The Great Gurkhas in Elmbridge

Arrived quickly as local but food not hot and in plastic(prefer tin foil as safer) Stuffed vegetable naan had no vegetables in it.

Good was great and the staff were brilliant.. great meal and enjoyed the time there.

Wonderful food, service and atmosphere. And they do Thali,very tasty and vegetarian options.

First time here. Really nice little restaurant. Friendly and attentive staff. Reasonable priced, well portioned food...which was lovely. Would recommend and will visit again when next back in weybridge

Got a teeny tiny portion of chilli chicken for 13£ and it doesn't taste anything like it!!

We went here for my birthday lunch after visiting Concorde at Brooklands. Well all I can say is it's a good job we don't live closer!! We had the thali meal, 1 chicken, 1 veggie and it was an absolute taste sensation. It was by far the tastiest and most flavoursome selection of dishes we have ever had anywhere worldwide. The guy serving us was polite and very efficient on the refilling of our water. We couldn't have chosen anywhere better for my birthday and will definitely return when we are in the area. If you're in Weybridge on a Sunday you simply have to eat here and select the buffet. Great food and great value 👏👏👏

We came to Weybridge from Birmingham and decided to have a curry after a day at the races. This restaurant is by far the best one we have had the pleasure to eat at. The manager was super friendly, the atmosphere was lovely and the chicken Balti, vegetable fried rice was the best I have ever tasted and I live in the Balti capital of England. I would like to recommend that anyone who stays in Weybridge should come and eat here I guarantee that you will enjoy it

They smoke while cooking your food, they have rats and mice, they are a vile group of people and have seen them being rude to their neighbours for no reason. I witnessed them threaten to punch a young girl. They’re rude abusive and the food is not cooked in sanitary conditions. Avoid if you care about your health.

Being Weybridge based ,we have had regular take outs over the years from Great Gurkha and food has generally been good. Ordered, a Tarka Daal, that was like having bland soup. It was disgusting! We also ordered,Spinach/ SaagPaneer which was equally bad. The chicken korma was terrible. The only exception that was good was the chicken Nepalese noodles. Called the restaurant to complain about how bad the food was and was told that will speak with the Chef. Had to put the food in the bin.What a waste of money . We won't be ordering food from this place again.

Mr Guru who had served in Brunei welcomed us in classic Nepalese style and joined us later in conversation taking due care in meeting our specific request for spicy menu. I took up his offer to partake Gurkha beer which was nice accompaniment. We had vegetarian momo, size of which could have been bigger and paneer parcels, well presented and delicious. The main comprised tadka daal, aloo and aubergine all freshly cooked and perfect with garlic naan. The prices are reasonable too and it was very nice dinner experience

This is by far our favourite restaurant in Weybridge as a family. The service is outstanding, the staff are so welcoming and friendly, and always make jokes with the children, we always have fun. They are happy to make less spicy food to suit the children if required. On Sunday they have an amazing all you can eat buffet at a great price, and during the week they have the full range of delicious indian cuisine, including salads all at very reasonable prices too. They have a simple yet awesome selection of drinks too, including draft beer, and even sell Whispering Angel and champagne if you fancy treating yourself.

Pleasant Nepalese restaurant but struggled to serve us swiftly on a Friday night (early) which I appreciate might be one of their busiest nights. Food wasn’t as good as it used to be there a few years ago but was perfectly nice and nothing to complain about.

Had a takeaway. Free delivery for orders over £25. Food generally had good flavours, although the stir-fry veggies was a bit disappointing. The others dishes in the pic were good though (aloo kauli, Gurkha chicken, mushroom rice and the onion phokara). Would happily try more dishes from the place. All in, for 5 dishes for 2 people, it cost £29.

Absolutely fantastic. The food is great, really nice selection of traditional Nepalese dishes. The Gurkha lager was very smooth and the waiter gave us a glass to take away as souvenir. Would highly recommend and definitely will return.

We had a birthday party for 35 people at our house - instead of cooking, Great Gurkhas provided us food at a set price per head. It was absolutely delicious, everyone loved it. They provided loads of food, reasonably priced and was delivered hot ready to serve! Really impressed :)

We ordered a takeaway from The Great Gurkhas. It use to be our takeaway of choice pre-Covid and was always delightful. Unfortunately the one we order last night was not. The coconut naan bread was so stodgy, the content (a slab of congealed, desiccated coconut) fell out of it. You could tell it was not a freshly cooked, homemade naan. The basmati rice use to be sprinkled with peanuts, spring onions etc. Not any more. And the main courses were just meat in a sauce with hard diced peppers and onions. None of the delicacy that the main courses use to have. Such a disappointment. The only thing we can say is that we will not order from The Great Gurkhas again. We ate some of it because we had nothing to eat - but the majority went into the bin. Plus the mint yoghurt (for the poppadoms) didn't really taste of mint!

My Wife and I , Were in town for the Auto Italia event at Brooklands, We visited on the Friday night the food and service was SO GOOD , We went again on Saturday evening and again it was Top quality food and very friendly service, Over the two evening's we had four different curries all were top class, the keema naan was the best we have ever had in our many visits to curry house's all over the UK and aboard, thanks to all well done , keep up the good work, If we travel over from Wales to Weybridge again , we will return to your restaurant, thanks.

It was an absolutely wonderful evening. Found previous reviews and decided to try the restaurant. Food was superb, Gurkha Chicken, Lamb Kebab, and the pick of the menu, Lamb Shank. Staff are engaging. If you are in Weybridge and looking for somewhere to eat, you can't go wrong at The Great Gurkhas!

Great food - poor restaurant experience. We visited for the Sunday set menu - which is excellent value and good to experience a range of their cuisine. However, after visiting for several years the restaurant needs an overhaul. Whilst it was good to see tablecloths have returned - the restaurant is stuffy and airless and we particularly found the very visible mould growing all around the main window edges very off putting and unpleasant. Think we will be sticking to their takeaways….

Wow I have only now decided to try this restaurant and I wish I had sooner. I have lived in Weybridge for 4 years and can’t believe I didn’t visit sooner. The Sunday “buffet” was a select menu that was cooked fresh to order and it was amazing. The staff were great and I highly recommend!!

Excellent traditional type dishes - very tasty. Friendly staff, busy small place so recommend to book ahead of time. Different to your usual Indian but also have the traditional Indian dishes too.

It was absolutely wonderful food and superb service. Whilst their is both traditional Indian and Nepalese food, I always go for the Nepalese and it's a nice change and this restaurant has a great kitchen as it's always quality.

Great food as always - but restaurant is looking tired and they do not even put on table cloths / candles on the table for evening service any more. Toilets were also disgusting and hand dryers blow slow cold air - again they used to have flannels for drying. Need to up their game!

A real gem of Weybridge. The Nepalese food here is excellent, I'd recommend the lamb shank, it's delicious and the portion was very generous. The staff were attentive and friendly too.

The food was alright but the service was terrible. We had visited the restaurant for lunch and there was a male waiter in particular who wasn't very hospitable and was passing sarcastic and rude comments everytime we placed an order or even when it was as simple as getting a box to pack away the left over food.

Our family group visited the Great Gurkhas for the first time in a couple of years this evening. We were effectively giving the restaurant ‘another chance’ after a so-so experience a couple of years ago. Sadly we won’t be repeating that after tonight’s meal. The poppadoms to start weren’t all entirely fresh (clearly prepared in advance) and the portions of pickles were half full. When the main courses came the dishes of chicken makhani and lamb pho contained what were literally shreds of chicken and a few chunks of lamb. They were mainly all sauce. The naans were cut into portions and put onto a little platter to disguise the fact that they were tiny - not the normal size of naan we would expect to get. Even the mixed vegetable portion was very salty and small costing the best part of £5. The two waitresses appeared to be struggling to cope with the number of diners and so bits of our order had to be chased and didn’t make an appearance until some time after the mains were delivered. No one came near us after that to check that all was satisfactory with our meals and while the prices were okay, I had the impression the staff were providing the bare minimum in terms of both the food and the service. If you are looking for good Indian food there are far better restaurants in the area with infinitely better service.

I never go on TripAdvisor but have just read 2 reviews for this amazing place that are crazy. One states they couldn't take the buffet away and it's not a buffet...it's an a'la carte buffet, you order what you want and it's made fresh and warm. It also states they couldn't take it away...no buffet ever has done this, ludicrous statements. Also, £100 for 5 people with beers and poppadoms is a great deal for all you can eat... The food and staff here are amazing, kind and friendly. Every dish matters to these guys and they deliver excellence and quality every single time. I live locally and dine here regularly, highly recommend it!

Had an amazing lunch today with my sisters. Hariyo Chicken was cooked to perfection and was really flavourful too. And also loved momos and qutar jhinga. Highly recommend!!! Thankyou The Great Gurkha Team. Can’t wait to be back soon 🙂

Excellent. Ordered a selection of take away vegetarian curry and naan. So far we were really impressed! One of the best in this area and will definitely order again.

Chargrill Jingha is only four prawns in there shells with no sauce and chargrilled. They are just alright but I recommend you do not spend £14.50 to even try. Don’t buy.

Visited this restaurant for the first time. It wasn’t particularly busy but for some reason we were completely ignored. We waited 30 minutes until someone asked us what we would like to drink, at this point we gave up and went to another restaurant.

I made a special visit to this restaurant in the afternoon to order a take away for it to be delivered in the evening. They forgot the nan bread which I ordered. The aubergine was not cooked properly and bits of it were raw. The prawn curry was bland and over tomatoed. Worst napalese food I have ever eaten. Momo's were doughy and too thick.

We booked at table for 12 only days before to celebrate a 60th birthday. As it was Sunday the buffet set menu was in operation. We asked them to bring everything on the menu which they did. The food was superb and everyone was happy and well fed. There were others eating in the restaurant but we felt as though it was our own private party. Great venue for a special celebration at a very reasonable price. Couldn’t fault anything. Thank you to the staff on duty.

Ordered a take away from here a while ago. The service and delivery time is very good. All dishes and fresh and taste great. Do ask them to make it spicy if you like spice though as they won’t make it spicy for all. Overall very good.👍🏼

The food is very good and well worth a visit though the non-stop ringing of the phone for home delivery orders and the constant in and out of the delivery drivers is annoying and does nothing for the ambiance, surely a back entrance and phone could be used.

We went for dinner, meeting friends yesterday evening. It had been a long time since we were there, due to covid and family issues. So we were hoping for a good evening, and we are so glad we chose The Great Gurkas. The food was super and our servers could not have been more helpful Hasta and Ambika came often to check on us and make sure that we knew about the dishes before we ordered them. My husband loves steamed dumplings and the "Momo" starters were delicious. We also had 2 different prawn starters, both excellent. We stayed a very long time ( "closing the place")- as we had not seen our friends in ages. Hasta and Ambika were very amiable, and were friendly - not making us feel like we were staying too long. That and the fact that they were so attentive made me give the five stars, alone. We have been here before. . and are so glad that it is still here, after so many restaurants have struggled. Thank You for the lovely evening.

We met with friends yesterday evening. Since we had not seen them in ages we wanted to spend a long evening-which we did ! We ordered Momo starters (advised that they take extra cooking time). We loved them, along with 2 prawn starters, both excellent. Our meals were lovely, also. Our servers were Hasta and Ambika. They came back to check if all was well, and even though we probably kept them a long time (last to leave) they were ready to take good care of us. Almost forgot: One of us had the rice pudding for dessert. He loved it ! Very pretty presentation, also. Thank you to our servers. We've been before, and never disappointed.

Not easy to find a restaurant for grandparents and us older children but we did. Fantastically tasty food, much lighter than I expected (I was thinking thick Indian style dishes). Gorgeous light flavours, everybody more than happy. Topped off with attentive service - we will definitely be going back.

A quiet, little restaurant in Weybridge that produces reliably fantastic food every time. The food is also very reasonably prices, offering much better quality for your money than many others around.

Ordered lunch from this place via uber, instead of sorry all i got was piece of advice to learn how ordering system works. However my order was still saying “on its way” past the estimated time of arrival. My workplace doesn’t have any network which is why i left a note on uber orders “notify me when driver is outside”, instead of notifying me order is outside they tried calling me directly which I obviously can not receive. When it was 15 mins past the est time of arrival i had to leave the workplace to get network and call them. They told me off for not picking up the phone (phone which does not have network) and also directly told me I’m not getting my order along with refund and “GO LEARN HOW THIS SYSTEM WORKS”Wasted all my break hours trying to fight with them.Terrible customer service. However the staff was throughly enjoying the conversation with me and i could clearly hear him mockingly laughing behind the phone. Refer to the picture and note the times.

Excellent welcome, food and service

The food tastes amazing and lots of GF options. Very reassuring that when I order over the phone for my food to be gluten free they write it on the boxes that arrive. Very reasonable prices.

Have sampled many currys in weybridge, addlestone, Walton and chersey and this is a clear winner!

Delicious food and amazing staff

Fantastic little restaraunt, have started using recently and the food taste fantastic. Highly recommend, and the young guy delivering was bang on time.

Quite possible the worst takeaway I've had. Lamb in dry sauce was tough and so was the nane. Panner butter sauce - dull as dishwater. Delivery was fast, but will NEVER order from here or visit this dive ever!!!!! This is a zero star review.

Just tried Great Gurkhas for the first time and was thoroughly impressed with the food and service. Placed a delivery through the online order system and food arrived quite ridiculously punctually to my chosen time, less than ten seconds off the minute in fact... nice one!Food itself was very nice. Best momo dumplings I've had in a long time and other food was high quality with very good portion sizes whilst not being greasy. Prices were absolutey fine for takeaway in this area and with the free 5 mile delivery and portion sizes, fall squarely into what I would regard as good value. Easy 5 star review, would order again and plan to soon.

We’ve had two deliveries recently. I would describe the food as OK, but nothing to enthuse about. However what really irked me was the online ordering facility. Although the restaurant advertises free home delivery, when you click on “order online” you are taken to another page where the menu looks identical. However the prices are higher often by £1 or more per dish. For example, marinated monkfish is shown as £10.50 on the restaurant menu but you are charged £11.95 on line; an onion pakuda priced at £2.95 becomes £3.95. Nowhere is the customer warned about this and most people probably don’t even notice. Your confirmatory e-mail purports to come from The Great Gurkhas but the e-mail address is 6656@letsorder. I e-mailed the restaurant for an explanation but received no reply. If this is not a deliberate scam it comes very close to it.

I came here a little while ago and I highly recommend. The lamb shank was tender and fell off the bone, it was aromatic and fragrant. The staff were polite and courteous. A wide variety of food was available and was thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely be back.

When to collect order and wasn't ready in time. Taking so long and did not have any reply from person who was in charge. I could hear loud shouting in the kitchen.
