The Grazing Sheep in Ipswich

I’ve been meaning to visit here for a while now, as always hear good things & it’s always busy when I walk past. I wasn’t disappointed! Mu friend and I visited on a Sunday morning in November, around 11.30. Luckily we got the last available table! Which was outside, with a lovely view. It was a warm morning, but there were blankets just incase. I went for Smoked salmon Pan De Cristal & added a poached egg. Really generous portion size and a generous amount of tasty salmon, fresh rocket etc. I really liked the dill oil on my bread, absolutely lovely! 😋 To drink I had a tea ☕️ (Pictured) My friend had Chicken Pan De Cristal and a smoothie. I’ve added a photo. Really nice atmosphere, you’re not rushed at all. Friendly staff, especially the owner, who has a great sense of humour. He made me laugh when he told my Spanish friend how to order 😊 An absolute Gem! I can see why it’s always packed! See you again soon 😊

Tasty Food Beautiful View Good Service Friendly Staff Went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning and had to wait for 10 minutes before being seated. The food was freshly prepared and took about 15 minutes as informed and was really good. We liked everything we ordered. Especially the "Royal" and the "BLT" The only thing we didn't like was the glass provided to drink water had stain marks and showed age.

Really nice cafe on the Ipswich pier, with really friendly staff. Food and coffee were good quality, even though the coffee could have been a bit better. That's the only reason I'm taking a star off, as the coffee suffered from the regular issue of done in the wrong, too high temperature. The atmosphere was really nice. Prices were good for the location but might be a bit high if you just want to grab a bite to eat.

Popped in for breakfast sausage sandwich was amazing and the eggs benedict also. Definitely will be back

A favourite of mine in Ipswich, friendly service, delicious food and some of the best coffee I've ever had. Can't recommend highly enough.

Outstanding food and outstanding service. it's clear as day to see that the owner and staff take great pride in the jobs they do, and that is always great to see :) the poached eggs are cooked to perfection and the BLT is honestly to die for!!! we can't wait to be back :D

Absolutely delicious food. Twice we've been here now, and each time was spectacular. The BLT I had today was the best BLT I've had. Owner is kind and accommodating, not sure why some people say he's rude. This place will certainly become a regular of ours.

I have been visiting since I moved to Ipswich 2 years ago and now have an office right next door - Bart the owner is amazing, so accommodating and just a lovely person, the food is always 10/10 and his team of servers are always polite and helpful. We love the Graczing Sheep! 🫶

Outstanding breakfast I went for "The Avo" - which is Sourdough toast, with avocado puree, topped with rocket, maple seeds and poached eggs. I was hungry so decided, to add an extra poached egg and their spinach falafel. Rather than give me the extras on a side plate like most places would, they smashed the falafel into the avocado and dressed the extra egg in, honestly it was delightful. The guy who seemed to be running the place was very friendly too. Nice sitting outside looking at the harbour too

Asked to sit outside in the sun and was told to go upstairs instead or go elsewhere. Very rude and uncalled for.

Was told they had a gluten free carrot cake. But when looked myself gluten free cake was on the same tray as wheat cake. When explained that now the gluten free carrot cake was not safe to eat as not kept separate. The staff was very rude. Do not eat there if you have an allergy. Not to be trusted.

Member of staff was rude and obnoxious, alright food though.

I booked the Grazing Sheep for a friends hen do, an afternoon tea for 16. Bart was so helpful in booking everything and responded to my emails clearly and always promptly. I had no idea what to expect, but all I can say is it was better than I could have hoped for. We were given the whole of the first floor area. Nothing was too much trouble, we were checked on to make sure all was OK and were even brought a speaker so we could play music. The food on offer was incredible; so much choice between us all and very flavoursome. It was seriously good value for money and I have paid more for other afternoon teas, and gotten much less in terms of quality and quantity. Everyone was really impressed with the experience and I don’t think any of us would hesitate to recommend. Thank you Bart and the team.

This place is amazing, the perfect town setting 10 meters from the marina, the food is exceptional matched only by the fantastic hospitality from Bart, the owner, this charming gentleman treated us and everyone that entered, like celebrities. Highly recommended and we will be back 🙏👍

Love this little gem of a cafe on the waterfront. Sitting outside watching the world go by was lovely. Great service too and they even provided water for my dog. Highly recommend

Staff was so lovely and our server did a great job despite the manager/owner. There was a small mix up with our drinks order and instead of just correcting it he then shouted at his staff loud enough that even the customers outside heard. We felt very uncomfortable and didn’t think the staff should be treated with such disrespect. Our server was very apologetic and did not deserve that treatment after a small mistake. So disappointing as the food was very nice.

Best gluten-free and dairy free breakfast ever! I had poached eggs on a bed of mashed avocado 🥑 and smoked salmon with maple seeds. It was tasty, and it wasn't dry. Great coconut 🥥 cappuccino ☕️ The staff were kind and professional. Good music, too. There's a big parking nearby.

Came here for a hen do last weekend and had a wonderful time. The owner was so accommodating and sweet and very generous and kind. The bride to be had a lovely time, the food was great (lots of veggie options which was great for me) and the whole upstairs we had to ourselves which was a nice touch. Thank you team!

At last I managed to get a table outside and admire the amazing view. I opted for the Grazing Sheep cream tea and it did not disappointed a generous portion of clotted cream which is always a bonus. The scone was very fresh and the slice of cake was also generous and delicious. The staff are very welcoming.

The queue was long on a sunny Sunday late morning but it was worth the wait and the owner warned all of us how long it would be realistically before we were seated. He had good banter with his customers. The food was very well presented, imaginative, generous and fresh tasting. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience, none of us had a bad word to say about any of it. I'm glad I chose a vegetarian option, I would very much recommend the falafal open sandwich on sourdough toast. The tomato tapenade, pumpkin seed sprinkles and chive yoghurt dressing took falafel to a whole other level! The falafel was a layer rather than balls so they didn't roll of the toast. That level of detail was typical throughout. We got our teapot topped up when I accidently drank my friend's tea. They'd run out of the spinach is the only negative I can think of, but that was due to the deserved popularity of the place.

A lovely welcome by very friendly staff. Very clean establishment with spotless cutlery and crockery. Breakfast muffin was excellent- absolutely zero grease or water on my plate given I had the Full Monty. My Browns breakfast was also very very good with zero complaints… Lucky to have an upstairs table with views across the marina. Many business could take a leaf out of this places ethics 👏🏻 Note- seating downstairs and outside.

Popped in for a light lunch, had the smoked chicken sandwich which was to die for! Service was friendly and on a nice spot by the water.

It was absolutely amazing experience. Food was soooo delicious. Service was fantastic. I could give 10 stars for this wonderful place. My friend said it was the best meal she ever had in England 🤩🇪🇪

Amazing food, lovely views. It can get super busy and you are unable to book but they always do the best to get you in & is reasonably short wait if you choose too.

Fabulous breakfast, superb staff and amazing setting

Fabulous brunch with a beautiful sunshine. I went for their English breakfast 🍳🥓🍞🍅🍄, it's different yet great taste. My partner went for pancake 🥞🥓, not too bad. But, mine was far better. We won't hesitate coming back to taste their sourdough toast, look brilliant 🤤.

2nd in the queue for a table and told half an hour wait, so fine - I ordered an iced coffee to takeaway and enjoy in the sun. Took ages for it to come then I was told it was £6? For a takeaway coffee? More expensive than Starbucks! I walked away and took one sip, no exaggeration was the most disgusting coffee I’ve ever had. 0/10 all round

Lovely Waterfront venue with good food and very friendly service

Beautiful location with delicious food and a warm welcome. Watching the owner was like watching a mini-masterclass in good hospitality; greeting regulars and newcomers alike with the same genuine and warm welcome. Service like that goes a long way to make you feel a valued customer, and that’s clearly a big priority here! I enjoyed my avocado toast with rocket & toasted seeds, sans egg as I wanted it to be vegan. I was advised to try the vegan feta instead, and after my hesitation I was glad I did! The chef apparently marinades the feta in oil and spices and it was a tasty extra addition! (I even took some cubes home for my evening salad!) My OH enjoyed his breakfast “pan de Cristal”, along with soya latte and a peach smoothie. It was lovely to sit upstairs in the sunny room overlooking the marina. Will definitely return!

This place has the best coffee in ipswich, period.

Perfect breakfast, service and very reasonably priced. Lovely location. However..... I've just gone on your FB page and to my dismay I see scones, cream 1st then jam well.... having lived in Cornwall for 25 years, I'm appalled, Jam 1st peeps.... 😆 what the heck, we can over come this small misdemeanor, we'll definitely be back. ❤️

A gem at the waterfront. I enjoyed the customer service, having ham and cheese croissant, with cuppaccino for breakfast. The waterfront location is a bonus.

Popped in en route to a first visit to Portman Road ground 48/92, to watch the historic Woman's game. Great service definitely the Spanish influence of look after the customers, lovely view and the Bacon and Brie Pan de Cristal was amazing.

Called in for breakfast, slightly different than I expected but very nice and tasty and all staff very friendly.

What a great find! Situated on the waterfront with a lovely view. Staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Menu was varied and made us spoilt for choice! The food was lovely and you can tell they only use quality ingredients. Will be visiting again soon!

Had a really enjoyable breakfast, sitting outside in the sun in March in T shirts! Food is amazing and excellent value, love the owner, very friendly and good banter, would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

I ate here recently, and the food (I ordered a cheese scone), coffee, and service was brilliant. Everyone was friendly and helpful. This was my first visit, but it certainly won't be my last.

After the month of January for the new flooring being put in. They reopened at the start of February.. The restaurant is a credit to the waterfront! Even on a rainy Sunday Morning, it’s always the same. The food & the coffee are exceptional. To all the staff that work there, Thank you as always 🤩❤️ Sunday Mornings wouldn’t be the same without you all..

Came to The Sheep on a rainy Sunday but as usual was greeted with a very warm welcome from Mr B and the whole team, sat down ordered a Cafe con leche, a full Monty (which I always recommend you try!) and then went for a cheeky order of the Canadian pancakes 🤤!

Lovely location on the waterfront, food presentation is absolutely perfect and matched by the taste of the food and a really relaxing atmosphere.

This is a 5 star plus experience, food was excellent, coffee really good . The staff were super friendly and the views were amazing . Will definitely come again. , highly recommended , good value for good quality food.

I,d noticed that it was shutting for some building works but didn't mind it was so cold sitting outside didn't really appeal to me . Then on one of my wife's regular visits to Facebook it popped up it had reopened so off we went . Same lovely people same lovely situation and today some lovely sun. Bart the owner took pride in showing us the new flooring upstairs (what a lovely area ) but we then sat outside and made the most of the sun ...lovely morning....well done Bart and crew good to see you back.

Every visit to Ipswich always has to include a trip to the grazing sheep for an outstanding breakfast/brunch. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Fabulous establishment with phenomenal service and simply magnificent food. I always make it a point to bring and introduce my friends and family to The Grazing Sheep and they all end up falling in love with it. Absolutely obsessed with their Avo sandwich.

Excellent spot for coffee/lunch, I've been there twice and both times have been great. Very nice bustling atmosphere, good coffee, and the lunch was surprisingly good! Seating upstairs or outside are both stunning for views.

After much research (and I'm super fussy), we decided on The Grazing Sheep to have brunch before my son's graduation ceremony last week. We received a warm and friendly welcome from the owner and the lovely man who served us. Our food was fresh, delicious, used high quality ingredients and the service was excellent. It was the perfect choice for us and we were not disappointed in any way - I have very high expectations too! Thank you to the owner and all the staff - the owner had a nice chat with us on our way out and made a point of congratulating my son on his graduation. It's the little things that make all the difference sometimes! Thank you to all at The Grazing Sheep - we would love to come again if we're in the area!

Lovely morning to have breakfast outside on the waterfront with family visiting with their dog. Did feel sorry for waitress, she asked if we wanted water for the dog, we said yes, but was never bought over. Ordered for four people but only three dishes arrived. Food was lovely, have previously received great service, won't stop us from coming again.

You will probably have to wait to get seated but trust me it's worth it, lovely coffee and amazing well cooked local produce.

Very popular place on the harbourside in Ipswich. They had run out of some items by 11 am for breakfast but food was very tasty using good ingredients.

Friendly staff, lovely outlook over the marina and great food. They were able to adapt pretty much all of the menu to offer a gluten free option.

View is nice. Although there are many other cafes around that offer the same view. The man who runs the cafe is loud, disrespectful to its guests and thinks being rude is funny. Quite surprised by his show-off attitude and requests a scene, when the food is average and is mostly a seasonable cafe. Happy to say, I will never go back.

Come to c family for weekend in Ipswich before kids went back to school as summer has been full of away!! We enjoyed a brunch hear!! Food and service amazing!! I recommend to all who like good produce🥰

Took myself for a solo breakfast and reading date here. Really friendly and attentive management, regularly checking if everything was satisfactory. Had a really, simple yet tasty breakfast pan de cristal. My only criticism is i initially had a really dirty cup for my tea, but I requested another one, and all was well! I look forward to coming back to try other options on the menu soon!

Visiting friends with family in Ipswich we went here for breakfast before a busy day. Unfortunately there were new staff which caused issues with table service (we made it very clear it wasn’t an issue) - however, there were just us and one other table. On multiple occasions the wrong orders were brought to our table (which was fine). Eventually my order came, however, it turns out it was actually partially the other tables order - I waited and waited for the food to be removed but it was not so I ate while the rest of my table watched and then eventually the rest of the food came out. The manager was so so rude to us “why didn’t you return it” firstly - how was I to know the rest of our order wasn’t to follow when what I ordered was brought to the table and no one took it back from me after about 5 mins I ate it otherwise it would’ve been cold? Then when I asked for something to be done about the bill since I ate alone and then watched the rest of my table eat he was basically shouting at me giving me 10% off the bill “because that’s what you want isn’t it” so bizarre. He didn’t once apologise to us for the confusion & the fact I ate alone. Honestly we’re not moany people. At no point did we pressure for time, we kept telling our waitress not to worry etc. Then upon payment on the way out I asked if we can split the bill and he said “well I’ll have to won’t I - don’t want you to get upset again” - also someone who delivered the food to the table had really bad B.O.

What a shame. What should’ve been a lovely breakfast experience in a different place turned in to a disaster. Poor waitress on her second d day seemed to have little support leaving one of us eating before the other five got their meal. The owner or manager was so rude to us when we politely asked for discount. Wouldn’t let us explain the issue. Then when we went to pay we requested to pay separately and was told , well if I don’t you will complain. A rude arrogant man. Will not return to this place. Just hope the poor waitress didn’t get into trouble.

What a lovely place. The Gentleman running this place is so friendly and the service and food was fabulous. Dog friendly aswell. Would definitely recommend and next time I am traveling through would definitely pop back.

Without a doubt, the best place in Ipswich for breakfast,a gem on the waterfront! Amazing, freshly prepared food, stunning views, and fab staff from a friendly welcome to a thank you and goodbye for the custom from the owner and all the staff. We went for breakfast and have previously been for tapas too, that l would highly recommend for authentic Spanish tapas. I just wish they would do this on a Saturday evening as well as a Friday!

Once again had a lovely Tapas meal. Excellent service and food with a couple of new dishes this time. Very friendly caring staff, had throws on request if you did feel a bit chilly not that we needed them, good setting on the quayside if you shut your eyes you could feel like being on holiday abroad. Highly recommend .

Was a very late breakfast, food was delicious, my bacon was maybe just a little too crispy ..but so hard to make everyone happy! Staff as always were lovely, nothing is too much trouble.
