Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had, tasteless fish in hard overcooked batter and cold hard chips. Mushy peas weren’t even mushy!

I know times are hard and that but come on haha 3.80 for that.

Fish and chips where excellent, batter was crispy and fish was cooked exceptionally well. Service is always amazing and friendly.

Honestly some of the worst fish and chips I have had for a long time. The chips were super greasy and a lot were raw and hard. The fish was crispy on top but totally soggy underneath. Service was ok to order, but when we collected the order and enquired about sauce we were told we had to pay for it and to rejoin the long queue with hot food in bag! Surely this could have been explained when we ordered as we don't come from that area and had not been there before or the person we asked could have just sorted it for us. The meal was honestly awful and I hate leaving a bad review but when we brought SEVEN meals for fifty quid we expected something that we could eat, sadly most of it went in the bin. Waste of money.

Awful food, over priced, small portions, strange opening times gutted it’s not the good catch anymore. Bring back the good catch let’s loose the cow!

The service was quick and the staff was really nice. However I ordered the Cheesy chips. The chips it self was quite nice. The cheese tastes off and like dish soap. I don’t really like the cheese. It doesn’t taste like real cheese and the Portion size is ridiculous. Large tray but small chips and charged me £4.20!!

ordered takeaway from here food was disgusting chips was hard not cooked and fish was soggy after paying for a box standards have slipped this used to be the best won’t be coming here no more i complained to staff and they just wasn’t bothered not a good catch for me

When it was the Good Catch, it was fantastic, now that it's called the Good Catch and Cow it is terrible. They no longer do gluten-free Mondays and Tuesdays and you now have to spend a £5 minimum in the restaurant to get anything! Terrible business model. Bye-bye

Such beautiful batter, tasty curry sauce, great chippy - well worth putting to the top of your list!

We have used this chippy as one of our local regular for years… but today I realised something terrible has happened here. The chips were undercooked and near raw. They tasted strange and when we asked the lady what they were cooked in, she told us it was beef oil. She then went in to wax lyrical about the health benefits of beef fat and how good it is for the planet (and as a final point she added ‘oh and it’s cheaper..’) That explained the foul taste of the chips of course. Also the place stank of meat and no longer smelt like a chippy. Also, the new layout makes it really cramped and so it’s extra hard to move past the new clientele of extra wide ‘cow’ aficionados standing round salivating over beef burgers being cooked. Plus the new staff seem incredibly miserable now- where’s the old crew all gone!? Where’s Gareth?! All in all- we will be boycotting this place now. The old adage of ‘if it ain’t broke- don’t fix it’ applies here in spades. Such a shame that a winning chippy has been so wrecked and turned into a burger bar. Very disappointed. Crosby resident.

Staff extremely friendly, happy Food very good however visiting litherland good catch with my 89yr old aunt she lives almost opposite she gets a special fish chips peas for £6.50. Good catch crosby don't do this. Yet when questioning this at crosby was told different clientele (meaning crosby people can pay more !!! Not very fair special should be served at all shops. I buy for a disabled couple too each week in crosby pretty sure they would like a special fish chips peas for £6.50

Don’t go here if you’re veggie, vegan or pescatarian. They now cook everything in beef fat.

I use this Chippy regularly and have never had a bad meal. But tonight was the best ever lightly battererd Haddock and Chips absolutely superb. The fish is really fresh and the service friendly and efficient. Highly recommend

Absolutely disgusting! I so wish I’d read the recent reviews.. greasy, under cooked chips which tasted very strange and left us all feeling ill. We are local and often nip into the Good Catch for a quick dinner, but I can honestly say never again.

We've tried this place a couple of times while visiting family, and it was surprisingly good. I personally really enjoyed the chicken burger. Contrary to most places, the chicken was very juicy and not dry at all. Burgers and fish and chips are also great. Very nice staff too.

This used to be an excellent fish and chip shop but the last two meals we had from the re-vamped shop have been dreadful. Standards have dropped through the floor. Chips were the right colour but raw inside, fish massively overcooked and ended up straight into the bin. I always give a business a second chance before leaving a negative review but we will not be visiting the Catch and Cow again.

I felt like a burger so thought I’d give the good catch a visit! Possibly the best beef burgers I’ve tried for a reasonable price as well! Great service as well :)

Had fish and chips wasn’t cod which we asked for staff were not very friendly and the food was disgusting worst fish and chips I’ve ever had won’t be going there again. It used to be good.

Disappointing experience all round. We travelled here and arrived to find out they were not open as advertised. When they did answer the phone they were very rude. They lost out on several meals #worstcatch #poorexperience #neveragain

Really disappointed, asked for a fresh lightly battered fish and was served a luke warm fish from the oven. If your asking for a specific type of fish make sure you watch them put it into the fryer then into your box otherwise you will be served a fish from the oven.

We found this chip shop few weeks ago, it was good. Went today for fish and chips. Awful. The fish looked like it had been triple cooked and the chips not peeled or cooked properly. Won't be going again

It was a good fish and chips. It's a bit pricey, and they don't do kids' meals, which is probably why it felt expensive. Especially with us having two of them.

After double-checking on Google, I drove from Toxteth to Crosby for fish and chips. After telling my visitors how great the food usually is, I was extremely disappointed to find the place closed. Lights were on inside but no-one answered the phone. Poor. Disappointing. They have Facebook so could have posted on that platform to tell prospective customers that they were closed.

Staff are super friendly and very welcoming, service was fast and efficient. Food is delicious and freshly cooked, wide variety of food. Definitely recommended.

The staff are lovely and have a good menu selection. I bought fish, chips and mushy peas. The chips were perfect chippy chips. The peas were cold but good. The fish was disappointing, the batter was good and cooked well but the cod itself was tasteless.

Got food from this place for the first time this evening. Largely stuck to cod and chips, though one of the party had a pie. Everyone was pleased and said so. The fish, in particular, was well received and you absolutely can't fault the size of them. Staff were friendly and courteous to customers even though they were kept very busy by the sheer number of people joining the queue - obviously very popular here.

Always had great food but went yesterday for 3 cod and chips, won’t be going back as the chips were bits and the fish was burnt and tasted like they had been cooked in old oil.

We visited this takeaway after attending a match at Marine FC. The fish was freshly cooked, the portion sizes were great and the taste was fabulous. All served by very friendly staff. Worth a visit

The chicken nuggets and chips are sexy

My grandchildren's half term lunch treat was a chippy. This is not cheap anymore. This was the third time we have been given reheated chips. Nobody enjoyed them. I have been to your Freshfield, Litherland and Liverpool shops, and never once have been given reheated chips. They are horrible and spoil the meal. Please Crosby branch stop this practice.

Great fish and chips and potato scallops. It's in a pedestrian zone so ignore Google maps telling you it's possible to drive up outside, use the Sainsburys car park behind and walk through the covered ginnel.

Simple the best take away chippy that I’ve ever been too. Utterly delicious fish and chips. Onion rings were also top!!! Can’t wait to return.

This is the best chip shop in the area by far. Fish is cooked when ordered rather than being cooked and stored. You can request lightly battered. The fish is also very well cooked. They offer gluten free on Monday and Tuesday and sometimes beer battered. The chips are equally delicious. I highly recommend it.

I got some chicken bites which were great but the chips were basically raw. Not good

the worst fish and chips I have ever had. It was drenched in oil, so clearly sitting for a while and then stuck back in the oil to reheat. Was absolutely gutted, what a waste of money. Would have gone back, but they had already closed. Couldn't even eat it, so bad it ended up in the bin.

Can only say absolutely 💯 this chippy is a must if you don't then yiu don't know what yoy have missed 😉 xx

I've been going this place for literal years, however the quality has gone so low! Batter was so thick on the fish and found a bone which is understandable but quite care free.

Each to we go to Crosby beach we come here at the end of the day for our chippy tea. It's not often we come as we live in Manchester but to be honest it's the best chippy in the area. Very friendly staff. The food is really tasty, lots of flavour, good prices, and they are very good with allergens. They do gluten free days too and when we went last, was told Thier batter is dairy free so big thumbs up if you struggle for places to eat with gluten or dairy tolerance/allergy

A portion of scampi, with a small portion of chips. Not difficult. I live 1 minute walk from the shop. Got home, found soggy white chips and over done scampi. Both freezing cold. I would have expected them to at least be warm, being how close I live to the shop!..£6.20 for the lot! Disgraceful attempt at fast food/takeaway. I will be going elsewhere in future. There are several outlets near my home that at least make sure their food is hot before serving it, and I can walk home and serve it still hot, at a much more reasonable cost. Don't go here! Support a local business instead of this over rated franchise!

We visited Liverpool from the North East for a few days and fancied decent fish and chips. We visited here after reading several reviews stating these were the best in the area. Both were a little disappointed to be honest. The shop was lovely and clean, and the staff were spot on. The food wasn't very good though. The chips weren't bad, the mushy peas were very salty, but the fish was the biggest let down. The portion was pretty small, the batter was overdone and it was a bit greasy. Thought it was overpriced for what we received. It feels like we're maybe spoilt in the North East. Struggle to find any to compete.

As a Yorkshire resident, I am used to decent fish and chips. Sadly, wherever I have been on Merseyside, I have been let down by the mediocre quality of the food offered. Despite several recommendations, I have been let down again. The fish portion was tiny, the batter soggy and as for the turgid, white, greasy, starchy mass masquerading on the menu as "chips", I took one mouthful, then jettisoned them in the bin... Please, residents of Liverpool, where can I buy a decent, appealing and good value portion of fish and chips? I'm running out of options...

Ordered over the phone for collection, food was good & hot but needed more salt & vinegar. They only fry in vegetable oil so suitable for pescatarians/vegetarians.

My little boy is nearly 5 and since he was little we have gone here and ordered sausage,chips and curry. Many times the chips are under cooked and the sausage overcooked. Today we have been in for our tea and I noticed the large portion of chips had increased from £2.95 to £3.05. I was disgusted when I got home to see the portion of chips I had, it was never a large portion and now they are charging more. I won't be going back again, it's just not worth it.

Absolutely perfect fish and chips, pleasant staff and didn't have to wait too long for fresh fish to be cooked. Could do with some outside seating - which is why I've only given it 4*. Food was excellent 👌

Great fish and chip shop with the usual cod, haddock etc but also some slightly more unusual dishes like salt and pepper squid. All really good quality, not greasy, freshly made and decent portions. Pleasant staff and the girl on the till is very efficient but talks at the rate of knots so you have to listen carefully!

Absolutely awful. Visited today as the Formby one has good reviews so hopefully as it is a chain it would be the same. I was wrong. Despite asking for lots of salt and vinegar it had barely any on and was really bland and greasy. Only positives were the salt and pepper mayo and curry sauce

Just bought 3 fish and chips. Batter was like slime coating the fish . So undercooked. Unusual from here, but no excuse, just had to throw 20 quids worth of tea in the bin. Not good
