Went to give a short talk to a group of friends. Worked out pretty well. Everyone had, and enjoyed their brunch. The coffee is excellent too. The added bonus is that the bread for sale is about as good as it gets. The place has a good atmosphere and a good ethos - long may it prosper.

I thought I'd written a review, but I'm not sure I finished it, so this might be a duplication. Apologies if so. But this place is utterly brilliant and I wanted to make sure I'd said that. The food is lovely, tasty, healthy, reasonably priced, all delivered by very nice, efficient staff, who were all very smiley. I thoroughly recommend it.

Visited today for a late breakfast/early lunch. It was the first day the cafe was open I believe since lockdown, although they have done a fantastic job throughout these difficult times with deliveries and click and collect. We were rather concerned as there is no outdoor space and as a couple in our 60’s have been very cautious throughout lockdown. However today was a very positive experience. All staff were very pleasant, as always and the food delicious, again as always. But the changes made to adhere to covid safety regulations were evident and the whole experience felt totally ‘safe’. Well done to you all.

I have been here before. The varied menu is good. The town centre location is superb and it is a very nice, comfortable, clean place to be .I placed my order and was given a numbered spoon to put in the jam jar on my table. It has to be said that I was the only customer and that remained the case for around 5 minutes until two more customers came in and placed their order and sat at a table. My order still hadn't arrived and it was surprising when the two people who arrived after me received their food. Two or three minutes later, my order arrived. It occurred to me that had the two staff at the servery concentrated on their jobs instead of gossiping, this might not have happened. To compound this, the two other customers had exactly the same meal as I did so there are no excuses. I won't be going here again as there are plenty of competitors who serve the customer better

I have been going to the goodloaf for sometime now, it must be good as I keep going back. I visited today with a couple of friends. As usually the coffee is really good. The flat white is much better than those served at the well know chain restaurants. Limited cake selection today, but I would put that down to this Christmas period. As a reference my son will always choose the lemon cake when he is here. Great selection of breads on offers to buy but get there early as the best ones (marmite) go quicker. The only reason I give it four instead of five is that in recent months service has not been as great e.g. clearing tables, water carafes filled. Only a minor point. What I think is great is the opportunities it provides for vulnerable women.

We chose the Good Loaf already knowing that their bread and cakes are sublime, combined with the fact they support vulnerable women to get back to employment and build confidence. The buffet was delivered promptly at the time we had asked for, all packaged so nothing got squashed in transit and also easy to lay out for serving. The rolls were full to the brim with filling and the cakes and pastries were delicious. Needless to say at the end of the night we had absolutely no food left despite ordering for more people than attended. Everyone commented on the food and had at least 3 cakes each. Great value, Great service, Highly Recommended.

As we were there later most of the stuff had been sold.We managed to order two toasties, one halloumi and pepper and one chicken and bacon and had two hot drinks and two pecan and whites chocolate blondes which all tasted lovely. The toilets were not great and need attention, as these could put you off but the service and food was good.

It didn't disappoint - with gluten free cakes they can be very stodgy but this was amazing. I ordered a coffee as well. Having been to the Overstone Road original on a number of occasions I visited the latest venture on a grey April morning. Firstly the good points. The bacon and egg sandwich and americano I had were both excellent and if I had just scored the food it would have been 5 stars but there are some areas for definite improvement. Firstly, and given the location this may sound strange, but I found it quite soulless. Secondly, and off greater concern was the state of tables, none of which were clean or indeed cleaned while I was there. I know it has only been open a few weeks and I thoroughly support the aims and aspirations behind the venture and hope the little tweaks required can be made so I give 5 stars next time I visit.

I had a "Ranch Toastie " at £4.50 which included a side of homemade coleslaw. I could'nt fault the food in any way, really generous filling and lovely bread. My friend was equally impressed as she is going through a round of Chemotherapy and did'nt really feel like eating very much . We came here for lunch with our 8 month old as we’d not been since I was pregnant. We were treated to an incredible lunch and the staff were so lovely and particularly kind to my baby - which she loved! We love the ethos of The Good Loaf and what it’s doing for all of our community. The team should be so proud of their continual achievements. I had the pastrami sandwich and my husband has the ranch chicken sandwich, both were incredible. The coleslaw however was to die for! I don’t think it was the same coleslaw as our last visit, this was the best coleslaw I’ve ever eaten in my life - I don’t like it normally as I find it tasteless. But the waitresses said to me that the team use a special mayo that they sell to take home too, and that day the coleslaw had been made by Maria - I hope I come back again on a day Maria has been in! We spied some peanut butter cakes on our way out whilst chatting to the ladies and they were lovely that evening! It would be great to advertise that people with prams can use the service lift to get up as I’m sure it will mean that more people will come as you offer a serene place for all, including the youngest of our community!

I am really sad to have to give a 1 star review to The Good Loaf. I have visited several times before with friends and family and have always had brilliant food and service. Today I booked a Mother's Day afternoon tea as a treat for myself my daughter, mum and nan. We sat down and a single stand of food was brought out this consisted of 1 scone split in two, 2 slices of brownie, a shop brought cupcake, 2 shop brought hot cross buns and 5 finger rolls, 3 filled with cheap ham and 2 filled with tuna and sweetcorn. We were not offered any drinks even though these were supposed to be included in the afternoon tea for £12.50 a head. When I queried what had been brought out I was offered a couple of more rolls and some cake. This was not what I expected. The cakes and bread are normally made in the cafe and the fillings are normally good quality meats. We were very disappointed and chose to leave rather than be robbed. We were unable to find anywhere else to have afternoon tea today because everywhere was fully booked. A sad and frankly disappointing attempt by The Good Loaf. I do not think we will be returning again.

Lovely and airy on a hot day. Posh fizzy ginger beer and delicious cakes - the first place in Northampton that I have found Portugese custard tarts. They were amazing. Will definitely return and dare I say become a regular.

This is a fantastic concept which seems to be social enterprise. It is cafe and bakery and a little off the beaten track but worthy of a visit. The bread they sell is pretty good - not cheap but sometimes you want quality over low cost. It is a very good venture and very clean.

This place was okay but I wouldn't come back. The staff were quite inattentive and were all talking to family members at the cash register so I couldn't put my order in for a while. The only real breakfast option was a bacon roll. Bit of a shame, it was a nice bacon roll but I could do it at home. Would definitely recommend the brownie & the setting was nice too.

Great place for brunch with family, food is good and reasonably priced and kid friendly. Plenty of choice for breakfast or lunch all day and of course great bread. Worth hunting this venue out as it's a bit off the beaten track.

This place has become something of a second home to myself and friends who bring our children of all ages for lunch regularly. As a large venue with plenty of comfy seats it's relaxing and spacious. The food is awesome, soup, salads and sandwiches all served in the freshest bread, they frequently have specials. They serve delicious cakes too! The staff are lovely and always make an effort to check we're ok. I can't rate the good loaf highly enough, keep up the fantastic work ladies!

I am fussy and hate sauces, additives etc and this restaurant hits the button. I never ever eat coleslaw - The Good Loaf's is home made, not too stodgy and quite delicious. The food is light, beautifully cooked and the coffee is very very good. The bread is superb and other cafes serve it too - including Bartellas down the road but would say the food here is far superior to any other served in Northampton.

Friends and I had the opportunity to visit the Good Loaf for lunch in March 2017. The restaurant is located in an obscure part of Northampton on the upper level of a former industrial site. Once inside, its eclectic modern vibe welcomes guests to but a variety of made fresh daily baked goods or make use of ample seating for a sit down meal. I enjoyed the Customer Selection sandwich and a bowl of mint pea soup with a flat white. The sandwich was amazing. The sour dough bread light, fresh and flavourful. The toppings and meats fresh and properly at room temperature. It was by far the best sandwich I have had in years. The soup was hearty and tasty, too!Upon leaving, friends and I also purchased baked goods, including a loaf of sour dough bread, tarts and scones. Amazing all around. I highly recommend diverting to come here and will definitely be back.

Very few people know about this gem. About 20 met here on a cold winter morning before a walking tour. Very hospitable staff, have some banter. With huge number they got orders correct. Most had bacon Sarmiento, some with egg. Everyone happy. The issues are - it's upstairs and parking - try opposite, means a detour on one way but worth it. It's a charitable venue so you're doing good too. Challenge you - bet you buy a cake (e.g. Malteser slice) or bread to take away!

We have never stayed here, but go here regularly for food. The restaurant is very good, with a large number of tables. The food has always been tasty, with a very good Sunday lunch available.

Best Fish and chip shop in the area. Great service, and you can have a pint of beer while you wait.

Loved these fish and chips. They were super tasty and not at all greasy. The only downside is that you have to pay by cash but you can get cash back at the Wheatsheaf. You can also eat your chips at the pub too!
