Fair prices, delicious food, great ambience!

We booked into the granary to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. We where actually originally meant to get married at the granary but unfortunately had to change venues when our volume of guests expanded. However we went for a lovely family meal on 22 February myself my wife and our 11 year old daughter. Food was absolutely delicious with great flavours. With it happen to be a big rugby day the atmosphere was amazing. I have to say massive thank you to the staff who where very friendly and welcoming. 1 female staff member really went above and beyond. I regrettably did not get her name but she gave me and my wife a complementary glass of champagne which we thought was just such a lovely touch... We woyld certainly recommend you visit the granary you will not regret it. We will most definitely be back again soon. Thank you once again to all the staff .

I didn't want to leave Scotland without trying haggis. The vegetarian haggis was excellent, highly recommended. The location and atmosphere of the restaurant is very good.

Arrived slightly early, and waited 15 minutes past our booked time to be seated. Waited a further 45 minutes before we nagged to have our drinks and food order taken. Food arrived relatively quickly after that and was alright. No one came to provide the bill or take further drink orders. Live music was very good.

Es la primera vez que no puedo terminar una hamburguesa. Definitivamente no una hamburguesa de carne como se describe , más una hamburguesa congelada de supermercado. Fui por el Guinness de tiro, debería haberse pegado al Guinness. Decepcionado.

Best place in Edinburgh city. Foods are very delicious. Menu and price is good. Waitress are very helpful. Specially waitress rebecca very helpful.

Bonito lugar y es la segunda vez que visité. Fue para un regalo de cumpleaños en ambas ocasiones. Diría que la primera vez fue lo mejor. Tomé el mismo plato principal de frituras de bistec ambas visitas y la segunda vez que la presentación fue bastante horrible y las patatas fritas estaban demasiado cocidas y no podía comer la mitad de ellos. Lo mencioné y todo lo que recibí fue un rápido "lo siento". De lo contrario, es bueno.

One of the best place during my journey in Edimburg! Simple and quality food, and we want say thanks to Manola and the other staff for the warm welcome and service!

Our son recommended this restaurant to us because he really enjoyed the Sunday roast on another occasion. We polished off delicious roast dinners on Sunday. My husband had the venison, my son and I took beef. All cooked to perfection, ample servings and a friendly, efficient waitress. Any staff we spoke to were welcoming and helpful. If you want to enjoy the view over Leith harbour and a buzz, sit in the front of the restaurant. We appreciated the quieter rear of the restaurant where we chose spacious seating and were able to enjoy our chat together.

Stopped in for a hot drink. Really good hot chocolate.

We had Christmas Day here and the food was nice and the atmosphere was lovely. The main manager who was looking after the upstairs room was lovely - she had it against her with low experienced staff and she apologised so many times which she didn’t have too so a huge shout out to her as she was managing the best she could. At one point a Chef had to help with the service and he was so lovely too.

Went for Christmas dinner we arrived at our allotted time of 4.30 we were informed that they were running behind which we had no problem with at all , as the time passed by over an hour and still our starters hadn’t arrived or even been told that they were coming. After an hour and a half the waitress came up and asked us if the starters had come and obviously they hadn’t. After 1 hour 45 she brought us 2 of the people’s starters which were correct they she then came with 2 random starters asked if we wanted them but we were like no we want what we ordered thanks 10 min went passed then the rest of the group got their starters. We then waited 30 more min for the waitress to then come and ask if we had had our mains when she must have known we hadn’t as she was arriving us , we then got our mains and as she brought them out she was like I don’t know what this even is as she handed it to one of our party. The food wasn’t bad i can’t complain about the over 2 hour wait for a first course definitely put a bad taste in my mouth , I understood that it was Christmas and was a very busy time but we were perfectly nice and pleasant but the standard of service wasn’t good enough for a £65 per head dinner and when you had to gratuity before you even go I just expected a lot more , I don’t think will be back

Pedí el bistec y pedí medio, cuando lo trajeron, estaba bien hecho. Lo que me llamó la atención fue cuando le dije a la camarera que estaba bien hecho, estaba tan disculpada, no sé cuántas veces vino a disculparse pero no solo ella, el gerente y demás personal también vinieron a disculparse. Me trajeron un filete nuevo pero también estaba bien hecho, no me quejé ya que estaba tan abrumado con todas las disculpas la primera vez. Pero el gerente me estaba viendo cortar en el filete y dijo que eso no es medio, voy a quitar eso de su factura y no cobrarle. También tomé una copa gratis y de nuevo tantas disculpas, que no podrían haber hecho más por mí. Si alguna vez estoy en la zona de nuevo voy a volver y voy a recomendar este restaurante a todos mis amigos, nunca he tenido un servicio tan bueno en ningún lugar del mundo y viajamos mucho. ¡Muchas gracias!

We had booked the brunch with santa but it had been cancelled. They actually didnt tell us it had been cancelled i had called to confirm the booking a couple days before. This is after taking full payment at the time of booking. If we hadnt called to confirm we would have arrived with some very dissappointed kids. Incredibly poor service. they just sent an email after the call for an alternative venue.

Had a really top quality lunch here. Food was top notch - we had the veggie burger and the sausage and mash special which was really good! Steph was looking after front of house and was absolutely lovely and helped make it a great afternoon

We chose this place almost by chance because we were looking for somewhere in the port area of ​​Leith. We had a very good time, the environment is nice and welcoming, the service friendly and attentive, the food (we ate meat) of excellent quality. In short, for us 5 stars are deserved for a good quality/price ratio

We booked for live music and in the end there was no live music.

Fabulous ambience with live music. Had the Sunday roast (beef) which was delicious. Great variety of vegetables and tasted like a home cooked roast. Can't recommend highly enough. Rebecca served us and was so friendly and helpful. So lovely to have a friendly, smiling, helpful waitress. Couldn't have been kinder and more welcoming! Will definitely visit again when next in Edinburgh. A 10/10 experience and would recommend to all.

The Granary advertised a Christmas market. We turned up, and there was no Christmas market! The staff didn’t really take responsibility for this - basically told us it was a marketing ploy by marketing that they meant to cancel the day before and forgot. Pretty disappointing. - as we came across town and were looking forward to it.

Great Sunday Lunch, staff were great when they were attentive, waiting at the bar for 15 mins after I sat and ordered - not good. This was at 1230 by 1400 there were at least 4 staff, there were only 2/3 visible previously

We celebrated our engagement here this weekend and it was incredible! The mezzanine area was a great fit for our group of 25. Staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was brilliant. Thank you Emma and The Granary team for making our wee day so lovely!!💕

We ate here today, our last evening in Edinburgh, and absolutely loved it. The best meal we ate during our holiday in Scotland. It was a great atmosphere and very nice service! Highly recommended.

Best Sunday roast I’ve had so far in Edinburgh, went at 3pm, not too busy! Great service, delicious flavours and cozy atmosphere. Would highly recommend :)

We were visiting Leith for the morning and decided to stop by the Grannary for Brunch. We were welcomed and got a booth at the back of the restaurant. Our host Steph was really helpful and attentive throughout our visit and meal. She kindly provided us with crayons and paper for the kids, which makes a big difference as a parent. The food was served pretty quick, our Smoked Salmon on a Hash Brown, with a perfect poached egg was fantastic. My only comment would be that there should not have been a need for a Television within the restaurant, especially as it was just showing a film and we always find it's a distraction for the kids when trying to enjoy a meal. Just an observation, otherwise the team did a fantastic job and we'd definitely be back. Thank you

Service from the waiting staff was great but took sooooo long for food to come out. When the food did arrive it was very nice, but kitchen just didn’t perform, even though it didn’t seem too busy. Will come again and gone it another chance but the managers/owners need to get a grip of the back of house.

Estábamos visitando Leith por la mañana y decidimos pasar por el Grannary para el Brunch. Nos dieron la bienvenida y nos dieron una cabina en la parte trasera del restaurante. Nuestro anfitrión Steph era muy servicial y atento durante toda nuestra visita y comida. Ella amablemente nos proporcionó crayones y papel para los niños, lo que hace una gran diferencia como padre. La comida se sirvió bastante rápido, nuestro Salmón Ahumado en un Hash Brown, con un huevo escalfado perfecto fue fantástico. Mi único comentario sería que no debería haber habido necesidad de una televisión dentro del restaurante, especialmente porque solo estaba exhibiendo una película y siempre encontramos que es una distracción para los niños cuando tratan de disfrutar de una comida. Solo una observación, de lo contrario el equipo hizo un trabajo fantástico y sin duda volveríamos. Gracias.

Really good food and service was excellent. Only slight downside was the limited vegan options on the menu but I had the risotto which was excellent. Very filling couldn't eat anything after my main.

Positives are nice staff and atmosphere. Food was ok but there were missing items that were stated on the menu. Shame as it could it could of been much better.

Sind zum Mittag eingekehrt. Manola, die Mitarbeiterin im Service war sehr freundlich und nahm auch unsere Sonderwünsche zur Kenntnis. Das Essen war unter derm Strich gut, meine Enkeltochter bemängelte ihr etwas festeres Burger Paddy. Wir waren 2017 schon einmal hier, ich bin mit den jetzigen Betreibern recht zufrieden.

Our late lunch stop at Granary was lovely. The staff was helpful and attentive. Ordered a club absolute! a caprese sandwich. Club was just right, although the caprese could possibly benefit from a smear of pesto. Fries were really good, doubled fried and crisp.. Cocktails and beverages were great! Thanks!

Love this place! We had really great evening with nice wine, beer and food! Menu offers various option of sea food and meat, as well as veggie huggies! Stuff was welcoming and prices were fair. Really do recommend!

The atmosphere is nice and the staff friendly enough but the service was slow and the food sub par, especially given that it was quite expensive. Every item was missing something as described on the menu (burger with no cheese, for example), and this was not mentioned on ordering. Some parts of the food were nice, but other things were not. Some vegan options and dog friendly. Would not go back.

Excellent fish and chips. However, dark scam for tourists. When we booked via their website, an offer appeared, "two courses £19". When we place an order, we ask for more information about this offer we booked with. The waitress pretends not to understand, says that the site often glitches and that she can't help us, that she will ask her colleagues. Our order arrived and no one kept us informed. We therefore paid in the end without this famous offer which had been active for a few days during our visit. No word regarding this offer, no gesture on their part, as if nothing had happened. It's a shame to lure customers with offers and pretend not to understand what they are about. Their site is bug-free, it is very well done and updated (the offer is dated, it is valid during the month of October). For poor tourists like us, I seriously recommend this restaurant. The food was good, but the feeling of being taken for idiots was very unpleasant.

Had the haggis neeps and tatties and the vegetarian version, both were excellent. Good price, looked very pretty and left us both full. 😁

Everything was soooooo yum! Espresso Martinis and Haggis Bon Bons for all my friends!! loved the acoustic guitar player as well.

Sadly the service wasn’t great; whilst the girls were lovely and polite; we had to ask the girls a few times to bring the basics for a cup of tea! A teabag for the second cup; a teaspoon, and some milk of all things. The food was average; I ordered the baked eggs; not what I expected and was missing the sourdough bread despite being on the menu - I did ask and it came; I don’t think it was sourdough, looked more like brown bread. My partner ordered the mushrooms on toast (she’s vegan) and asked for an extra veggie sausage on the side. The mushrooms arrived; very dry and not a large portion. The single veggie sausage wasn’t the usual ‘sausage’; it was like a sausage shaped vegetable filled patty. Random, anyway, we got charged £3 for a SINGLE veggie sausage. Won’t be ordering food in the future, would still come for drinks though, nice place and nice atmosphere.

Visited today with my son and my wee Chihuahua, Dimis was first class, brought water for my pooch and took our order, food great and staff super friendly. Dimis made the best coffee, iced Freddo Espresso (Greek iced coffee) ☺️🫶🏻👌 We will definitely be back.

We just celebrated our wedding reception at the Granary at the weekend and it exceeded our expectations. Emma's communication was speedy and nothing was an issue. The staff at The Granary on the day were exceptional. The food was fantastic! All our guests complimented the food. The staff set up all my decor for me and did such a fantastic job. I will be recommending to everyone! Thank you so much for helping us have a perfect day.

The service was good but a little slow,it was a Friday evening and fairly busy so to be expected. The sad thing was that the food, although tasty, was just tepid, which was a shame. It’s put us off from going again.

I like starting a night out here with drinks by the water and a shared antipasti platter and chilli cashews. The marinated olives are the best I've ever had. The pub grub options aren't great, though. edit: they removed the marinated olives

Just had a drink with a friend He is from chile, we grom Suffolk...couldn't get a cab which he needed urgently so the locals advised what to do, bus number and times..loverly, friendly people in Edinburgh.

Nice place to meet up with friends. Live music,unfortunately,due to it being not so large it is hard to chat when music is being played. Still would recommend.

The service was two-faced, in the sense that the staff was lovely and helpful, however it took long for the drinks to arrive or to flag down a staff member to pay. It felt like the place was simply understaffed and staff present was a little overwhelmed. Nevertheless, food was good.

Really lovely place. The staff were great our waitress I think her name was Rebecca was exceptional. She was so helpful and friendly. Food was mediocre the pork bites were really dry and hard to eat as well as being barely warm. Staff definitely made up for it.

We’ve been to the Granary before and loved it so much that we took friends there for Sunday dinner. Sadly our experience was not so good. The Sunday roast dinner was warm but not hot but the sticky toffee pudding was cold. Weird. We said we wouldn’t eat so it was taken off our bill but why serve it cold? The staff seemed disinterested.

Visited here with my parents for a meal as they had been before. The restaurant is lovely and I like the decor. We ordered the haggis, neeps and tatties (I chose vegetarian haggis) my dad had the seafood orzo and my mum had haggis. The presentation of the food was appealing and the food delivered on flavour. The food was cooked well and very tasty. For dessert my dad and I had the coconut and lime cheesecake which was to die for and my mum had the strawberries and cream with the jelly and meringue. The young girl will long dark hair who took our order told us what the specials were was really friendly and smiley. We also met Jamie who was very attentive and helpful. This place is good to visit if you want to enjoy good food in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be back soon. Thank you to everyone at the Granary.

Came in for a light bite. Chose the cheese toasted sandwich, which was accompanied with fries and a coffee. Coffee very good and piping hot. Toasted sandwich on the other hand the worst iv ever encountered.. warm bread at most with rubbery cheese, fries crisp. Very poor. Cannot comment on anything else as this was enough..

Very busy, ordered a toasted cheese sandwich, which came with fries and a coffee. Coffee very good. Do not waste your money on the toasted sandwich. At best it was warm bread with very tasteless cheese. Fries warm and crisp. Advised waiting staff of how poor it was, they said they would pass this to chef.

We visited during the week for our menu tasting ahead of our November wedding and we had such a lovely evening. Piera was looking after us and she was such a sweetheart! She made sure to check in with us all evening and chatted away about all of our choices. We joked that we hope she's working on the day of our actual wedding! The food was all delicious and it was genuinely hard to make a decision on what we would have at the wedding but we managed just about. We left in such good spirits and can't wait for our big day in a couple of months. Thanks again Piera, you were fab!

Got 2 drinks here, a non-alcoholic beer and a vodka red bull. Came to £16.70. I’d expect that in London or New York, but this is Edinburgh, not even the centre of Edinburgh. Unless you’re rich, I’d avoid this place.

The place was empty when we arrived. Drinks came promptly. Waited over 40 minutes for food and it was totally underwhelming. Presentation and taste suggested it hadn't been prepared by a chef. There are so many other cafes and restaurants in the area with much better food for the same price.

Tourist-catching atmosphere, terrible burger, I had to leave all the chips because they were burnt and looked like scraps from the bottom of the pan.

A nice restaurant, with good food, a very good atmosphere and at a reasonable price. But without a doubt, the best thing has been the service, Izan and Rebeca are charming and have treated us like 10, making us a most pleasant evening. We would return without hesitation.

This past Monday I went to the Granary for my lunch. I asked for a risotto and the risotto was ok. Somewhere inside the plate there was a hair rubber but luckily my teeth noticed. Restaurant was almost empty but that's ok

We get lost in this place...and we enjoy it in the moment...we have the impression of participating in neighborhood life...and we are quickly taken by the atmosphere and the chance to come across a on a live!

Went upstairs for a wake, sandwiches were ok but the sausage rolls were really tough, do chefs not test the food they have prepared? Got a nice reply back from the manager to say they are on it.

Quite possibly the worst bar not just in Leith but in Edinburgh, the managers just generally rude and seems to do nothing but insult his staff. The bartenders genuinely seem miserable and if i was to guess i reckon if I ever went in again Id have to make my own drinks, food was alright I guess but just a fancy sandwich. Overall I’d rather bring a pint glass to the water of leith and drink that, atleast there might of been some nice vibes!

Very nice restaurant and possibility to eat upstairs. Very nice waiters. You can take the Coffee&Cake formula which is very practical

Good place to stay and eat in Leith

Well, if you’re a fan of a spritz do not bother getting one here.. rank. The staff are as miserable as the spritz. Felt like we were getting served by one of the walking dead. Thankfully there are many establishments in Leith providing good drinks and good service. Don't bother 🧟

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I celebrated our wedding in The Jig Room of The Granary. We married privately a few weeks prior and this was a chance to celebrate with our friends and family. We couldnt have been happier with how the night went. Maddie went above and beyond in assisting with anything we needed on the night and all our guests had a great time, with most making special mention of the bacon and sausage rolls being excellent! Cant thank Maddie and the rest of the team at The Granary enough. One negative is that when organising something like this, they can be quite slow in replying to you via email. A few times i had to chase emails up after not receiving a reply. However i’m aware that the team that deal with enquiries sit in Glasgow so this is no fault of the actual venue staff. We have also eaten and drank here multiple times and the food is always lovely. An added bonus being able to take the dog in with us.

We ate at The Granary last night on the final night of our Scottish road trip. After a very long wait 3 of the 4 main courses arrived. The waitress said she had to send one back as it wasn’t acceptable?!? The haggis, neeps and tatties were cold and had to be sent back and the two chicken Caesar salads has virtually no chicken. The manager accepted our complaint with very good grace and agreed not to charge us for the food but it spoiled our last evening of what had otherwise been a fantastic holiday.

For a set menu, the food wasn't so great. The Granary burger was below average. The service could have been better, even though we were a big group.

Nice and cozy Restaurant at the border of the river Leith. The dishes are very delicious with good quality seafood. I can highly recommend the Seafood Orzo and the Fish & Chips, it was soo good. Also the service was very kind and keen.

Food was great, we had a light evening meal with Cullen skink, beer selection was really decent and our server Madeleine was incredibly helpful and attentive.

I am a tour guide and take groups to the Granary and let me tell you, if you are looking to arrange an event there, you will be very happy. Staff is very pleasant and easy to work with, operations always go smoothly and they understand that events sometimes change and are very flexible and efficient. 100% recommend!

Food took 45 minutes with an empty restaurant. The chef was smoking outside with the manager when I walked in. Maybe we had to wait till he finished his cigarette. The food was really bad and not worth the price, they also slapped on a 10% gratuity for doing a really bad job. I would avoid at all costs.
