Nice pub, good food, helpful staff. Had bangers and mash which was very tasty. The place was clean and tidy, will definitely go again.

First time visiting whilst visiting family. The bar staff were friendly and the prices were good, but the pub was quite empty and lacked atmosphere which the owners might want to remedy. That said, it wasn't an unenjoyable visit and I would visit again. Also worth noting the pub is dog friendly, which is a plus.

Restaurant was just closed as we arrived. Staff allowed us to get take away elsewhere and dine in using their cutlery,crockery and condiments. Fantastic friendly staff. Definitely be coming back to dine. Selling real ale £2.95 per pint on our visit. This review will be updated once we sample food. Been back for food and ti watch Newcastle v Manchester City match. I had cottage pie and it was delicious and very good value for money. I then has to have bread and butter pudding with custard. Yummy yummy and £2.50 per portion. Bargain. The staff continue to be polite and very attentive. Love this pub.

This pub is a treasure in a high street that is awful

After spending the entirety of the '90s in this pub with Mick and Mary, I feel I'm one of the legitimate reviews that can hold any validation... I went back for the first time in 20 odd years and it broke my heart to see what it's become. This place was THE place to be, it was full of life, laughter, friendly barstaff and clientele. Now, it's dark, drab, miserable and seriously lacking anything recognisable of it's past glory. Gutted.

Food is really nice and a great price. Could do with some weekend entertainment.

It’s a nice pub, good for watching football, although food is fabulous the wait is a bit much for me, normally 45 mins, if you don’t mind waiting it’s fine I guess, but sometimes I only want to visit for an hour and I’m hungry !

Called into the pub on a coach trip heading for London. Had a carvery. Food was excellent, hot, well cooked, well presented and delicious. Staff friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend!!,

Heavily pregnant on a very hot summer day, refused entry due to not wearing a mask.. The pub had plenty of other maskless people sat down enjoying refreshments, but as I did not PURCHASE a lanyard, I was rudely refused. The bar assistant demanded I disclose my private medical information before he would provide me with a cold drink! I was obviously not there to get drunk, just needed sugar and to sit down for 5 minutes, due to the staffs inability to read basic instructions off the gov website I was forced to sit on the hot pavement on the street while my friend ran to find a shop to get me a cold drink!

Awesome staff and customer (friends) £3.70 a pint

Noticed this pub for years and finally stepped in. It is a combo of old and new build in which the new section feels like a living room making it extra comfy and nice to sit and chat in with good people and nice drinks. Will visit again in future to check out the food as visited when kitchen had closed for evening.

Now the goat is my local, I personally Recommend this honest old booster the staff are awesome and the booze is priced well . The goat has just been redecorated and a lovley extension built. Also the chef is tops the food is cooked to perfection and the natives are a good bunch of lovable rouges !!😍

a good pub and worth a pint if in the area. Stevie Johnston did a great set as DJ on Saturday night and it generated a good Saturday night party atmosphere. Well worth visiting.

This is a gem of a pub with a good range of beers and lagers, all types of drinks reasonably priced and special offers on. The food is exceptionally good - real home cooked and of the highest quality and very good value. The chefs clearly know their stuff and the "specials" are innovative and satisfying. The staff are the most welcoming, always friendly and accommodating, both to "locals" and new visitors. They exercised great covid measures in the bad old days, making for a safe and comfortable environment. I would highly recommend a visit if just for a quick pint or a lovely relaxing evening with a good meal and good company.

I went here on a first date. The atmosphere was great and the staff friendly. We were drinking and we were asked if we wanted to join a pub quiz. The quiz was so much fun, the guy running it very funny and really friendly! We all sat around talking afterwards. Dog friendly and good beer/drinks selection. It’s one of the last remaining pubs in the area. Please support it. It was my first time there and it would be a dying shame for community hubs like these to go!

Came in here to watch some rugby and found this pub to be a hidden gem. I had a lovely steak, cooked to perfection and was washed down with some lovely Ale.

English neighbourhood pub with a friendly staff and Sunday Roast. Go for the chicken the beef was luncheon slices. New addition with a spacious balcony patio. A hidden gem in Ponders End.

The roof terrace is a joy, as is the bright and airy extended downstairs bar. I come in here regular on my own. Have a good chat to all sorts of people from all walks of life f. No one is snooty at all, and everyone's up for the chat. Read some other reviews and these people obviously live on a pedestal and have no experience in the real world.

The staff and management at this pub and restaurant always go above and beyond to welcome and accommodate their customers. I have been a regular here for 15 years and i have never experienced any negativity from any of the staff... the previous review from a 1 time clearly disgruntled customer should not be viewed, allowed or taken any notice of! I know many a customer who have been here regularly or once and have never heard of such awful feedback... this is my pub and it will always be a special family oriented place ... the recent refurbishment is spectacular and you do not need to know the surrounding area to feel welcomed and treated with respect.

This is a pub for the locals, the rough ones that crawl out of the woodwork in the dark of night. I went for a drink with colleagues from a local organisation. The landlady said we could order food to bring in as their kitchen is closed. When the food arrived she told us we had to eat outside as per government guidelines at a table for six. This was never explained to us in the beginning. She then went on to be hostile about the other colleagues supposedly not following rules outside that were nothing to do with our group. I happily left and ate my food elsewhere because the place is a dive and I would never eat on the roadside of Hertford Rd. Most of our colleagues were Black and the landlady clearly had a problem with that. Good luck going there if you are a darker shade of dairy milk.

I found this pub whilst out on a walk and couldn’t be happier that I did all the staff were brilliant the service was amazing and the food even better so I was working away from home in Ireland and they made me feel right at home again so welcoming and accommodating I’d highly recommend visiting this pub if you are In the area I’m glad to say I’ve made life long friends here!

It was the first time me and my family visited this pub, from the outside it looks small but it’s not. You wouldn’t realise we was still in this pandemic as when you walk in the atmosphere was just perfect, Football on the tv, people chatting and laughing(not too loudly) Food was delicious and the 2 men that was working I couldn’t fault them especially the guy with an accent, I didn’t get his name but was very friendly. Me and my family will definitely be back... maybe it’s our new Sunday lunch place. Thank you to the whole team that work there

Drink is drink. But the fish and chips taste a bit like they were cooked two days ago and re-heated in the fryer.
