Changing Perceptions in Waverley

(From a visiting northerner) I was really impressed with the service here, staff went over and above to make my experience as pleasant as possible.

Some things don’t change and it is great to go back to them time and again …. sometimes there are new staff but we certainly didn’t have any issues … and what we did get is an excellent, and large, cup of Latte Coffee and a caffeine free Americana together with a freshly toasted, soft and buttered Teacake ….. it was a bit early for one of those delicious house cakes!!! We have tried the “new kid on the block” Cafe down the road and frankly Changing Perceptions definitely deserves our continued support by comparison

I found that those staff who have been there year ,those 2 older ladies and the young woman with coloured hair, are amazing at their jobs. So kind and lovely and could not ask for any better! However, this new member of staff with the dark hair - she is rude. Does not appear to care in the slightest about customers, extremely rude to co-workers and all in all a bad investment for the cafe. She also is incompetent and unable to make a coffee right - who puts flour in coffee??? I came back another day and the coffee, made by her, again was lumpy and burnt - all i asked for was a simple Latte. Disgusted by her customer service- she should be fired immediately.

Wonderful tea / coffee shop with great range of snacks / light bites. Staff could not be more friendly and helpful, and my coffee was very well made. Ordered crumpets - the first I've had in many years - and enjoyed them. Planning to go back soon to try some of the other snacks and cakes, which looked very tempting... A real gem on the High St.

Was recommended Changing Perceptions cafe. What a glorious find the tea and cake were absolutely wonderful.Its very much a community cafe doing very valuable work within a charity based ethos and structure. Its virtually behind the Godalming Museum but tucked away off the main road. The cakes we had were some of the best we've tasted. Highly recommend, lovely staff, will visit again.

What a great little find having been advised by granddaughter to come here. The staff were very friendly and the lunch was perfect. Had to buy a key rack before leaving as it was just what we have been looking for. Will return as soon as we can.

Had very good lunch here today. Bit of a hidden gem really, part of a charity. Interesting food, good cakes and very good coffee. Nice people working there, and dog friendly.Also a shop for upcycled furniture.

Really lovely place with great food and coffee. I was really impressed with their social enterprise and ethos of re-purposing and up cycling furniture.

Friendly, attentive staff serving very tasty light meals, home made cakes and fresh tea and coffee. Both the cafe and the 'upcycling' workshop behind that sells furniture are supporting the local Meath Epilepsy Charity. Give the usual chains a miss and try here - highly recommended.

We recently visited Changing Perceptions and I’m so glad we did. It’s a gem of a place! We were greeted by very pleasant staff and couldn’t help but be impressed with their menu. Then we discovered it’s actually a furniture retail outlet for a local epilepsy charity as well as a lovely tea / coffee shop. Whilst there we were chatting (and laughing) with the very people that receive care from the charity (which made me appreciate the name all the more as it completely changed my perceptions) Overall it was a faultless and enjoyable experience (with delicious food thrown in for good measure) I cannot recommend them and the great work they do highly enough. A very easy 5 stars and we’ll be back whenever we’re in town. Keep up the good work and high standards. Mr G.

Lovely handmade cakes .. a hot delicious Tea or Coffee ... a casual friendly environment that is also DOG friendly .... who could ask for more? .... and did I mention also .. great value!

We spotted changing perceptions on trip advisor and thought this is the place for us- could be a nice change from the coffee shops chains ?? encouraged by some decent reviews - how disappointed we were, surly staff, lack luster menu, our optimistic perceptions were dealt a blow within a few minutes of crossing the threshold, we did not stay but went to a chain coffee shop instead, pity, there is a opportunity for independent coffee shop to win over the chains but based on our experience today changing perceptions are not there yet ...

Really enjoyed the toastie and the atmosphere. Supremely stringy cheese and delicious ham toastie with a cosy atmosphere made an excellent visit. Lovely staff and great service.

Best coffee in Godalming with excellent service in a chilled atmosphere. Very nice ambience. One star dropped as their range of cakes is sometimes limited.

This is worth a try the food is really good and the cakes are delicious with loads of choice and of course it’s for a great cause

We spotted this establishment at the top of High St opposite the old Post Office building - I use the word “establishment” as it’s both a cafe/coffee shop and wooden furniture upcycling workshop which assists with skill training for people with disability. As soon as you enter you’ll see what I mean! Cafe is at the front and workshop to rear (they’re happy to accept unwanted furniture donations). Cafe menu is not extensive and consists mainly of drinks, home made cakes and light meals - we enjoyed the savoury scones and loose leaf tea. Cheerful staff, charitable aims and family friendly environment make this a unique setting - well done!

We visited on a Tuesday morning around 11.30, and ordered an early lunch of mezze platter, savoury scones and toasted sandwiches, all of which were well presented and delicious. The children tucked into the houmous, meats and olives and then wolfed down the toasted sandwich. I had a lovely savoury scone, which was served with cream cheese and chutney. We didn’t have time or space for cake but we will certainly go back to try some, they looked amazing. Great service, prompt attentive and lovely surroundings.

Changing Perceptions is here for all the right reasons. It's a great coffee shop, it's a fantastic restored/upgraded furniture shop but best of all is what it stands for. Working for people with epilepsy and other conditions, the staff are great and so are the people they staff the establishment with. Normalising any condition is often about removing the fear of the unknown or unfamiliar. I don't believe these people could make a better job of it.

This is a lovely little place and staff are friendly, in order to keep people coming back I would suggest that managing staff speak to the young guy who served our coffees as put off by him putting our drinks down on the table holding onto the rim of the cups with his fingers which is not necessary, also noted his nails were very dirty which is unacceptable.

Plenty of places to grab a coffee in Godalming - but if you take the chains out of it where the food is not to my taste and one other which is always rammed with pushchairs and very noisy this was a great find. Good coffee and a nice selection of cakes especially scones which were bordering on Betty's Fat Rascal standards. Quirky furniture and settings combined with the furniture painting activities - we will be back!

After wandering up and down Godalming High Street in an attempt to find a non-pub lunch in an interesting non-corporate cafe, we had almost given up until, fortunately, we spotted this place.

We were pleasantly surprised stepping in to this quaint and quirky cafe. It is nicely decorated and someone has really put in effort with the signage and menu. We had a cream tea - great value for money at £5 each and sat by the window taking it all in. Would definitely recommend.

This is such a great little coffee shop living locally visit here often the staff cannot be nicer and the cappuccinos are so good as well as the treats, what I love bout this place is the beautiful refinished furniture they sell I have bought a few pieces and love the colours and shabby chic look but most important how they transform these pieces of worn donated furniture into something beautiful, most of the people that do this have epilepsy and disabilities, you are free to walk around and look at the furniture they have some beautiful pieces, absolutely love this place, they also welcome dogs too and have biscuits for them also.

So much better than any of the other coffee options in Godalming. Comfy sofas, bit smiles and great cake. And it's all in a good cause.

La cambiante percepción es una verdadera joya en la High Street, que está llena de cafés cadena sucia y la oscuridad, húmedo y alma destruyendo experiencia que es la nueva sucursal de metro.

Nos encanta venir aquí para tomar café y tarta. Todo el personal es muy educado y es un lugar de familia amable! Nuestro pequeño de 3 años pide ir aquí todo el tiempo. Altamente recomendado - especialmente el pastel de zanahoria, pastel de té chai lattes / y jengibre!

Friendly people too, and why not have a look at the furniture they do up as well (behind the counter)?

staff very attentive and friendly, its much bigger than expected and you can look around at the items for sale. where they do all the work is massive place, tea and cake was lovely, nice décor and nice place.

Percepciones cambiantes es mi lugar favorito para tomar café (o té) y tarta en Godalming. No sólo hacen el mejor café y pasteles, incluyendo algunas opciones sin gluten gratis, hay un ambiente encantador y amable también. Por no mencionar que puedes comprar muebles preciosos en la parte trasera. Probablemente no el más barato de capuchinos y tarde en Godalming.

Este nuevo café es una de las empresas sociales maravillosas de Meath; está en Godalming High Street y ha llegado con una explosión de interés y de recomendaciones de calidad! Todo ... pero todo se sirve en el café es absolutamente deliciosa, con los bollos queso para 2 personas siendo reducidos ganadores! La cafetería está al frente de esta empresa social; en la parte trasera y totalmente accesible para clientes es una zona donde los residentes de Meath trabajan en la capacidad productiva ciclismo de muebles. Esta "se encendía" es para la venta y se muestran los elementos en las ventanas y también al interior. No simplemente se basan en mi palabra. Si encuentras el chocolate y Salados caramelo pastel - tienen una porción, es la mejor tarta de la ciudad!! Esta acogedora y ecléctica cafe, con el taller de ciclismo y reciclaje detrás, es un lugar encantador para tomar la bebida de su elección (un montón de café, té y bebidas frías) con (obviamente!) de pastel ... almuerzos ligeros también ...

Una cafetería totalmente única en un lugar con buenas vibraciones y encantadores pasteles.

Cafe brillante con fácilmente el mejor pasteles en Godalming, posiblemente Surrey, quizás incluso del mundo.

He estado aquí varias veces, y cada vez, me siento muy relajado. El café es excelente, así como la tarta de chocolate y salados caramelo. El lugar parece muy guay, como un sitio en el que encontrar en algún Borough moda de Londres, pero sin el pretencioso barista los lirios. Y todo es por una buena causa ... una caridad local de epilepsia!!

Habiendo pasado esta "tienda" unas cuantas veces, la verdad es que no sé qué era - era una tienda práctica de artesanías, una tienda de té, diseño interior de am tienda ... ? - Finalmente pagaron una visita como la máquina de café y tarta destaca atrajo mi atención.
