Ai saw a rat run across the bar, I thought I was seeing things at first but about 30 minutes later the same thing happened again , absolutely filthy pub, don't bother showering before you go because you will need onebstraight afterwards.

The place no longer does food. Needs a major shake up these days either the beer is off or they have ran out. Bit of a disappointment these days

A great pub if you want to watch sport, which we did. Unfortunately there is a company policy that music must be played at all times. Tyler, who was very friendly & polite explained that despite the fact that the handful of people in there were all watching the cricket (WI v England, Antigua) he was not allowed to put the commentary on, music had to be audible at all times 🙄. A shame really, if the bar staff were to use their judgement on such matters perhaps we'd have stayed to watch untill stumps on Day 4

Great little pub with good beer and live music. Staff are always friendly. Cask and craft beer available

My fiancé and I came in today and I can definitely say that we’ll be coming back. The venue is nicely lit with good quality drinks at a great price, Stella being the most expensive at £3.30. They even serve food which was lovely. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I would 100% recommend this venue to anyone in the area. They even have live bands on at weekends which we are looking forward to this weekend

Me and a friend popped in for a coffee and even indulged in a lovely chocolate muffin. Good friendly staff. Thumbs up we will definitely be returning

I went in for a drink with my partner and had a lovely drink at a reasonable price too! We spent a couple of hours in there getting to know the manager Ant and his partner Kerby. I would happily go back for another drink

Great pub to go for live music, great staff and best drink prices in town. They also now do a queue pass for the Kiln next door after you buy a drink on weekends. Will be going again.

Called in here fir a quick pint one Friday lunchtime, ended up staying for 3 hours. Nice and cosy pub with great clientele with good local banter. Reasonable prices and real ale as well. Would I go back ? Definitely.....

The Golden Lion is in the main walking street of Newcastle Under Lyme. There are several large TV screens that show Sky sports football on the weekend. The beer on tap is value for money making it a great place to watch sport.

Very shabby pub. Needs refurbishing not at all inviting. Ok for quick drink. Couldn't spend a night out there mainly old drinkers pub.

Traditional pub place nice interior and atmosphere we went for breakfast and so tried their full English and was not disappointed quality sausage and bacon well cooked eggs and large portions could not fault the food, place or staff as of now the only place for us to get a full English.

Visited here as part of our Saturday night pub crawl and it didn't disappoint. The place was busy and friendly and very welcoming. There was something special about the place, the atmosphere and the people, perhaps it was the retro feel to the place, but whatever it was it had it in abundance.

Great place to stay in Middlewich! Close to everything, and with that cosy English pub-atmosphere. Staff was the best ever, genuinly engaged and really wanted to make sure we had everything. They even arranged so we could use a vacant room after official check out to rest and store all our luggage while waiting for our departure later in the day. With three kids and rain outside that was the most welcome gesture! 🙏 The rooms where fresh and nice, in a house just across from the main building wich is a pub/restaurant/reception. A rather narrow spiral staircase leads to the upper floor rooms, no lift - I advice you contact them for a ground floor room if stairs are problematic for you :) The kitchen is nice, we used it to make breakfast for the smaller once not used to the meat-heavy English breakfast you can buy by the pub. If ever we revisit Middlewich, we would definitely stay here again.

Been here a couple of times now and the atmosphere's been amazing each time. Great for showing Sport. The atmosphere is always brilliant. Great friendly down to earth customers and staff, makes it so warm and welcoming. Will be there again for all my sporting events.

Brill food, pleasent and calm atmosphere. Cooked breakfast was tasty and well cooked. Toast was hit too! ☺

This great little pub has just re-opened after a complete refub and looks great with a new fresh decor and seating that makes the pub a great place to come for a friendly pint or a meal with a great and wide menu, i have been coming here for years and highly recomend it.

El León Dorado es un gran pub en la calle alta que hace realmente buena comida y no ofrece diariamente en una pinta y una comida a precios muy baratos, con un gran ambiente y diferentes cervezas a mano cada semana. Tienes todos los habitantes y estudiantes extranjeros de la universidad incluso local entremezclarse juntos para un gran lugar para disfrutar de una pinta nd para ver los deportes en las muchas pantallas en el pub

Decidimos llamar por una pinta que sirven cervezas Cask Marque: mi otra mitad no era mejor satisfechos! Tuvimos que caminar a través de una carga de personas fumando en la puerta de conseguir dentro del pub, idioma de algunos de los clientes era una opción poco, así que quizás no está mal para una copa con los muchachos, pero nos dijeron que iba como un par nuevo.

Visited Newcastle for the first time and stopped off for a few pints brilliant prices and what a warm welcome from the staff and all locals friendly in the pub great atmosphere! Will certainly return when we are next in the area!

Not really a restaurant but a really good local pub that does good food, now under new management with good weekend entertainment

not been here for a while, seems to have a lot of swearing men in the bar, the meals are ok but the bar puts you off

Having read the 2 reviews from 2014 re dirty glasses we went expecting the worst. However as it was motown & soul night there & we love this type of music we decided to risk it. Well I'm sorry to say the 2 reviews from 2014 were telling fibs or in the past few months things have improved. My husband was pleased to taste & enjoy a couple of pints of their cask marque ales. Our glasses were spotlessly clean as were the toilets, tables, floor, bar in fact the whole place was clean. We arrived as the football final scores were coming in. So very busy as the matches were being shown on the many screens around the pub. The cheesecake I ordered came out without any delay even though it was ordered just as the kitchen was about to close. Very friendly staff who appear to know the regulars but also treat them with respect (you don't find that very often anymore). There is no beer garden so if you fancy a smoke you have to stand outside as there is nowhere for you to sit (a good excuse to quit lol). The manageress/landlady was friendly asking people if they were okay, were they enjoying themselves etc. This was our first visit, needless to say we shall definitely be returning. Next visit we shall be dining there for main course as well as desert. We were very impressed.

Glasses absolutely disgusting, had to get the Landlord up from his morning sleep on his couch judging by how he looked and his attire, he could not give a damn , asked him if it was ok to take the dirty glasses home with me for a brewery rep to look at, he said they were clean and ok for me to do so. 1 positive but 2 people I'll for 2 days, heard many complaints from other customers on this visit, no one cared at all. Later found out he was making a giggle by putting / sending texts to the manager of Yates as though it was a person just making a fool of himself by composing about the cleanliness of glasses , tables and loo, Yates absolutely wonderful staff and conditions , food good too.Avoid this pub unless your tetanus is clearly updated , it is an absolute health hazard

Went in for the breakfast the food is excellent the drinking lasses are like pond dipping jars, The problem is they keep putting the glasses back in the dishwasher and then back on the shelves but never check that they have got all the scum off.Come on Golden get them glasses clean!
