Fantastic!!! We had the roast of the day with 2 choices of meat and what we got was the best I have had from many places we have visited. The price is great and just could not fault anything. Ok, it's a small place so you cannot have many staff, and I did notice how rude customers where because they could not have service there and now, all I would say to them is go to a fast service facility and eat crap!!! Well done for what they do in such a small place. It's great and will be going back again and again. Thank you.

This was our first visit after recently moving to the area and unfortunately we won’t be returning. The coffee was so bitter that I couldn’t finish mine. The cake tasted nice but the sponge was really stodgy. A very disappointing visit.

This is one of our favourite places for Breakfast. We went on a Monday morning, a quiet time for them but most people are at work. We were met by a very friendly and professional lady who took our order and showed us to our table. The tea came along almost immediately, a nice big pot for the 2 of us. A few minutes later, a Full English and a Vegetarian Breakfast was on our table along with some Orange Juice. Top Quality ingredients, cooked to perfection. We do intend going back for Lunch or afternoon tea at some point, the cakes on show looked very inviting.

If you want a nice Afternoon Tea then don’t go here!! We arrived and we were told we could sit where we liked and we sat in the gazebo part. My partner asked to use the toilet and was just told ’down there’. I sat down and the table surface was very sticky but then again they all were. Had to ask the young server to clean the table which she did do. The stand with the scones, cakes and finger sandwiches was then just placed on the table. The server then went about clearing dirty crockery from other tables and I had to ask her for some plates. We then proceeded to start on the fingers sandwiches, a grand total of 4 each and some of the bread was dry. There were 2 1/8 pieces of pork pies and what appeared to be 2x 1/4 of a sausage roll. Both were extremely dry and the pastry was hard and didn’t manage to eat all of them. We then started on the small cakes which looked like they had sat on display for a long time. 3 of them were very stodgy chocolate ones. The 2 scones looked very nice but again were dry and crusty on the outside. There was no butter just a small jar of jam and a pot of well known clotted cream. They did bring out 2 pieces of chocolate cake which we were told goes with it. As this was a birthday treat for me reaching 70 I was extremely disappointed and I can honestly say this was the WORSE afternoon tea I’ve ever had. The only saving grace was the tea was hot and we had a second pot to wash the dry food down. To cap it off the floor had snail trails over it along with crumbs etc from previous customers. My suggestion to the owners would be to go and look at other establishments offering afternoon tea and see how it is done properly. Will never recommend this place.

We only see our family occasionally as they are all very busy either trying to cope with ever increasing costs and long working hours or, in the case of the grandchildren, having a break from important school examinations. So, when they do visit us we like to indulge them. This Sunday we asked our oldest grandchild where he would like to go for lunch before returning to London. Despite being able to go anywhere locally he chose the ‘The Granary’ at Scotsman Lodge between Ufford and Marholm. In the past we have been very pleased with both the service and food here but today was a disaster. We arrived and there was only one other couple in the eating area so it was far from busy. Having sat down and waited I decided to check on whether orders were taken at the table or inside at the till. The waitress said that normally we would be expected to order at the till. I had said that was fine but as there was 6 of us I would need a bit of paper and a pencil to write down the order. Eventually she agreed to take the order at the table. The order included 3 pork bab and chips with salad, a Halloumi cheese with salad and an ‘off menu days special’ item that came with salad for my daughter. The youngest grandchild opted for a scone with jam and cream. In addition, we had 4 teas and a diet coke. When the order arrived, the pork was extremely fatty, the salad (in all the dishes) was sad and the chips looked as if they had been around for a while. My wife’s halloumi salad was minimal (certainly for £9) and my daughter was too polite to comment her meal. The cream which accompanied my youngest grandson's scone was as hard as nails and his mother has to try and make it easier to use. Apart from one, the staff were sullen and when paying at the till at the end of meal I remarked on how sullen a particular staff member was, I was told she had not been there long and was a bit shy. The meal itself came to £64.15 which under normal circumstances in today’s climate would not have been unreasonable but the standard of food put before us was not up to scratch. It will be some time before we return ‘The Granary’ on the Marholm road on a Sunday.

The Granary tea room has good views over the fields. However we were very disappointed, the tea rooms had no ambience, and when we were there the floors needed a good clean as did some of the tables. Chairs and high chairs stacked at one side. Looked very unloved. Only one member of staff who initially served us like warm chocolate, which we took back to be reheated. Fruit scone was OK. Won't be going back in a hurry.

We were warned by our friends that the place has gone down hill but unfortunately we didn't take their advice and went anyway. Sadly we found the staff to be very rude on several occasions, we didn't have any specific or special requests but everything seemed too much trouble for them. The table next door adviced us as we sat down, I do wish we took their advice. Very very long wait just to place an order and even longer to wait for food ( over an hour ). Sadly I would advise to avoid this place at all costs.

One star for the tea served. No stars for the tasteless decaffeinated oat latte, or the GF brownies, or the mismatched crockery, or the untrained waitress, or the 1980s pine furniture, or the dirty tables, or the cane furniture nabbed from my granny's conservatory all served in the squeaking, creaking gazebo/extension. Usually I'd let the cafe know if there were issues with my visit but there were so many and telling the waitress or the "chef" on duty would really have been pointless. My advice is to do yourself a favour and keep your £9.90 in your pocket for a couple of drinks and a couple of cakes. I hope the owner reads this and buys some new furniture and some new crockery, gives their staff some training (in taking orders, serving and clearing/cleaning tables) and reduces the prices to something more realistic.

This cafe/ restaurant is in a lovely setting overlooking rural countryside, with a choice of local walks as well and a farm shop selling locally produced meat, eggs, cheeses etc. There is also a small area selling good range of plants, trees, pots and compost. Staff there really helpful. In the cafe I tried to order two cream teas, asking for one with coffee, initially told this would be extra. Having sorted that out asked for Earl Grey tea, warm scones and blackcurrant jam. Initially wrong tea arrived which was changed, but no lemons ... and scones were cold!! They were tasty however and enjoyed the cream and jam with them. Paid the bill and thankfully asked for a receipt. Then went to see farm shop. Few minutes later one of the waitress came out and said I had not paid. Thankfully had my receipt so was able to show I had paid. Felt this was all a bit disappointing...it could of been a great experience.

The café tent awning is large and secure but very drafty, which is good for Covid security as there's plenty of ventilation, but it is cold as there's no heating. Went for coffee and cake. Asked for vegan cakes, explained my child is anaphylactic to dairy and eggs. They recommended a carrot cake which they said was made only of sugar, flour, oil and carrot and the buttercream made of margarine. I said several times that it needed to be dairy and egg free to make 100% sure. She went off to get them but my gut feeling was that it wasn’t safe or it’d be labelled vegan, so I went and checked the label and it very clearly said it contained eggs. Even though I’d said he had an egg allergy she STILL asked if he wanted it. If I’d taken her word for it we’d have been straight to A&E. In this day and age places serving food have no excuse for not understanding allergies and have a responsibility to be safe

We visited the Granary Tea Rooms early September and had booked for Sunday lunch. We were two branches of a family meeting half way for a reunion . As I am coeliac ( gluten free ) I had emailed prior to booking and nothing was too much trouble for Jo and her team .The weather was lovely which certainly helped and the benches and tables in the marquee were set out in line with social distancing . Most of us had the roast beef Sunday lunch which was plentiful and well cooked . My own had extra veg to compensate for lack of Yorkshire pudding and even the gravy base was shown to me prior to my dinner arriving so I could check the ingredients. A selection of cold drinks were available with the meal . Puddings followed and there was a selection of homemade plum crumble , treacle sponge , ice cream and chocolate brownie , the last being gluten free . Again jo checked with me what I could have with it and their stocked tubs of ice cream were also suitable . All puds were enjoyed thoroughly . The bill was reasonable averaging around £12 a head for two courses and after a walk we finished the afternoon with a cup of tea before leaving . We would certainly visit again , the farm and tea room had a lovely unhurried pace which suited us as there was much news to be shared . There also seemed to be a number of families enjoying a Sunday afternoon treat before school started the following week. Only negative was just one toilet available and although it was clean it was not well signposted . For any coeliacs reading this the proof of the meal is often the following day - no ill effects are all! Always worth contacting a venue before arriving when having dietary needs snd on this occasion the Granary did not disappoint.

My wife and I cycled out Willow brook farm today as we wanted a nice light lunch. The ordering process went all ok. We ordered 2 ham and cheese toasties with salad, one with chips and two teas. We were told that the order would take a little time. We accepted this but had no idea that they meant we had to wait for 55 minutes before the food and drink arrived! Both toasted sandwiches had been in for less than 2 minutes they were not hot and the cheese was not melted. My toastie had huge amounts of ham fat in which I hate. The chips were 8 in number and again were barely warm. The salad was awash with water and in fact the water actually turned the paper plate into a mash. The teas were delivered without milk, when they were delivered, we asked for milk, but was never brought to us. We had to go and ask again for milk. We put the milk into the tea and started to drink it only to find that it was Earl Grey, which we didn’t order and do not like. We tried to complain but there was no one there to take responsibility and to action our complaint. It’s a real shame as this is a nice place and is let down by very poor management. Everyone wants you to support local business but when the management lets down the business and the workers what can guide do?!

We dropped by for a quick take away lunch on Sunday. There were only a couple of customers ahead of us in the queue. It took so long for our order (i.e., hamburger with chips and a jumbo hotdog) to be ready, taking nearly 1 hour.We were very disappointed with the food served. The burger was chewy, smelled/tasted bad and salty. Clearly a recycled steak from the butcher counter that had turned dark as it hadn't sold so they passed it to the cafe. The jumbo hotdog was nothing to do with a hotdog, it was just two sausages cut in half and a couple of strings of burnt onion in a normal table roll. We've found that both the burger and the hotdog we had at a van at B&Q were much better in quality and value. We expected the food to be freshly made with the fresh meat available at a counter at a farm shop next to it and cooked on charcoal or some such thing after the long wait, however, it was an inedible abomination. We want to support our local farmers but the service and food was a total lack of respect for our support.

This place is normally mine and my family’s go to place but I visited today for breakfast and wow what a let down. I know things are different due to Covid but this place is now not an enjoyable experience and the most unusual dining experience I’ve had throughout the whole of Covid. The woman who served us was plain rude , we asked for tap water for our five year old son and she looked at me like I’d ordered the tears of Jesus and just said no and said If I want water buy it. We sat down to eat the breakfast and was sipping a cup of tea and she shouts from across the way put on your mask and il bring your food. We had to ask if she was bellowing at us! We were sat down on the table drinking our tea! the food arrived in tin foil - a full English breakfast all merged together in tin foil. We had to ask for cutlery in which she shouted stay sat down . Honestly - what a let down gone from my favorite place to the worst service and completely different to anywhere We have ever been during covid . Don’t go at the moment avoid this place . Visited the Granary several times since lock down was lifted. Their breakfast are really good with a varied menu to cover most appetites. Sitting in their field with wooden benches and their set up and hygiene measures were great, out in the sunshine and looking at the views over the fields was a real treat. I hope when winter arrives they can expand their indoor arrangements, as it will be a shame not to go, or not be able to get booked in. The farm shop and veg arrangements were again, really inventive. Well done Willowbrook staff

The food I ordered had an accompanying pot of butter, the butter looked like it had been scooped from a larger container, there were food remnants in the butter!

Stopped off here to break up our journey. A small friendly place. The food was good, and home cooked. Nothing fancy, but delicious especially the apple and damson crumble. The service was a bit slow (there is a sign saying there may be delays at busy times) and slightly haphazard e.g. my mother wasn't served what she'd chosen and the order for the couple on the next table went missing. All part of the charm if you're not in a hurry. There's also a small but good farm shop here.

Dropped in last Sunday afternoon for drink and a sandwich. We ordered a cheese and ham toastie with chips, a baked potato and a small ham sandwich for our daughter (3). The food arrived promptly, the baked potato whilst not massive was ok, well cooked and served with a dressed salad. Our daughter had a ham sandwich which was a single slice of shop brought white loaf with ham inside. We had no problem with the size as we ordered a children's sandwich, however it looked rather sorry sitting on a plate on its own with no side salad, even a few crisps would have helped. My toasted sandwich would have been better described as ham and cheese on toast. The cheese rather than being melted wasn't even warm which was disappointing. Chips where chunky but very dry. The overall experience was ok, don't go there though expecting a proper farm house feed as I would call it with ingredients off the farm, chunky bread etc. Instead you get basic food at a reasonable price. We will go again but this time keep away for the toasties.

I've stopped here before for coffee and cake whilst on a bike ride so, after my wife finished work I thought I'd take her for a bite to eat as its nearby. I didnt fancy savoury so had appke and damson crumble and she had a ham and cheese tiasted sandwich which should have been served with salad and tomatoes. The food took quite some time to arrive in which time we'd both drunk two cups of tea. Service was slow but polite and the food was ok. Not in a rush to go back as there are better places just a little further away but will call again for a drink on my bike rides in future.

Our recent, second visit here for a Sunday lunch was as good as expected. However, it's not "fine dining" and the roast beef was not carved off the joint, which you might expect. The service is informal but efficient and the accommodation is basic but acceptable. Home cooking and a wide menu.

The people working in the cafe need to go on a customer service course. My Partner and I waited for ten minutes to be attended to and our order taken . The tea room was NOT busy.. To help things along I went to the counter to place our order only to be told to sit down again and the server will take your order. Another ten minutes passed , the server who had better things to do than A) clear tables of glasses/plates B) take customer orders ambled about oblivious to us who had our menus opened and ready to order. So in the end I told him we were going and moved on . We won't be going back , I understand that the food is good , but customer service is also important as well.

We stopped for lunch and placed our order. When it arrived the fried egg bap I ordered had been replaced by a very over cooked fried egg (hard) in between two slices of white bread. The egg filled just half the bread and was so hard it was unpleasant to eat, and at £3.95 well over priced. At no time was I advised they had no baps left! My partner and son ordered a toasted sandwich each. We ordered two cups of tea and a tap water. When we came to pay we were issued with a bill for over £21! When questioned, we were told the toasties were £5.95 each, despite the menu stating they were £3.49. There was no apology from the member of staff who begrudgingly adjusted our bill to just over £16. A £5 over-charge! Service was painfully slow and when the error was highlighted to the member of staff taking the money, discourteous and unconcerned. This was our first and last visit. Unfortunately The Granary fell well short of expectations.

Called in for lunch my wife ordered "Ham EGG and chips" and I ordered "Cottage Pie with Vegetables". I received my cottage pie, which was alright, though a bit dry, my wife got Ham and Chips. After managing to attract the waitress attention it was sent back to have TWO eggs added as described in the menu! After another long wait, in which time I had finished the Cottage Pie, it arrived back with only ONE egg added, as we didn't have time to wait for another egg she accepted it as it was, even though she said that it was two eggs when they collected her plate, but I don't think that either the waitress or waiter were listening. They seemed to have a couldn't care less attitude, customers were a bit of a nuisance to them. This was further born out when we decided to have a slice of chocolate swiss roll, which was already cut on a plate on the counter, this was taken away into the kitchen and after about five minutes a slice had been placed on a plate and brought to us. We then had a wait to pay the girl on the till appeared with her coat on, she had obviously been outside, went into the kitchen and a few minutes later went to a cupboard to hang her coat up and eventually came to take our money. Although the food was reasonable we will not be returning.

We have been using the Farm Shop next door and always found the meat to be excellent. Until now however we have never been in the Granary but this was the day we were to give the Granary a go. We knew about the tables outside with a glorious view but as there was a slight nip in the air we opted to go inside. The building is built of stone and this is reflected inside with a few pictures on the wall. There is a mixture of tables for 2 or 4. Bigger party's are catered for by rearranging the furniture. The room is bright with a row of full length glass doors overlooking the view outside. We found ourselves a table and within a couple of minutes our waitress came over with the menus. We both opted for the Granery breakfast although I wanted to go for the larger version. Other breakfast options included Scrambled egg on toast as well as breakfast baps. As it was a Sunday there was a roast dinner on the blackboard planned for later or in the menu for later delights such as Lasagne, Shepards Pie,basically the sort of thing you would eat at home. We did not see the pudding menu.Breakfast arrived, perfectly cooked with a pot of tea to wash it down. Having wanted to go for the larger breakfast option I am glad I stuck with the standard version as this left me feeling content rather than over full. The Granary is not posh place to eat but it is certainly not a Transport cafe. We shall certainly make use of the Granary every time we go to the farm shop next door weather it's for Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch or an afternoon Tea.

I had known about this place from friends who go with their walking group and was keen to visit myself when a friend suggested going last weekend for Sunday lunch. I was certainly not disappointed. It was a nice sunny day and we arrived to find people sitting outside having coffee/tea and lunchtime snacks. Inside, it was quite small but very welcoming with pine furniture, quite busy but fortunately a table was free. I would book another time! The staff were all extremely friendly and when we ordered we were told to expect a little wait due to them having taken a large number of orders at the same time. I think we waited about 20 mins during which time we had drinks and chatted and it wasn't a problem. We both enjoyed an absolutely delicious roast beef meal with roast potatoes, three veg and a Yorkshire pudding - nothing pretentious, just a lovely plate of food that you would be proud to serve at home. The beef melted in my mouth! We enjoyed a lovely pot of tea after our meal, served beautifully in a large white teapot. We paid our very modest bill, and once again received apologies for having to wait for our food. In conclusion, I can't wait to go again and I have booked to take a friend for a mid-week lunch next week!

My niece and I dropped in here for a late lunch after a horsey shopping trip to Barnack. Absolutely famished we were relieved to find they were still serving. The friendly waitress rapidly served us two breakfast rolls (you choose 1 or 2 items from the breakfast menu which they serve in a crusty roll) and I got in a predictable pickle having selected a fried egg and sausage bap! It was a cold and drizzly day so we absolutely had to try the selection of hot puddings that were on offer. There are a range of options on the menu from filling lunches through to light snacks and cakes. Drinks wise in addition to the usual tea and coffee you can have a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows (obviously we had to sample these!) or choose from a selection of cold soft drinks. We will definitely be visiting again.

Have been to eat here on 2 occasions now, first time was in March when I kept hearing their advert on the radio, I thought to myself, "Well there's a place I don't think I've been to". Was not disappointed, bought some of the farm produce in the shop first, £5.99 for quite a large fresh chicken which could be frozen plus some other food stuffs. The Granary did not disappoint either, we were quite lucky to get in as it's only a small place. I had the quiche from the specials board which was absolutely delish, very flavorsome. Was so full after that but wanted the cake off the counter so bought a slice to take home with me, it was a lovely coffee cake mmmmm. Our second visit was only a couple of weeks ago, this time we went to eat first but all the tables seemed to be reserved, luckily though we were accommodated as the people who had booked weren't arriving until 1pm and it was only 11.45am. Once again I succumbed to the quiche off the specials board, hubby had the small harvester breakfast as we knew how big the other larger one was, he enjoyed it thoroughly and so did I. We also took away 2 pieces of the lovely Victoria sponge to eat later. Think if we go again will definitely reserve a table as this place seems to be very popular. Also purchased another large chicken from the shop next door along with some eggs, pork pie, haslet, black pudding.

We called in for a family breakfast, unfortunately, due to a slower new griddle the food seemed to take ages, came separately, black pudding some time after the rest of the breakfast, and finally the toast. On requesting another cup of tea, due to the long wait, we weren't heard, despite trying. It was just lengthy and disappointing, not what we expected at breakfast. The food was fine, once it all arrived. But for the price we expected better service. Sorry.

We were able to ring and reserve a table at The Granary, to ensure that we could be seated, and it was all done very friendly and professionally and indeed when we got there the table was waiting for us with our time clearly shown on it. Three of us ordered sunday lunch and I have to say it was the best sunday roast beef I have ever tasted and the roast potatoes were lovely and crispy and to top it all off the vegetables were properly cooked, i.e. soft. The staff were very polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble, even asking for a little pot of gravy as one of us likes to drown their lunch!!!!A very reasonable price too. Will definately be visiting again and am already trying to buy the same joint of beef to see if I can achieve the same perfection.

We came here for Saturday lunch while at the farm to order the Christmas meat. The food is excellent: good home cooking served fresh and hot with a selection of wines, beers and soft drinks. It's on a farm on a heath, so a bit out of the way but if you like this kind of food it is well worth going out of your way to visit. No good being in a hurry, for this cannot be "fast food". Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and those with small appetites can be catered-for ungrudgingly. Those with large appetites will not go hungry - this is food that satisfies. We shall definitely be back.My only complaint is that as it is not on a bus route I could not sample the range of bottle-conditioned ales on sale ... although my passenger tried one and enjoyed it!

We were less fond of the cafe. The service was friendly, but the food was pretty basic. I ordered bubble and squeak, but what I got was sausage with two yorkshire puddings.
