No wonders this place is always busy. Good vibes, amazing breakfast & decent service.

Greatly improved, friendly staff good service. Typical weatherspoons food and drinks, not very atmospheric building but plenty of seating inside and out. The history of mold golden cape displayed and nod to Daniel Owen. Clean premises, tables cleaned fairly quickly staff are efficient and approachable

What can I say cheap and cheerful

We didn't eat but enjoyed a hot drink there.

I ordered food for me and my wife on the app as the bar was very busy. It gave me a waiting time of 7 minutes. No way. I had burger and chips and my wife had scampi. It arrived in 7 minutes just like the app said. For fifteen quid including drinks I was blown away. Food was lovely. Service great. Nice pubby atmosphere.

Absolutely disgusting stood at the bar for 10mins 3 behind bar very quiet in pub bit not interested in serving so walked out

Nice Wetherspoons situated in an old bakery. Plenty of seating. Wide range of cheap drinks available. Great selection of ale on offer. Serves food. Nice ambience. Can’t go wrong for a pint or two. Cheapest beer in town. Family friendly within reason.

Popped in for breakfast. Cheap and cheerful. To be honest two breakfasts including mugs of tea plus toast and jam/marmalade. All for £9. Nowt to complain about.

Great for good value food n booze, but in need of some tlc.

It's a Wetherspoons. Enough said. Food is crap microwaved trash but it tastes fine. Like McDonald's. Beer is good though and cheap. So choose what you want: quality or cheapness. Staff are always stretched but we're polite.

Sat outside table 108,outside area spotlessly clean tables clean. Ordered coffee and small breakfast on the app, lovely breakfast, plate piping hot, excellent service, good choice of hot drinks, good selection of condiments to accompany breakfast, nice plants and hanging baskets in outside area, outstanding value for the price, excellent customer service,

Great staff , we had a pizza pipping hot and very tasty . Very busy but the service was spot on and served quickly.

Fast and friendly service for breakfast my pancakes and fruit were lovely but my partners scrambled egg on toast was lacking in the portion of egg. Good coffee as well.

Evening meal time and as we were passing through Mold on our way back to Ruthin, we nipped into The Gold Cape for a nibble of something and a bit of a wet. A chicken Tikka masala and a chicken burger was the order of the day. Very occasionally in life a microwave oven can surprise you. It'll knock up a meal that is tasty, hot and well worth the money you pay for it. This was one of those occasions. The curry was excellent, the poppadoms hot and crispy and the rice surprisingly edible. And the chicken burger was satisfying enough without being at all remarkable. No complaints here, enjoyed the nibble and the wet.

Wanted pre diner drink, waited at bar only one person serving, person in front of me served, then server walked down bar and served person behind me, then went and served another person who was behind me. Walked out without being served. Terrible service. Will not return.

Food lukewarm when served and tasted very stodgy. Will definitely be on the loo after it. Would not return. Very bland. Only good thing was rhe staff.

Not a very nice place anymore, the disabled toilet is now available to everyone of any sex without a disability, so if you can't be bothered to go upstairs to the main toilets you can use this one. Time to close the place down, no wonder it's now been voted worst wetherspoons in Wales.

The pub was extremely busy and noisy. Tables and eating areas hadnt been cleaned and we had to ask for our table to be cleaned. Food was served cold and very blanned. Staff quite unhelpful. Not our thing.

Packed out like a nursing home. Food adequate but breakfasts suck big time. Beer well priced. Gloomy inside, tables not cleared fast enough.

Better than the average JD Busy yet friendly staff.

Lovely breakfast loads of coffee for less than £10 each. Absolute belter of a pub with a great atmosphere.

Curry club night.. Absolute brick, could of mistaken it for a ice hockey puck. Onion bhaji, samosa and poppadum Bricks. Curry n rice was nice, then again it's microwaved..skill level zero.

Standard wetherspoons, fayre,setting and service at the usual reasonable price.

The place is cheap and cheerful- ish, it really does need everything cleaning, new carpet, and an update. you get what you pay for but its been the same for 20 years

Food not so good at this Wetherspoon's IMO. Long wait at the bar. Seemed under staffed. Later found out staff were sick and no cover so can be forgiven, I guess.

OMG, don't know where to start...Ordered taken from 2 parties at one table, first order (for 2 out of 5 of our party) simply wanted to change rice to chips on curry! Told "Curry doesn't come with rice!" So ordered chips. Ordered another meal, drinks supposed to be included but not asked what drinks, person on till said "oops should have asked if you wanted drinks" as we'd already ordered drinks initially we didnt make a fuss and said its ok(so drink drinks down). Second order (3 out of 5 persons)2 steaks, one rare one med/rarer and one burger, got the drinks offered this time (rare steak arrives well done, sent back for another, comes blue and cold inside decided to eat it anyway, burger comes stone cold inside, curry arrives with rice no chips, all start to eat despite one steak still not arrived, kindly asked about remaining steak, told"sorry steak didnt go through go order another" after 4 of 5 of us finishing eating meals steak arrives. After leaving the young man who had the burger is ill being sick, he's in bed today with diarrhoea and bad stomach ache! Made complaints at the end, woman behind till storms off! Probably the worst experience eating out ever in my 47 years now looking after my son (lad with burger) so a day off work for me and being self employed no wages for the day! Costly, very unpleasant experience, feel very let down. Only one positive the lad who served us was making every effort and you could tell he was very embarrassed by what was happening.

Had the large breakfast, one single mushroom the size of my thumb nail, bacon tasted like rubber, everything else was fine. Service was good

Popped in for Lunch food was actually very good. Service at the bar average only one person serving that gave impression didn’t want to be there. Service for food etc was very acceptable.

Think they have a new chef as the food is much better and served on hot plated. Prices have gone up but still excellent value for money.

A very nice and friendly Wetherspoons

popped in for some lunch with my partner and 2 sons, food was pub grub (to be expected) drinks were ok. only grievance was when u download the menu off jd weatherspoons website it shows the 3 small plays for a tenner. yet when we ordered its now 15. kind of an unexpected shock. also table in same area who were talking loudly about sexual content and "sniff they had done on the weekend" not exactly what you and ur kids want to hear when having lunch.

Nice pub beer was very good & very cheap, wasn't waiting to long to get served.

The food was amazing but the highlight for me was the person taking our order at the bar. His name seemed to be Gaz and he was absolutely amazing, calling us sir all the time and showing great manners. A man who knows how to do his job properly. He's going far in life 👍

Reasonably tasting food for a bargain price. Food arrived within minutes of ordering on the app. Plates were hot. Refillable tea and coffee. And free WiFi to boot as well. Ideal for a cheap breakfast and a catchup.

Exceptionally clean for a Wetherspoons. Ive been in some awful ones while travelling for work. Staff friendly. Quick service and food warm for a change.

The British Museum should do a cease and desist notice to remove association with the Mold Cape. To be fair there's hardly any staff and they're trying to serve cook and clean without the staff to do it. We had an albeit vegan burger that wasn't cooked and the staff member took it to discuss this with the chef advising that it met all heating and cooking requirements. Well that's ok then!! Other food was ok not up to the standard of other Spoons. Tables covered in stuff just looks like they've given up. I'm being generous with 3 stars. Update we've had a full refund for everyone's food and drink so at least the shift supervisor redeemed themselves.

In Ruthin it was terrible, in fact rubbish. To show our appreciation I gave a £5 tip to the woman taking our order. She said, oh, OK. However, after that things took off on the wrong foot. Because She insisted for a verbal expression of appreciation, "please miss may we have" "thank you for taking my order." The show £5 thankyou wasn't enough, How self opinionated can a person get in service to their employer and costumers? Maybe I should have given more tips, I don't know. Is £5 pound tip not a demonstrated appreciation in Weatherspoon's ?

The staff are really helpful, the food is ok ,not great but not bad ,but it is made quickly and for a table of 8 with different meals the food was there in just over ten minutes. Every satisfied and we went on our way

As far as weatherspoons go... this is a good one. Food doesn't always seem up to temperature, staff are always polite.

Here on a little date. Service was fast we used the app. We didn't order food but said we both wish we did. Think that's a future plan. Place was tidy staff were pleasant. Cleaning was 90% ok. Overall as id never been I would happily come again

Went in for breakfast ordered large breakfast and asked for the plate to be hot .breakfast arrived within minutes and the plate was hot ,couldn't ask for a better service.

Great food & drink for a great price, what’s not to love 🩷 We prefer this Wetherspoons to others in the area as it has a better atmosphere and tends to be quieter in the week which is nice. Staff are very friendly to each other and to customers. The Jack Daniels BBQ sauce is delicious!

Very dark, food.... asked for the steak to be rare, told sorry all cooked together. When the meal came, the meat ( mixed grill) was all very well done, (like cardboard) and meal was cold. I had people with me who were disabled, the disabled toilet was open to all, (no radar key needed) but stank to high heaven! And didn't seem very clean. On the plus side the few staff available where clean and presentable, and where polite and friendly. All in all ,the worst witherspoon I've been in, and we tend to go into them for lunch wherever possible on our travels.

Food was nice but atmosphere was too loud in parts of the place and quiet in others which depends where you sit.

Had a great Breakfast nice and hot and wholesome, staff were friendly and helpful. We had to Park in a pay and display Car park around the rear of the Pub , this was fine

Went for a meeting over breakfast, good wifi to help with the work. Cooked breakfast and 2 coffees for abiut a fiver which was ordered from and delivered to the table. Spoons has its faults but always found the golden cape to be of a decent standard

Nice friendly food pub. It’s not the Ritz but it’s good value for money and I scored . Very happy . “We “ will defo return I said I would come back and I have . I ordered a pint of Ruddles Best £1.77. An American burger with cheese and a free soft drink £5.24. The burger was delicious . So was the beer . The place was spotlessly clean . No sticky bar top, table . A big 👍 thumbs up . No wonder they do so well . The staff were brilliant . Checked if all was ok with my meal and were smiling and looked happy but my they were busy . I will make this a regular visit . I have two pubs in my village . I’d rather drive to Mold and enjoy Spoons hospitality . 10/10.
