What have I been missing all these years by not eating at a Chatwins⁉️ The freshly made Chicken, Bacon & Spring Onion on Focaccia was simply delicious. Great, friendly service as well; modest price increase for eating in. 30 mins free parking if you’re lucky enough to find a space.

Nice food but very rude staff. Felt like I was an inconvenience to them. Hardly acknowledged me and had a very abrupt manner in serving. Not the kind of service I'd expect at all. If you can tolerate that the food is fine Still consistently rude as if they don't want you to be there two months later. It's a shame because it's a nice location and the food is good

Great bread, pies, pasties and cakes

Order things from there as I'm bedridden one of the assistants I think her name is Katie is always very pleasant and helpful when I ring.

Great little cafe, sausages on the full hit breakfast bap were absolutely delicious. You should sell them for home cooking.

Friendly staff. Clean seating area and toilet spotless. Can get busy at mealtimes.

Will never go here ever again and I live 5 minute walk away I walked in nobody waiting as I'm stood there being ignored by ALL members of staff when noise goes off for just eat machine member of staff who I think was the manager said wow this is a big order I'm still being ignored then a lady walks in stands next to me for 2 minutes then walks over to cafe side I'm still being ignored then after another couple of minutes a young member of staff walks out the same lady dealing with just eat order asks her to serve lady who had come in after me young staff member comes back says she wants a bacon batch which what I wanted if I'd been asked nearly 10 minutes earlier only to be told all the bacon is for just eat order which came in after I was waiting at this point I said this is a joke and WILL never go back there surely you look after customer in shop as to someone who books online so never again will I go to ANY chatwin shop

Order through just eat bacon batch n onions it arrived cold and rock hard burnt to a crisp onions batch itself dry .How csm you send out disgusting food don't bother wasting your monet

Ordered via Just eat. Half order is missing. Called Chatwins who said ‘yeah the rest of the order is on the counter, just contact Just Eat for a refund.’ Ok thanks for that, I didn’t want to eat anyway. Made up to have paid £4 in delivery and service charges for a Coffee. Great value.

Asked for a brown toasties, got a white batch, Had to have it remade

Really hit and miss. Always seems to be only one member of staff serving despite there being several others around not doing very much, this result in long waits. Food is always exceptional quality however the sandwich you get varies hugely depending on which member of staff has made it. Both sandwiches ordered today were so sparsely filled that unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be returning.

3 staff on at 10am on a Wed. No greeting. No smiles. The wait was really long. No breakfast menu on view. Dirty floor. 1st and last visit. Very expensive.

Potion size in sandwich poor. May as well just be eating bread. Staff constrained by head office with portion sizes. Will not return as there are better portions at other cafe and sandwich places in Hoole. Staff are friendly but have their hands tied.

Very nicely presented cafe and clean! Asked for a breakfast but was told i can but only on a barm. My breakfast barm came , the egg hard and it was cold.

Visited this cafe week last Wednesday with two of my good friends. Have to say it was shockingly bad to see the toilets in such a torrid, unhygienic state. There were that bad my friend could use them, plus absolutely nothing available that is gluten free - a very poor experience.

Some of the ladies who work here are so passive aggressive! It’s like they’re annoyed they’re having to serve you at all. There’s one that storms around and huffs and puffs and when I came in a Christmas she threw food at the wall “aiming for the bin”. She was also exceptionally rude to a very elderly lady a few days ago which prompted this review. The lady walked to the front and asked if she could sit down and order, the poor woman was barked at to get in the queue and another customer even offered to order something for her to help. I don’t really know what to say, normally it’s customers who are the rude ones. 3 stars because the turkey sandwiches and steak pies are always on point. It’s the manners that are missing.

You are just not allowed to relax here. I bought my stuff, then sat down. Staff member comes up to me to say it costs extra to sit down. I wasn't told this at the counter and basically got told to leave. I wasn't even offered if I wanted to pay the extra which is what really did it for me. As Chatwins is in Hoole, or 'Notting-Hoole' as it is locally known as, people do expect more when it comes to customer service. This is why I contacted their Head Office with my concerns about customer service in here and I simply just don't go in anymore.

Lovely location and premises. The food is way above the quality you'd usually get in similar places. And the staff are lovely - welcoming and friendly whilst also being very professional. Highly recommended.

Lovely buttys from there. Nice staff. Hot an cold food to choose from very clean. Sit in or take away.. has decent coffee here too. Wheelchair access. Next to othe shops.. free parking is limited . Altho a pay car park is just through the alley way.

I had the turkey carvery bap-delicious! It was Thanksgiving in August!Then a fruit danish for dessert- it was Christmas in August!

Terrible service. I’ve been a few times now and each time I think “why do I come back!?” One member of staff loudly shouted “the cafe is closed” (despite their hours indicating otherwise) while I had a sleeping baby and just wanted a cake and a relax!

Ham salad batch with one thin slice of ham £3.50. According to management this is the correct size portion. Bland and tasteless. Better sandwich shops within walking distance.

Me and my boyfriend went into Chatwins after a walk around Hoole as we thought we would get a snack and a drink. The service was absolutely terrible and the manager wasn’t friendly or helpful at all. We were served by a lovely lady I believe was called Kay and she was very helpful with picking out our food and drinks. We also went into the toilet and found it to be very unkept and dirty, we mentioned this to the manager and she didn’t seem too bothered by it. Terrible! Will not be going again.

Great mince pies and pork and apple slices, however on several occasions the apple has been missing. Pre-covid the staff were helpful and would resolve it, but staff are certainly not as friendly and they now have limited opening hours. Feel a bit jibbed when paying for a pork and apple slice to essentially receive a sausage roll...

Cutlery and glasses were filthy. Tables were still dirty despite the place being empty. Food was deeply average and overpriced for what it was. Just grubby.

Friendly staff .good food and cleanliness is 100% can get a bit busy if you catch it at the wrong time .

Don't bother ordering or going in after 3pm, the food has gone freezing cold and stale, despite being open for another 2 hours!! Pork and apple pasty entirely cold, rock hard and had no apple inside. They both went in the bin. Such terrible service to serve food that is not fresh. This is the second time we have had this issue.

Toast was dry... coffee was nice

The place was empty, the staff asked me to put a mask on , the food selection looked poor and the drinks were warm... apart from that everything was fine ! If they carry on like this,they'll be bankrupt within 6 months .

Great home cooked food ... would highly recommend ..take out or sit in .

Overpriced and poor value, and always get the feeling I've been ripped off every time I buy a hot sandwich. Cold sandwiches are fine, but why ration the hot food, chatwins? I suppose it's my own fault for continuing to go back in, but I only do so because of the convenience of being able to park outside, and this place isn't anywhere as busy as it used to be so I don't have to queue

The take away hot food is massively overpriced and expensive for what you get, and really not that high quality. I was charged £4.20 for 2 shriveled up slices of dried out bacon and what amounted to 1.5 mushrooms on a tiny barm. Time to stop taking the mickey now chatwins or people will go to the equally expensive Peak sandwiches across the road where you get double the amount of food

I went for a sandwich as I was walking past on Saturday at 13:45. The women behind the counter with brown hair was more interested in cleaning up and going home than serving me. They only allow 3 in the shop and so I couldn’t see the menu while waiting. when I walked in she asked what I wanted and so I said could I have one minute to read the menu as I couldn’t see from outside. She huffed and said whatever I’ll carry on then. There was no queue outside at the time and then her colleague ended up serving me. Who was fairly pleasant but I won’t be returning. It really irritates me when you get the impression they feel they are doing you a favour by simply doing their job.

Your a high St cafe not the ritz I mean over £4 for a sausage and egg barn. Ridiculous prices

Visited here for brunch after Chester 10km with a few couple of friends. We all had the full English breakfast. Toast, tomato, beans, sausage, egg and bacon (see my photo) - £6.95 + tea at £2. You had to order at the counter and the breakfast would be served to you at the table. The food was pretty standard fare to be honest, the sausages were pretty forgetful, however the brown doorstep sized bread was lovely! It really did bring the breakfast up a notch. Not bad value for brunch, but wouldn't be hurrying back soon. I do hear, however the roast beef baguette and the Copenhagen pastry are to die for!

Experience spoilt by disgusting WC.

When you order a hot chocolate you expect it to have chocolate in. it was like drinking hot milk also the pork and apple all pastry wont be going back but there cakes are always nice

I visit on a regular basis with my family, lots of staff providing a good level of service. Lots of choice, not the cheapest sandwich shop/bakery around but good quality food at a reasonable price.

Not a usual stop for me and my lad while out cycling but we ended up in here. Cheese and onion toastie was pretty decent with plenty of cheese. Had a rolo cup cake too which was nice. The latte and hot chocolate were ok too. A little pricier than a usual cafe stop at £18.20 for the two of us to eat...

First visit and really enjoyed it. We had breakfast baps which were freshly prepared and the egg was nice and runny just how I like it.

You have to try a savoury roll they are amazing

Young dark haired lad working is lazy and moody, does everything to a minimum and doesn't even cut the sausages he just puts them on the gap so they roll off. his jacket potatoes are a joke and I'll be walking straight out if he's behind the counter again.

Few issues i.e. The toilet was out of order and the coffee machine was broke but friendly staff comfy seats and good food. Would definitely recommend.

Went in for a cuppa and a bacon roll , the cutlery wad dirty , the bacon you could of used as shoe leather and the price was disgusting, £12 .40 for something you could not eat.

Very long wait for food and drink had to chase our order twice other customers equally.frustrated. Mainly young staff completely lacking in organisation and basic food hygiene. Staff were handling money , clearing tables etc then handling food without either washing their hands or wearing gloves.

Waited ages for drinks, friend had to go and ask in the end, then food came out about 10 minutes after this. Staff not wearing any gloves to prepare food, neither washing their hands, no organisation, very young staff not knowing what they were doing, they were going straight from till to preparing food without washing their hands or wearing gloves. Food was lovely but very very disappointed. Myself and my husband have been here on a number of occasions in the week and not had a problem. Staff need retraining in health and hygiene.

I have to say that this was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had,well cooked and presented,good quality produce,staff very efficient and friendly,lovely clean restaurant and toilets,on this visit I couldn’t fault the place!

We often nip here on a Saturday morning for a roast bap or a full English bap. The staff are so nice and helpful and the food is absolutely bang on. Would highly recommend for a treat

My wife and I popped in for tea and a cake,both chose a fresh cream apple turnover which tbh was absolutely amazing! Lovely friendly staff nice and clean shop!

Chatwins is always a nice place to have a chat with either tea or coffee and the food is very tasty indeed. Good cafe to stop and refuel..would highly recommend this place .

Great little bakery / cafe. Newly refurbished and very modern and clean. Great selection of fresh food. Only holding back a star as the coffee is great but they don't so any non dairy milk options which lets it down. The breakfast baps are great, the quality of the ingredients shines tjorugh

Really poor customer service today. Staff were abrupt and had to be asked to clean table. Only one high chair available

One star at most! A cheese and onion toastie that was mostly inedible! Much more onion than cheese, and a really strong onion that clearly no one in the kitchen has tested. At more than £8 for that and a coffee it must be the most expensive inedible lunch in Chester!

What a treat ? My team and I enjoyed fabulous food here this morning , though a little bit pricier than our usual breakfast fare worth every penny. Belly pork slow roasted to perfection on a bap with stuffing and apple sauce mmm! Sausages in here are a real treat too. Their coffee and teas are of the same high standards eat in or takeaway you are assured of the same high standards from their warm and welcoming staff. Top treat on the go !

Comfortable, open early and a good quality feed for breakfast. I found it expensive but tasty. On a sunday morning when there's not much choice, it's a life saver.

Everytime I go in here I have to make sure it is quiet. As a business the customer should be the priority, yet here, they have lots of staff doing other jobs and serving the customer seems to be an annoying break from their duties.

I often come here for a coffee with some friends and it's a great place to sit and chat for a while. Good service and they also offer great snacks such as hot sausage rolls and delicious cakes

Better than Costa, Gregg's and Pub Food all together. Beautiful inside and fantastic food and drinks. Good kids meals too.

Popped in here for a cup of tea and a breakfast roll, which was of good quality, the service I received was great, I was offered the Wi-Fi password which was great.

Went for breakfast here this morning after having awful service at another cafe yesterday.

I drop in here with the kids now and then for a sandwich, sausage roll or a cake when we are on the high street. The food is always really nice but it is a little pricey. The hot batches are really tasty. The seating area is big and always kept clean and tidy. Staff are friendly. Never had a problem here.

For a place that seems to see it's self as a kind of expensive, upmarket Greggs this doesn't cut the mustard; It's dirty with food on the seats and floor and unclean cutlery (yuck!). The staff also seem a bit miserable.
