I was there for a couple of drinks with friends. The place is amazing, front river. When it's sunny you would just spend hours there. Staff is very nice, never tried the food but my friend did and she said it's amazing!

Good location, big so quite spacious. Can get very busy but overall quiet and friendly. Staff were great.

Lovely location, friendly staff and food ok. Went with a big group. Chicken burger was great but some ordered Triple Cooked Chips that were more like half cooked chips. Overall though ok.

Came in for a quick drink today and Joe was extremely welcoming and helpful behind the bar. The pub itself is lovely. 100% recommend!

We had just arrived in Cambridge & looked for somewhere nice for lunch. The Granta is a beautiful looking pub situated on the river. The menu suited all of us, with fantastic choices for all our ages. However, the icing on the cake was the lovely waitress who served us. We asked her name which was Namrata. All the other staff who served us were lovely too. Thank you for a delicious lunch, fantastic atmosphere, friendly, welcoming staff & an all round great experience. Highly recommend!

Burnt onion and fish 😂 I wouldn’t recommend it, to be honest. The meat wasn’t great quality or tasty either. Definitely not worth the money 👎🏻

They had to give me my money back... I was recommended this restaurant for the setting and the quality of the service as well as the food. We all ordered food and drinks, except that my order (food only, I didn't want to drink) was refused because, I quote, "your order arrived 1 minute after the kitchen closed." The only solution the manager offered me was to "get my money back or have a drink but there was nothing more he could do." which I refused because I wanted to eat with my friends but I couldn't. You ruined my evening and I think you are one of the worst places to receive customers, because I clearly heard your indifference when I expressed my feelings about this situation.

The Granta does ale....and does it well. My second visit this year...and I'm still shocked that this notoriously bad ale house is now one of the best. Ignoring the standard Greene King offerings, they have local beers, done well. I came for one and stayed for three. Whatever you're doing, keep it up.

Beautiful place with nice view of the pond, although we had to wait almost an hour to be served, as probably they were not ready to face an almost fully booked pub on a warm sunny Saturday? 🤔

We loved it very much. A boat trip at Cambridge University. We took a private boat for the family, and if we liked one of the family to row or someone with the boat, it would be.. And of course the reservation was made from the first time we got off from the train station. There were two people in front of the station who were making programs for tourists. We chose with them to take a private car and take us to the boats. The service means a car with a driver instead of a bus and a boat trip with the amount of a package that we paid as soon as we left the station.. because we were more than 4 people. There were two cars, one a BMW and the other a Mercedes. The service was very elegant and the driver was courteous and helpful.. and the person who was with us in The rowing was very wonderful, and throughout the trip he was explaining about the area, and all those rowing in the boats were actually students from Cambridge University... and they gave us umbrellas and cushions, and we enjoyed ourselves, and we had simple snacks, and there were also boats in the lake that were sold to tourist boats.. We had a nice time...and we were able to go to the university, but when we did, we went to a park that was quite a distance away from it, but it was a beautiful place and the atmosphere was nicer. After that, we had lunch in a wonderful Thai restaurant.

This pub has really been on the up the last six months. Great new management and a real buzz when you walk in. Friendly, great food and atmosphere. Has become one of our regular haunts.

I'm surprised by the special dish of the day. It was with smashed potatoes and sausages but not the normal ingredients you can find at supermarket. The duck dish is flavourful.

We were four adult lunchtime diners and spent not an inconsiderable amount of money on food and drinks. The food was OK. I wanted ONE slice of plain bread to have with my crab as the 2 accompanying quarter bits of toasted bread was totally insufficient. Couldn't believe it when I was asked for £1.95. Admittedly I was given 2 slices and some butter. All businesses need to make a profit but as a business owner myself there is something called goodwill. The location was lovely by the river and the service was good.

Quite a frequent patron at the Granta and have been for a long time. The views are beautiful and the atmosphere is good, though the drinks are, even for Cambridge, on the pricey side. Went today for food with my Mum who was visiting. The food is good, albeit - again - expensive (£15 for small burger and small chips?!). However, the food took 45 minutes to arrive. After around half an hour I asked about the food, and was told it was a 30-40 minute wait. But is this standard? It was said as though it was a pre announced policy, but it was not. And that seems rather a long time to me. In the end, it took 45 minutes anyways. Rather a long time, and no explanation offered. No disrespect to the servers, as I know it is a tough job and not their fault.

Atmospheric place by the river. Has an inside and outside part. I like this place very much. Especially, during warm summer evenings.

Nice pub in great location but food was very poor and expensive for such poor quality. Such a shame.

Took amazing punt on the river with the offer of 15% off food bill, my friend ordered and paid for food/drinks for a table of 8. I took drinks to table, on my return I realised my friend had not produced the 15% discount. (I had the email with original booking for Punting). Granta refused to honour, saying too late the bill had been settled. Nothing they could do ! But in return they would offer a round of drinks to same value, So, after food we tried to order the round of drinks and the same bar staff denied what he had said earlier and wouldn’t honour this. Shocking service. Food was average, fishcakes well overcooked, had a long wait. One diner received meal when most had finished Only plus about this place is the view.

I give this place 5 stars for Sushrut and Sushrut alone - best server ever ! Thank you!!!

Well you can’t beat the atmosphere so I knew it was going to be a mixed bag. But even with that knowledge it was sub par. I ordered the house “seasoned” chips and they were simply not as advertised. No seasoning. They even managed to under salt them. At least they weren’t cold. The bloody merry was the worst I’ve ever had. I questioned if it even had vodka. Bland, watery tomato juice from the stock room. However, the others were happy with the impossible burger, fish & chips and mac & cheese, just don’t order what I did.

What a lovely riverside pub … loved the vibe … Very friendly bar tenders who gave fantastic recommendations… Definitely would suggest if you are visiting Cambridge … we enjoyed our time here after punting … with Grant tours … so got 15% discount.

Location Is very nice: It Is possible to see the river, etc. Food Is in general under the average and the service is too slow: we waited for 45 minutes to get our burgers.

Although the place is beautiful, be prepared to wait for over an hour for your food. There is something really wrong with the kitchen, we ordered through the app and afterwards we were told it was taking about 40 minutes but ended up taking almost 1.5 hours. This need to be looked into!!

So i went here with my family and for us it wasn’t that great. To begin, we ordered starters, drinks and mains and we got the drinks and the mains and the starters were late. They came after the mains of course after I asked. We ordered something called salt and pepper squid which didn’t have salt or pepper. They were very sweet and tasteless. I asked for salt which they never brought. I had to asked them personally to wipe the table. The rest of the food was delicious at the moment but after we left, me and my daughter started to have tummy pain and we vomited a lot. So I’m not sure what it was because me and my daughter only shared the house fries. So overall our experience was a bad one this time.

Kiev was not a kiev. Nacho sharing platter was a bit small. Great drink selection, friendly staff.

Amazing setting with views over the river and park. We held a special event here , Kevin and his team could not have been more accommodating of our needs, even with our strict dietary requirements. We were made to feel very welcome , could not recommend enough.

Ordered the duck and hash was so good. Person who brought our food (blond chap slightly long hair) was very friendly and accommodating. The view is beautiful- never disappointed coming here when in Cambridge. Only criticism is it’s not access friendly- I had to carry my buggy up and down two sets of steps but it’s the location and how the pub is set out but other than that it’s five stars from me all round

Such a super pub/resturant ! This was our 2nd visit and how lovely that the staff remembered us ! We had a spectacular roast on a Sunday a few months ago and today the Atlantic cod, wow.. chunky and cooked to perfection! We sat outside today as it was so beautiful, lovely courtyard garden area with fabulous views over the river Cam. The menu is small but perfectly varied for anyone’s tastes. Toilets were immaculate!! Thank you guys for another super lunch and a special thanks to Lauren, what a delightful young lady and works so hard !

I just felt discriminated against when I was told to use the out side table exposing me to extreme coldness of 10:Pm in the night yet inside the bar it was well heated.

The food is great and also the people working there. Nice outdoor area...

This review is a shout out for going one step further in customer service. I was there for lunch on a wet day and left my favourite umbrella by the front door. It's not worth much to anyone, but I've had this brollie for over 10yrs and use it all the time and I've somehow not managed to lose it. So when I got back to London and realised I'd left it, I was gutted. I called Granta to see if they still had it and willing to send it to me. (I paid them for the shipping and added a tip.) I half expected them to say they don't have the time or it wasn't their policy to send and I'd need to go up and get it -- but they agreed and within 2 days, I was reunited!!! Thanks so much. This sort of customer service says something about the pub and its philosophy. I will certainly go back again! (Especially when it's sunny and I can sit outside to enjoy the amazing view -- and not bring my umbrella!)

Didn't know what punting was so had to definitely try out this tour. It was 50 minutes long and touched on all the major landmarks. Learned a lot more than I expected to. I recommend.

Is your food microwaved? Firstly, the steak and ale pie was, as my partner put it, "all ale and pie, no steak". I asked him if it was what a Fray Bentos tasted like. The gravy that came with it was too generous with the ale taste as well, and the triple-cooked chips made us think it's called so because they're: cooked once in the factory; twice yesterday; and third just before we ordered. The pulled mushroom chili wasn't that great either-- nothing was "pulled" about the chopped mushroom bits; sauce felt like it came packaged; the guacamole tasted store bought. When we're approached by someone at the beginning of our meal, asking us how the food is, we didn't realise yet just how much we were lying when we said "it's alright". What a waste of money. We told ourselves that we were paying for the privilege of sitting out of the breeze but in the sun, and for a view of the greens across.

Firstly, the service was subpar as the table remained uncleaned despite multiple waiters passing by. Furthermore, I was left waiting for over half an hour just to receive a starter, which is simply unacceptable. Moreover, the atmosphere of the restaurant was severely lacking. The only positive aspect was the presence of sunlight, as everything else failed to contribute to a pleasant dining experience. Lastly, the quality of the food was extremely disappointing. The halloumi, in particular, was tasteless and left me feeling unsatisfied. It felt like a complete waste of space in my stomach. Overall, I regret to say that this dining experience fell far below my expectations. The lackluster service, uninspiring atmosphere, and underwhelming food quality make it difficult for me to recommend this establishment to others.

A really nice place on the water. We went for lunch. I had their grilled cheese and chips, didn’t take a photo of it because I was too busy enjoying it. Great gin & tonic, it was perfect.

Very average. We went on a Saturday for lunch, and while it was busy, I don't think it was busy enough to warrant a 1 hour wait for food. The staff were great and very friendly though. Once our food arrived it wasnt anything great. Not bad that I would send it back but just not worth the wait, it was average. We got steak ciabatta and chips. Just meh overall, the steak wasn't very warm, and rather bland. There are plenty of other places I would recommend going over here. 2 drinks, 2 sandwiches and 1 portion of chips was £38 and I don't think it was worth the money. The only time I would come back would be for a drink in the sun by the river, the outside terrace on a sunny day is it's saving grace.

Extremely disappointing. Worst Roast I have ever eaten. Hard crunchy potatoes no fluff. Skinniest carrots I have ever seen. Half the plate a cabbage. Tiny portion. Terrible taste. Would not recommend.

We went for the late lunch. The food was very bad. I had the beef pie. There was no beef inside but just the thick hard crust which I couldn’t eat. The roasted cabbage on the side was dried up. Really regretted that we chose to eat there. Maybe okay to have drinks to enjoy the view but def not for food.

Come to the Granta every week. Never disappointed. Service is great, the staff are always welcoming and friendly. Good choice of drinks and good food too!

Nice food shane about the beer. I had two pints. Different types. Abbot Ale and Greene King IPA. Both were cloudy and tasted sour.

Wonderful Christmas Day lunch. Jamie and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make our day special.
