food was banging top notch service was a wee bit slow but the atmosphere was welcoming the whole restaurant/Bar was cold when we arrived asked for heating to be put on not sure it was the only blot on a great lunch would come back if the heating was on and the room was warmer

booked last minute for Sunday roast. very welcoming and lovely atmosphere. Sunday roast was excellent we will definitely book again.

The food, when it came , was pretty good but the wait for our courses was greater than we expected. We couldn'r say whether this was because of the wait staff or an overrun kitchen, but the management did not seem particularly aware of it, or if they did, were not much concerned

Throughly enjoyed our day out at the Grandison, staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, food was great with some creative menu options, took me a while to decide what to choose. Will definately be returning.

25feb2025 underwhelming:. Pre booked ... at the end of our meal delivered with excessive waiting, we learned the pub has been under new management for 2weeks. The entire experience was poor with apologies from staff who seemed demotivated, menu items inaccurate/ unavailable, bar shortages,.... We visited on strong personal recommendation but clearly the new regime is running under par. ...

We had fabulous meal hear today. One best I’ve. Had in long time only down side to our visit was very cold. In there. Slow service on the drinks. We will definitely return. For the the fabulous food.

Exceptionally slow service, unremarkable food. Wouldn't recommend or return

I went as I was supposed to meet a friend, who got the date wrong! However I thought Im here now I will have some lunch. Orderd a small fish and chips, it was excellent. Loveley light batter and home made triple cooked chunky chips. The barman was very friendly, we have booked again in March. Highly recommend.

Sunday roast was lovely but unfortunately the service was poor and I had to get up three times to go to the bar to remind staff of requests such as water for the table, extra gravy and dessert menus. We were just left.... a real shame

Having previously enjoyed 2 excellent meals at The Grandison, I had high hopes for the 3rd. Unfortunately the overall experience was not great; the Sunday Roast was not hot and disappointing in quality and quantity in comparison to the previous occasions. No horseradish to accompany the beef ~ it was still early in their sittings so had not adequately prepared. It was incredibly busy and the staff were trying very hard to keep on top of food and drink. Not sure if they had over-committed on the number of covers or perhaps they needed more experienced staff; paid £60 for an 'ok' meal.

We chose the 2 course menu and were not disappointed food was great? As was service. Would highly recommend.

My wife and I visited today for a Sunday meal, upon arrival a customer was having a heated debate with a staff member about finding bacon in a veg dish! The customer was clearly upset, however the very young employee didn’t seem to know enough to deal with it and looked out of his depth! Perhaps it was a veggi replacement product, who knows but not a great arrival for us. We were seated and our waiter was pleasant. We ordered drinks, a bottle of white wine, however, a part filled bottle was delivered to our table in an ice bucket that had been used to serve glasses at the bar (a first for me)! Without hassle it was changed for a sealed new bottle and apologies made. Food started to arrive all was good, the food was delicious and to a high standard, I ordered a 2nd pint of Guinness that didn’t arrive so I needed to ask again! It then came (its the little things, and they added up). The staff generally seemed nice but clearly no direction from an experienced manager! they where all young and inexperienced but where doing there best and worked hard under the circumstances. I didn’t like the fact at the end before we paid our waiter was behind the bar swallowing from a pint of beer like he had a thirst to quench in full view of the seating area, non alcohol or not that just didn’t look right to me, bad form! The bill came and had 10% added for service, I asked for it to be reduced to 5% for obvious reasons! Not unfair considering, it’s too pricey so we expected better. We got a treat at the end by realising that Kim Wilde was on a table at the end of the bar with other people!! Nice surprise. Overall the food is excellent but the running of the place appears a shambles! Not sure we’d visit again, sadly….

What a wonderful find! Jonny Caribou and I were on a wildlife adventure, trying to get photos of the Hawfinches in St Andrew's church. We decided to try the local, i.e. The Grandison, for lunch. JC had the haddock and chips - crispy, beautiful, gluten-free batter, with thrice-cooked chips. I had the pan-fried hake with sautéed potatoes, samphire and a curry "broth." Both main meals were delicious, but what really got our vote was the pudding. Sticky toffee pudding, with clotted cream, honeycomb crunch and a raisin and apple syrup. To die for! Also need to give a shout out to Kyle, who greeted us and was our main server, and the lovely lad who brought the food (unfortunately, didn't get his name 😢.) At £70 for 2 x mains, 1 x pudding, 4 x drinks plus a 20% tip (well deserved) I thought it was very well priced. Will be returning again soon, this time with Benji the dog!

This was our first visit to the Grandison which had been recommended by a friend . We weren’t disappointed . All the food was cooked from scratch & there was a very good value two & three course set menu as well as a main menu. The service was attentive and helpful .

We really enjoyed our lunch at The Grandison. The food was superb as was the service. We all (there were four of us) really enjoyed the menu choices too: something for everyone but clearly cooked to order too.

Great chef - the food was excellent and the front of house staff friendly and efficient. We took friends with us and they, too, were impressed with the quallity of food and the overall ambience. We will definitely go there again.

A good experience, and very dog friendly

Took our son, Daughter-in-law and teo grandchildren for Sunday lunch. The food was of an excellent standard, the roasts being particularly good. The staff were good, attentive without being a nuisance.

Booked for 28th December 2024 after doing a search for dog friendly pubs. The staff were attentive, menu looked good and the food outstanding. Best pub food we have all had in a long time, I’d recommend the Steak and Guinness Pie. Deserts were also great. The dog was very welcome too. Will definitely be back again

Popped in for a drink one Sunday. The place was empty and it was a was a cold day. There was no fire, the walls are painted white and the lighting is bright. Cosy it was not. Sitting on faux leather seats, it had all the charm of drinking in a doctor’s waiting room. Years ago it was a cosy pub, but no longer. We didn’t stay.

9 of us had our Christmas Lunch here last week and we were all most impressed. The atmosphere and decor were lovely and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Service was excellent and the food plentiful and delicious. i wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Grandison and will definitely visit again.

Just to say if you want great food and service you must go here.Six of us met for an evening xmas set meal and we all thought it was perfect. 3 of us had starters and 3 had desserts all tasted amazing. Couldn't fault anything and my husband even had an extra dessert because it was so delicious. Will definitely return soon. 10 out of 10 for quality food,ambience and staff attention. High quality food. Portion size moderate. Broad wine list. Good, quick service. Fine decoration, contemporary style. Bathrooms spotless. Village location. Prices reflect the expected income of the local area: 1 starter, 2 mains, 3 desserts, 1 glass of wine plus 10% service charge totalled GBP 70. The venue was nearly fully-booked for prime-time dinner service.

Went for a lovely meal with my family on Sunday. Unfortunately they had run out of items on the Sunday roast menu but offered plenty of alternatives. The pub was busy but still managed to offer great service with our waiter being exceptional 👍🏻 Food was delivered in great time and tasted amazing.

Outstanding quality Sunday Roast in friendly environment. From the start the staff made us feel welcome , the setting was comfortable and inviting. What made the experience memorable was the quality of everything that was on offer- the house wine was excellent, the rolled pork belly was the best I’ve had in years, I couldn’t fault the roast potatoes or veg. The home made bread and olives/olive oil/Balsamic vinegar beforehand were all extremely good. The team worked hard and had everything under control - well done guys. A great Sunday experience!

Best meal we have had in a long time. Had the Steak and Ale pie with creamed mash and Gravy. Absolutely unreal. 10/10 highly recommend!

We visit the Grandison fairly frequently, always very friendly, great atmosphere, food and drinks. All year round venue, cosy dining inside and great out door spaces. Good value.

Salmon dish and accompaniments were good; the pie was good too. But mashed potato was nearly cold. Dessert menu could have included a crumble or another fruit based dish?

Fabulous pub with great good value food and great service. Dogs welcome too. Sunday roasts are excellent.

Nice Sunday lunch for 3. The beef was lovely. We requested 3 sticks of crackling and was surprised when additional charge was applied! The chicken was had to much seasoning on it.

Lovely lunch with friends after a 5 mile walk round Bramfield Woods. Pub more food than bar and lunch menu was a little gastro, but good quality and well presented. Lovely outside seating if weather nice. Would go back but probably sunny evening.

Beware: this place isn't as dog friendly as its website boasts. Booked for lunch and when I got there I was told there was no space in the dog friendly bar and we couldn't go on the empty snug. Disappointing.

We visited the Grandison on the 3rd September, the food was the best we have had at the Grandison and was excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly - recommended

We arrived 15 minutes late for which I apologised. There then followed a strange performance of moving, cleaning and laying our table. It was as if we were not expected or perhaps even welcome. The lady in charge made no effort to engage with us. This was a pity as the food, especially the fishcakes was excellent.

I would highly recommend The Grandison we have eaten at a number of hotels in the area and this has been by far the best. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, the service is friendly and all the eating areas are bright and clean without compromising the historic architecture.

Right, so me and the Doris went down here as it used to be be unreal, hadn’t been in a while so thought we’d try it out again. When we were appalled as I could’ve made a better on at home via a kettle. Disappointing and won’t be returning. Joke.

Fantastic lunch at the Grandison. A small menu but perfectly executed. We both had roasts on a Sunday and the food was great. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The brioche bread and butter pudding and biscoff cheesecake were spot on. Would definitely recommend a visit

Wow. A little place of heaven tucked away in a beautiful village. I live fairly local and cannot believe I have never been here until today. Came for lunch with a friend and was seriously one of the most memorable lunches had. The premises are so clean, bright modern but yet old beautifully decorated. The staff were young but were so attentive and lovely. Now for the food. Wow. Ok I had a fish finger wrap but my god it was amazing, really fresh and was the best I’ve had. My friend had the calamari and some vegetarian food which was brought out looking amazing and his comment was the best pesto he had ever had. So glad we found this little treasure tucked away in a beautiful village. Will definitely be returning soon.

Went out for lunch with my parents and young baby in a pram for my mothers birthday 16/08. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who could not do more to make sure the baby had enough shade while sitting outside. Super speedy food of really high quality! Great calm family atmosphere. Highlight of the lunch was when my Mum cheekily asked one of the young waiters (unsure of his name but he said he normally works in the kitchen) to sing her happy birthday, which he very sweetly started singing to her! Would recommend and will definitely be going back.

All good, but food portions seemed smaller than our previous visit (cajun chicken wrap). Toilets very clean, as was the whole place.

Me and a my family came to this restaurant yesterday for a Sunday roast to find out that there were no roasts left, there were a few tables after us so we can’t have been the only ones. They also ran out of bread which meant we couldn’t have half of the starters on the menu, it doesn’t stop there, they had run out of 2 other main meals aswell, extremely disappointing. I understand we came towards the end of the lunch but what I don’t understand is how a restaurant can run out of 70% of the menu, especially roasts considering that’s what most people have gone there to eat. Even if there was roasts there was only two to choose from, there are many other places to go with more options. I don’t feel like gambling on whether or not I’ll get a roast, won’t be returning because of this. But overall service was brilliant, good selection of drinks just don’t recommend coming around the last hour of service.

Only popped in for a pint, while out on a cycle ride. The pint was perfect. Sat in the rear garden, and it was so peaceful. Reasonable prices and served by friendly staff. The interior and exterior is ready clean and tidy. Will be coming back again for food. Highly recommend!!

We felt ignored by serving staff. They were fine when actually serving.

Food was OK but not memorable and does not warrant a revisit especially as there a large number of better options in the area. The one star for atmosphere is down to radio 1 being played on the music system in the pub while the average age (ish) of the dozen or so customers was 65!!

We hired out the Restaurant at The Grandison for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary celebration in July 2024. The team did an amazing job - outstanding service and food for our 40 guests all contributing to a perfect celebration. Thank you!

Lovely meal at the Grandisson this evening, in their sunny comfortable and relaxing back yard, beautiful flowers and bumble bees. The starter squid was juicy and generous, fish cake and fish of the day both well cooked, tasty and well presented followed by a lovely summery strawberry creme brûlée. Service was friendly, attentive and professional, trying hard to accommodate for our (misbehaving!) dog. I don't often write a review, but wanted to share this as this lovely place deserves a second chance.

Great local pub, with a very friendly welcome and super tasty food. We hade booked a table, but were given the option of eating in the snug, bar or outside (we chose outside). The bar staff ensured we had cushions (we were the only diners at the time eating outside), and nothing was too much trouble. Special recognition and thanks must go to Tristan, who was attentive, but not in our face, engaging, and ensured we were happy with our food and drinks. Thanks

Love The Grandison. Friendly & accommodating staff in a tucked away semi rural location. Great garden seating area for when the weather permits & plenty of niches inside for an intimate or social evening. Attractive menu with decent sized portions at a reasonable cost & the best Sunday Beef roast around! A firm recommendation from me :)

Only stopped for a pint, but the pub looked immaculate and the beer was good 👍

Almost every dish had garlic in it - including chicken burgers and beef burgers making the menu very limited for allergies.

I came back to the Grandison due to quality of the food. Bought my parents and we had a delicious meal, thank you.

We've been here a few times now and are always very happy with the food & service. It might not be the cheapest but it merits the small premium with the quality of the food. The vegetables are done just right and the fish is always flaky and fresh. The dog likes it here too with a walk through the woods on their doorstep although we make sure that he is kept out of the way in the restaurant.
