We stopped off here after a walk for breakfast and highly recommend. Its dog friendly and was packed at 10am on a Saturday which was a good sign. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a couple of the English breakfasts and a breakfast bap which was so tasty. The breakfasts was freshly cooked and not at all greasy. Great coffee too, highly recommend

Very lack lustre lunchtime experience here recently. Sign said wait to be seated… which we followed. Eventually managed to catch a server’s eye and asked where we could sit, to be told ‘you can sit where you like’. The tables were sticky and needed cleaning - not sure why these hadn’t been done as it wasn’t busy. Waited ages for someone to take our order… he really would benefit from some basic training in hospitality skills as these were severely lacking. The food was passable but expensive for what we had. The quiche and salad consisted of a microwaved quiche resulting in soggy pastry - and the salad was more like a garnish - not good value at over £10. Plenty of other better value and nicer eating experiences to be had nearby.

Wanted to try this place for a while. Utterly disappointed with service. waited 20mins for order to be taken after asking twice at the till one breakfast out of 3 didn’t even come out after reminding them one is missing, still no breakfast, around 4-5 members of staff stood around chatting by the tills. Owners really need to retrain or get new staff. Big let down.

Haven’t been here for a while, although sign says wait to be seated, we were told sit anywhere and we’ll come and take your order, we couldn’t see anywhere to sit but a staff member saw us looking and directed us around the corner. We waited a good ten minutes and no one came to take our order. In the meantime a table opposite became occupied and the server who had seated us proceeded to take their order before us! So we got up and left. Won’t be back.

Always feel like I need to wipe my table over but other than that the food is fab. Service quite slow as staff seem very young and unsure of what to do but sure they’ll get there! Still a lovely place to visit and we always enjoy our food: the cake is fab!

Awful food. Staff all standing around chatting and not serving (except the young lady with ginger hair who did all the work. Others just wandered aimlessly around. When we asked one of them if we could order food, it was as if we’d asked about nuclear physics. Clueless. Not surprised the ratings are so low.

We went today for lunch . We have been several times in the past for breakfast and always very happy with our experience but today was awful l. The cafe was quite busy but tables available so we sat down and waited and waited but the young waitresses seemed more intent on standing chatting than serving . The tables around us were also waiting then when one was served we thought we would be next but no ! Eventually after 20 minutes we got up to leave . We had to pass the till area to leave but not one of the three girls there looked over at us or made any effort to ask if there was a problem . We then went to a local pub and had a great meal . Will not be returning . What a shame as in the past it’s been a nice place to visit

For a cafe in a small craft village, I was very surprised at the huge choice of brunch, lunch, and snacks. The choice of drinks and hot chocolate was vast. My daughter and I had coffee, I had cake which was a very large piece and lovely, and my daughter had pancakes. Lots of fruit and a very adequate portion. Good value for money. The only downside was the wait for service. Signs said to take a seat for table service but we had to go to the counter to ask for someone to come after waiting some time. All in all a pleasant experience especially for a cafe, not a restaurant and I would go back.

I don’t normally write bad reviews but I feel I should warn others about this place. Poor service, says table service but after waiting for 20 long minutes I went to the till area to order. I then waited and waited for my drinks but first to turn up was my ploughman’s. I was very disappointed with this, less than half a scotch egg, 2 bits of bread, 1 pickle onion, 2 pieces of cheese a little pickle and salad, no butter all for £10. Drinks turned up once I had finished my ploughman’s and then the order of cake was wrong for my wife. Now the place itself was dirty, tables not cleared, food on the floor but with 5 members of staff standing around the cafe that wasn’t busy you would think they would put in more of a effort. Next door is a garden centre with a cafe, please go and see the ploughman’s you can get for £12, real value for money and better service.

Previously lived in the area and used to frequent this place a lot. Not is a former ghost of what it once was with very poor service and a complete lack of interest. Had a coffee cake and coffee and wished I had not bothered as was dry and hardly a decent portion. Staff (5 of them) seemed more interested in staying behind the counter area and laughing amongst themselves. Tables not properly wiped. Not worth the money and not worth my custom.

Stopped for a coffee and breakfast while kids were at a party in brickies. Firstly, table was filthy, when waitress came over she had a damp cloth and proceeded to spread chocolate sauce left by others all over table, no disinfectant spray. Coffee and breakfast arrived and to be fair, both were ok, found a large piece of eggshell in my scrambled egg which I pointed out to waitress (she shrugged , said sorry, and walked off 🤦🏻♂️) Shame, as could have been really good if not so dirty and staff not so uninterested.

This used to be somewhere I would visit regularly, where you could get excellent value lunch with great service. Sadly, our last 3 visits have been disappointing (we kept hoping it was just a "one off" bad day...) Food quality has gone downhill, with smaller portions than before and the taste just isn't there. Service is haphazard. A shame as this used to be a little gem of a place.

Arrived for lunch on Sat. Tables outside had not been cleared so had to sit at dirty table. Had to ask to have table cleared and cleaned. Waited to have our order taken but no one came. Finally had to ask to have our order taken. Tea arrived but we waited and waited and watched other customers who had arrived after us getting their food. Called a young man who went to enquire about our order and he returned to tell us that our food was next. NOT TRUE!, We again watched other tables getting food ordered after our order had been taken. After waiting 50 mins I asked to see the manager and this young lady then insisted that all food was prepared in order. I again repeated that others who had come in well after us, had been served while we were still waiting. She insisted that this could not be the case. NO APOLOGY. We left after paying for the tea and had a late lunch at a neighbouring establishment.

I visited on a cold harsh November day, and was lured inside The Grange Chocolate Cafe by the wide-ranging menu and the warmth of the premises - presumably heated at considerable cost as it is housed in what appears to be a large wooden shed. The decor is clean and modern, although the metal chairs are neither comfortable nor attractive and seem to be designed for outdoor use. Staff are friendly, and there really is a considerable range of food on offer from all-day breakfasts (including omelettes, eggs benedict, full English, etc), to sandwiches, hot meals, and cakes. Prices are fairly good, and the coffee is excellent. The menus have seen better days and are very worn such that the lamination has been lost at the corners, and, regardless of seeming to have been wiped, cannot be properly cleaned (due to loss of lamination).

Brilliant selection of cakes which is matched with an extensive hot drinks menu. We didn’t try any savoury food so can’t comment on it. The full English breakfast here has always been really good, with high quality ingredients, and a lovely fried tomato covered very tasty herbs. My breakfast today was very disappointing. Two scrawny slices of bacon, one mostly fat and the other hard, probably reheated. The sausage was OK but not very tasty. No tomato. My mother had a burger. very hard and overcooked. It was a thin one, no doubt cooked from frozen. She could not eat it and sent it back, and had a ham sandwich instead. The sandwiches used to come with a very tasty salad, but this is no more and you just get some crisps. Will not be going there again, such a pity. The prices seem to have gone up in recent months too.

Shame as it is a lovely little place but the Service let the experience down, perhaps have one dedicated person to a Private function so there is always someone on hand.

Well I was not impressed with the service or the food, the only positive thing I can say was the fact that when I complained that my jacket potato was brown inside and obviously rotten, it was replaced without question . But replaced with over cooked and under cooked items on the same plate it looked like someone had thrown leftovers onto my plate then half cooked some eggs and served it as my replacement meal. The eggs were practically raw. I wonder if this place has been taken over since last year when my visit was lovely, it’s was so different. Tables remained dirty and not cleared it should have been a giveaway that there was not pride in the service.

This is a classic example of trying to skimp on staff to the detriment of being able to provide adequate service-it seems to make no business sense and we ended up getting a full refund. All we ordered at 4pm on a Saturday was a couple of drinks, a cake and an ice cream for our little boy. Easy you would think-but no. Waited ages for drinks and then after another wait asked about the cake and ice cream..the young waitress looked stressed and confused and admitted the ticket was lost. To her credit she agreed a full refund-hence one star. Such a shame as the cafe is in a lovely spot and could do so much better. Ordered an omelette and a vege breakfast plus a tea and a coffee. The food took over half an hour and we didn't get the drinks at all. When I asked what had happened to them the lady was very apologetic as they'd obviously been completely forgotten. The tea and coffee then did arrive quite quickly afterwards. The omelette was ok but came with salad smothered with a disgusting mustard dressing. Vege breakfast was good but the beans were cold. Cakes looked delicious although we didn't try them. They need to get their act together a bit more and service needs to be better.

I explained I hadn't ordered any hot drinks and she got even more arsey with me. I was told my order had been sent to my table so I returned but it wasn't there. We visited the The Grange purposely to go to the chocolate cafe. It seems to have a smaller range than that of the Henley branch but still a good amount of choice. One small let down was everything was large and didnt seem to do anything small for children from the cake selection. I had the pecan pie and my husband had the chocolate parfait cheesecake. The pie was rich but not jaw achingly sweet and the parfait my husband really enjoyed saying though rich it was also very light in texture. It was very quiet when we visited and there was ample seating both inside and out. The girls serving were very friendly and efficient.

This time we came on a Tuesday & Debbie and the team looked after us, and what can I say but what a wonderful experience we had. Service was friendly and they always had a smile, & the drinks/ food came out promptly. They were very attentive asking us constantly if we were ok & was there anything else we'd like. We had sandwiches & huge scones (which were delicious!). Debbie said if we wanted more of anything we only had to ask. They went out of their way to make it special for my friend by putting banners up & binging out a chocolate with candle on singing happy birthday. I would have liked some petit fours or cake too which is quite usual for afternoon tea. We were given a special price which was good however I probably wouldn't pay the usual price of £20 per head especially with just sandwiches & scones! I would highly recommend this cafe especially on a Tuesday or Thursday when Debbie works!

To compensate they gave us a good discounted price which was a really lovely gesture & have offered us free tea's & coffee's on a return visit. The surroundings our nice & there is an outside seating area for warmer days. The cakes are all homemade & look delicious, I am trying it again I a few weeks for a friends birthday & hopefully they service will be better as there are only 8 of us! I would recommend this cafe

This was our second visit to the Chocolate Cafe and can't fault it. From a cuppa and cake to a meal, the menu is great with lots of choice. Today was a Tuesday afternoon and we were very well looked after by two lovely ladies. Thank you - we'll be visiting again and would happily recommend to friends and family.

My son and I had lunch here earlier this week and I wondered if we had got the wrong place as I couldn't see any reference to chocolate anywhere. Upon leaving I looked at the menu again and lifted up the first page which was on a clipboard (very large paper) to find the hot chocolate menu underneath! The selection looked great but wasn't advertised anywhere that I could see in the café which was such a shame. Our lunch was ok. I would maybe go back in the winter to try a hot chocolate. The staff were polite but a bit distant.

Had a lovely lunch today (Sunday) at the Chocolate Cafe. We were served by a very friendly and helpful lead member of staff, and they all seemed very tolerant of small children - they even have colouring books, crayons, and dominoes to play with whilst waiting to be served. The lunches were perfectly fine, and though quite standard (jackets, sandwiches etc) they do offer gluten free bread and the all day breakfasts went down especially well. The cakes and ice creams were the highlight :-) Our one suggestion for improvement (in fact this is a request) was to keep the gluten free cake on a separate plate from other cakes - it's not gluten free otherwise!

We frequent the Henley cafe and previously Windsor before it closed over a year ago. Famed for their awesome cakes made by an amazing sous chef and extensive hot choc menu we had to visit their latest addition.

Absolutely terrible. Held our daughter's birthday party there. Were promised enough pizza and chips as party tea to feed all the kids. We were given 3 pizzas (9 inch) to feed 11 nine year olds. After 5 minutes everything was gone and the kids were still hungry. We were told that was all they would give but eventually they brought out 3 more pizzas 1/2 hour later and were told that we would have to pay extra for it (in front of guests!). Also children complained that the dessert wasn't nice. Not the best birthday party she's had by a long shot!

Incredibly friendly staff and very well prepared food. Even on a busy Sunday it felt relaxed and comfortable. 😊

This place has been taken over recently and is now called the chocolate cafe. My first visit a few weeks ago went well and I returned with 2 other friends for lunch. The friendly owner brought us our lunches and we complimented her on the varied menu, she told us that she also had another cafe by the river in Henley and told us that all the cakes displayed were home made. The food was lovely, so were the lattes, so we stayed on as it was a lovely sunny day sitting outside in the quadrangle area and ordered cakes and tea at the till. The cakes looked scrumptious.

I visited with my parents and had what was probably one of the best Full English Breakfasts I've ever had. All of the produce is locally sourced and cooked perfectly. The range of cakes is amazing and they are all delicious! Service was friendly and very prompt... My parents' were being served their drinks before I'd even finished paying. Wonderful place and will definitely be returning!

Really disappointing. Terrible service. Nobody seemed to know what they were doing. It's called 'The Chocolate Cafe' and what an opportunity to have a hot chocolate menu, a range of chocolate milkshakes/brownies etc but instead there was one chocolate cake on display and little else that looked chocolatey. Shame. Disappointing.

We've been going to the chocolate cafe in Henley for a few years now - it is one of our favourite places! Brilliant choice of food and great quality too.

Great place Much improved Lovely new landlords Would never have gone here before due to it's reputation but heard it was refurbished and had clean beer and glasses and no longer full of unsociable types. A credit to Wokingham If they can get a menu going it will be the making of the place. Regardless, a good place for a drink and a game of pool now.

Have been many times, food usually very good. Waitress Kaya was lovely - friendly & helpful. Only down side the 'wine offer' we were using did not include my preferred dry rose so we had a dry white instead.

My wife and I saw an advert on our local community group saying this establishment was doing very good fish and chips for take away. On the group site people were saying this cost £7:50 each for fish&chips but you had to order in advance. My wife wife placed an order and on the other end of the phone it sounded like an old lady taking the order, she was very abrupt and wasn’t listening to what was being asked and just kept talking over what my wife was trying to ask. Anyway we eventually placed our order. When we arrived to pick it up my wife went into the side entrance and went to pay, the old lady was quite rude and said it was £8:50 each, when my wife said that on the local page it everyone was saying £7:50. She just brushed it off and said she didn’t know about that, my wife only had £15 in cash and as we had only ordered for 2 this is all she had. There were dogs running around the area as well not very hygienic. The price appears to change depending on who you are as my wife went back to the local group and the members are still saying they pay £7:50. First and last time using this pub takeaway the fish and chips were a small portion for the price.

Lovely place, looks fab since the refurb, amazing outdoor space, so much seating areas. Staff were friendly and welcoming, only reason I have given 3 star is because myself and my husband ordered the tex mex sharer which was supposed to have sweet chilli sauce but instead came drizzled with the ipa hot sauce meaning my husband who dislikes spicy food couldn't eat it. We did check the menu which definatley stated sweet chilli sauce. Unfortunatley we didn't have time to send back and reorder as it was a quick stop half way through a long journey and we needed to move on to avoid bad traffic. Other than that small disappointment the place is lovely and we would still return.
