The Great Exhibition in Southwark

Perfect work from the pub spot when I want to escape the chaos of local coffee shops. The pub is full of character and nicely done. decent range of drinks including craft beers and great coffee. Always really impressed with the food and the friendly team. One of my favourites in the area.

Visited because we are locals and have had great roasts here. Last night we paid £18 for the most average stew I’ve ever eaten. It was tiny, bland with one leaf of kale, the best bit of it was the mash again very small portion. The kids had a pasta sauce that tasted of garlic and sugar, it was disgusting. Left £200 lighter with a very bitter taste in my mouth.

My wife and I travelled to London from Plymouth to meet up with family. We decided to have dinner at the Great Exhibition Pub in East Dulwich and this proved to be a very good decision. Even though it was quite early on a Thursday evening the pub had a real vibe. It was busy but you could still talk easily. The food was very good and everyone enjoyed the evening. A very special thank you to Bella who was wonderful - friendly, courteous, and fully professional, she made us feel at home. Well done, young lady!

My friends and I met at the Great Exhibition after agreeing on a mutual location. It was the first time we have visited and we were taken back. We were not intending on eating but after witnessing a couples’ reaction to their meal, we all felt a little peckish! This is not an ordinary pub!! The food was incredible! We each ordered 4 different meals and must say the food was so much tastier and better presented than most high end restaurants in London - compliments to the chef! The atmosphere was joyful and they have a great selection of lagers and ales.

The food here was INCREDIBLE! Great mix on the menu, something for everyone! Will definitely be back!

The Great Exhibition Pub in Dulwich is an absolute gem! What a fantastic setting, with a wonderfully cosy atmosphere that really makes you feel right at home. I have to say, the staff really make this place special - in particular, Frankie was such a great help. She had fantastic knowledge of the menu and made us feel really welcome throughout our visit. Speaking of the menu, the food was fantastic! We ordered the fish and chips three times (yes, it was that good), and also tried the veggie Wellington, which was truly delicious. Even though there was a delay with the food, it was definitely worth the wait - the quality was excellent. Overall, we had a great time at the Great Exhibition Pub and would definitely return. The combination of fantastic service and great food make it a must-visit location in Dulwich. Highly recommended!

My wife and I had travelled to stay for a few days with our daughter who lives nearby. We decided to go for late afternoon drinks and were warmly welcomed by Frankie, then Siobhan and lastly Dom the boss, all of whom were very kind and made us feel valued guests. The white wine (Trebbiano) was tasty and good value. The pub's decor, furnishings and lighting added to the cosy atmosphere. We stayed longer than we intended because it was such a lovely experience. If we could have given 11 out of 10 we would have! Thanks to all the staff for being so kind and attentive - it made our day and we left with a warm glow.

I visited this pub for the first time and it is a great local pub offering amazing food. Definitely a must go to pub. The atmosphere was inviting and welcoming. The bar staff are really friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed the Sunday lunch. The Food was fabulous and I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again. A first class pub that everyone should try. Once you have tried you will go back again because the service, environment and food are great. A great time is guaranteed.

What a pub, I visit with family and the food is excellent and service is 10/10 There’s a lot of good pubs in the area but this stands out above them all The senior team are amazing and it’s always a joy to visit. The Great Exhibition is a great pub - service is always fantastic and they have a really good drinks menu. The outdoor are is lovely in the summer and there is normally a free table to sit at. Their bottomless brunch on Saturdays is also amazing!

Came for a Sunday roast. Portions were so big we couldn't finish. The potatoes oddly tasted of truffles obviously due to the fries with truffles. I nice surprise but should be mentioned. The stand out was Dan. He was so accommodating and just a super happy, friendly person. He was the high light of the place despite his solemn faced co-workers. Thanks Dan for making our day. Will be back to hopefully see you again.

I ordered the roast half chicken with a side order of the cauliflower cheese. The meal was delicious! - nice sized portions. The chicken, potatoes and vegetables were very tasty! I enjoyed the Yorkshire pudding, and the gravy was spot on! The added cauliflower cheese side dish complimented the roast, which was highly recommended by my server! Thank you! I did not regret ordering it, but regretted not being able to finish it off, as I was completely full and could not take another bite. A cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and great meal. Reasonably priced roast dinner and was definitely worth booking. Best to book in advance, as the tables get filled quickly. Extra seating available in the beer garden, which many were seated. Great, quick, and efficient service! Excellent cooks! And my compliments to the chefs! Over-all I enjoyed my time, my meal, and the venue. I will defo be back again.

This is a great pub with really good food. The staff are lovely and it's got a great ambience. Definitely somewhere I'd recommend!

My son and I met some friends for lunch today at the great exhibition. I was so pleased to see a menu that was a bit different from everywhere else. We had nachos to start and it was huge! Lovely fresh ingredients and extra sauce for dipping. My son chose a beef burger which was also generous in size although he managed to demolish it with space for pudding, chocolate soufflé with ice cream strawberries and edible flowers! it was delicious. I had the vegan fish which was new to me but I wasn’t disappointed. It’s been a long time since I’ve been for food and everybody has enjoyed everything we had so well done great exhibition and we will be back!! :)

Brilliant food and wine, great value, exceptional service by the lovely Chanel who made the whole lunch just a breath of fresh air. Couldn't fault a single thing, even our dog had the best time and was as well looked after as we were - brilliant :)

Straight after the lifting of lock down the people who served us Chanel and Ayana couldnit have been more helpful not just on serving food and drink but also on their due diligence on keeping to the Covid Rules and cleaning up a spillage we accidentally made.

This pub is fantastic! We turned up with no booking and 6 people (3 of whom were celiacs) and the manager (Sophie) was able to seat us straightaway and was incredibly personable and friendly. The staff were all equally polite and professional and the truffle fries were spectacular - we ordered 9 bowls! We would return in a heartbeat and were really pleased to find out they do takeaway as well. Visit this pub (when we're allowed to again)!

Ok range of beers including Brick Brewery, lovely friendly service, been really nicely refurbished inside and nice outdoor seating too. We will 100% be back after our first visit.

Visité con un amigo para el almuerzo. Me dijeron que el menú principal no estaba disponible hasta las 5. 00 a pesar de que estaba en todas las mesas. Came to the Christmas Brunch which was a great day out. We went for the bottomless option and we drank a lot from it! Food was really good, lots of different options. Staff and entertainment were fab, really made it :) will be back again soon!

We (3 of us) booked a table a week ago for a Sunday roast. So we arrived on time and found our table to be squashed in the corner and most definitely not room enough for 3 people unless one is a child in a baby sit. We sat down and all three of us could not even put our legs under the table because it’s so small. Three plates would not of fitted either. The assistant manager was no help at all. He even told us if we needed more space then we should of booked for more people, that is not really acceptable response. He then started to argue with us as if it was our fault he had given us an unacceptable table for 3. He made absolutely no effort to resolve the issue so we had to leave! I have been going to this pub for years and actually my partner used to work there before this refurb (as apparently that has a part to play in our table( heard it all now)) I work in customer service and this is defiantly not how to talk to customers or resolve issues. Lanes really need to look at management choices. So I recommend you book a table for 12 people next time you go to defiantly ensure you get at least a table for 2.

Lovely traditional pub, which I understand has just opened after being refurbished. Care has been taken to ensure that the pub has kept it's orginal features both inside and out, it really is appealing! We visited three times during our long weekend stay in the area and each time the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The manager said he is new to the area, he was very welcoming and certainly made us feel very much a local and at home. We ate brunch on Saturday, which was absolutely delicious and a traditional roast on Sunday, which was also delicious. Both meals were beautifully presented with quality ingredients, definitely gastro or restaurant quality. I would definitely recommend the avocado and eggs for brunch it was stunning!

Huge portions of really good and hearty Sunday Roast, with wonderful imaginative starters. Great cooking. We could choose from the full menu at 3pm and didn’t have any issues with service.

went there for Sunday lunch recently. My daughter booked a week in advance. Already problematic as she went to the pub only to be told she had to book online. Very strange. She did and we had a table reserved for us only to be told that 3 of the 5 options were off. They had run out of food at 4pm . They were serving this meal until 7 theoretically. We were left with lamb fish and chips and some veg options. My daughter was very disappointed as she doesn't like lamb. We had it and the food was excellent but it in no way made up for the absolutely appalling service we received. The waitress was trying to excuse the inexcusable which should have been the managers job and he was there. He was completely unapologetic and didn't care at all how upset we were and offered no refund or discount just a round of free drinks which we didn't really want after we complained. To add insult to injury just after we had finished, the next table was served beef which we had been denied. They had 'found' a joint in the fridge apparently! The bar staff literally told us they didn't care about our treatment. The boss, who is apparently an actor needs to go back to acting because hes a second rate landlord. I will never go there again.

We're just back from an amazing Sunday Roast at the Great Exhibition. We'd been recommended it by a family friend, who's a bit of a foodie. He told us that they have a new chef that's doing great things in the kitchen with fresh products and that we needed to go try it for ourselves.

As a vegetarian, there a many places that give a limited and dull choice. The Exhibition absolutely astounded me with the options available to me! Spoiled for choice with an amazing range of dishes! With warm friendly staff, relaxed surroundings and gardens, this is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended and Thank you!

Thought I’d try this great little pub again after I heard they’d got a new chef and menu. Much improved, friendly staff and decent gastro pub menuu with some staple dishes but with some individuality added. Plumped for the burger as it was billed as 28 day aged.

I\ve been to The Great Exhibition a few times now and it's become a firm, local favourite. The pub and gardens are gorgeous and cosy. When I visited recently with a friend for her birthday, the staff, especially Chanel, went out of their way to make it a really special event for her. Thank you!

This used to be a regular destination for family Sunday lunch. Something has been done to lower the standard of catering. I think they are buying in reconstituted meat. Will go elsewhere in future.

Friendly staff, good food, good beer. This is a great place to go for a Sunday roast or to make the most of the 2 for 1 burger deal on Mondays. Sometimes they have live music and there is always a warm atmosphere. Haven't yet tried the bottomless brunch, but looking forward to it.

Nice pub, tried the vegan burger and was ok. They a good variety of special nights with games and music.

Me and a friend came for Sunday lunch. Initially a bumpy start. We ordered some drinks while we took a few minutes with the menu, when we got to the bar to order food we were told that there was a 45 minute wait before we could order food. This was obviously very annoying as we had booked in advance and specifically stated in the drop down menu that we needed food.

Vine aquí para un brunch sin fin con un grupo de amigos. El brunch es bueno y la relación calidad-precio. Sin embargo, dos de las comidas de mi amigo estaban frías y llegó a los 2 minutos de ordenando. . . . No estoy seguro de cómo fresco a la orden todo es!

Came here with a group of mates for the bottomless brunch. I had a full English and loads of Bloody Mary's. My food was tasty-no complaints about that, but the staff are bordering rude a lot of the time. Unsmiling and a bit cold- a bit like the food one of my friends got when it was put in front of her. We should have sent it back but we are a spineless bunch so didn't bother. The pub is good though. Nice old furnishings inside and a gin garden out the back.

This is a nice pub but to me will Always be the Crystal Palace Tavern!! The menu is quite limited had The exhibition burger before which is very good. Had Jerk Chicken which was brill you'd think you were in a good Caribbean restaurant and you'd never see that in a pub!! Really do recommend the Jerk Chicken season to perfection. Really do want to try a SundayRoast here they look good but you'd have to book.

The only issue is the noise levels.Otherwise good service wine beer and great burgers.Nice atmosphere.They just need to keep volume levels down to help conversation.

I booked Sunday lunch for 3. Arrived to find our table was the size of a dustbin lid and was situated about a metre from a live Jazz band. Are they having a laugh? How they expected to fit three plates onto this table I don't know, perhaps they thought we could put the plates on our laps. Don't get me wrong I like Jazz but not from a metre away. When we complained we got a shrug of the shoulders and a take it or leave it attitude. Thankfully we left with our ear drums intact. These people are too busy and couldn't give a stuff about their customers enjoyment. Too many tables with too little room.

We came for Sunday lunch to celebrate my partners birthday and had a lovely time for the most part.Our roasts were expensive but gorgeous. Massive portions which most of us couldn't finish so perhaps a tad wasteful. The starters of sausage rolls and nachos were nice but too pricey for what they were I felt. The people that ordered the crumble for dessert were very happy however the sticky toffee pudding had to be sent back as it was burnt and dry.The majority of the staff were great. One man behind the bar needs to work on his customer service though and there was only one lady serving the tables the whole time we were there (6 hours!) so things were missed, such as the bathroom being out of paper on every visit, no lights on, dishes forgotten etc.The jazz band were great and the idea of having board games is lovely but they're all missing pieces so need replacing.We'll visit again but I'll know to order the child size portion and bring my own loo roll!

Came here with my partner for Saturday brunch and had a brilliant time. It's £25 for any breakfast and all you can drink mimosas or bloody marys. My full English was great and my partner enjoyed her pancakes with fruit and bacon. You go up to the bar to get refills, but the staff are very helpful and I never had to queue. There is also unlimited toast, jam, tea and coffee. The atmosphere is great inside, and all in all it was a really fun experience. Would highly recommend.

We had a pleasant meal at The Great Exhibition and the food was tasty. The service was good and we all enjoyed it.

Came here on Saturday for bottomless brunch for a friends birthday. We were a very large group and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. One of the best brunches I've been to and made my mates birthday super special. We all had a fab fab fab day.

The Rxhibition is a force of nature burger. Fabulous, prompt delivery of sterling grub and some great beers. Ordering at the bar for ten is a big ask without pen and paper but really good dinners are a pleasure.

Found this place online and made a reservation. Was asked to secure this with card details which is not unreasonable. On arrival promptly shown to table. Concept of their brunch explained and menu given out.Food ordered shortly thereafter and delivered. Had read a couple of bad/mediocre reviews and thought always try something.. What did we do before the Internet after all. Team running this session were incredible and nothing was too much trouble. Mimosas refilled as often as you wanted tables cleaned and Food was very tasty with poached eggs cooked to perfection. A great combination well presented and hot too. As much tea, coffee and toast as you want too. Overall an extremely pleasant way to launch into your weekend. Would certainly come back and maybe this is the source of a good Sunday roast too.?

Went in for a family birthday having never been before, the pub itself was beautifully decorated and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We ordered 3 roasts and a fish and chips, all our meals came out relatively quickly and they were all delicious (they also offered us more gravy if we wanted it which was great) There was a live band inside which were really good and created a nice relaxed atmosphere. Top notch place to go for a Sunday roast, I highly recommend it!

I have been to this pub to have dinner with some friends and I must say we have all been really really impressed.The atmosphere was great and the team was really welcoming and friendly. We started our meal with few appetizers and all of them were great. For main, my choice went to the Chicken Supreme and this was definitely the winner; the chicken was perfectly cooked and I particularly liked the combination with the sweet corn puree...absolutely delicious. This was by far the best meal I've ever had in a pub, considering also the affordable prices. Overall I highly recommend this place and....well done to the chef!!

I had been to this pub before during different events, but last time I went I found out that the menu had recently been revamped so I decided to stay for dinner and try a couple of dishes from the new menu. I am glad I did as the dinner was just delicious. I started with the chicory salad, which was a super tasty combination of greens, whole nuts, stilton and pears. My favourite dish was beyond doubt the chicken supreme with sweet corn puree and barley, which I highly recommend! The meat was so juicy and the white truffle aftertaste superb; this dish was a great surprise as it’s not something you would typically find in a pub menu. My friend ordered the sea bream, which was perfectly cooked and served with new potatoes, glazed radish and avocado mousse. A delightful combination of flavours!Overall the atmosphere was great and the booze selection really good. I couldn’t resist to a glass of good whiskey after such a dinner. I will be definitely going back!

Joined the family for Sunday Lunch 10th June. Good atmosphere which was made even better when a live jazz group started playing shortly after 2.00pm. Prior to our main meal we ordered drinks and snacks from a very pleasant and polite team of people.The meals arrived shortly after ordering and we were looked after by Georgia who gave great service. As for the food my pork was really nice being full of flavour and lots of it. There was also a great piece of crackling. The vegetables were well cooked, especially the roast potatoes which were nice and crunchy. My Daughter had chicken which once again was well cooked and a substantial serving. All 6 meals served were to a high standard. Well done to the chef.In summing up a lively atmosphere and a very family friendly pub with a good team of people serving. Looking forward to my next visit

Nice roast lunch.A jazz trio played from about 2 pm which was really good but unfortunately we were sitting a bit too close so it was quite noisy if you wanted to talk. If we go again we will sit nearer the back.The pub had a good vibe with mostly a younger clientele which made the atmosphere good.I had the roast beef which was good the others had the chicken or the pork belly. The chicken was good but the pork belly was poor.

We went on Sunday to have roast here. We had no booking and the place was packed. We were told to wait a while and got a brief run down on which tables are at what stage of finalising their meal. This was funny and helpful. We sat down after a while and ordered two roasts. The atmosphere was cool, and buzzing. The staff were extremely busy but coping and not being rude or flustered at all. Not that i saw anyway. Our roasts came and was absolutely fantastic. Not a drop was spared and we left soon after to make way for other people who wanted seats. I can recommend this pub for anything really. Ive been here before on weekday evenings and although not as busy, still a great local.Enjoy.

5 of us came for the brunch as the menu looked good and the reviews were generally positive. The staff were very welcoming and the service was fairly quick. The food was terrible. All 5 meals were cold and at no point were we asked how it was. This is probably a good place to go if you are more interested in the bottomless drink than decent food.

I had the Great Exhibition Burger. A great disappointment and not good value for the price, the chips were cold and the burger lukewarm. The accompanying sauces in small bowls had quite the desiccated layer as if they had languished under a heat lamp for a long while. The coleslaw was also warm and not very inviting for a warm evening.Drinking is fine, but would never invite a date out here to eat. Not with the quality places in East Dulwich so close.No staff ever came to check on the meal although it was not very busy.Spent £18.70 on a pint and a burger that is supposed to be a signature item for the place. What a fool! Not again.

Visited here on a Sunday afternoon with a friend as it's fairly local to where I live. It was a sunny day so the beer gardens are great to relax and enjoy a pint.Only downside were one or two of the bar attendants who weren't exactly friendly! One of them (a guy in a green staff t-shirt) was unfriendly (no please or thanks). He got a drinks order wrong and made no effort to correct the error.

Nice pub, with a nice atmosphere. Good for a drink with friends. The food is okay, with 2 for 1 burgers on a Monday. I would say to check the glasses as they were quite dirty however.

This is one of our favourite pubs in London, especially if we are with friends and want a decent lunch on a weekend. The pub is spacious and never feels crowded, the live music throughout the week is great too, especially the Jazz on a Sunday. The staff are super friendly and polite, and were very apologetic when the previous sitting on our booked table were slow to clear. Pleasingly the bar is well stocked with new world wines and craft ales. Service can be slow but the food comes out very quickly.

A solid local favourite this place. Only chance of disappointment for me is if it's too busy to get in (Sundays! Week evenings often are nice and quiet)Food has always been good at least, sometimes excellent. Beer is the same. A cask or two and a couple of good bottles just in case (Hop Mountain!). Music and ambience is usually right on too, lovely spot.

Had the unlimited brunch for £25 - the Full English breakfast (~£10 by itself) was pretty good, and the mushrooms were delicious. BUT... for some reason they insist on 'hard boiling' the poached eggs, which completely ruins them! I ordered before my friend and when she saw my eggs and asked for hers to be soft-boiled and runny, that seemed to come as a surprise to the waiter (even though I have never come across hard-boiled poached eggs before). SO make sure you order your poached eggs runny/soft (i.e. normal). Whether you think £15 extra for unlimited coffee/tea, toast and mimosas or bloody marys is good value or not depends on how much you can eat or drink in a few hours, I suppose. I would have liked better quality bread and orange juice (in the mimosas) to justify giving this a 4-star rating. It's a nice pub, with a good selection of board games and friendly staff, but I'm not sure if I'd go for the bottomless brunch again.

Good local pub with occasional entertainment and very popular. Arrived around 2pm on Sunday looking for a table for 3 for an impromptu lunch, but although lots of people had finished eating, they lingered on with their children running in circles around the place. The roast dinner was ok but if it was hot and with more veg and wwould have been better. Friendly service and good of them to squeeze us in for 40 minutes between bookings.

Spent a lovely Saturday afternoon with my best mate in the pub. Nice selection of read wines, lively atmosphere with big groups having fun and very tasty lunch - the sea bass was delicious.

My bf and I were there last Sunday. He had the Roast Chicken with all the trimmings, and he enjoyed very much. I had the leek, ham and turkey pie, which was excellent, one of the best pies I have ever had in London. Plus on Sunday you can listen to live jazz from 2pm. Which obviously added to the whole experience.
