The Goshawk in Cheshire West and Chester

We love this pub - the food is always really high quality, the staff are super friendly and the atmosphere and decor is chilled. It’s perfect as a couple, for a family meal or a meal out with friends. And it’s dog friendly. What’s not to love!

Called at The Goshawk to take advantage of their “Supper Club menu”.The Goshawk is nestled in the beautiful Cheshire countryside . Lovely setting and surroundings , just opposite the Station . Plenty of choice on the menu , beautifully cooked and presented food at a reasonable price . Personable , friendly and helpful staff . Professional service . We had a fantastic meal and lovely relaxing time .

We've been to thr Goshawk many times. The atmosphere is always very welcoming. The food is a class above any of the other pubs in the area. Long may it continue!

Went for lunch with my wife for lunch. Food was very nice, I had the fish and chips and the batter was the best I can remember having. My wife had the steak and ale pie and that was delicious too. Staff were great and we were served by Frankie, she really looked after us well. Really enjoyed our lunch.

Excellent food and excellent service. I visited here about 5 years ago and I have to say I was extremely disappointed but I’m so glad I came for another try. Outstanding!! Excellent welcome from a great ‘Midlands’ gentleman (felt like home). I had the Sunday dinner and was awesome. My partner had the veggie curry and loved it!!! Plus to add to that we were served by Becky who was so attentive and such an excellent waitress!!!! Great value for money. Setting is lovely and quiet. A great venue and definitely going back!! We recently had a great return visit to The Goshawk. We were looked after superbly by Izzy and Dan, who were welcoming and attentive. I had a delicious Sunday roast dinner and my husband had the feta and watermelon salad , both thoroughly enjoyable. The Goshawk is in a beautiful setting , and offers great service , tasty food and good value for money - we will definitely be returning!

Upon entering I asked if I needed to book for food if so I would just have drinks. Guy behind the bar was rude and said if the tables are dressed you can’t sit there 🧐. The place was empty. I appreciate tables may have been booked but more explanation (which eventually came from the wait staff) would have helped. Food was average. Frozen chips, tinned peas and a “homemade” cheese pie with very little taste of anything let alone cheese. Expensive for what it is. Go to home baked and get a proper homemade award winning pie for far less. As for the gravy 🤢. The beer battered fish was much better quality but again sides sub par. Average pub food don’t be fooled thinking it’s anything more. Won’t be returning.

A place of delicious food which you must eat love at ALL bites. Plus there are kids plates and bigger plates .Be warned it may not sound like it tastes... but in a good way of course.

I booked this restaurant for a evening meal, as we were on holiday in the area. I was with family and my grandchildren. We arrived at 7pm to a beautiful looking restaurant and was welcomed by extremely friendly staff. Will served us that night a very knowledgeable and friendly young man. He was very accommodating to our needs and extremely helpful. The food arrived and wow we were not disappointed. It was out of this world. It’s the best meal we have all had in a very long time. We would very much like to thank all the staff for a very friendly and welcoming trip. Do go you won’t be disappointed.

We called in today for lunch at The Goshawk with my wife and sister not having visited you before. We were glad we did. We had an excellent lunch. We were met with a very friendly and accommodating front of house gentleman who showed us to our table and took our drinks order and we were well looked after by the lady who was waiting on the tables.  We really liked the building and the internal decor and the ambience of the place and our positive experience. Lovely dog friendly pub not far from Delamere forest. Large children's out door playing area. The pub does themed evenings, like pie or curry nights, but it's just as nice to have a pint in the day after a walk in the local woods.

This is the nearest pub to us and thankfully it's great. Took my son tonight for tea outside, and I had pate starter and burger for mains. The burger is done with brisket so it is quite different to your average burger.The beer is excellent too

We have been to the Goshawk several times over the years and always had a good time.Today was our first visit in over 12 months.Firstly, we received a warm welcome and were shown to our table.The service was excellent! Quite a young team working today, but so polite and courteous. We ordered the sharing Sunday lunch. It was outstanding! Lots of very tasty roast meat and a good array of vegetables. We were absolutely stuffed!! Thanks again for a wonderful meal! I went out of my way to tell the manager(?) that his staff were brilliant!

Booked a table for 6 people to celebrate my Mum’s 90th birthday. The service was haphazard and disjointed - management really need to sort this out. Despite arriving in time at 13:00, we didn’t receive our starters until 14:15 and then only 5 arrived - had to chase up the 6th. The rest of the service was really slow. We did get a refund on the starters but that is not really the point. Pull your socks up Goshawk and provide the organised service that customers were used to receiving pre-Covid.

Arranged to meet some friends for lunch, due to travel delays we were late but had informed the restaurant. They kindly still kept us a table and were patient with us when we arrived a little flustered. Food was very nice, two different portion sizes of their fish and chips with even the small portion being more than generous enough and a nice range of other options were available. The service was attentive and efficient. The outside seating space is nicely laid out and huge with most tables covered by umbrellas and the inside of the pub is very attractive.

Came on the train from Sale with 3 kids after a recommendation, we were made to wait 1hr 20 for our food, during this time we had zero updates,.When the food came the starters had obviously been sat around for a long time, the hummus had crusted over, accompanying bread was stale. I sent these dishes back only for the manager to come over and ask "I believe you sent some food back, why"...he had zero comprehension over how long we had been waiting and less than zero compassion for our wait coupled with customer service skills. He could have prevented a 1 star review by offering a free drink/desert/anything but nothing was forthcoming, he didnt even apologise for the wait nor did he even attempt to explain away the shoddy starters.Waitresses were pleasant, glorious setting, main meals were ok but the place is let down by incompetent management.

Brilliant to find a range of delicious vegan and veggie options as part of a great menu. Service was friendly and attentive, tables well spaced and everything well organised. Dog friendly. Relaxed dining in a lovely place. We will be back very soon.

On arrival the was hand sanitizer and a sign for you to wear a mask, we was taken to our table and told who our waitress was going to be within minutes she was there with a facemask on you felt very safe .We was asked for our drinks order which was served very promptly all the severs we received was very good

We visited the Goshawk last night, to meet up with friends and to enjoy the live music. The evening couldn't have gone better. The team at the Goshawk were great. We were late for our booking but this wasn't an issue. They moved us several times, to accommodate our request to view the live music whilst also allowing us to bring our dog into the pub. The food was fantastic, the venue was very relaxed and the service was second to none.

We made a booking for Thursday night for our first date night in over a year! The welcome was warm and friendly, which is so important for first impressions - all of the staff that we encountered were lovely, especially Becky, who was our server. Food was beautifully presented, plenty of it and very tasty! It was interesting to see what might have been a fairly new team member answering queries about the menu by the table next to us - he was knowledgeable and mentioned he had tried the dish in question and was able to give detailed responses! Fantastic to hear as I was wondering about the veggie banana main course as well! The manager gave us a lovely goodbye which is always appreciated. 10/10, we will definitely be popping back soon! Our second visit to The Goshawk for a family Sunday Lunch. The quality of the food is very good however it is let down by the inexperienced untrained servers who really do not know what they are doing. This is the fault of the management not the youngsters who have to do their best at guessing how to organise themselves and deal with the public. I also had to return the pint of Guinness I ordered as it tasted of the chemicals used when cleaning the beer pipes but I was still charged for it none the less.

We were in the area, myself and husband, daughter and her husband and grankids and decided to look for somewhere to eat after a great time in Delamere Forest.The Goshawk was a lovely choice.vIt was a bit chilly sitting outside but theyhad ni control over that and it worked really well under the circumstances.The food was really nice and I would highly recommend the home made cheese and onion pie. Could I suggest you consider reviewing your kids menu. The chicken nuggets were loaded with batter, maybe a small portion of a few of the adult choices?The staff were really friendly and my grandson and husband loved the football net at the back of the car park with stunning views over the valley.One word if advice, the cleanliness of the ladies toilets was unacceptable. Toilets were not clean, I'll say nor more, and the gunge around the base of the taps was really off putting, it was a build up over time and not just that day. Nothing that an hour or so of elbow grease and a squirt of domestos wouldn't sort something that should be top of the list these days.That said we will definitely return if we are in the area again.

Me and my family enjoyed the duck spring rolls, followed by a pork and turkey lunch including cauliflower cheese which was 10/10. Four for a late Sunday lunch after following one of the walks in their leaflet. I am told the fish pie was lovely. I had roast beef which had all the trimmings and was delicious. Seared on the outside and then cooked gently so still just pink in the middle. Juicy and tender. We live 20 minutes away and have eaten there many times.Standards are consistently high. Staff are friendly and efficient.

Went on Sunday and was served by Rebecca, Fi and Danny! The staff were great very attentive and welcoming. We had the roast sharing platter which was delicious and would definitely recommend.

We went for dinner to celebrate our son’s 19th birthday. Right from the start the welcome was warm and friendly and the service attentive without being overwhelming. The menu had a wide choice and without exception the food was excellent and very good value. The COVID measures were well thought out and very sensible but again without getting in the way of what was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We would. It hesitate to recommend the Goshawk to anyone looking for a very pleasant evening out - and we will definitely be back!

We called in here for a lunch and a couple of pints (half way through a day long walk) on Saturday 12th December 2020.Staff were extremely hospitable and provided great service. The food was fantastic and I cannot recommend the Goshawk in Mouldsworth highly enough. Have used in the past and will definately be using again in the future.

A most wonderful little pub/restaurant hidden in the heart of the village of Mouldsworth in beautiful Cheshire Countryside. A very welcoming log fire on a cold December day. The staff were very welcoming and attentive and the food was excellent. Great ambience and first class Covid process such that my wife and I, both in our 70's, felt completely safe.. Highly recommended.

Brilliant lunch here the other day. They’ve made great efforts to keep everything safe at this time. The food is delicious, my husband and I couldn’t decide on just two starters as they all sounded so good and were very happy with our three! Lovely ambience and staff. Such a great pub.

We called in here after a trip to Delamere forest this pub is a ten minute drive away. We arrived to late for their lunch offer but still had two great meals and desserts.The pub is fully Covid safe and is lovely and cosy inside. Food and staff are great.

Went for the Cosy Lunch for £15 for 3 courses. All 3 courses were great for flavour, quality and quantity. Great value for money, and seated by a log fire, with full Covid stuff. Friendly staff and good service. Will be BACK!!!!

We cam win today for lunch and we sat down whilst we waiting for someone to come to us, Jack stood at the till and didn't speak! My friend had to speak to him first, he mumbled alot and I really struggled to hear him. We asked what the soup and the pie were for the day. He came back still looking miserable and mumbled what they were, he said the pie of the day was chicken and ham, my friend is Jewish and for religious reasons she can't eat any form of pork so I asked nicely if there was a possibility of swapping to a none pork based pie and he said there were 2 other pies available but she couldn't have them and if she wanted them she would have to pay the full price on the menu.During this conversation I asked if we could move tables because the table we were sat at was very small, we moved to another table in a different part of the pub. Just before we moved he just stood there and I had to say do you wnat us to follow you? He is very rude and has horrific customer service skills!We sat down and the 2 family members i was with wanted to leave because of him, they couldn't believe how rude he was! Luckily at that moment the AMAZING Ffion came round the corner to take our orders! I've seen Ffion before, she has always been so welcoming and chatty. If it wasn't for her then you would have had 3 customers go elsewhere! We are so glad we stayed! The food was incredible!!!! We had the 3 courses for £15.I had the soup, the pie and the Eton mess, the other 2 had the prawns, the steak qnd the Eton mess.I have never seen so many prawns before! Absolutely loads of them! The soup was sooo nice!My pie was absolutely lovely and very big! The 2 steaks were cooked perfectly!Eton mess- incredible.Ffion worked so hard and she is so polite! She deserves a huge bonus!! Popped in for lunch, not been for couple of years but heard had changed hands so wanted to try again. Delicious food, my seabass was excellent, my husband had the chicken, it was also excellent. We both had Eton mess for pud, scrummy! Ambience is lovely as ever, cosy country pub with blazing fire. Service was friendly, a little slow but we didn't mind as it was nice just taking our time and enjoying the atmosphere.

We booked to watch the live music.We ate and it was absolutely delicious.We drank and took advantage of fizz Friday.The whole night was a fantastic experience.The staff were great and chatted and joked.The premises was extremely clean and very warm decor and atmosphere.The toilets were spotless. We stayed in Mouldsworth for 4 nights & The Goshawk was recommended to us. We decided to eat here on our 2nd evening and we were so impressed that we booked again. Fantastic food & service. All the staff were friendly & helpful and were clearly following the current safety rules. The food was delicious, piping hot & extremely tasty. We would definitely visit here again, our only disappointment is that The Goshawk isn’t closer to our home.

I asked the waiter what the pie of the day was and he said it was fish pie served with chips peas and gravy, a very strange combination. However the waiter returned and said that fish pie had run out and it was now steak pie so I ordered steak pie. When the steak pie arrived it was a dish of stewed meat with the topping from the fish pie on it ie mashed potato covered with cheese, together with the chips peas and gravy. Very strange and not very enjoyable! The table we had was very close to other tables and not very safe. We won't be rushing back.

We have been a few times over the last few months after staying away for a few years. The food has always been excellent. The last time we went we had the Sunday lunch platter. It was well cooked and the portions were huge.The staff were(as always)friendly and service was quick and attentive. Great atmosphere with the fire burning at the moment would recommend for excellent comfort food.

Every time I visit this pub I am constantly impressed. I have been visiting now for around 5 years and every visit is a delight .JW Lees’ recruitment policy is outstanding as every employee is professional and personable whether it is Danny the manager (who btw even remembers my dog’s name) or the delightful young people that work the tables.A friend tells me Sunday lunch is superb so that’s next on the list.

Beautiful pub with a roaring fire. We had the Sunday lunch. The food was really poor quality. I suppose we should have mentioned it but we were put off by the I’ll fitting face visors of some of the staff, at one point I could feel the breath of the waiter/ manager on my face. the last thing we wanted was to enter into further dialogue. We just won’t go back.

Wonderful countryside location with open fire and friendly staff. We had the Sunday Platter which I’m sad to say defeated us and we weren’t able to partake in dessert. Friendly staff who really made an effort and good COVID procedures, wearing masks/constantly wiping tables and touch points made us feel safe. Would recommend and will be returning.

Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon while we were half way through a long walk on the sandstone trail. The staff were very accommodating despite us not having a booking, tables were clean and spaced out which gave us peace of mind. Our server was really friendly, the food was delicious and a lovely cosy atmosphere. Already decided we’ll visit again for a roast!

As we were unable to go away for our 55th anniversary we decided instead to have a late lunch at the Goshawk.We were greeted warmly by Danny who took all the appropriate safety steps and showed us to our table.It was sad to see thar the usual warm and friendly fire wasn't aglow in the fireplace.We ordered steak Pie and cheese pie,the pastry was delicious but I didn't like the flavour of the seaded mustard in the cheese pie,I don't remember it in the pie on previous visits.We had extras of collyflower cheese and battered onions both delicious.We finished with Eaton Mess which we both enjoyed down to the last spoonful.It wasn't very busy but each customer was greeted in a friendly manner by Danny who explained to those wanting only a drink that they had to take everyone's details in the present circumstances.This was handled so professionally that no one complained and all gave details without a fuss.I was very impressed by the way she interacted with all of the customers.
