Went for a wake, close to beckenham crematorium, hired the function room. Sandwiches and picky food were ok but not worth the amount they charge, staff very moody no condolences etc. Music was awful.

Been a three times, once when a band were playing, once just for a drink and the last time for a wake. I have never felt welcome, there is a strange atmosphere. Won't be going again! The last occasion was for a wake. We arrived to a near empty pub, and were directed to 2 tables in the middle, not at all private. The only coffee available was instant, quite disappointing in this day and age! There had been a bit of a mix up and no food had been prepared for us, the staff were very unsympathetic and unhelpful. We finished our drinks and left as some of the group were quite upset. We headed for the Elm Tree down the road and were really taken care of, fed well and had great service.

Our mums funeral wake was held here yesterday afternoon in the private function room. Minesh & his team provided an excellent buffet and the veggie samosas and the strawberry scones deserve a special mention. The room was well set up and the private smoking area was a fab sun trap on a lovely sunny day. We wasn’t sure what to expect but the whole set up was wonderfully and efficiently dealt with. I am more than happy to recommend this venue. The venue is located next to Birkbeck train & tram stops and a very short distance from Beckenham Crematorium.

They closed this pub down for 5 Years, shame they reopened it again, the staff are rude and aggressive, Just note how many people go in there, which is always not many, Lets just hope people get the message and stop going there and it gets closed down again. Shame ... on them I wouldnt give them time of day, let alone have my funeral there

We held the funeral wake for my mother at Graces Bar and Grill yesterday afternoon. I cannot praise Minesh and his team highly enough. We had a private function room with a bar. The staff very helpful and attentive. The buffet was very good and we were able to show photographs on the big screen via USB. The bar is just a short stroll from Beckennam Crematorium. Thank you Minesh for making a very traumatic day run smoothly.

We found this bar and grill just a long from the chapel. Firstly, be warned there is no private parking you’ll have to rely on street parking, we were very fortunate. The bar and grill is of a very reasonable size. The weather was exceptionally good for early May so we chose to eat outside under the enormous parasols it was lovely. We were a party of 10 I think if any larger I would recommend you book. The food was simple and consistently good. We had scampi, chilli jacket potatoes, chicken burger and sandwiches, all good sized portions. There is easy access for anyone with disabilities. The staff were warm & friendly. The service was good too. Recommend Many thanks

This pub has been totally modernised. It is beside Birkbeck train station and tram stop. More importantly it is the closest place to Beckenham Crematorium for gatherings after the service. It is just a 2 minute walk. There is a large function room or a smaller area off to one side of the bar for hire. We were a small funeral group (20), so the smaller area was perfect. There were enough tables and chairs for everyone. The fire was welcome after coming in from a very cold, wet day. Our buffet lunch was ready for us, all neatly presented on a long table. Unlimited tea and coffee were supplied. The main bar is close by for buying drinks. The service is excellent. The manager, Nicki, helped us to book the event and advised us on the best choices from the buffet menus for our small group. She was there on the day to replenish the hot drinks and to clear the used crockery throughout. She was a friendly presence, but did not intrude into the private event. Our party was happy with the convenience of the location and the spread provided. Loos on same level-- spotless.

The wake was for the brother of a disabled 92 year old lady. The disabled access and facilities were very good. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. A very pleasant function room, obviously recently refurbished.. The brief had been simple finger food: the sandwiches were fresh and tasty; scones with cream and jam, garnished with fresh strawberries followed. Tea and coffee were plentiful, and the jugs of lovely cold juice and water were constantly replenished. I would certainly recommend this venue, literally a five minute walk from the cemetery to anyone planning a similar function.

Highly professional service, very good food and a comfortable seating area allowed us to celebrate the life of our 92-year-old mother in a welcoming and unpretentious environment. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. A big thank you to Minesh and his staff. Best wishes. Deborah and family

We held the wake for my mother on the 17.01.2017. I can honestly say that from my first communication with Mr Patel, he couldn't have been any more helpful and supportive. The venue was excellent in a private room with our own bar. They had the facility to stream photos of mum via a USB on a large screen tv and also play our music in tribute to mum. The room just the right size. The menu choice was excellent and well presented. The bar steward we had was amazing so obliging and pleasant, nothing was to much trouble. Teas and coffee were also provided. The staff and venue were perfect and very reasonably priced. Big thank you to Mr Patel would definitely use again and Highly Recommend this establishment.

Wonderful seabass with savoury rice, prepared with passion. Coupled with extremely reasonably priced drinks and efficient and friendly service, this unpretentious pub, which shows sports and has a pool table, plus reggae and open mic, all unobtrusively, as well as having a privare events room and carering for weddings, funeral wakes, birthdays etc, more than holds its own, and more so, with any gastropub. Authentic curries are its speciality, cooked on site by family owners. A hidden gem.

My wife and I pre-booked supper here on St Patrick's night, before going to the theatre. There was a very lively atmosphere and a lot of noise! The staff on the door and inside were very friendly and polite. The restaurant was a little quieter than the bar. The brilliant violinist kindly played "Happy Birthday" for my wife. The food was nothing special but very good value for money, served promptly. Grace Bar is very convenient for many West End theatres. We would definitely return - with ear plugs!

...it's definitely worth it.We popped in here on a Monday evening and I must admit it was a tad quiet. They don't serve food on a Monday or Tuesday evening for that reason. Fair enough. What was nice was that it is large, open and airy, the front is in a conservatory style and as such feels light and airy.It has a cracking pool table, the lager was reasonable and the bar staff and folk in there were friendly, chatty & pleasant. It has a large open, grassy area out front and I can imagine it getting pretty busy in the warmer months.Helpful hint: don't go on a Monday or a Tuesday if you want food, if you're in the area and it's warm a sunny then swing by and sit outside, head here if you fancy a quick game of pool.

Really great home cooked Chicken tikea curry. One of the best I have eaten. I was pleasantly surprised as most pubs serve pre-cooked curries.Modern inside and so lacks ambience during the day. But nice lights around the bar at night.

This place is awful. Popped here with a friend who lives around the corner and was not impressed. The staff were not exactly friendly and the food was really poor. There were also people parking all over the double yellow lines outside so I can't imagine what it's like for local residents when people drive to the pub, drink and then drive off again. Won't be coming here again.

There is one other review of this venue on this site and I simply couldn't agree more. What is Graces? A Bar? Pub? Restaurant? It is none of the above. It is a total blank. The bar staff are friendly, fast and polite. A good selection of drinks, food menu is infant school level, but this could easily improve. It's the total non descript atmosphere, location, design, size and also clientele that make this place a non entity. The place took ages, possibly two years to complete. It seemed finished but didn't open for eons after it was completed. Previously it was W.E. Grace, a simple pub. Now it looks like a 1980's wine bar, but with pub furniture and glitzy toilets, but also with an area for gambling games and a pool table, all in a shroud of fairy lights. Bizarre and confusing. Food was pretty poor, unlikely I shall return.

The graces has been refurbished recently making it very nice but, to me it's confused. It's caught between being a local pub, and modern bar and a restaurant and to be honest it doesn't seem to do any very well, mainly due to the mix of clientel. Everything is ok but I can't just put my finger on what's wrong, all I know is it doesn't feel right, but well worth a drink to make your own mind up.

Oh my goodness, what has happened to this fish bar?? Used to go there every Friday before I moved away from Biggin Hill, but what a shock I had last Friday getting fish & chips for my elderly mother. Slow service with miserable faces, very dirty uniforms being worn by the staff, hair not tied back fully on one of the girls serving. Also, a very young boy helping behind the counter, which surely must be a Health & Safety concern with all the boiling fat!!! Safe to say, I won't be returning to Salisbury's Fish Bar, Main Road, Biggin Hill again :0(

This place has the potential to be a nice pub but based on my personal experience, we will sadly not be returning. It was a sunny afternoon and we decided to come to Downe Village for a nice pub lunch. I noticed there were people eating inside and nobody was seated outside. With it being a sunny day, we thought nothing of it and decided to sit in the beer garden. Within minutes of our food arriving, a black fluffy cat jumped onto the table, stuck it's bum in my face and started eating my food! I tried to shoo it off but it wouldn't budge and I'm allergic to cats. When I went inside to tell a member of staff, her response was "it lives in the garden. Just shoo it away." But it never went away so I went back inside again to tell them and it took her forever to do anything about it. By the time she came out, the cat had eaten half of my food. I appreciate there's not a lot they can do but atleast come out and pick up the cat and take it elsewhere if a paying customer complains they're allergic! Not only that, when I got home, I checked my card statement and noticed they had taken 10% service charge which wasn't shown on the receipt (only food and drinks.) I think that's rather cheeky considering there was no table service - we brought our own food, drinks, cutlery and condiments to the garden table and afterwards I even took the dirty dishes back with the cat's leftovers. A very disappointing visit.
