Wonderful room for after wedding meal . All food was hot and extremely tasty as clean plates left. Excellent service from all staff, well done to chef and kitchen staff, as not easy producing large number at once. Pre order good idea. Highly recommended

The service and atmosphere was fine, but having had very good sausage and mash at the Grantley Arms before, I was disappointed to find the sausages this time were of a much lower quality, in that they lacked flavour and it was difficult to cut through the skin. I do not see why a pub with a good reputation for food needs to cut corners like this and suggest that better quality sausages are used.

Always enjoy going to the Grantley to Clean dishes! Decided to come into today, whilst on my two week break, to do some writing and have a spot of lunch. Service: Unreal! Food: Unreal! Atmosphere: Unreal!!! Managers Warren and Jen were on top as per usual and Waitress Jess' was a Delight and her service was snappy and quick! I had completely forgotten that sandwiches, by default, come with a side of chips and I'd accidentally ordered an extra portion ( very silly of me) and GMW (General Manager Warren) was a legend, as always, and refunded me the money for the chips! An outstanding visit to the quaintest little pub around, can't recommend enough! P.s. All negative reviews are a load of rubbish :)

I had a quick scan of the reviews of this place and decided to give it a go for Sunday lunch .Unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing .. very overcooked sirloin roast and the pork belly wasn’t even recognisable as such . The atmosphere was good but to be seated at a makeshift table on the main entrance thoroughfare when there seemed plenty of other tables around was a bit strange ? I don’t want to give too much of a negative review and just let the photos of my Sunday lunch do the talking . I feel a bit sorry for not leaving a tip as the wait staff tried their best .. but I’m sure they know the food is really not up to scratch . I really don’t know why other reviewers actually rave about the food ? Perhaps they should get out more ?

Booked my daughter’s 14th birthday party for her and friends. Food was great as well as service. Originally she planned a picnic which had to be cancelled day before due to weather. Grantley Arms managed to fit us all in (even though more came than we booked). All staff were extremely professional and pleasant. I’d highly recommend this gastropub for a small or large gathering. Our booking was last minute and difficult due to extra numbers, and its the staff excelled.

We had an AMAZING time and meal at the Grantley Arms on Saturday in their private room as a special celebration with our close family after getting married. The staff took extra special efforts to look after us including writing on the chalk board, extra special attention on service, even learning our names from the placeholders, and the waiter George nearly sacrificed his hair on the candle taking a photo for us! Excellent service and excellent food. I would be back again to celebrate our anniversary I hope! Thank you.

We visited for the first time today. Food and and settings were fab, very dog friendly. The Banoffee pudding was to die for! The highlight for us though was the service. We were looked after by Adam. I would say one of the best waiters we have had in a very long time. Adam was friendly and attentive and nothing was too much. They should be very pleased to have you… I would hire you in a heartbeat ☺️

I recently applied for a Chef de Partie role at Grantley Arms and was thrilled to be selected. However, there was an issue with my right-to-work documentation, which I promptly resolved by obtaining the correct document from my university. Despite my swift action and clear communication, I received a rejection email without any explanation. This experience has been incredibly disappointing, especially since I declined another job opportunity to join Grantley Arms. The lack of transparency and the abrupt rejection after resolving the document issue reflect poorly on their hiring process. I would advise potential applicants to consider this before applying, as their recruitment practices appear disorganised and inconsiderate. Totally unfair.

Waited over half an hour for a starter. Then a further half an hour for our mains. Wrong dish served, then key ingredients missing from dish, had to ask about missing elements twice. Food drowned in the sauce so couldn't eat it. Nice looking pub and tried fairly hard on service when staff eventually made eye contact. Prices far too high based on what was served and service. Disappointing.

Sixth time I've been there in about 18 months! I wouldn't go back if I didn't expect it to be as good as last time and each time it delivers on my hopes. It's good, verging on very good. The thing is, the little things I would change to improve it , wouldn't really make much of a difference to the quality of the experience. Like, for example, a warm plate on which to serve the food, and then the food would arrive piping hot instead of on the hot side of warm. Silly little thing, but I had to ask for more gravy as mine ran out about 1/4 of the way through eating. Just a slightly larger gravy boat? Food, good. Drink, same. Service, excellent. Atmosphere ...ok but very much a gastro-pub. But, it's warm and welcoming and would I go there again? Answer is definitely yes.

The food here is disappointing. I'm not sure how you can put burrata on your menu that comes out as mozzarella torn up. The tomatoes had no flavour. Don't charge prices that don't reflect the food. My flat bread came out hard and burrata wasn't what you would expect at all so I'm not sure how you are putting this on the menu. Both meals were messy and when the meals came out again they were better but you had still burnt the seeds that went over the chicken, they were rock hard. It is poor quality for the prices in Surrey in my opinion. Thank you for making again but you could have offered a discount for my wait time and how bad it was

My dog was fine we sit there an hour with others people's around didn't get upsad, but with him standing making my dog anxious, I have to tell the man clam down stop making me and my dog anxious when we was in peace.. my husband came over saw that, say he is very rude and trying to make things worse when he should not act that way.. What make me upsad is that he says dog issues like anxious should not be allowed in his place be kick out the place. I am sad when only think all dogs have no issue and must be best all the time.. if the man can be a bit consider, my dog can claim down very quickly rather than standing there, none stop telling us off.. Bit of a mixed experience for a very special family gathering to celebrate a 90th birthday. We'd had to preorder food on a limited menu. I thought this meant we would not be waiting too long for the food. But we did 50 minutes. The TV sound through the speakers was so loud nobody could hear conversation. Staff said they couldn't turn it down. Portion sizes for the same dish varied wildly. One was half the size of another. And don't order the banofee pie. It was a sticky toffee pudding with a slice of banana on top!

We went there on a quiet Monday lunchtime, so cannot comment on the atmosphere. The service was reasonably attentive. We were pleasantly surprised to see the Light Options were really rather unusual at a time when pretty every pub has an identical menu. I had bubble & squeak with black pudding, crispy bacon and 2 perfect poached eggs. Pudding was also a surprise, we had a burnt cream pudding (think crème brûlée) which was excellent We came back on a Saturday evening and of course there was more of an atmosphere (though it was earlier so a family kinda vibe). Service was friendly and attentive. I had mussels done in Guinness which was pretty unusual and excellent. My partner was equally happy. My only disappointment was there was far less choice than at lunch. It was however very good if you were a veggie. Parking is limited, maybe 15 cars max.

What has happened to the Grantley?? We live local, eaten many times here before and the food and service has been great. Tonight, a table of 5, and food and service was really, really bad. The Grantley wasn’t packed as we expected it to be, maybe others knew that it had gone downhill recently? Who knows.. Starters took half an hour to arrive. One sent back to kitchen as it was freezing cold. One was wiped from the bill as the ‘flatbread’ was inedible and couldn’t be cut with a knife. Two of us had the salmon starter listed as being served with rye bread, came served with 1.5” slices of slightly stale feeling white bread. The salmon looked and tasted like a pack from any supermarket, opened and put on a plate with dry white bread! Mains took over half an hour to arrive after starters cleared away. We had to ask where they were, and we’re told they were being plated, but still had a 10 min wait for them to be served. Fish and chips was greasy, the tartar sauce was simply mayonnaise with a some chopped herbs. The Christmas menu option of veal escalope for two of us was terrible. Really tough overcooked veal, the breadcrumbed outside was greasy and falling off the meat. Meant to be an anchovy and butter sauce, there was no sauce, and there was no anchovy flavour at all. Then desert, which also included another 15-20 minute wait. One apple and cinnamon crumble (described at ‘adequate’ at best) and three cheese plates. Crackers were stale! Plate was of cheese, stale crackers, 3 sticks of celery and a cube of quince the size of a marble. So dry!! So unpleasant to eat. 3 courses, 5 people, we waited an AGE for our food, and not one dish that was great. What’s happened to the Grantley!? It used to be great, this was terrible, really terrible. Have you lost your chef and have junior staff cooking the meals? It felt this way. Would love to hear your response Grantley Arms as tonight was not that busy for you, yet our experience was really poor in every course… real shame, we’ve been coming here for many years but we may need to find a new pub to eat after this evenings experience

A disappointing meal due to poor service and unjustifiably measly portions. The burrata starter consisted of three morsels of cheese and some tasteless vegetables. Our waiter thumped our food and drinks down carelessly, seemingly in a rush to get us out of there. He didn’t ask how I would like my steak cooked (luckily it came out nicely) and didn’t provide a steak knife or clear our empty glasses. While I understand this is a pub, if you’re going to charge restaurant prices you should provide restaurant quality service. Incidentally, the waiter was wearing shorts which is an odd choice for December and also quite unsightly.

Unfortunately, our Sunday lunch experience at the Grantley Arms was rather disappointing. We were celebrating a couple of family birthdays too. The waiter seemed to not bother writing down our table of eights order, and despite our attempts to communicate, the order came out wrong. Since then, it felt as though the staff intentionally avoided eye contact, leaving us waiting for multiple things, sauces, 1 side dish, drinks and of course one missing meal. The food itself, unfortunately, lacked flavor and most dishes arrived lukewarm. The absence of a check back prevented us from addressing these concerns directly. Post-meal, our table was one of two in the restaurant, so not as though the staff were rushed off their feet. We had to wave someone down for a dessert order, without spoons the waiter quickly dumped a pile in the middle of the table then ran off not allowing us to order any coffee or tea. To add to how empty the restaurant was at this point, a unattended toddler was racing up & down the restaurant stomping and shouting which added to our unrest. We received no apology about the missing items or lack of service we received, again having to wave someone down for the bill, we were shocked to see the service charge at the bottom of the bill which we asked to remove. Service was really shoddy, food was not worth £21 a plate, lack of attentiveness contributed to an overall sense of neglect. Wouldn’t recommend coming here for a Sunday roast, or for food in general.

We had the most amazing dinner here on recommendation from friends so glad we went! The restaurant is very romantic in the evening and feels very cozy! Oh my word the food is out of this world.
