I live nearby and have ended up here over a dozen times but this was the last time. Disgusting oily food, all the staff are moody and socially inept, they don't serve alcohol, just so you know and the level of incompetence is unparalleled. Possibly one of the worst hotels in London. Avoid at all costs.

No puedo ver negocios mejorar mucho.

No había salchichas.

We stopped by for lunch on 12 November. Greeted by very nice Maitre D' who told us that the restaurant now had a policy of not serving alcohol - due to a stipulation by a new Middle Eastern investor. We stayed though it would have preferred glass of wine. Menu still had pork dishes but the Maitre D' said that the menu was due for an overhaul at which time the Pork was likely to be left off. Food was pleasant, as was the service. However, given it's a bar and grill, it is likely to go out of business if it doesn't serve alcohol - kind of makes the "Bar" bit redundant - as a number of ladies who lunch pointed out - as they left without ordering on hearing that there was no booze. The investor is of course free to do what he likes but it does seem like business suicide to run a bar/restaurant in the UK, in a trendy area, that won't serve alcohol. Such a shame for the people who work there, who will probably lose their jobs as the business collapses.

We were in the area of Bermondsey street, unfortunately trying to find a place when you haven't reserved proved a nightmare! We ended up at the GB Grill & Bar. The fact it appeared to be the restaurant of the Bermondsey Square Hotel didn't inspire us with confidence however I really enjoyed our full chicken which we shared. The homemade coleslaw was really nice and chunky fries were top quality. The chicken was moist and flavourful and you can clearly see the staff were willing to deliver the extra mile. Only thing they could improve on is the dessert selection, at least have one chocolate option which doesn't have fruits in or some other more appealing options!

We went on a Sunday for the carvery and the place wasn't even half full yet the service was extremely slow. There appeared to be only one waiter and the manager yet they'd both spent more time staring at the computer monitor than attending to the clientele. We waited a long time just to order and receive our drinks. But the waiter, when he did serve us, was very pleasant and friendly.I was immensely disappointed that the Sunday roast only consisted of either chicken or pork. Why no beef or lamb?! There was no excuse except for the usual apology. Anyway, when the chicken and pork did arrive, it was delicious. Except it took ages for them to clear the table and I'd had to wait to ask for the dessert menu. Then unsurprisingly wait a while longer to order.I was tempted not to pay the 12.5% optional service charge but the service itself overall was just slow and not bad.

I ate here once when it was Greg Wallace's place and vowed never to return. However, new owners, new chance. Great welcome and initial service, but typically for London, once you've had your main course, they forget about you. ( their loss, we both wanted desert!). We both (rather unadventurously) the soup to start ( very good, indeed) followed by an Aberdeen Angus Burger. It was nicely presented, but a little dry. This was mentioned to the Manager, who said he would inform the chef. I really want to like this place, but find it missing something. Still, I will give it another try, to see if tonight was a one off.

We wanted to sit somewhere and enjoy cocktails on a lovely warm evening, so we sat outside and ordered cocktails and some food. However, the food came late- they somehow forgot the order, so we weren't pleased. The cocktails were good, a limited choice but enough to cater to a group of us. We then asked for the bill, which came after a while and was the wrong bill so we had to send it back. When it came to paying, we wanted ot pay on card, but the waitress (who had the machine) then claimed she couldn't do it and had to call someone else! We were a bit annoyed as we were in a rush to leave which they knew. So service leaves a lot to be desired.

Previously owned by Greg from MasterChef we would have rated this place 5/5 because it was amazing. However having returned a few weeks ago for a quick mid week dinner, the steak was the poorsest quality with excessive fat and gristle, medium was overdone and tough as leather boots. Garden Veg (considering there is a famers market every sat in the square) was terrible, Carrots not cooked and broccoli was mush. It is usually empty and they try to employ deals, opentable and taste card but we will not be returning, the small chicken outlet is a sign of a failing business trying to diversify. Again like the other restaurant in the square, good for a drink and sitting outside but nothing more.

Not sure of the other reviews, but I had a great time here and wasn't expecting that from a restaurant attached to a hotel. There is an outside seating area which has a little courtyard, you can see a cinema and another bar I think. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, there was a little wait because of a mix up in the kitchen, but it was fine. The starters were pretty varied, I had a rabbit terrine, which was very tasty, followed by a rib eye steak with tarragon sauce, the chips did come out in a funnel very East London style but it all came as one so wasn't that bothered. They also take Tastecard which you need to call up, with a 50% off which is brilliant, the food was amazing so I will be going back with my friends.

I ate here on Monday with a friend. We met quite early for dinner and so decided to go for a choice of 4 small plates to share instead of a main each. We went for the prawns, pork and rabbit terrine, tomato soup and asparagus with quail's egg and they were all delicious, most surprisingly the humble tomato soup which is the best I've tasted. Service was great, attentive but not overly earnest. Another thing to note is the interesting decor. I always try and stay in Hotel when I am in London but I have historically avoided the restaurant as it used to be very "hit or miss".With Gregg's table being replaced by a new concept namely GB Grill I thought I would give it another chance during my last stay. I am delighted I did!New chefs, new menus and more choice meant that I was able to spend the whole day there having business meetings without having to leave the hotel once.Great hot sandwiches at lunchtime (I highly recommend the belly pork and apple or steak & onion) and 2 specials for dinner namely Oxtail Pie and "home-made" Sticky Toffee pudding satisfied my personal eating requirements admirably. Nicely cooked and quick service made this an absolute pleasure. I had breakfast next morning and again it was more than acceptable with perfectly cooked poached eggs.I really like this hotel and I'm so pleased that there is now a restaurant I can confidently use knowing that I will have a pleasurable experience. That there were more people eating there than I have ever seen before indicates to me that others are of a like mind!

The evening went extremely well - the staff had received our pre-orders, laid out name tags, and the venue had a bar we could wait in and order drinks from whilst we waited for the rest of the group. The manager and staff were very friendly, understanding when people were late, and helped settle the bill quickly and efficiently. Pretty poor overall. Staff were friendly and nice but menu is unbelievably limited, not even a simple salad in sight on the brunch menu. We ordered the eggs florentine and the smoked salmon. Something went wrong when this was relayed to the chef because someone came over in 5 minutes to double check our order. When the eggs florentine was served there were bits of salmon in it so we guessed that the chef made eggs royale by mistake and then scraped the smoked salmon off and replaced it with spinach. Not very impressive and makes you wonder what sort of budget they are operating under. To be fair, the manager apologised and removed it from the bill but the damage was done. Probably won't go back. Would suggest Gregg considers another career as he clearly can't run a restaurant and, if that is the only menu he can create, he certainly is not qualified to be a food critic.

The Ambience was amazing, they have added a lovely lounge area where we sat and there was another group having drinks and made the area seem very lively which I loved. The bar man, Nick (I think this was his name) who served us was very accommodating even moving an extra table beside us as we over ordered on the light bites (big portions it turns out). Went here for dinner on Saturday and cannot praise it enough. I had read previous reviews so was a little apprehensive but I needn't have been. We arrived twenty minutes early and shown to our table anyway. The menu has a good selection without overdoing the choices. We went for the calamari and pâté on toast, absolutely lovely. I could have eaten a whole plate of the calamari and I don't even like squid. We both then had the rib eye steak. It was possibly one of the best steaks I have eaten. The sides were cooked beautifully, especially the chips. Unfortunately we were too full for desert but they did look amazing. To top it off, we were then able to use my gourmet card to get 50% off the food bill, however, I would have happily paid full price. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a nice atmosphere. All in all it was a fantastic meal which we are already looking at repeating before Christmas and have recommended to friends and family. Went to Greggs for a Sunday morning breakfast, ordered eggs florentine for a bit of a treat and was looking forward to a lazy leisurely breakfast. The restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated in a nice booth. We helped ourselves to the tea, coffee & juices after ordering our cooked breakfast. Disappointingly the orange juice is of the concentrated variety. Eating my eggs florentine, I noticed a slight fishy taste with some mouthfuls which, being vegetarian I notice easily. I then found a piece of salmon and when I asked if they put salmon in their eggs florentine the waiter replied no. I pointed out the salmon and infomed the waiter I was vegetarian to which he replied 'but you eat eggs so you can't be a vegetarian so salmon should be ok for you'. Rendered me quite speachless. Needless to say we didn't pay for my breakfast and on the way out the waiter shouted 'bye see you again'. Not likely.

We arrived early for a 6pm Sunday evening dinner and sat at the bar to wait untill the kitchen opened for 6pm service. On a visit to the ladies bathroom it seemed it was a changing facility for female staff as there were clothes and make up strewn over all of the sinks. We were seated behind 2 other persons who ordered before us they managed to order the only portions of lemon sole and lamb cutlets which we thought was strange as it was 6.05pm and nothing had been served as yet. We ordered a steak at £14 and a burger at £13. When they arrived the steak was covered in some sort if brown sauce being 7 months pregnant i questioned what it was, the waitress had no idea and went back to the chef twice to find out I found it strange that there was no mention of this sauce on the menu it was cooked well but didn't feel it was worth the money as it had a lot of seasoning and the sauce added nothing to it. The burger was served with mustard which again was not on the menu my husband had to scrape it off the chips were covered in salt which was completely overbearing. We. Didn't entertain dessert as there was nothing that seemed worth the price charged we ended up going to sainsburys opposite to buy our own. Booked a table with another restaurant reviewing company and received a voucher for 50% of food bill! Made meal very reasonable as my friend had 24 pound steak but only paid 12! Food good, service good! Only complaint was from my friend that the female toilets were messy and lacked tissue! A quick hourly check could sort this out! Will definitely return! :-)

Not the best. Very quiet but waited for ages for a full english and coffee. Breakfast was luke warm and my fried eggs were burnt and crispy and my wifes still wobling and slimey and clearly undercooked. My bacon had green marks over it so left most of it. Service was really slow but only a few in the place and 3 staff waiting on so not sure why. We had drinks here the night before and the place was busy with people eating and they all seemed to enjoy so perhaps just a one off for us.

Just finished breakfast and feeling raring to go!Staying at the Bermondsey so breakfast was included and it didn't disappoint. It's a Greg Wallace restaurant and quality is certainly good! There is your normal cold selections of pastries and cold meats and fresh fruit salad, a help yourself to coffee and tea etc.Cooked breakfast hit the spot and the sweet cure bacon and sausages were very good quality.Team on duty were friendly and attentive and if in the area would stay at the hotel and use the restaurant again!Thumbs up!!!Enjoy!!!! :)

We ate early evening and the atmosphere was missing at the beginning. A member of staff had her partner and child waiting for her,he was running around a lot. Later on everything improved greatly and the starter and desert were ideal size for sharing. The food was excellent and the staff very attentive. A very good evening was finished off by Greg Wallace doping in to say hello to all the diners. We will go back.

Dear Gregg,I posted a review at the beginning of April and I have to say there has been a significant change. The menu is now a lot more extensive, the food a step up and the atmosphere buzzing. Hopefully my earlier comments lead to a rethink. Will stay and eat here again when I am next in the area. Thanks and regards

A good sized portion, 2 eggs lots of toast coffee and juice. Staff very attentive and the restaurant was clean and tidy. The restaurant has a glass frontage looking out onto the market square, where Bermondsey Market is bustling on a Friday and there is a Farmer's Market on the Saturday morning, selling fresh bread, eggs, cold meats fruit and veg etc.

Very quiet and plenty of tables needed clearing so bit of a depressing atmosphere. You have to serve yourself with coffee and juice. All a bit scrappy and unloved. The cooked breakfast was unremarkable with average sausage and bacon quality. Service was reasonably friendly but Not exactly fizzing. Wouldn't bother to go back.

We live locally and tend to go to regular favourites. Sunny day, so we decided to try something new with outdoor seating - also easy for our pushchair. The menu was simple and limited, which meant low overhead on decisions (ideal if you looking to avoid stress of making choices). I've got to say that my expectations were not high but once seated, our service was excellent. The waiter was extremely helpful, exhibited courteous and friendly professionalism (we were lucky to get him as the other seemed less capable in this regard). While the menu was limited, the food was nothing less than excellent. Beautiful tasty humus chick pea dip and perfectly cooked calamari, great burger and chips - reasonably priced although the lunch deal set menu would have been tremendous value had we gone for that instead. If you are in the area its worth checking out, we will definitely be going there again.

We visited this restaurant because it was a lousy rainy night and it was close to our hotel.Have to say the night was a success as this place was quite excellent.Service was excellent. Food was fantastic. Wine was brilliant. Girlfriends treat.. even better!Koftas and Calamari starters were great. I love Calamari and would have to say it was cooked perfectly. complete with squid ink mayo.We both the 40 day Angus steak and it was cooked to perfection with lovely sauces. We could not then manage a dessert but finished off with excellent coffees. The restaurant is quite modern... glass fronted, open kitchen and background music... but still felt intimate. We definite plan to return on our next trip to London.Keep up the good work!

I booked Greggs for a birthday lunch treat for a friend and I was saddened to realise that we were the only people in there, the service was appauling but the food fantastic. The waiting staff were scruffily dressed and could'nt care less. After such a bad experience I tweeted them and was rewarded with a token gesture free lunch. The second time around the service was exceptional, however the restaurant was still quiet and the food not so good. I will not visit again but I do commend them for offering to make right a wrong. It appears they are also going down the route of cheap 'offers' which in my opionion is not a good thing for a relatively new place. The Garrison and the Woolpack just a stones throw away were heaving in comparison and we fought to get a seat. My advice would be to go elsewhere. Shame really as the name and brand filled me with hope.

Stayed at the Bermondsey Square Hotel and had breakfast and supper here .Couldn't really fault the service or the quality of the food. A small but interesting menu - all very tasty, but Bermondsey Street has a lot of really interesting independent bars , restaurants and cafes , so there is lots of competition now.Don't think Gregg's can afford to sit back and rely on its celebrity chef association. They will need to keep on top of trends to survive. Nonetheless enjoyed our experience.

Just ate at Gregg's. The food and service were both supurb. I had an amazing plate of BBQ ribs while my girlfriend had fish and chips. Both were delicious and served by friendly staff. The house wine was very drinkable and deserts (yes, we were hungry) both creative and mouthwatering. I would certainly go back.

We had dinner at Gregg's this Easter holidays and it was a really good experience! We order for some starters to share and all of them were amazing! The squid was our favourite!! After we ordered one main course for each one, all delicious! Service was really kind and friendly. Prices were really affordable, although we were in city center! Definitely I would recommend it, and next time in London I'll come back for sure!

Dear Gregg,I have stayed at your hotel twice in the last month (for 3 and 4 nights) and I have to say that, although the rooms are great, the restaurant has been disappointing. In what is an up and coming area in London (Bermondsey Street) why is it that your Restaurant is always empty?A limited menu and OK food is not a great attraction. I am sure with your name and reputation you could do a lot better!!You were eating in your restaurant a couple of weeks ago when I was there and you must see that the places just across the Pelican crossing are bursting at the seams.Change the menu a bit and get the punters in.Until things change I will be staying at Think Serviced Apartments and eating at all the great places on Bermondsey Street.Regards,Martininights, Twemlow Green, Cheshire

I've eaten here a couple of times now and really enjoyed myself here. Some dishes which really stood out were: Starters:the squid with black in garlic mayo, the cured salmon and the country terrine. Main:the burger is one of the best I've eaten at a restaurant - right up there with Goodman'sDessert:have the chocolate bomb - it's spectacular! The main downside with this place is the wine list. It's pretty basic and not up to the quality of the food. However, other people who are less wine-geeky than me probably wouldn't mind.

Being from South Africa and paying in pounds makes you extra critical when it comes to food. My husband and I had lunch here and we really enjoyed the food ! We eat out a lot and I would dare to say that the amount of care taken to prepare food of excellent quality is way above average! We can really recommend this restaurant - even more so if you earn and pay in pounds!!

Tried this for first time when I received info on Easter Sunday carvery deal. The staff/service was excellentFood really tasty. Daughter (6) usually picks at meat but ate most of it for first time ever! Not a carvery as you expect. You order the meat and bowls of veg are brought to the table, but actually a nice way of doing it.At the end they gave proper eater eggs to the kids.Only reason food gets 4 stars: There wasn't much meat on my plate- in fact my daughter said I didn't hav much! Also thought kids could have been given a bit more ice cream. However those are just small points.I think the older reviews have put people off, hence a very quiet restaurant, but it is well worth a visit.

Visited on a Saturday night as staying in the excellent hotel alongside. Starters were ok but main a big disappointment. Sirloin steak cross-grained and very chewy. Waitress recommended the Skirt instead but this was just as bad and inedible. Expensive restaurant for style of food. Gregg would not be happy if he was served this quality of food and surprised he has put his name to this. Can't comment on breakfast as we went elsewhere the next morning.

I visited this Restuarant on Saturday march 16 and I can say it was a fabulous dinner. We were greeted with a warm and welcoming smile and promptly seated by a beautiful young lady. She was very warm and knowledgeable and given great recommendations on both the food and the drinks. Everything was just flawless and none of my special request weren't too much to ask for she did it with a smile. Very professional and friendly service and I wil definitely be returning soon. After dinner we also decided to have a few cocktails at the bar very friendly bartender and knowledge of drinks also. The bar tender was very friendly and even though it was busy he still find the time to chat with us.

On arrival, my boyfriend and I were seated promptly at a table and ordered a cocktail each. Our cocktails came and we had a few sips, then my boyfriend noticed that they had given him the wrong cocktail. A waitress then came over, snatched the cocktail from him, poured it away and then gave him the correct cocktail. Firstly, this was a waste of a perfectly decent cocktail. Secondly, it is just rude to snatch. We or then ordered our food and it didn't take long to come. The steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I couldn't fault it. Chips were also lovely and the salad was fresh and crunchy. The only thing that ruined this meal for us was the loud couple seated behind us. They were obviously very drunk and proceeded to argue throughout the meal. The waitress then served them another bottle of wine when they could clearly see that they were already causing a scene! So much so, that everyone in the restaurant noticed what was going on. If it wasn't for that, the meal would have been perfect.

Didn't book but managed a table for four on a Saturday night. Service faultless, the Maitre d' was so friendly, nothing too much effort for the staff. Excellent beers but the house wine a little thin. We shared wafer thin sirloin steak on a bed of rocket to start - superb. Red peppers and goats cheese was surprisingly overpowered with bread but the pork ribs were a huge portion and fabulous. Added to the overall excellent impression we showed our Tastecard when we arrived and got 50% off the food bill (not the drinks). Didn't make the connection with Greg Wallace at first but you've got a very good place!

The restaurant is lovely and has a nice bar area and there is also a nice view of the kitchen so if you like seeing what's going on behind the scenes you can.I had cutlets my husband had steak which he claimed was one of the nicest he had ever had in his life. The food was really nice, with completely delicious curly kale served with chillies. It was fairly simple 'grill food' as you would expect rather than more complicated restaurant style food, but it was really nicely done. The portion sizes were perfect. The best thing is that if you have a Taste London card they accept it so you get 50% off your food order and they even let you use it on a Friday which is pretty unusual.

After checking out a few options, I decided to book The Bishop for my friends Christmas dinner. The staff were incredibly flexible and kept in regular contact to ensure everything was organised. The food exceeded all expectations (as a vegan I was especially impressed) and the service was equally impressive; the team were friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout the evening. I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience. A huge thank you to all the managers and staff who helped in the lead-up and made our evening so great!
