Friendly staff, very nice music! I asked for recommendations and got a very nice and sweet whiskey that’s not on the menu!

The locals like this one, so that is usually a good draw. It could also be the with of the bartender, who knows ! Beer was cold. Food portions were a decent size with the locals showing a liking for the fish and chips and burgers, so again worth trying. They have a few seat out on Rose Street to allow scanning in the passing crowd.

The atmosphere is great and the staff is friendly! It seemed like a pub that also had live music.

Food was good but the bathroom was just brutal

I am Argentine and I must say that together with my wife we ​​spent an unforgettable night. We arrived late, we wanted to have dinner and the kitchen was already closed, but they very kindly offered me to buy pizza at a place next to the pub and they told me that we were "VERY WELCOME IF WE CAME BACK WITH THE PIZZA TO EAT IT IN THE PUB." So we did and we had a spectacular night of pure beer, music and cordiality. Excellent and recommended!! THANK YOU ROSE & CROWN!!

Great spot. Food was delicious, great liquor selection and knowledgeable bartender. I had asked about whisky’s and he was very happy to get me a selection and base it on what I liked and took the time to explain it to me. Restaurant was also very clean and pretty

Excellent pub in the centre of Edinburgh - good selection of drinks, nice friendly staff, and played the best music ever (from the Beatles to REM) - could have stayed all night, we will definitely be back next visit! Cheers!

Lovely lunch in here on new year's day I had the festive turkey pie and my partner had the chicken schnitzel Both really tasty and good value for money Along with a few drinks the bill came to around 60 quid Service was lovely, friendly and quick The restaurant is upstairs and quite small so if busy can feel a little crammed

This is a great pub. With friendly staff. Now all they need to do is fix the doors, as when people come in and out the pub, the doors constantly stick open, and that night we were in, it was minus 1 outside, so around 3 of us had to get up and down closing the doors, I just can't believe they haven't been fixed, as it's bloody annoying.

Stumbled upon 'Rose & Crown' while searching for a place to enjoy a few pints, and what a delightful surprise it turned out to be! We unexpectedly found ourselves treated to a fantastic live performance by a talented musician and singer. His choice of classic songs had the entire pub, spanning all age groups, enthusiastically singing along. I highly recommend visiting 'Rose & Crown' on a Friday night for a memorable experience.

Just called in for a bite to eat and a beer, it was very nice. The locals were very friendly and the staff made you welcome.

Good place to stop for a couple, decent bar food and live music.

We were in the city for 5 days for a break, and popped in one weekday afternoon for a drink and take the weight off our feet after exploring the city. The barman was a bit grumpy and unfriendly. Two pints cost £10.40. The beer was lovely and it's a good place for people watching. However we never returned during our stay.

The orchard cider was really good. The waiter was friendly and the side fries were a good portion size for the price.

Pub fast food for when you're a tourist visiting around. Service is great and interestingly many of the waiters speak Spanish. I tried the loaded potatoes with haggis. It was my first time trying haggis and I was delighted.

Friday night with a live singer. Very enjoyable few hours

I just went into this pub. There was 2 staff behind the bar the one was serving and the other completely blanked us which could have been a mistake as he thought the other was serving us, but when the one finished serving he walked away from the bar and neither served us. I walked out and then the pair of them were laughing thinking it was funny. Certainly won't be going there tomorrow or on my next visit to Edinburgh

Four of stopped by for a drink and a chat. We found the Rose and Crown a most convivial place - the juke box not intrusive, and neither was meant host!

Ordered the seafood platter. Very poor. Little bit of salmon and a few prawns on stale bread. Fish was fried to a crisp and fish cake lukewarm. Gave a small discount but would not return.

Best roast dinner ive ever had beautifully presented and the cider was sweet and went down so well . This is a very old pub with lots of atmosphere the staff were brillant . The roast isnt cheap but very very worth it treat yourselfs .

Good old pub, admirable place to get pished instead of going to work

We popped in here for a drink on Six Nations international day, France vs Scotland. Managed to get a table by a TV, bar staff were very helpful and attentive, opened a tab for us, took our drinks order and brought them to the table for us. We had haggis loaded fries and scampi and shared both as we weren't looking to eat a full meal each, just something to keep us ticking over until the evening. Place started to fill up close to kick off but the atmosphere was very nice and mellow. Great little pub

Nice friendly pub, decent Guinness.

Thought we would try this pub for food. Very disappointed. We ordered the chilli. The chilli was there but the rest of the dish is missing. Very few kidney beans and the mince was quite watery. If this establishment wants to serve food they need to hire a cook who knows how to cook.

Guinness shortage due to unpredented demand did not diminish the experience. Loved it...

popped in for lunch, tho expecting to be pricey as in popular location, but was pleasantly surprised..I had haggis on bed of chips in basket with a jug of pepper sauce for just over £6.. very cosy with friendly service..would def recommend a visit!
