We went for dinner on Friday and it was a lovely experience. We had a Virgin Experience Voucher as a gift for our anniversary to use so we had to book via email - no issues there, staff was super prompt with their reply. If you have the voucher just note that it might be a 3 course meal within a timeframe (we went there at 5pm). The restaurant is really nice and the staff was caring and lovely! I didn’t take any photos but the wings, steak, and lamb ribs on the set menu were excellent. Highly recommend. We also had a chocolate brownie with ice cream that was a real warm treat.

Long wait for drinks, didn't get offered any refills during our 2 hour visit, tried to flag down waiter and eventually got an order in but then had to cancel them as took so long to arrive. Plates not cleared until we asked for this either. We only managed to get one course in. We wanted dessert but everything took so long we ran out of time. Food wasn't great, especially for the price. Steak beautiful but fish and chips not good. Mushy peas were stone cold on the Fish & chips, chips hard and not soft centered - seemed undercooked. Fish batter wasn't crispy it was wet and almost slimy. Curry was OK but not wow.

One of our party had fish and chips. This was good to be fair. However two of the party wanted to try the chickpea and aubergine curry. It was awful . There was no aubergine only chickpea and carrots. It was very watery and the naan bread was stale. To say I was shocked is an understatement. I’ve had better at weatherspoons. Veggie food should not be second best. I didn’t complain on the day as I always think it comes across that we want a freebie. That is not the case. I emailed feedback to the chef and asked for a response. I didn’t get one which is why I’m completing this.

After a wonderfully transformative experience at Gordon's Kansas City Steakhouse stateside, my sister and I wanted to make our last night in Edinburgh special by dining here. Unfortunately we were left disappointed. At £90 per person for the Beef Wellington experience, we felt there were some huge misses on the offerings, but especially so on the overcooked (hard in fact) pastry surrounding the Beef Wellington. The saddest part fell on the inattentive service in obtaining drinks. I won't be back to Scotland for a while, but should I go, I'd be hard pressed to return here. I felt this experience was average at best, certainly not befitting the expectations and costs attached.

I paid attention to this restaurant only because they have blankets on the summer area. We just wanted to have coffee, but it was closed. Later we came for lunch. I call this type of place a special occasion place. When we arrived, I didn’t expect anything from this place, I just wrapped myself in a blanket, we were the only ones sitting on the summer terrace. I liked the service and the food too. We ate ribs and lasagna. My friend and I were pleased, this place was the main event of that day. I recommend it, I would come back again. For me the atmosphere is very important. The only negative is the 12.5 percent service charge, which I did not expect.

Brand Damaging Experience. Having recently enjoyed a faultless dining experience at Ramsey's The River restaurant, at the Savoy, we were keen to enjoy the same standard at this restaurant in Edinburgh, but the difference was like night and day! We were served bland coffee and orange juice that we could see being served from a carton... surely £7.50 for a glass of OJ warrants freshly squeezed rather than a tetra packed delivery. My wife ordered a full Scottish breakfast, which was not full as there were items missing - I won't even describe the lack of care that went into preparing the eggs. The server did ask if we would like something else - but why would we have more of the same? Very disappointed. If the staff need some ideas of how to improve - maybe they should watch an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.

We visited Bread Street Kitchen after a day of Festival fun. We had our 2 x 4 legged pals with us and decided to ask if we could sit outside with our pets to have some dinner. Front of House young lady explained that our pals were more than welcome to enter the restaraunt with us to have our dinner. We were ushered to a nice table and the dogs were immediately given water and 2 doggy biscuits. The menu was clear, reasonably priced with a good range of dishes to suit anyone. We had classic fish n chips and a tasty cod in red wine jus. Followed by fabulous classic sticky toffee pudding and delicious scoops of ice cream. The service we received was fast, friendly and such nice manners from all the staff. Definitely highly reccomend a visit to enjoy the vibe and food with your family, friends and pets.

Service by original waiter was lackluster. He never brought my Caesar salad until I asked for it. Glass of champagne came late, after salad. When main was served, did not have bernaise or the red wine glass ordered. Had to ask for them. The potatoes on the side were dry. The restaurant was only half filled at 7 pm. The ribeye was cooked to order but a bit tough. Overall, a disappointment at $140 Americans for one.

Was looking forward to visiting here on our latest trip to Edinburgh, surely a restaraunt that Gordon Ramsay has put his name to must be good..... Uum unfortunately not!!! Burrata starter OK, but you can't really go wrong with that, Haggis starter looked like a 5 year old had made it, burnt and looked unappealing with no garnish, ribs for main again not a hard dish to do but quite flavourless and not much sauce. Now this is where it gets interesting, potted crab main course with crumpets which we expected to be hand made, they were bloody Warburtons!!! £28 for a pot of crab, 2 warburtons crumpets and 3 pickled gherkins, you're having a laugh..... Desert sticky toffee pudding, run of the mill, gluten free choice chocolate cup with sorbet, OK but was expected to eat it without a spoon because they'd run out of spoons..... As you can guess we won't be returning!!!

I had made a reservation for this restuarant and was excited to try out the food. I was very disappointed though. I showed up at my reservation time and had to wait to even speak to a host/hostess. Nobody was at front of house. It took about 5 minutes to get someone's attention and when we were seated the person basically tossed the menus on the table and didn't say a word. So far, not great, but whatever, it happens. We waited for 15 minutes for a waiter/waitress to take our drink order, but nobody ever showed up. We had decided on our entrees at that point and still had seen multiple people walk right by our table. Looking around it wasn't very busy and everyone within eyesight had food already. Anytime I saw an employee with was them cleaning off a table. After not having drinks/water after 15 minutes I decided to leave. I even walked by an employee on the way out and they didnt even bother to stop me. It was a pretty bad expereience and I expect better when I'm going to be paying premium prices for food.

We booked about two weeks in advance, for our first wedding anniversary, to try the famous Beef Wellington and Scottish Haggis. Our reservation was at 8pm. The restaurant, despite being quite large and with 70% empty tables, placed us at a table under the spiral staircase instead of placing us on the upper floor with the tables overlooking the park (they were almost all empty). The waiter immediately tells us that they don't have all the dishes and they didn't actually have the Haggis and the Filet Wellingtono, they had run out of them; he tells us that we should have indicated on the booking form that we wanted the Wellington but it didn't say anywhere that we should have booked it. I didn't believe that in a restaurant owned by an important chef there was a risk that the dishes would run out. Much to our disappointment we take other dishes including a meat fillet and a hamburger. Both were "Ok", nothing special. The fillet was a normal fillet that I could have found in less expensive restaurants and the burger was not inviting, bread too soft, burger nothing special as well as the sauces. The gins were good. The service was normal service, they made us wait a while for some meatballs because they had problems in the kitchen. The waiter was kind throughout the dinner and quite present. They made us wait a while to be seated. Ultimately we were very disappointed because we had come for two dishes that weren't there. The table reserved for us was under the stairs and the price was high for what we ate (around £155). For much less in Edinburgh you can find better burgers, warmer environments and typical dishes. We will not return and do not recommend.

I was super excited to Bread Street Kitchen. Loved the menu selections but found our service and food to be mediocre. The wagyu meatball was dry and tough, it was difficult to cut through. Not at all what I expected. And the crumpet under the crab appetizer was so dry it seemed stale and flavourless. And way too thick for the skimpy amount of crab on top. The proportions seemed off. Service was basic and nothing special when I said the meal was just ok - there was no response. Also 6 pounds for still water! Wow. The only thing I can recommend is the sticky toffee pudding. Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares First and foremost I would like to say I'm a huge fan of Gordon Ramsay but this has got to be the worst meal I've had in a long, long while. We were given a voucher as a Christmas present for a 3 course meal for 2. When we arrived it was explained to us that if we would prefer we could swap the set menu for a £44 spend for the 2 of us off the a la carte menu. As absolutely nothing was jumping out at us from either the set menu or a la carte we decided to have 6 starters between us as a sort of tapas. Worst decision ever! The spicy cauliflower bites weren't spicy and as dry as sticks, the crab and avocado on toast was straight out the fridge and stone cold so no flavour at all to the dish, the scallops were cold and overcooked sitting in some congealed sauce, the haggis bon bons were overcooked, the wagyu meatballs were tasteless and the mac and cheese, although had a lovely consistency, was entirely bland, definitely needed a spot more dijon mustard or some applewood cheese to give it flavour. A glass of wine each and with the automatically added 12.5% service charge we were nearly £100. I had to point out to remove the £44 voucher price and remove the service charge as we prefer giving it as cash. Not once did our server ask us if we enjoyed our meal. The dishes sat heavy in my stomach for the entire night and we had to stop off for some ice cream to try to remove the greasy feeling from our lips. Mr Ramsay I expect better from something you deem worthy of your name!

We have paid slightly more money for michellin star meals in the past and this was priced fairly high but for what we paid for it was an average meal. The food itself was ok and not poor to the point I would complain at all but again the cost versus the quality didn't stack up for me. I would have had the same experience eating at TGI Fridays for a quarter of the price. Plus side, staff were friendly.

It’s like a culinary explosion in the mouth!! Went with our kids, the experience was fantastic… and the ribs, steak, burgers and appies were phenomenal… other than the ridiculous amounts of rain in Scotland, the day was magical. Oh, and the cocktails were wonderful.

Popped in for something light to eat and coffee today about 1hour ago. The male member of staff advised us he would be back with a menu, after we chose a high seated window table. 10 minutes later a female member of staff told us we would be served shortly and another few minutes passed before another female member of staff appeared. No menu, no smiles and no pleasantries. Absolutely dreadful and blights Gordon Ramsays name. Personally, will never go to another, with chef Ramsays name above the door!!.

Avoid! Mediocre overpriced food and awful service - it was painfully slow and the waiter rolled his eyes at us when we pointed out one of the dishes was only half cooked.
