Wedding celebration venue - Two words - relaxed & fabulous! …. We’ve had a few Sunday lunches here and all deliciously fantastic. A family run business I believe. Staff are amazing with their welcome and attention to detail. Food is top notch for a bistro pub but without the top dollar prices. At the weekend we visited again for a privately hired family wedding celebration … I was expecting a lovely day but their attention to detail to guests and food made for an impressive time all round. If you want a more casual, intimate venue for your wedding/special celebration (no doubt without the extortionate ‘posh wedding venue’ private hire costs) …. Look no further!

If I could give 10 stars I would.. Food was delicious, cooked perfectly. Nanny Jane’s apple cake the best I’ve ever had, if I hadn’t been in front of other people, would have licked the plate. This is a pub you must visit! My Mum hired half of the outside terrace area and the conservatory area for her 60th birthday. It was perfect from start to finish. Nothing was a big ask to the wonderful team there. She had a dj, some beautiful food served. The outside area is beautiful decorated with chair covers too. A perfect setting for a birthday celebration. Thank you Ladies and Kitchen staff!

Fantastic everything. From the moment we stepped in, the staff were absolutely fantastic and so friendly and helpful, we sat in the conservatory on a hot summer day and it was perfectly pleasant for us and our baby. We ordered the signature burger and it was by far superior than any burger we’ve had in the area for a while! Drinks were okay but needed more Attention as my old fashioned was more of a lemonade without ice. Highly recommend coming and visiting this pub fantastic atmosphere.

We had the Sunday roasts. By far the best roast we have had out. Portion sizes were perfect, beautifuly presented, gravy seved in the cutiest teapot! Staff are very welcoming and friendly. By the end of the meal we felt like regular patrons. Highly recommend to everyone.

We went on a Sunday which is roast dinner day at the Golden Ball. I can't put into words how good each and every aspect of the meal was. All of the different parts were made with love, experience, and knowledge. You have to try it yourself. Unequivocally the best roast I have ever had. Would recommend to anyone. It was good after coming back after 10 years aloft husband being a chef. We truly loved the starter’s of squid and crispy chicken. Hundred loved the burger as it seemed that was the popular choice on others tables. Nice place but nothing stood out on the menu

What a fantastic place, and lovely multi-generation family running it. We stopped as a random place for lunch on our way up the A404. What a find! The staff are all so kind, friendly and chatty. The real ale was well-kept, and the food was excellent. The Cod and Chips was tasty, with nice additions of samphire, pea shoots, and caviar in the tartare sauce. My Wife had the crab linguine which was equally delicious with a spicy kick. You must try this place. Plenty of parking and loads of space to sit inside or outside.

WOW. Just WOW. Last came here around 2020 and I'd say the food was average, the service was poor and served with lots of attitude. Fast forward to 2024, I'd booked in again, and had low expectations. But... I was pleasantly blown away! Its now under brand new management with a new chef and staff. And just WOW. The food was incredible, plated with care, and tasted amazing. On par with some of the best restaurants in London (and I've eaten at tons of Michelin places over the years, so I know my food). This was one of the best fish and chips I've had, even better than Rick Stein's Fistral in Newquay. Yes, that's right. Hats off to the chef! And the service was top notch too, super friendly and attentive staff and enjoyable to talk to. They've really turned this place around from what it used to be. I'm definitely coming back and bringing more people here. It's definitely up there for one of the best gastro pubs in the area.

Although I'm not a fan of Sunday roasts ( I think it's one of the most overrated dishes ever ) I must confess that we really liked the pork loin and the chicken that we had . The Yorkshire pudding with the mashed potato and some meat ( a bit unclear and confusing when reading the menu though ) but very good and well combined . Service was a bit ....slow , but understandable because it was a busy day with families celebrating Father's Day. Overall : very satisfied and we'll definitely be back soon. Highly recommended 👍🏼

Beautiful place, spacious, clean wonderful ambience. Hospitality at its finest! Chelsey and her staff go above and beyond, we watched an elderly lady on her own, and all staff tended to her needs above anything I have ever experienced. There was a wait for the food but this is stated on the menu! However I was blown away by the standard of the service and the food, the chef certainly knows what he’s doing , every mouthful left a tingle on the tastebuds! I need these recipes! Lol We will be returning without a doubt the best roast I have ever eaten, including mine 😜 you will not be disappointed and believe me I’m the fussiest person but this place rocks xxx

Thankyou SO much for a lovely couple of hours yesterday in the sunshine, really couldn’t have been more sublime. Lovely setting, super friendly, efficient and helpful staff and the food was AMAAAAAZING!!! Seriously, best Sunday roast ever, better than Hinds Head which we went to a few weeks ago. Beautifully prepared, freshly cooked, looked amazing, a very healthy portion and tasted utterly divine, we were all blown away.

Had Sunday lunch today with my parents and wife. Just wow what a meal the taste and attention to detail was superb the service fantastic even though the waitress got the drinks order wrong it was soon rectified with no fuss at all. Definitely going back for Sunday lunch again when back in Maidenhead

We visited The Golden Ball whilst staying nearby in Cookham Dene. The food was fabulous, salt & pepper squid and chicken tenders for starters, scampi and beef rib bap for mains. Both courses were excellent and so tasty. Sadly so generous that we didn't have room for Puddings, but I'm sure they'd have been just as good. Staff were so friendly and the place was very well decorated and furnished and had a nice ambience..I bet the garden is great on warmer days. Well done all, we'll return when next in the area.

A wonderful kind friendly welcome from our host Chelsea. We were created with if Seconds of arriving. The pub was lovely and clean. We visited on a Friday evening around 1900, we expected it to be very busy but it was great! It got busy at 1930 yet the staff were able to serve and seat everyone. The staff kept smiling and asking us if everything was ok. Everything was perfect. We only waited around 8-10 mins for our food! The food was absolutely wonderful! I had the Fish which was very fresh with lovely chips and the tartar sauce even had caviar on the top to garnish. My partner had Asian pulled beef rib burger. The meat simply melted it was so well cooked! Everything on both our plates had great flavour and portion size was just right. I used the washroom facilities and with it being a Friday I expected them not to be clean but they were clean and smelled fresh. There is a lovely outdoor seating area with heaters. The patio was very clean and also very tidy. Inside there were lots of real candles giving the place a lovely cozy feeling. The pub is also puppy dog friendly both inside and out. Overall it was such a pleasure to visit here for a meal while on our way to Heathrow. The staff were absolutely outstanding! They made us feel so welcome and cared for! I highly recommend this place! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING LOVELY PLACE AND PEOPLE! Thank you Chelsea for making us feel so welcomed!

Went here for a light lunch today. Firstly, the front of house service were polite and the ingredients used in the food was of good quality. However, I found a small piece of plastic in my pea soup, which I bit into to my displeasure. When making front of house aware of this, I was told that the soup was stored in one of their cheaper containers which easily broke away and not one of their newer ones. Well in that case, why were they still using these containers when knowing the risk of plastic braking off and falling into food? Although, they refunded the cost of the soup we realised that the final bill still overcharged us £15 for extra hot drinks that we never even ordered. Could quite easily have paid for this if it weren't for my eagle eyed son who spotted the mistake. Also, we didn't take leftovers from the other soup we ordered because of my poor experience. Finally, I noticed that they didn't take off their service charge from our final bill, which I've been told should be taken off as standard when finding foreign objects in food, especially from a restaurant that prices itself at the premium end of the market. Overall, we left disappointed with our experience.

Only pop in for a Sunday pint now and then… the reason I do is because this team are super friendly, from the bar to staff walking by, the whole team are great. Food is great too! So many places miss the basics these days and a personal touch… Not here though! A warm welcome every time! Well run and highly recommend!

Honestly wish there were more stars tbh. I visited yesterday with family and all of us agreed the roast was hands down the BEST roast we’d ever eaten - and we are avid roast eaters both at home or when eating out lmao. Everything was perfectly cooked, fresh & seasoned well - highly recommend the beef. One of us also had a milk allergy, the staff were attentive to this, carefully making sure his food didn’t contain any milk but still ensuring his roast was delicious! The staff were super friendly, welcoming & attentive. Drinks were flowing & their mulled wine is also delicious. The pub itself is clean, tidy & really beautifully decorated (especially with the Christmas decs, feels so festive & warm!) We love the feel of this family run pub so much so we booked again whilst there for January. The Golden Ball is an absolute must try. Both their weekly & Sunday menu is delicious you will not be disappointed! :)

The night here was amazing, I was meeting with friends from work and we all had a really good time. The food was very good and the staff were all very nice too.

I have to admit I was a bit suspicious of a burger costing 20 quid at first, but all those doubts are now deeply satisifed and ready to pass out on the sofa like I am.

Celebrated a family wedding last night which was excellent! The food was delicious, the very friendly and timely service was outstanding and the decoration was so beautiful. We used to live in Maidenhead and have spent many celebrations there but this was the best and the owners and staff felt like family. Thank you so much!

We booked Sunday lunch and they had run out of chicken....it happens yes,but my friend cannot eat red meat due to iron levels in her blood, no alternative other than a nut roast. Service was poor with the staff distracted with the chef out the front of the bar handling a dog...I hope he washed his hands before touching food again. Will not be going back.

Visited for Sunday lunch. Recommended by a guest on a previous visit. We were not disappointed. The best restaurant Sunday dinner I've eaten for many a year. Attentive but not intrusive staff and pleasant surroundings.

Visited for a private function. This place is fabulous!. Very clean, comfortable and stylish. Great ambiance. The staff were amazing all night, always had a smile and very attentive. A gorgeous buffet was provided by the establishment which was varied and delicious. Its a shame that the venue is a little far from where I live or I would definitely be a frequent visitor. 10/10

Went for Birthday party with a large group. The food was amazing, everyone loved what they ordered. Well done to Chef and staff for getting food out and looking after us. Excellent, 👍we will definitely be back.

We went for a dinner with our friends and were very disappointed with food and service. The service was awful. We arrived at 6.30pm and our food was served at 8pm! We were waiting for water for our table for 1 hour and after 4 reminders finally got it. Food was really bad as well for this type of pub. My friend asked for a medium- rare steak but received very chewy medium to well done one. My mushroom pasta had only 2 very bitter mushrooms, truffle flavour was nowhere to be found, undercooked and came lukewarm. I didn't finish it. When I came home I still was hungry.... This is not what you expect after pay £200ish bill in the pub. Overall a bad experience and will not come back or recommend this place. The only nice thing was an interior design as looks like they have refurbished it recently.

Am awful place, stay away from it if you'd like nice dinner. The service is appalling, staff is not looking after the customers but is more interested in chatting to each other or their friends. Waiting time for drinks = 40 minutes. Waiting time for food = 90 minutes. As for the food, overpriced and below average quality.

Like the makeover in the last couple of years. Much much nicer now!
