Fantastic place for Sunday lunch!

Such an amazing place - the pie and the rib eye steak are absolutely astonishing. The service is fantastic as well.

Fantastic night for my Husbands 40th! Service and food was spot on! Booked again for a baby shower and small elaborate hen party in their private area, love the Maltons!

Exceptional service here - Top Noch Manager, who mingles with his guests/customers. I only wish we had one in our Area. I attend for family Christening. Lovely intimate environment, classy. Compliments to all the staff and the chef. Sensational steak, wings etc Will definitely try to attend again. Loved it here...

This restaurant is fabulous with a great atmosphere, personality and service. The food was DELICIOUS! The host was extremely accommodating.

We held our daughter's Baptism celebration, with circa 100 * guests of friends and family, in July 2024. Everything went exactly to plan with warm welcomes and drinks available on arrival. Buffet foods were delish, and we definitely recommend the sausage rolls and sticky BBQ chicken - There was a lot of finger licking going on. 😋😋😋😋😋😋 It was also lovely hearing comments from our guests wax lyricaling about the venue, food and intimate service. Ali and his team, too many to name, looked after us implecibly and we'd recommend The Malton highly. Thanks Ali 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

We went to Maltons on a Saturday lunchtime to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We were a party of twelve and a mixture of ages. WOW what a great time we all had, the food was fantastic as was the service, we were so well looked after, thank you so much.

Ate at Maltons last night, a fairly large party. The food was wonderful as was the restaurant. However, the service from the staff was brusk to say the least. The waiter argued with a couple of members of the party and after giving us the bill, returned with a revised one with the service charged added. Not sure if we will return.

Booked a dinner for 14 people on a busy Saturday night to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. We had 2 round tables of 7 set up in the outside area which worked brilliantly. The manager & staff were so attentive & followed our request to pace the night out so we were not rushed. The food was amazing & the whole of our party were served at the same time. Cannot fault the night as they made it an amazing experience enjoyed by all, we will definitely be going back.

Made a reservation for a group of 25 people on a Saturday night - could not have gone any better. Service was spot on, seamless, quick and everyone was very impressed with the food. Staff were really helpful, especially Ali who went above and beyond in the preparation and throughout the evening. The private area we used was great for our event and I will definitely be returning for future events.

I/we had a group of 16 men playing Golf at Hanbury manor decided on eating at Maltons. What a great choice that was Hospitality / service and food exceptional . We held a surprise 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration at Maltons on Saturday for our parents... the evening was perfect, and better than we could have hoped for! My sister and I were particular about how we wanted the space to look as there were lots of personal touches we wanted to make. Ali was very welcoming in letting us do whatever we wanted to, he was there whenever we needed him and nothing was too much effort. Everyone commented on how lovely the food was. We had 30 guests having 3 course meals, and every sitting came out quickly and all together, the food was hot and presented beautifully. The staff were all extremely friendly and again, nothing was too much effort for them. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening at this venue. It was a beautiful surprise for our wonderful parents and the aim was to remind then of how loved and appreciated they are. Maltons certainly helped to make that happen! We will be sure to go back again soon, and would highly recommend making a visit - you won't be disappointed. Thanks again to Ali and the team, we greatly appreciate it xx

Big thanks to Ali for hosting 30+ for our corporate dinner. The service was amazing and so attentive. The communication before the event from Ali was 5 star, creating our table plans and accommodating our last minute changes! The food was incredible, my favorite being the chocolate brownie! I would recommend MALTONS as a great place to host large dinner events!

Recently hosted a lunch at Maltons for the clients of the local 'Lamborghini Hatfield' dealership. Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Ali and his team created a fantastic environment for lunch and went above and beyond to accommodate the group and make all feel welcome.

Maltons is and has been for a number of years our favourite local restaurant. We've had birthdays, Mother's Days and lots of special meals here and are always looked after well by Ali and his team. Food is amazing (I recommend the Squeaky Cheese Starter!)

Went here with my wife and daughter to share a special Valentine's Day dinner. They had the place nicely decorated and the lighting, temperature, mood, etc. was exceptional. The food, in both flavor and presentation, was nearly to the level of a 5-star restaurant. Steaks and others items perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Owner circulates among the tables and is friendly and helpful - hands on leadership. Everything we had on the menu was very tasty. Highly recommend this place - make reservations!

I’ve been to maltons many times and it’s always top tier for food. Unfortunately on this occasion it was totally below standard. The pork belly was like something you would put in a sandwich. Tasteless, small (literally 3 thinly sliced pieces), two dry roast potatoes, veg that clearly was reheated and not fresh. It’s clear that the chef has changed and they’re trying to save costs, but at £20-24 per roast dinner it’s not better than a Toby carvery. It’s a shame. Was a great place - but I wont be returning again at the prices/lack of quality they now offer. Maybe it explains why the restaurant was empty at a peak time on a Sunday.

We visited Maltons for Valentine’s Day this year because we were staying at Hanbury manor and we were not disappointed. The menu was excellent and had something for everyone. We loved every course and the service was brilliant despite the restaurant being fully booked. We will defo come back again soon as we live in Hertford:)

Interesting restaurant in Thundersley, Ware. Serves fine dining food, well presented and tasty. We were there in early December, and there were several group parties, presumably having their Christmas dinner outings. As a result, it was a bit noisy, which is not the custom in fine dining restaurants but acceptable for this time of year. Previous visits there have been much calmer, and I look forward to our next visit being likewise as the food is worth the visit.

Fantastic restaurant, they catered for 26 of us with ease. My communication with them was speedy and professional. The food and service was first rate and I highly recommend this place for any occasion. Well done to the team at Maltons as you made the evening very enjoyable.

Good service but the roast dinners were really poor. The owner doesn’t seem to take fair honest feedback very well. Will never go back.

We had a lovely New Year lunch. The owner was very attentive and the staff friendly.

Had a family dinner last night and there were 10 of us in the party. From the minute we walked in we were greeted in a warm fashion, taken to the bar for a drink whilst we waited for other family members. Upon being sat the ambience in the restaurant was lovely. Started cane promptly and the mussels were truly stunning. Main courses varied from fish and chips, to burgers and pie of the day. All dishes were utterly superb. The waitresses were all attentive without being overbearing and the manager also passed by a couple of times to ensure everything was okay. The chocolate brownie and white chocolate cheesecake were to die for dessert wise. Value for money was the icing on the cake. We will all certainly be going back.

The former Sow and Pigs has been remastered into Maltons a stylish restaurant very well run. The decor is modern F&B and very comfortable. Staff are welcoming and very well trained. Overseen by the owner, attention to detail is self evident here. The food is excellent. We had roast beef - Rare - and wqs a delicious and mouth watering tasty piece of beef with a lovely jus and perfect vegetables. Despite its up-market appearance, Maltons is well priced and offers great value. Top marks but please, rag napkins.

Ate here with friends. My main of Sea Bass was delicious. Well cooked & well presented. My friends both had a beef pie and again they both loved it. My dessert of Bread & Butter pudding however was not as good. Hardly any fruit and had been heated in a microwave, so unfortunately was an awful texture. Shame as I do love Bread & Butter pudding. Service was ok, but again lacked a bit of sparkle. Saying that, I definitely eat here again though. Hoping for better next time 🙏🏻

Absolutely the best roast dinner. Went yesterday for a friend's birthday and we were not disappointed. Crunchy toasties, puffy Yorkshires, creamy cauliflower cheese, tasty roast carrots, I had a delicious onion tart and they had beef and chicken. They were packed but the service was still good, and they were in no rush to get us to leave. Desserts were delicious also, we had bread pudding with custard, there was also a cheese board and other choices. Highly recommended.

Not really a pub. Only ale was an IPA at £5.50 a pint. Food was fine if a little expensive. We were pretty much hustled out well before closing time and the staff all left while we were all chatting in the car park

I thought this place was lovely. Onsite parking. Decent Sunday roast... Will keep it in mind for the future. Lamb could have done with a bit more seasoning but gravy was good so that made up for it. Chicken came with stuffing... would be nice if the lamb came with something too... like mint sauce or something to compliment the dish. Nice dessert selection too. The blue suited host seemed charming albeit a bit loud. Good portions and I want to come back to try more food.

I don't think I've ever felt so unwelcome in a place!

I went there yesterday. I was the only non white person in the whole restaurant. When I walked past who I think was the Manager he muttered loudly “THESE people they like to look down on you” his waitresses all nodded eagerly. I wanted to challenge this but I was part of an engagement party and the bride to be was already anxious so I bit my tongue. The waitresses bar one gave me filthy looks the whole time. If you are not white, please do not go here.

We had a most enjoyable dining experience last evening with family and friends. Our food was delicious all 3 courses were beautifully presented and quality and taste was excellent. Service and atmosphere was very good. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to a return visit to sample more of their great food. A Very enjoyable evening.

This restaurant has had concerning experiences with racism and discriminatory behavior. If you are a person of color, I would advise against visiting this place. The staff and "regular customers" have been reported as rude, and there have been instances of assault and threats towards certain individuals. Additionally, there are suspicions that the establishment may be associated with EDL (English Defence League) or attract a clientele that is insensitive or discriminatory, using derogatory terms. Considering these issues, I would caution others about the atmosphere and experiences reported at this restaurant.

All 5s we really enjoyed our meal. Staying at the Hanbury manor its perfectly positioned at the end of the drive to take a walk and enjoy, a good quality, reasonable priced meal. We arrived early, exactly at opening time and were greeted by a friendly manager. Working with his staff they provide very efficient service, the kitchen produced nicely plated food. I like a short menu because one can be pretty confident the chef has chosen his best dishes, it also makes the choice easier. Having said that there a few that we would liked to try bit had to settle on one. Highly recommended. Our bill was high because we bought 2 bottles of prosecco and a bottle of red wine. All at reasonable prices.

Food was actually good. Front of house staff were doing the best they could. But.....slow, slow service. Wouldn't take orders for first 45 minutes because too stacked in the kitchen. They did throw in a bottle of red to make amends. At one point virtually no table had food and all were complaining. I think they were let down by staff on the night but 90 mins from ordering to food not too great an experience.

What a quaint place! DELICIOUS menu and really nice wine selection..the waitstaff is inviting and passionate about the amazing food here..ESPECIALLY VICKY 💛 She was VERY helpful, answered all my questions, and made sure I got everything I needed and more!! THANK YOU VICKY!! The food was EXCELLENT

Not a great place at all in my opinion, this is a very much style of substance place, the food looks great but that’s where it ends, small portions, and very very salty in some cases (the lamb!). Was a very rushed experience and three courses were completed in under an hour which didn’t add to the experience, wouldn’t recommend unless you want to upload some pretty picture

The food was absolutely beautiful. Definitely coming back with friends and family to explore more of the menu. The staff were attentive, kind and prompt.

Had a lovely evening meal at the Maltons. Was seated quickly. We had our order taken and was served in a timely manner from being seated at our table. The Waitress checked in on us from time to time. But not too often as that can become a bit much in some restaurants. We was asked if we needed more drinks or if we needed anything more throughout the night. The food was very tasty. Definitely worth the visit!

Food was good, adult potions were generous but the kids portions were shockingly small... Service was average.

I hosted a party of four. My dishes were well prepared, well presented and of good size but would have benefited from more seasoning. The Ribeye steak of one of my guests was perfectly cooked but served lukewarm. The burger of another of my guests was badly overcooked. The service was a little distant and cold

Pros: Lovely food and a clean and well presented restaurant. The young brunette waitress serving us was very polite and attentive. Cons: the manager was very abrupt, was telling off his staff in front of guests, and rushing around like a headless chicken. It was very unprofessional and this did dampen our experience. As a result, we wouldn't visit this restaurant again and I hope that the young girl is treated with more respect from her boss (and team mate who was ordering her around) moving forwards.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch , roast beef was excellent. However it is expensive for a roast and whilst service was fairly quick and somewhat attentive , you are served by young girls who were totally disinterested with no personality and very unfriendly. Should be trained in customer interaction which would make this a more enjoyable experience.

Went on a Saturday not crowded due to weather. Service good as was all the varied meals chosen .The girls enjoyed the different cocktails ordered. My but is the Sea Bass just ONE fillet on the plate with far too many lentils. Although again cooked really well.

Everything was perfect ، the truffle pasta was excellent .

We booked for Christmas Day, and I realised I’ve not heard anything from them in relation to changing the time. I contacted them to discover they had cancelled our booking without telling me, and they now didn’t have any space. The owner, Ali, rang me and was immediately rude and aggressive in his tone. He constantly spoke over me, and was very unapologetic. He would not listen to anything is had to say or ask, and just blamed me for the whole situation. He then hung up the phone because my baby started crying. I was so shocked by the way I had just been spoken to, I wrote a complaint to the restaurant. The owner, Ali, again emailed me back. His response was interesting, again rude and unapologetic. He basically Told me that there was no resolution as he wouldn’t want me to cause an atmosphere amongst his staff and to make other customers feel uncomfortable. I was extremely offended that he would even suggest I would behave in this way and treat people like this. I am shocked that an owner can run a restaurant in this way and he has no idea how to speak and deal with people. Very unprofessional, rude and arrogant.

Not as we remembered. Lots of options but not much choice if vegan/vegetarian. Very pressurised service so not a relaxing experience. 3 course meal with wine all done in an hour but lots of table space free. Shame as we wanted somewhere special for our anniversary. Very disappointing

More restaurant than pub. Food was excellent; service was good and friendly, and overall a very pleasant early evening meal with our children. But the decor and atmosphere were quite bland (@ 6.00 on Saturday evening). Also, music was verging on verging on being too loud, but I am sensitive to background noise so it will probably be fine most people.

Great gastro pub in a nice quiet location. Food was delicious and as you can see from my pics, very good portions of high quality food.

Lovely atmosphere and helpful staff. I was there as it was my Granddaughters Baby shower. We had a room covered outside of the main dining areas. Had typical Sunday roast. I had forerib of beef with roast potatoes vegetables and I have got to say it was one of the best roast dinners I have had. I had three G & T'S AND THE Meal and the bill was £47.00. Service was fantastic. Some of the girls had the chicken and there again They said how fabulous it was. There were other meals on the menu including Vegetarian. I would definately visit again.

We was here on Saturday(3/9/22) with friends and must say we had a lovely meal. Waiting times were a little long but they were really busy (looked like a full house) and maybe a little short staff, but saying that the waitresses worked really hard and deserved their tips. The food was perfect, could not fault it. All three courses. Both the staff and owner were apologising for the delays but these things can't be helped. No apology nessary in my opinion. Definitely going back again. Hopefully very soon . A big thank you too all involved.

Booked last minute as we are so unorganised. Absolutely stunning meal for all 4 of us. I personally had the roast, best roast ever. My husband and son had the burgers and loved them and same for my daughter who had the fish!! Desert also did not disappoint beautiful 😍 great service!
