The Golden Hind in Birmingham

Been coming the golden hind a few years now and always have couple beers and food BUT today I went and the new management are so friendly and Sam the chef today was bang on, ordered the cowboy burger and the hunters chicken, both were the best ever we have eaten here. Excellent food and service from start to finish

These guys go above and beyond. Not only do they run an amazing venue with great customer service, great food and a welcoming, safe atmosphere but they also do so much for the community. On multiple occasions they have donated large quantities of food to the vulnerable and homeless whilst showing how humble they are supporting those who are from disadvantaged backgrounds. Thank you for the continuous support and showing everyone what community spirit is all about! Much appreciated from Aman and Faith 😀

We attended a VE day celebration yesterday. To say it was fabulous is an understatement, words can't describe what a wonderful time we all had. The complemenary buffet and prosecco was marvellous, the singer was amazing and we were given union jack hats and flags to wave. This pub is now under the fantastic management of Rob and Sam. They are so welcoming and have truly turned The Golden Hind into an amazing, friendly and safe venue. Thank you and your team so much xx

Just wanted to thank you all for a brilliant afternoon celebrating VE day. From the entertainment, to the buffet and the atmosphere. What a fantastic day we've all had. Huge thanks to all the staff for putting on a brilliant day, see you all again soon.

Rob and Sam are just amazing.. they go above and beyond every day .. every event is a roaring success since they took over in December 2024!!! You couldn't ask for a more friendly welcome. Live entertainment is always incredible and has everyone singing and dancing. Their efforts and those of all the team cannot be matched as they give so much support to local charities and catering for families with holiday entertainment events - live artists etc. Being here is a joy ..and a pleasure.... laughter and friendship is always flowing along with a real sense of community for staff,regulars and anyone new who drops by.

What can I say, you guys are amazing!! We are attending the VE day celebrations and the atmosphere is amazing. Tables lined up like an actual street party, free buffet available, and the entertainment is fantastic, what more could you ask for in a pub. Keep doing what you are doing. Superb afternoon xxx

went for meal with family was dubious before going in as all outside pub were Aston villa flags when we got in had to wait 20 mins to get served and listen to a load of rowdy villa fans swearing and chanting food eventually arrived cold.complained about the obscenities being shouted and was told I'm they are locals so not a lot can do... avoid like the plague

Brilliant food, amazing service all the family enjoyed

My father had some amazing time here yesterday evening and asked me kindly to leave the review for him. He was with 2 of his colleagues. He remembers having some very nice starters, shrimps, chicken nibbles, the rest is history, due to some pints. He said Loredana the romanian waitress was very kind and professional, and explained more about the music programs they ll have soon in the pub. Great job guys!

Absolutely wicked atmosphere the lads have turned this pub around along side the staff who all work very hard to ensure the vibes are always on point there is not one single fault with the pub as far as I’m concerned they really care about bringing a proper pub which is family friendly to the community

Myself, my son, friend and her daughter came for the Breakfast with Taylor Swift event and it did not disappoint !! From being greeted by staff at the door and shown to our table straight away I knew this was going to be great. The breakfasts were coming out fast which was great, especially considering how full the pub was with excited Swifties !! The kids all had opportunities to meet the performer and have pictures taken, all whilst the staff were always checking we were all OK and having chats with the kids. Then the children were led to the separate bar area where the staff had set up a mini concert area, with seating and a stage area. I'd like to say i was shocked by the amount of effort the guys had gone to, but having been to one of their events before I knew that nothing would be too much for them. I was even told ''kids cant afford the prices of concerts nowadays can they, so we're trying to give them the experience here''. Honestly made me so emotional. The kids were all singing and dancing along and you just know it'll be an experience none of them will forget. Lovely breakfasts served, friendly helpful staff, clean facilities and a family feel from the owners that make you feel like you're not just in a local pub but you're part of the family there. I don't have enough words to be able to explain how fantastic today was, as was the Mothers Day meal and clairvoyant night before. Everyone loves the new owners and can see the hard work they've put into our little community pub. We will be back again and again for all the events we can get into and for more of the delicious food.

Me & my family have been using this pub for many years. Since the new guys have took over they've turned the place around for the better . We went to the Taylor swift tribute today was fantastic so organised lovely staff and even giving out free drinks for the children Would highly recommend x

A really well run, proper community focused pub with a fab friendly atmosphere.. the type of pub that we makes you smile when you get such a warm welcome as soon as you walk through the door. The food was lovely, there was fabulous entertainment and the staff were so nice! A huge 10 out of 10 for the team running the place - keep up the good work 🍻

Sunday roasts absolutely brilliant

I'm not just saying this as it's my local but I'm really impressed with how the new owners have taken over and brought the pub back to life . Foods improved 10 fold thanks mostly to Micky and Sam . Really enjoy spending time here with friends .

La habitación estaba limpia, cálida y acogedora, la comida estaba en el lugar, y el equipo incluso dejó una tarjeta de simpatía pensativa para mí. Rob me recibió con un abrazo y nos recordó que si alguna vez necesitábamos apoyo, incluso después del día mismo, ellos estaban allí. Son las pequeñas cosas que significaron tanto. Came to this wonderful pub for my lunch and the food blew my expectations away chef Ryan was so helpful when deciding what I wanted. The beer was tasty and refreshing. Highly recommend!

Gotta give it to the lads at The Golden Hind – they actually listen, care, and do something about what people say. Whether it’s good or bad feedback, they act on it, and it shows. We stopped eating here for a long time, but now Friday night is a must. The food’s bang on, we stay for the disco, and the whole place just feels welcoming again. The new stage is a solid addition, and it’s clean and well looked after. Sam, Rob, Jacob and the team – take a bow, you’ve smashed it.

The new managers Rob and Sam are the best thing that’s happened to the Hind in years. We have drank in this pub for decades and we seeing new faces come in. The entertainment is brilliant, and now they have put a stage which means we can see the act from where we sit. It’s a lovely atmosphere. Rob and Sam are so welcoming and we love that they are just turning the hind around. Well done to both of you.

Went for breakfast with the Mrs and litte one today, the new owners Rob and Sam are so bloody welcoming. They don't talk to you like a customer, they go that one step ahead and they talk to you like friends. I just hope when they turn this pub around (and they will) they don't get moved on. They are what this community needs. They are unreal hosts. Well done gents you really do know how to treat your punters. Oh ... and the breakfast was banging with a cup of proper Yorkshire tea. Outstanding steak, a lovely nice cold glass of Pepsi with ice. The staff was so warm and welcoming wish a great feeling of warmth when you enter. They couldn’t be more helpful.

We was welcomed by really lovely staff they all made us feel really welcome. Me and my mom came for breakfast and a catchup. The atmosphere was lovely. Nice music and really nicely decorated for valentines. We had breakfast and it was so nice. The guy who served us was really helpful. And Sam the chef made sure it was exactly how we wanted it he made the time to speak to us too. Such lovely guys. We will deffinelty make it a weekly visit now.xxx

We had my dad's funeral wake here on the 16th jan 20025 Rob & Sam was absolutely amazing done everything they could to help and more done all the food ready for when we got to the pub food was hot and fresh and looked amazing could not ask for more Thank you to rob sam & all the staff

First time visiting had the mixed grill. Cooled to perfection! 👌 The staff were so warm and welcoming, just wish the gaffa helped behind the bar a bit more, poor girl was quite busy. The chef came out to check the food which was a nice touch. Will definitely be back.

La cena de hoy fue perfecta. Nuestra familia de 18 personas fue cálidamente recibida por todo el personal. Había regalos para nuestros 5 niños más pequeños debajo del árbol con una nota de Santa, que fue un toque encantador. La comida estaba bien presentada, sabía muy bien y teniendo en cuenta que éramos 18 la comida se sirvió caliente. Bien hecho todo el personal Gracias a todos. Muy recomendable

What a fantastic night we've had watching Nicola Marie as Amy Winehouse. She was brilliant.The whole atmosphere was great. It's been a while since it's felt like that. The New Managers introduced themselves and what lovely fellas they are... they've already made ir a pleasure to be there. We look forward to returning soon.

Me acerqué a comer a The Golden Hind mientras trabajaba en la zona, y tengo que decir que estaba en el lugar. Desde el momento en que entré, me hizo sentir muy bienvenido por la encantadora dama detrás de la barra. Ella tomó mi orden y me dijo que tomara asiento, luego incluso trajo mi Pepsi (yo estaba trabajando, así que no hay alcohol esta vez!). Me moría de hambre y tenía un poco de prisa, así que fui por el pollo al curry, y vaya... qué elección. Sinceramente, fue uno de los mejores currys que he probado. Salió humeante caliente y estaba absolutamente delicioso. El pub en sí se sentía muy acogedor, con música navideña sonando de fondo en el volumen justo, no demasiado fuerte. Los lugareños eran geniales también, muy amable y tuvo una charla rápida conmigo, que fue agradable. La señora de detrás de la barra incluso se acercó para comprobar si todo estaba bien con mi comida y se aseguró de decir adiós cuando me fui. Esta fue mi primera vez aquí, y desearía vivir más cerca (estoy a más de 80 millas de distancia), pero si alguna vez vuelvo a la zona, definitivamente volveré. ¡Una joyita de pub!

I performed here for the first time on the 7th December 2024. I was made to feel so welcome, Robbie really went out of his way to make my gig a wonderful experience, I felt respected, appreciated and looked after and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue to other artists and performers. The punters were warm and friendly and they certainly had a fantastic sense of humour! I'm looking forward to returning in the not too distant future! Thanks so much for having me guys! x

I popped into The Golden Hind for lunch while I was working in the area, and I’ve got to say, it was spot on. From the minute I walked in, I was made to feel really welcome by the lovely lady behind the bar. She took my order and told me to grab a seat, then even brought my Pepsi over (I was working, so no booze this time!). I was starving and in a bit of a rush, so I went for the chicken curry, and wow—what a choice. Honestly, it was one of the best curries I’ve ever had. It came out steaming hot and was absolutely delicious. The pub itself felt really homely, with Christmas music playing in the background at just the right volume—not too loud. The locals were great too, really friendly and had a quick chat with me, which was nice. The lady from behind the bar even came over to check if everything was alright with my food and made sure to say goodbye as I left. This was my first time here, and I wish I lived closer (I’m over 80 miles away), but if I’m ever back in the area, I’ll definitely be coming back. A proper little gem of a pub!

We met Sam and Rob before they took over as the new management.We asked them if it would be possible to hold our mom's wake in the pub and they were so obliging.Nothing was too much for them.They kept in touch and did the buffet just as we had asked.The service was great and I think they will both go far running their new business.We look forward to using your facilities in the future.Thank you both.

Primera visita a la parte trasera y volveré al 100%. El servicio de principio a fin fue de primera categoría! Tuvimos un pescado con patatas fritas y pollo cazador y fue encantador! El pub es tiene mucho carácter. Hemos vuelto después de malas experiencias anteriores y nos quedamos muy impresionados! Gracias por una gran comida!

Almuerzo familiar de domingo (13 Covers): 1 hora y 20 minutos entre 1 comida en la calle llegando y la última y teníamos pre pedido! (Comidas servidas una por una). Nuestra mesa no estaba despejada para que pudiéramos tener un pudín (así que no lo hicimos). La ausencia completa de servicio al cliente durante toda la comida fue muy decepcionante. Una mala revisión de los clientes generalmente significa que algo ha salido mal y necesita ser rectificado para evitar una repetición. Basándonos en nuestra experiencia de hoy, el equipo realmente necesita mejorar su juego y por lo tanto no puedo recomendar cenar aquí.

We took mom and dad for an anniversary meal ( 66 years). Both of them are not too keen on chips so the kitchen changed the chips for mash potatoes which they enjoyed better. So impressed with the pub,especially because we was there just after 12pm and there was plenty of tables to choose from. An enjoyable meal for us all.

Having just opened at 12 , We new it would be quiet. Our meals were freshly cooked,and was hot when served to us. We had ordered the Hunters chicken, scampi & mash,and Fish & chips. Tasted very good,served by friendly staff Thanks

Lovely little boozer it’s my local, great place to pop in for some food in the day, child friendly lovely atmosphere everyone is so welcoming there’s new owners who have recently taken over and are trying there best to keep the place great for the locals, they listen to advice to keep the place great keep up the amazing work guys your settling in so well.

I basically live in this family friendly pub and it has such a nice atmosphere the people are so friendly excpescially behind bar staff and new owners nat and Kiran have really shown positive attitude getting to know all there customers it's quite an amazing place to be

Went in for food. Was very busy so throught there be a big wait but no sevice was brilliant fish and chips was great and the beer to wash it down went down well.

Food is pub grub and quality is good but could have been better as some items on my mixed grill could have been cooked for longer. Service generally okay. Would visit again.

We were there only yesterday, Wednesday 22 May at 1:30pm for lunch (4 adults). It was quiet in there about 3 tables taken up including us. We order for 4 fish and chips but only 2 was available, so we go for 2 fish and chip, 1 curry with beer meal and 2 starters - soup of the day and prawn cocktail,, we waited for our food for 45 mins when there wasn’t anyone else ordered, when our came the amount of the soup of disgusting it was only about 4 spoonfuls scope and the butter was melted like cooking oil. The fish for the fish and chip wasn’t fresh at all, it was tough and rubbery tasted disgusting. This place as really gone down hill being last taken over. Don't think we will ever go there for food again.

This is mine and my friends local and we love it here. So friendly and the atmosphere is so warm, been so much nicer in recent times. Good selection of drinks and we're always having a fun time!

As soon as you walk in the atmosphere is warm and welcoming customers and staff are really kind and helpful we order food and there was a good selection to choose from my austic child found it easy to select from the menu when the food came out it was perfect and there was plenty and we never felt rushed after we had our food it was a lovely experience and will be attending again

As always this pub is great, always a happy time with good drinks and good people. Josh is always good with us and makes us very welcome.

Excellent pub, and great people

The christmas dinner on the festive meal for a christmas pub meal was very good and the best thing about the meal.. Despite preorder some puddings were unavailable. One christmas pudding was burnt in the middle...too much time in the microwave. Again despite pre order and pub not busy and a set time for arrival a long wait for food and in between courses.

Came up for some food, sirloin steak was perfect, my wife's hunters chicken was nice as well. Elvis Presley tribute started and it was brilliant, new manager doing well.

Lovely pub to meet up with friends after work and on a weekend. Nice atmosphere and friendly feeling.
