A fantastic dog friendly pub, carvery and food !!

Lovely Sunday carvery. Our sever John was brilliant and the service at the bar was also really good. Best roast potatoes I’ve ever had at a carvery.

No rating for atmosphere because I ordered through a third party app. The portions are amazing. The food is delicious. If you want a Fully loaded carvery, this is place to order from. Massively superior to other carveries Toby cough cough. Wish I had taken a photo, next time I will.

The cavery was shocking. 5 of us went here on Saturday. The carvery was awful! All the veg and potatoes were so dry where they had been sitting under the heat lamps so long. Both the mash and sweed mash were crumbling where it was so dry. It was around 12:30/1pm so lunch time. So no reason to be so bad. We hadn't been here for a while and don't think we will be back any time soon. Only positive was the waiter was very polite and helpful.

Good carvery. Food well cooked and plenty of choice. Help yourself to veggies etc. Had vegetarian options. Friendly staff. Good value for money.

I came into today and was greeted by 2 lovely women called Donna and mir and ordered a carvery , and I must say the carvery today was the best I've ever had . The roast potatoes were amazing the chef Liana told me how she made them so crispy and fluffy I get amazing service every time I come in and the food quality today was brilliant.

Had a delicious trio of pizzas, with a great variety of fresh ingredients on the pizza. I recommend the hot honey with extra jalapeños! Big shout out to Ryan and chef Scott for such a lovely experience. We're looking forward to returning for another meal

Had to wait 20 minutes at the bar to order food. Was looked at by bar staff whilst no one was around. 5 people came up behind me and they got served first??? Chef was rude that had no smile what so ever just put his hand out to take the receipt. Other than "what meat" that was all the service. Then had to wait 25 mins for a drink through table service.... Had to go and ask the manager. By the time the drinks came, we had already finished eating. This place has gone down hill. Probably will stick to a Tobey instead

Decent Sunday Roast and highly recommend the delivery service for Roasts as well. One of the members of staff (John) is exceptional and whizzes around making sure that everything is OK

This place is run down so much over the years, part of the building are visibly falling apart and 0 attention to fix them The management team are awful, they walk around like they own the place yet they're not actually doing anything I visited last Sunday for the carvery - the food was the only part that was remotely satisfactory. Lockie (the manager - fella with about 4 teeth) was strolling around walking past customers waiting in the que to check in but wasn't saying he was busy or anything, was just walking around to the bar and back over and over. I booked in for 3 people at 6pm, I did not get seated till 645 and when I did, my table was filthy, my daughter of 8 years ended up taking initiative and getting tissue and cleaning the table herself, SHE'S 8 Loads of other tables were empty but covered in food and the tables were extremely sticky - when we finally got seated there was maybe half the restaurant taken despite the manager saying no tables were available even though the website let me book for 6pm There was also only about 2 staff doing anything and 1 was managing the bar but seemed more interested in sorting glasses than serving the lines of people waiting, and when the manager came over to help he went straight for the people he knew and said 'the usual' - they weren't at the front of the que........the England v Finland game was on and he kept looking over at the screen and doing nothing while people were standing there waiting Place is filthy, service quality is awful, lack of staff is evident but why would you want to work for a manager like that, and the food was just about okay

My mum and her partner took me out for the carvery here and to be honest, it wasn't the best. Food was nice and well cooked but clearly had been sat out for a while. Place was clean but empty. We were the only people there apart from 3 people sat out the front with their drinks. Staff were a mixture! Our barman was bubbly and friendly but the other young lady that stood there doing nothing stated she couldn't serve us so waited until the gentleman showed up to take our order and payment. Chef was grumpy and seemed to have an issue but served us as what meat we asked for. My mum also commented that he was the chef that had shouted at her a few weeks ago to not ring the bell and as my mum is an older lady, I found this to be rude and disrespectful. She also stated that they all heard the arguments that he was having in the kitchen with his staff. The chef heard this and didn't deny any of it. Having not been here before, I won't go again. The atmosphere was miserable with grumpy staff, no customers and adequate food. Apparently it used to be amazing there but from what I saw it's pretty sad to see how so a big place could be so empty and abandoned.

Ordered via uber eats. Was the worst order I've ever received in about 10 years. The burgers were soggy with the buns reduced to nothing, items missing, tator tots absolutely under cooked and horrible. The burgers used to come in proper card board boxes, now you get them in squashed aluminium foil and cling film wrap. Quality went way down hill. We used to live the Goat. But we'll tell everyone to avoid this horrible disaster now as we will do. Absolutely appalling.

Nikki and Donna are amazing barmaids and always go above and beyond for me and my friend. The chips are always a good portion and always crispy on the out and soft on the inside.

Had a nice evening, John scotty, Lana and for some out tattooist Josh was cooking in the kitchen for some reason a lovely evening spent with sleepy, bashful, happy, dopey, doc, grumpy, sneezy! We like the goat, we often come here for date night

We come here for breakfast a lot being a family of 5 it’s one place where they have a lot of choice and something for everyone.

We went there for a roast dinner as I couldn’t be bothered to cook I don’t normally like to eat roast dinners out but I couldn’t fault it potatoes were crispy good choice of meats and the gravy was lovely an thick just how id make it at home .

We've been to The Goat 3 times now and keep returning because the burgers and pizza are so delicious and well presented. The staff are friendly and welcoming and there are often great offers on the food too. Today were welcomed and served by Scotty who was chatty, friendly and very helpful. The veggie supreme pizza had good sized chunky mushrooms and big juicy slices of tomato and onion which was awesome and the Dirty Philly Burger was stacked to perfection. Had a lovely roast at the Goat today. But John our server made it great. What a great asset he is to the pub, nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile.

Always consistent. Friendly and helpful service from John. Carvery meats were tender and tasty, veg was a bit tired, but that’s because it sits under heat lamps. Meal for 3 was £50 including two cocktails - so great value for money. A good Sunday Roast standby.

Loved the place, great atmosphere, the food was top notch and servers very attentive! One in particular impressed called Lana who went above and beyond to give me a great experience! The chefs were amazing, especially Terry and scotty! Definitely coming back!

Yum!!! Love the food here. Better than most carvery's, massive portions and decent quality. A much broader selection of veggies, lots of them and REALLY good roasties. Have tried all the meats, our favourite is the turkey. Not dry, as you get with some restaurants, a decent bit of flavour. Stuffing tasty, too. Have eaten the burgers as well, and they are also great. A really good, affordable and quick option for a midweek meal, avoiding the usual junk stuff. Would highly recommend.

Very under staffed for a Sunday, very busy, but the few staff there did their best. Long waits on carvery, veg on the carvery constantly running out - especially roast potatoes. Ordered a childrens meal, too, which had no care on presentation. Wont be returning. Felt sorry for the staff.

I visited the Goat earlier this week for a takeaway carvery where I was served by the very helpful John and Joe they were both very helpful and went out of there way to ensure that I was served quickly and got everything I needed before I left. The food itself was very tasty as usual and I will definitely be returning in the near future.

Lovely meal this evening with the family the carvery was lovely, john one of our servers was very helpful and kind and attentive. Will be returning again. The gentleman at the bar doing our drinks not sure think he may be the manager was also very lovely and attentive.

Food and service were excellent Staff were very kind But the atmosphere was in the middle because crying child but good restaurant would go again But no unlimited drinks station

Sadly I won't be returning to the Goat at Halliford. I'm simply not prepared to pay to park my car in a pub carpark and be constantly fretting if I will be face with a charge. Clearly alot of others think the same. In a carpark capable oh holding some 60 - 80 cars, ther were 4...

I’ve ordered from/eaten in The Goat in the past, today I ordered the carvery, it was completely inedible, the food was cold, stodgy, oily and flavourless, I also paid for a large and had close to no meat. I haven’t eaten it and it’s going straight in the bin, such a disappointment.

Possibly the worst food I've ever had in my life, the potatoes were so hard I could use them in construction. The service was atrocious, the chef dropped the meat multiple times and refused to compensate the lost meat with a substitute. Only turkey left with a small amount of gammon, which ended up on the floor.

If you like the feeling of immense disappointment and dissatisfaction round the dinner table look no further than The Goat. Shame I can’t give it 0 stars. Nearly shattered my teeth tryna take a bite of the roast potatoes. Vegetables tasted as if some1 had already digested them for me. Tbh ur better off drinking paint than having their gravy. The chef was cack handed and dropped the only cut of meat they had available. Place is filthy and knackered- even the flies didn’t want my food.

Roast dinner dry as veg etc had been out under lights/heat for sometime.

We had my Mum's wake at the Goat back in February for 14 people.We went for the 2 course carvery. Coffee and juice was available for us when we arrived and we had Fantastic service. The Manager could not do enough for us even letting us setting up the tables the night before. Carvery was cooked to perfection. There was no rush for us to leave. Thank you so much. Chrissie xx

This is a local pub for me and friend after work. Had pizza absolutely delicious 😋 recommend to all. Prices good too!!!!

Very dissappointed left most of the food

On arrival a very nice young lady was quick to greet us and said she would show us to our table, a male staff member came up and asked her what she was doing, he took the laptop and told her there was no booking for us, she said there was but he had done something that when she looked again it could not be seen, she was then able to recover it and showed him it was there, we were then taken to our table. We tried to use the app but after completing all the options the app said there was a problem and to try again later, we ordered 3 carvery at the bar and were just asked if we wanted large or regular, when we went to get our food my wife asked if she could swop the yorkshire for ONE pig in blanket but was told this was £1.50 extra and it should have been paid for when ordering. We ordered dessert and one of the items was the apple pie, when the desserts eventually arrived almost half an hour after ordering the apple pie was inedible it was more like sponge than pastry, when we pointed this out we were told that they would get the manager, then someone appeared and asked if we wanted something else to which we said no, they again said that they would get the manager but just returned and plonked the cash for the apple pie on the table. Whilst waiting to get our carvery the server made inappropriate comments when sake my another group if the turkey was male or female, saying can’t you tell it’s female it’s got large breasts ! We had our granddaughter with us.

The pizza and carvery were very good value for money. 11.99 for a two course meal during the week 👍 I would highly recommend it.

ordered dessert and paid for it only to be told later on it wasn't available so had to get refund.Also told the code we had didnt work which was ridiculous .Overall very disappointed esp as it was a birthday meal.

The pub has no atmosphere and the staff are as joyful as a undertaker. We asked what beer was available and got told to look on the menu if we wanted to know. If you want a dead ,dark and some old run down pub this is the place for you .also if your on a diet you should eat here as well with less than 10 chips with every beef burger you get . We did not stop for dessert had to get some antidepressants on the way home . Hopefully we will never go back there .

Wouldn't go there again staff weren't friendly or intentive. Toilets need a deep clean. They had fly infestation and found 5 flies in my wine. Only had turkey and beef no gammon. Tables weren't cleaned and not enough cutlery and servites on tables. Food wasn't covered because of fly infection and food was cold. I would go there again. Outside a tables of people very very loud on drugs had to much to drink. One girl was dancing on table and they very loud and not nice language as we had a 14 year old with us and she was very embraced by them.

I gave 4 stars because John was on all fours and brought much humour to the table

Very tired venue Needs decorating

Popped in for a toast on Monday night no beef so opted for fish and chips but that was off the menu . So had burgers and were not disappointed. Very nice freshly cooked good quality burgers . Delicious .!! John our server was a very pleasant young man . Most apologetic that fish and chips was not available. Will definitely be coming back .

Food was absolutely gorgeous and love the salted caramel sundae really good service and Chelsea made it fabulously.

Bit sceptical when walking in looked quite run down and had to order online from the table which took abit of time due to signal issues. We were served by John who provided excellent customer service and very helpful. We had nachos to start and pizza for main which were both very tasty really enjoyed them. Kids meal were great value with dessert and drink included. Great value for money and enjoyable experience

I always order from here, and order a roast and burger and chips, there's enough roast for two people, which tastes great, the burger and chips were tasty as well , it's also a brilliant place to visit, the staff are always so friendly, the chef always checks everything is ok, not sure of his name, he normally does breakfast,
