy food to suit the children if required. On Sunday they have an amazing all you can eat buffet at a great price, and during the week they have the full range of delicious indian cuisine, including salads all at very reasonable prices too. They have a simple yet awesome selection of drinks too, including draft beer, and even sell Whispering Angel and champagne if you fancy treating yourself.

Pleasant Nepalese restaurant but struggled to serve us swiftly on a Friday night (early) which I appreciate might be one of their busiest nights. Food wasn’t as good as it used to be there a few years ago but was perfectly nice and nothing to complain about.

Tasty food. Delivery was on time. The stir fry seasonal veg was the most disappointing (bit limp and not huge), but the mushroom rice and gurka chicken curry was very tasty.

Had a takeaway. Free delivery for orders over £25. Food generally had good flavours, although the stir-fry veggies was a bit disappointing. The others dishes in the pic were good though (aloo kauli, Gurkha chicken, mushroom rice and the onion phokara). Would happily try more dishes from the place. All in, for 5 dishes for 2 people, it cost £29.

Absolutely fantastic. The food is great, really nice selection of traditional Nepalese dishes. The Gurkha lager was very smooth and the waiter gave us a glass to take away as souvenir. Would highly recommend and definitely will return.

We had a birthday party for 35 people at our house - instead of cooking, Great Gurkhas provided us food at a set price per head. It was absolutely delicious, everyone loved it. They provided loads of food, reasonably priced and was delivered hot ready to serve! Really impressed :)

We ordered a takeaway from The Great Gurkhas. It use to be our takeaway of choice pre-Covid and was always delightful. Unfortunately the one we order last night was not. The coconut naan bread was so stodgy, the content (a slab of congealed, desiccated coconut) fell out of it. You could tell it was not a freshly cooked, homemade naan. The basmati rice use to be sprinkled with peanuts, spring onions etc. Not any more. And the main courses were just meat in a sauce with hard diced peppers and onions. None of the delicacy that the main courses use to have. Such a disappointment. The only thing we can say is that we will not order from The Great Gurkhas again. We ate some of it because we had nothing to eat - but the majority went into the bin. Plus the mint yoghurt (for the poppadoms) didn't really taste of mint!

My Wife and I , Were in town for the Auto Italia event at Brooklands, We visited on the Friday night the food and service was SO GOOD , We went again on Saturday evening and again it was Top quality food and very friendly service, Over the two evening's we had four different curries all were top class, the keema naan was the best we have ever had in our many visits to curry house's all over the UK and aboard, thanks to all well done , keep up the good work, If we travel over from Wales to Weybridge again , we will return to your restaurant, thanks.

It was an absolutely wonderful evening. Found previous reviews and decided to try the restaurant. Food was superb, Gurkha Chicken, Lamb Kebab, and the pick of the menu, Lamb Shank. Staff are engaging. If you are in Weybridge and looking for somewhere to eat, you can't go wrong at The Great Gurkhas!

Great food - poor restaurant experience. We visited for the Sunday set menu - which is excellent value and good to experience a range of their cuisine. However, after visiting for several years the restaurant needs an overhaul. Whilst it was good to see tablecloths have returned - the restaurant is stuffy and airless and we particularly found the very visible mould growing all around the main window edges very off putting and unpleasant. Think we will be sticking to their takeaways….

Wow I have only now decided to try this restaurant and I wish I had sooner. I have lived in Weybridge for 4 years and can’t believe I didn’t visit sooner. The Sunday “buffet” was a select menu that was cooked fresh to order and it was amazing. The staff were great and I highly recommend!!

The food is delicious and I can't recommend it enough.

Excellent traditional type dishes - very tasty. Friendly staff, busy small place so recommend to book ahead of time. Different to your usual Indian but also have the traditional Indian dishes too.

I love their food and the Ghurkha version of the Keema Naan is delicious.

It was absolutely wonderful food and superb service. Whilst their is both traditional Indian and Nepalese food, I always go for the Nepalese and it's a nice change and this restaurant has a great kitchen as it's always quality.

Great food as always - but restaurant is looking tired and they do not even put on table cloths / candles on the table for evening service any more. Toilets were also disgusting and hand dryers blow slow cold air - again they used to have flannels for drying. Need to up their game!

I thought that I would try Nepalese cuisine as a change from my regular Indian or Chinese, and I was very impressed. The food was great. I expect that will be ordering again soon.

A real gem of Weybridge. The Nepalese food here is excellent, I'd recommend the lamb shank, it's delicious and the portion was very generous. The staff were attentive and friendly too.
