Great little pub on the high street. Service was great. Good selection of ales and beers. Locals were friendly. We’ll be returning on our next visit

Located in the middle of Ashton town centre, the Golden Lion does exactly what a pub does....serves alcohol and gets people drunk. It has sports on the TVs and prices are reasonable. It's fine in the week but gets hectic and crazy at the weekends, or on race days at Haydock Park.

Me and my partner came for Valentine’s Day and it was lovely, portion sizes were huge I could barely finish it, the staff were relatively quick until around the end of our meal where the people around us were being served and empty plates taken but we were basically being flat out ignored, other than that everything was perfect

Terrific breakfast and service, highly recommended. We come here often - I only wish it was quieter but I think everybody knows about it now!

My wife and her friend visited the Crown last week for an afternoon tea and both loved their experience. This was a treat for me from my wife today as I am recovering from a heart attack. The manager warmly welcomed us and the waitress guided us to our table in the conservatory. We were delighted with our table placement in there and we dined in gorgeous March sunshine. The waitress, Ella, explained how the tea would unfold and was very attentive throughout. A tasty cupful of pea and ham soup made a tasty start. The sandwiches were sumptuous, tasty and well stocked. There was a mini sausage roll, small but in a lovely pastry, and a good selection of cakes and ample cream and all rounded off with scones. I treated myself to a pint of Neck Oil, my first beer since my op, what a treat All in all a super experience and we look forward to taking friends there for a full meal. Ken H.
