Didn't eat so can't comment on the food but the atmosphere is great. There is a pub dog called Cooper and he's a gem. Staff also nice and live music on every night

Excellent pub in the centre of Edinburgh - good selection of drinks, nice friendly staff, and played the best music ever (from the Beatles to REM) - could have stayed all night, we will definitely be back next visit! Cheers!

Lovely lunch in here on new year's day I had the festive turkey pie and my partner had the chicken schnitzel Both really tasty and good value for money Along with a few drinks the bill came to around 60 quid Service was lovely, friendly and quick The restaurant is upstairs and quite small so if busy can feel a little crammed

This is a great pub. With friendly staff. Now all they need to do is fix the doors, as when people come in and out the pub, the doors constantly stick open, and that night we were in, it was minus 1 outside, so around 3 of us had to get up and down closing the doors, I just can't believe they haven't been fixed, as it's bloody annoying.

Stumbled upon 'Rose & Crown' while searching for a place to enjoy a few pints, and what a delightful surprise it turned out to be! We unexpectedly found ourselves treated to a fantastic live performance by a talented musician and singer. His choice of classic songs had the entire pub, spanning all age groups, enthusiastically singing along. I highly recommend visiting 'Rose & Crown' on a Friday night for a memorable experience.

Just called in for a bite to eat and a beer, it was very nice. The locals were very friendly and the staff made you welcome.

Good place to stop for a couple, decent bar food and live music.

We were in the city for 5 days for a break, and popped in one weekday afternoon for a drink and take the weight off our feet after exploring the city. The barman was a bit grumpy and unfriendly. Two pints cost £10.40. The beer was lovely and it's a good place for people watching. However we never returned during our stay.

The orchard cider was really good. The waiter was friendly and the side fries were a good portion size for the price.

Only stopped in for a pint of Caledonia Best, £5.40 during the festival felt like a reasonable price and it was a nice beer.

Service waa good, but it took forever for the food to arrive. Food was ok. I asked for a medium hamburger and got it well done.

Pub fast food for when you're a tourist visiting around. Service is great and interestingly many of the waiters speak Spanish. I tried the loaded potatoes with haggis. It was my first time trying haggis and I was delighted.

Friday night with a live singer. Very enjoyable few hours

I just went into this pub. There was 2 staff behind the bar the one was serving and the other completely blanked us which could have been a mistake as he thought the other was serving us, but when the one finished serving he walked away from the bar and neither served us. I walked out and then the pair of them were laughing thinking it was funny. Certainly won't be going there tomorrow or on my next visit to Edinburgh

Four of stopped by for a drink and a chat. We found the Rose and Crown a most convivial place - the juke box not intrusive, and neither was meant host!

Ordered the seafood platter. Very poor. Little bit of salmon and a few prawns on stale bread. Fish was fried to a crisp and fish cake lukewarm. Gave a small discount but would not return.

Popped in for a light lunch after much deliberation on Rose Street. Service was fast and friendly. Food was delightful and atmosphere relaxed. Will definitely be back.

Best roast dinner ive ever had beautifully presented and the cider was sweet and went down so well . This is a very old pub with lots of atmosphere the staff were brillant . The roast isnt cheap but very very worth it treat yourselfs .

Good old pub, admirable place to get pished instead of going to work

We popped in here for a drink on Six Nations international day, France vs Scotland. Managed to get a table by a TV, bar staff were very helpful and attentive, opened a tab for us, took our drinks order and brought them to the table for us. We had haggis loaded fries and scampi and shared both as we weren't looking to eat a full meal each, just something to keep us ticking over until the evening. Place started to fill up close to kick off but the atmosphere was very nice and mellow. Great little pub

Nice friendly pub, decent Guinness.

Thought we would try this pub for food. Very disappointed. We ordered the chilli. The chilli was there but the rest of the dish is missing. Very few kidney beans and the mince was quite watery. If this establishment wants to serve food they need to hire a cook who knows how to cook.

Guinness shortage due to unpredented demand did not diminish the experience. Loved it...

popped in for lunch, tho expecting to be pricey as in popular location, but was pleasantly surprised..I had haggis on bed of chips in basket with a jug of pepper sauce for just over £6.. very cosy with friendly service..would def recommend a visit!

We just happened to stop here for a break from shopping and had a few drinks and snacks. The barman was really friendly and helpful, helping us choose a gin to try. The place had a lovely cosy feel and we got the last table as it was so busy. We had nachos and haggis loaded fries both of which were so tasty! Don’t know why there are bad reviews of this place as it was lovely, really chilled and tasty snacks.

We were told they don't usually serve "stag dos" yet we were just a group of friends politely visiting a pub. The pub claims to be LGBT (not QIA+?) friendly but is happy to discriminate based on the customer's gender. Poor. There are other pubs in Edinburgh that don't discriminate like this.

My partner and I were looking for somewhere to unwind after our trip to Edinburgh. I’m so happy we came across Rose and Crown! The ambiance was lovely, the staff were polite and friendly, we felt very welcomed and at home in this cozy establishment 😊 We lucked out and experienced some live music, which was fantastic. Would definitely recommend visiting here!

Live music was excellent with the singer from San Francisco . Unfortunately you are not allowed to dance and enjoy yourself, staff refused my Mrs anymore drink saying she had had enough (just because she was on the dance floor enjoying herself with tourists) Staff must be allowed to do as they wand because we went to other establishments in rose st and enjoyed ourselves until the wee small hours. Don't come here if you want to enjoy yourself.

We visited with family for lunch. First of all we were greeted by a member of staff asking if any of our party were under 18. My husband's grandson is 16 but is almost 6 foot tall and looks mature but we were honest and said he was 16 only to be told that even though we were intending to have a meal we had to sit at the back. We ordered 5 meals and settled down with our drinks to wait for our meals. 3 meals duly arrived and at best these were mediocre. As a family we wait for everyone to be served before starting but it was obvious that if we did this our meals would be cold. After a few minutes my stepson went to enquire as to the whereabouts of the other 2 meals only to be told that they had run out of the steak and ale pie which was ordered. No one thought to inform us. The money was refunded but 2 of our party went without lunch. I found this totally appalling and I am afraid it didn't help my impression of Edinburgh.

Good little pub with a nice menu that is reasonably priced. I had the beef burger which for £10 was a really good deal. It was tasty and a good sized portion, also served with fries. Staff were friendly and attentive. Grab a table, grab a menu and order at the bar. It got quite busy over lunch time so get in quick.

Had a wander and came across this pub. Staff are really friendly and service is excellent. Had the loaded chilli cheese fries and hot wings. Both were amazing!! and not expensive. Think I found a new local!!! Strongly recommend visiting!!!!

Service not great, new menu on offer, but when asked for certain dishes they didn't have the accompaniments for the food. Cheese on burgers was on the bottom of the bun. Nachos were mostly crumbs as if it was the bottom of the bag
