Reasonably tasting food for a bargain price. Food arrived within minutes of ordering on the app. Plates were hot. Refillable tea and coffee. And free WiFi to boot as well. Ideal for a cheap breakfast and a catchup.

Exceptionally clean for a Wetherspoons. Ive been in some awful ones while travelling for work. Staff friendly. Quick service and food warm for a change.

The British Museum should do a cease and desist notice to remove association with the Mold Cape. To be fair there's hardly any staff and they're trying to serve cook and clean without the staff to do it. We had an albeit vegan burger that wasn't cooked and the staff member took it to discuss this with the chef advising that it met all heating and cooking requirements. Well that's ok then!! Other food was ok not up to the standard of other Spoons. Tables covered in stuff just looks like they've given up. I'm being generous with 3 stars. Update we've had a full refund for everyone's food and drink so at least the shift supervisor redeemed themselves.

The staff are really helpful, the food is ok ,not great but not bad ,but it is made quickly and for a table of 8 with different meals the food was there in just over ten minutes. Every satisfied and we went on our way

In Ruthin it was terrible, in fact rubbish. To show our appreciation I gave a £5 tip to the woman taking our order. She said, oh, OK. However, after that things took off on the wrong foot. Because She insisted for a verbal expression of appreciation, "please miss may we have" "thank you for taking my order." The show £5 thankyou wasn't enough, How self opinionated can a person get in service to their employer and costumers? Maybe I should have given more tips, I don't know. Is £5 pound tip not a demonstrated appreciation in Weatherspoon's ?

As far as weatherspoons go... this is a good one. Food doesn't always seem up to temperature, staff are always polite.

Here on a little date. Service was fast we used the app. We didn't order food but said we both wish we did. Think that's a future plan. Place was tidy staff were pleasant. Cleaning was 90% ok. Overall as id never been I would happily come again

Went in for breakfast ordered large breakfast and asked for the plate to be hot .breakfast arrived within minutes and the plate was hot ,couldn't ask for a better service.

Great food & drink for a great price, what’s not to love 🩷 We prefer this Wetherspoons to others in the area as it has a better atmosphere and tends to be quieter in the week which is nice. Staff are very friendly to each other and to customers. The Jack Daniels BBQ sauce is delicious!

Very dark, food.... asked for the steak to be rare, told sorry all cooked together. When the meal came, the meat ( mixed grill) was all very well done, (like cardboard) and meal was cold. I had people with me who were disabled, the disabled toilet was open to all, (no radar key needed) but stank to high heaven! And didn't seem very clean. On the plus side the few staff available where clean and presentable, and where polite and friendly. All in all ,the worst witherspoon I've been in, and we tend to go into them for lunch wherever possible on our travels.

Food was nice but atmosphere was too loud in parts of the place and quiet in others which depends where you sit.

Been there many times, they never ever have salt there.

Went for a meeting over breakfast, good wifi to help with the work. Cooked breakfast and 2 coffees for abiut a fiver which was ordered from and delivered to the table. Spoons has its faults but always found the golden cape to be of a decent standard

Nice friendly food pub. It’s not the Ritz but it’s good value for money and I scored . Very happy . “We “ will defo return I said I would come back and I have . I ordered a pint of Ruddles Best £1.77. An American burger with cheese and a free soft drink £5.24. The burger was delicious . So was the beer . The place was spotlessly clean . No sticky bar top, table . A big 👍 thumbs up . No wonder they do so well . The staff were brilliant . Checked if all was ok with my meal and were smiling and looked happy but my they were busy . I will make this a regular visit . I have two pubs in my village . I’d rather drive to Mold and enjoy Spoons hospitality . 10/10.

after visiting national trust wrexham, we visited the golden cape mold. weatherspoons to us locals. The cask ipa great. ordered two all day brunch 5.99 plus a drink, comfort food. on inspection of my all day brunch my wife had two hot fried eggs on her plate i had one. informed the young man serving he is so polite and has good manners that i was an egg short, how dare spoons. No issues he replied i will sort that out. the kitchen staff had stacked my second fried egg under the one egg i had been served perfectly just looked like one egg. I felt foolish and excepted the third egg with out proclaiming my mistake. 5 stars today staff, well done. 29/7/23. 1700hr.

Place was fairly busy,but managed to get a seat okay. Food came quite quick,and had decent amount of chips. Wouldn't choose to come to this particular spoons because its in Mold but food was okay,floor however extremely dirty, obviously had not been cleaned all day.

Went on market day. Fairly full but empty tables had not been cleared. I sat down to be told my table would be cleared in a minute - never happened. I ordered food and drink on the app. Food arrived quickly but looked as it it had been thrown on the plate! The chicken was ok but not as good as what I have had in other spoons! My drink did not come and had to ask for it. It finally came 10 minutes after my food. With so many excellent eateries in Mold, this is best avoided!

I ate the best Wetherspoons meal I have ever had at The Golden Cape today. Considering the chips had been frozen they were really nice, which was down to them being well cooked. The staff were friendly in a low key way. I really can not fault anything. I have never felt inspired to write a review about Wetherspoons before, but did today.

This place is full dark and tired.. place was littered with dirty tables.tried ordering grommets the app....this took several minutes 35 to be precise.. each time we went to basket we hot .. oooa an error has occuted plesse try sgain... after sebetal more attempts husbamd went to bar( far quicker )i Ordered tuna melt chips with an alcoholic drink £5.29... hubby had pastrami bagle with a pint price ok.... order came quick but my panini was burnt on one side. ...had to send it bsk!!! On a plus side plates were hot ( other wetherspons should take note.... you can have warm/hot plates) panini soon changed but to late hubby had eaten his alone and I was left to eat mine alone also.....staff were doing their best bug ad per usual for nearly all the wetherspons we have visited there is noway neer enough bar and front of house staff!!!! Tim needs to up his game and get some re-training done....

two steak puddings ordered poured gravy on it was stone cold, waitress offered two mure jugs of gravy to complement the cold gravy. we thought just eat it and go we give up no apologies no duty manager to explain what when wrong!. If feel sorry for the bar staff who pull their socks off while management and kitchen staff lack commitment and motivation. cc tim marshall twitter.

Staff were most unwelcoming, tables were dirty and at 12.30pm on a Sunday lunchtime, they stopped taking food orders. Worst Wetherspoons we’ve ever been in.

Pointless visit, after visiting the local Saturday Market we decided to have lunch at this well known restaurant chain. We managed to find a suitable table, but there was no menu for us to order from, l managed ask a passing waitress who said I could get one from the main bar, this I did and after about 10 minutes I returned to the bar to place our order, to my surprise and disappointment l was told that no food orders were being taken, no explanation, no apology, no sign or notice indicating food unavailable, the time just after 2pm. We left never to return.

Went here for tea tried to order from the app but everything went ok until after payment it seemed it didn’t want to confirm my order. At least it didn’t charge me twice. When I finished my main for my dessert the waiter took my main plate and drink away. And when the chocolate fudge cake came it came out cold and looked like it got splatted on.

So, on April 6th myself and my daughter went to Wetherspoons in Mold for breakfast. As a blind person i would always request that my toast is buttered and i have never had a problem with this request, however, when my daughter placed the order she explained the situation and made the request, the reply from the staff member was that she would ask the kitchen but if they were busy then they wouldn’t be able to do it for me, we are talking 10 seconds, what a stupid comment. The breakfast came to the table 25 minutes later without the toast buttered, I explained to the table server, he took it away and brought it back 30 seconds later job done. The breakfast was cold and the hash brown soggy, one of the staff came round and asked if everything was ok with the meal, I explained it was cold, she did offer to replace it but I did not want to wait a further 25 minutes. My usual Wetherspoons is in Holywell where the staff and service are excellent and the food is nice and hot at all times I would suggest sending the staff from Mold to Holywell to re trained. It is no wonder this is still rated as the worst Wetherspoons in Wales.I think yoiu need to supervise staff more closely.

No heating now for 4 days, the current temperature is 15.6c. Far too cold to have an enjoyable drink or meal. What customers there are? Are wearing outdoor clothing and many are leaving without ordering. What a way to run a business.

Visit only ok, fairly quiet Wednesday afternoon after a visit to the local market. We had an hour or so before our bus departed, so quickly sat down and ordered via the new app (had to download). Drinks came soon after, but sent back my lager as flat. Quickly replaced with alternative. Food arrived and was hot, although the plate it was served on was almost too hot to touch, possibly why the disinterested male manager practically tossed it onto my lap. Steak was tasty, cooked as required, however my tomato was a little cold and undercooked. On clearing the table, I spoke to the guy about it being quiet and he just shrugged and said ‘yeah, good for me today as I was in the kitchen yesterday morning and we were battered’. Seemed like he didn’t want to be there and made us feel like we were interfering with his plans for a quiet day, which was uncomfortable.Toilets clean, if not a little smelly, and as always, upstairs!!Still offering great competitive prices.

A few friends where hopeing to have a Christmas meal and a few drinks one afternoon in December but when the menu came out it wasn't what we expected was very disappointed seems its the same menu all the wetherspoons Christmas 2021.shame sorry guys but its not for us this year perhaps it will be a better one next year hopefully .

Beer choice is extremely limited, NO Abbot, NO Doombar, NO Guiness, NO Gravitas. This dump has gone even further downhill following the appointment of a new ‘alleged manager’. Wetherspoons sort your act out before you lose even more customers.

Recently visited again and food was lovely. Service was great and the manager on shift (Australian fella) was extremely hard working…I wouldn’t like his job…must get the steps in.As usual we were given a warm welcome and I had the new Piri piri chicken and a pint of abbots. Delicious can’t wait for our next visit.

Standards of higiene do not apply in here restaurant empty but every table filthy and I’m not exaggerating you scrap the dirt with a knife Tables haven’t seen a cloth or sanitising what looks like everMenus filthy or not existent Would I’ve liked to speak to someone in charge but the only person I’ve seen was a Chef with the dirtiest chefs whites I ever seenCould go on but I finish by saying EHO needs to pay a visit to this place and CLOSE IT for ever

What can I say. People say that wetherspoons is wetherspoons, buttttt. There has to be standards. My food was cold, my chicken was that dry it was like eating 20 cream crackers, awful. The toilets are rank, the lino is lifting off the floor where blokes spill. Just shocking. Staff walked past tables with plates on and food on the floor, no attempt to clear away. Just terrible. I vow not to go back.

Came in on the 12th of October and was served awfully by one of the male managers with dark hair and tattoos on his arm, he was rude and uninterested in my order and looked like he cared more about clock watching than he did my order.as I say dork right my drink I watched His attitude with other customers just To see if it was just me he was singling out but unfortunately he was aggressive in his manor towards many customers after me. I used to love the pub but since this manager has come I feel uneasy ordering from here sadly. Sort it out gold cape.

Only popped in for a cold drink as passing through the town on our way home.Fairly large premises but very little ambiance.As not sure of COVID requirements in Wales used the app for ordering. Drinks came quite quickly and as per our order.Food we saw looked the standard we expect from Wetherspoons but it was too early for us to eat.

Looking tired due to lack of investment but still churns out a half decent breakfast at the right price. Although as per all Spoons it can range from stone cold to warm. New staff are far better than the previous collection of narks,

Visited Mold market on Wednesday 25th, then popped into the gold cape for lunch.Pub was busy and had to search for a clean table. Having found one,it was apparent that because of the covid scenes it felt dark sat in the middle of the restaurant. Ordered our food and drinks via the app. Drinks arrived quickly, and the food not long after. We enjoyed the food ordered, and we found the staff we had contact with helpful and friendly. Could do with better lighting in the middle area.

So after a ridiculous visit to weatherspoons Ruthin I am so pleased to say how brill weatherspoons Mold is. Happy Staff, food hot, and most importantly vinegar!! (Ruthin review is worth a read) 10/10 to all mold staff including Nel for making us so welcome.

We had to stop here (I love Wetherspoons!) for drinks after climbing nearby Moel Famau. From the outside it looks small, but it is surprisingly big. Ordered drinks via app, came within 5 mins. Clean, lovely ambience and polite staff. The food looked delicious and plentiful though we’d already eaten so had to give it a miss on this occasion.

Had a lovely afternoon with my daughter & her friend the food was really great the service was quick the staff where so helpful and on the ball a lot of new faces with the staff but thay where so friendly a big thanks to JODY am so pleased she's still working there she really goes the extra mile and looks after everyone and the oldies well done will be in there again Friday for my purple moose if its on the pump it was on fine form today .thank you all.Marjx

Staff were friendly enough no problems there, However ordered 2 allday brunches and my god they were bad, The eggs where like fake joke eggs made of rubber and the rest just completely rotten, The poor waitress came over looking really worried when asking us if everything was ok with the food, i just said fine thanks as we got what we paid for and didnt want to cause a scene, Anyway off we went to mcdonalds.. We actually laughed it off as a mistake on our behalf for going there in the first place..

Service came with a smile but the 2x mixed grills were terrible and the replacement chips weren't much better to those we were served originally.Paid extra for creamy peppercorn sauce which tasted nothing Iike any peppercorn sauce I've had before and certainly don't want to have again.Requested a refund of one meal but the receipt was so smoke and mirrors even now I'm not too sure of how much was actually refunded. Only time will tell with that one.All in all very disappointing and certainly won't be back.

How you can serve the burger we had and have the cheek to call it food I’ll never know. Halloumi wrap that actually had no halloumi on it just lettuce and tomatoes. The staff need a lot more training in how to deal with customers and what food is not acceptable to bring out to customers. I know it’s budget food but I’m still paying for it and expect it to be edible!!! Disgusting environment as well the cleanliness is non existent absolutely vile . We won’t be back I had to give 1 star in order to do this review but you don’t deserve that so I give 0 stars much improvement is needed in all areas.

Awful service by the manager there - if that is who she was as she never had a badge on !!! She never wore a mask when approached us and was very very rude when ordering food and drinks.

We visited there on Monday afternoon two parties of six. Had great service off all the staff wearing a uniform. We sat outside spent lots on food and drink. We where laughing and talking. Then a woman who was working there not wearing a uniform think she had a white top on and green shorts no name badge asked us to keep the noise down we apologised then after she went back in we closed the door to keep the noise out she then flew outside with her mask around her chin and told us to go no explanation very aggressive and refused to give us her name. Very disappointed

Myself and my friend arranged to meet in mold to visit the market which is on a Wednesday. Afterwards we decided to stop in at the gold cape (Weatherspoons). We were quickly greeted by staff near the door who explained how to use the track and trace system (QR code or paper). We ordered via the app (staff had offered to take our order though as it is currently table service. After placing our order our drinks arrived in a timely manner not long followed by our food.I went for a curry and my friend had a rainbow salad. Portions were great, tasted lovely and staff were nice what’s to fault? Would defiantly visit again when in the area.

One of the waiters was absolutely horrible. Awful customer service. Rude attitude. Shouldn’t be in a job serving customers if he cannot fake a smile and being nice. Understand it can be a stressful job but seriously trying to keep take away your customers drinks because they ordered peas is absolutely ridiculous. Will not be coming back I hope they fire the tall one with messy hair. On a second hand the smaller dark haired waiter was absolutely lonely and he’s the only reason I would return again.

Myself my hubby and two grandchildren we live in denbigh but when the grandchildren come to stay we always take them for lunch in mold at the weatherspoons and have always loved it Because of covid we have all been looking forward to getting back to things we like we understand things are a little different at present But we sat at a table for an hour and watched as staff 4 members just chatted at the bar eventually another customer went up and said its suppose to be table service and no one had been to them and they been waiting half an hour well you can imagine my hubby when one of them went to there table and took there order and we was still waiting hot and by this time really fed up hubby told a member of staff at the bar how annoyed he was who just said we'll where are you sat well about two tables from the bar so not far she just shrugged her shoulders we all left a hour wasted and our day ruined such a shame because its not a bad place just bad staff

I’m absolutely disgusted by how a member of staff has spoken to our table this evening. We had 1 too many people allocated to our table which was unknown to us at the time. As opposed to politely being advised of this by a member of staff as you’d expect and a separate table being allocated. A young man barked at us “you can’t sit there”. When questioned about his attitude, not the comment he made. He become increasingly more aggressive raising his voice at a table of mature ladies who the most part were apprehensively enjoying their first outing since shielding. He then proceeded to shout at us for trying to rectify the mistake we had made. I raised this with his manager who was absolutely lovely and couldn’t offer a further apology. He seated us separately and we were happy for the evening however, I can’t help but feel disgruntled that someone in the hospitality industry could have such poor customer service qualities.

Went this evening for some food, first time in months due to covid etc. Staff had done an amazing job looking after us and working extremely hard. Food was spot on and wait time was not long at all.

Love this Wetherspoons! Really friendly staff, clean all round and great food. They’re doing a great job in protecting their customers and keeping them all distanced and safe. Looking forward to going back.

Visited during the ‘Eat Out’ 50% off Covid deal. The service was excellent, with the staff doing their very best to make everyone safe and welcome. Always good atmosphere at this pub, and you don’t come away hungry.

I've given this 'Spoons a couple of bad reviews in the past so it's only a fair that I provide a bit of balance now. I've been 3 times now since the lockdown rules were relaxed in Wales and have been massively impressed with both the service and food on offer. The staff had already made great strides before they were shut down and it's great to see that the good work has carried on through the close down. I was majorly impressed by the 2 steaks I've had there as well: nicely cooked and brilliant value for money!

Had a wonderful Afternoon with friends a few days before you had to close because of this dreadful virus. Just a big thank you to Jodie Owen Alan Julie and all the bar staff chefs cleaners and everyone who worked there many thanks to you all for looking after us. Thinking of you all . XX

Many thanks to the team at The Gold Cape for accomodating our large group ( 9 adults and a high chair) tonight. We all enjoyed curry night, great food and great value and a lovely table by the fire. Not having background music makes it a great venue for a night out where the chat is paramount. Thanks again.

Stopped by in Mold for a quick drink and was not sure what to expect of this Spoons from the outside appearance but it was very nice inside. Friendly staff, liked the bar area at the back with the high ceiling.

My friend am I went to Mold to do a bit of shopping and popped in to the golden cape for a few drinks and a catch up the staff are always friendly and helpful and are allways on the good many thanks to Jodie behind the bar she always seem to know what beers that would suit my taste and Mike Owen & Mark many thanks will be back soon cheers to you all.

Enjoyable visit,. An interesting bar with local historic features. Good bar staff, friendly and efficient and an excellent choice of drinks at good prices. Good atmosphere. Worth a visit

I meet here with friends each Monday evening for a couple of enjoyable hours. We all enjoy tasting the variety of real ales and having friendly banter with the bar staff, who are most obliging. The range of beers and the prices are good value to us as Camra members
