Cracking village pub with very friendly characters, lovely pint of Butty Bach, the food did look good..to answer past criticism, the toilet was spotless and smelled clean, it's an old pub so full of character....it's a pity Wales lost, great stop if you're at Bracelands.

Great selection for food. Huge portions and very tasty. Small carpark in a village setting. The staff were very friendly. The locals treat you as friends. Recommended.

We were staying locally with a friend and the home made pies were recommended to us and now we know why ! Loads of tender beef in a brilliant gravy, a crisp pie crust and Roasted carrots and parsnips. Actually one of the best pies I have ever had, anywhere! Served with a smile and a good choice of beer

Our son turned 18 on the Saturday ‘23 rd’ my husband booked a secret family meal for his birthday as we were staying in pods near by. The lady rang us back with in 5 minutes of booking and asked us would we like the room dressed with banners and balloons .. Amazing ! We turned up and they decorated our eating area fantastic ! Free!! The meals were delicious and they were very friendly and would go above and beyond for us .. highly recommend by us xx

Cracking local! It's a proper locals local so no airs and graces but the locals were fab and the staff super friendly. If you don't mind a proper local and you like to chat then this is cool . Everyone made me feel welcome for a well earned pint!

Our favourite quiz night! Marcus has taken the time to get to know the regular quizzers. He is friendly and approachable, making the quizzes fun. The whole team at the globe are friendly and fun, the drinks are a good variety and a good price! We’ll be back for the next quiz!

We were staying in the nearby Forest Holiday site, as I had recently lost my husband, I wanted all the family including grandchildren to join me on Christmas Eve and had asked the pub in advance if they could do sandwiches for all, this included dairy free ones too, and they didn't disappoint, the family were very impressed. I had also arranged to collect cold Christmas lunch on the big day, so I could take back to our cabin and reheat, it was a lovely dinner with all the usual trimmings. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone visiting the area, and I wouldn't hesitate visiting the pub again. Well done Tamara and her team, I wasn't looking forward to the big day, but it went better than I could have imagined. Sonia

Would have liked to try the puddings but too full after main course.Staff extremely welcoming and friendly as were the locals. Our German Shepherd was allowed in the bar. We visited of a very hot July evening whilst staying in the Forest of Dean. The bar was busy and noisy, but we were on our own in an adjacent dining room. The food was okay and very reasonably priced, but the atmosphere wasn't great with the noise and often swearing from those drinking at the bar and being on our own.

We was recommended here , from someone in the town . After asking for somewhere to eat . We wasn’t disappointed, it’s a locals pub with a good atmosphere, friendly staff , and clean . My OH had faggots , I chose the ham, eggs...

Staying at the forestry lodges, it’s a ten minute walk; staff and regulars very friendly with a good array of well kept beers, didn’t eat here - but the smells from the kitchen and the plates of food looked awesome.. great traditional pub, pool table...

Brilliant Pub, the food is really good. The atmosphere is really welcoming and comfortable. Has pool, juke box, darts, everything you could want. Staff are really friendly. Tamara is doing a fab job as land lady! Great local pub!

Me and my partner visited the globe a couple weeks ago whilst visiting family in the beautiful Forest of Dean, gosh what a beautiful place! We visited the globe numerous times on our visit and found the locals and staff very friendly. We were served by a lady called Jo who was very friendly and polite! She made us feel very welcomed and was easy to talk to! Only thing a don’t like is the green paint in the bar, and what seemed to be German robot funk being played on the jukebox. Not my cup of tea.

Just a local pub, nothing special. Good price for beer. We only had a drink and sat at the front of pub. The sunset was lovely. Couldn’t see it all but the sky was amazing.

During this pandemic, cooking at home became a chore so I decided to see if any of my local restaurants were still open offering this service. Luckily, I found that The Globe Inn, Berry Hill did. I rang them around 11:40am and immediately got a response they could deliver a lunch of my choosing at around 14:00. I placed my order for a Roast Beef lunch and Apple Crumble with custard this with delivery came to £10. I gave them my address and luckily a order was going by me in 10 minutes they asked if that suited me better. I agreed and 20 minutes later my hot food arrived. The food was well packed and plentiful, after a quick microwave I sat down and enjoyed my lunch with a glass of wine. The food was excellent, quality home cooked food, well done to all staff at the Globe Inn for this wonderful service during uncertain times, I'm glad, that I could support a local business and ensure they remain open. A great local service which provided quality produce -5 stars.

We knew that takeaway was an option due to coronavirus, but that was before the closure of all pubs. So phoned on Saturday to try and order a Sunday lunch. No problem. We were asked what time we wanted. No problem. Delivery offered, but refused as collection is easy. Arrived on time, food was ready and waiting collection from kitchen door. Paid by card - no problem. Food on proper plates. Gravy in microwavable containers. Homemade apple crumble in one container, custard in another. On getting home put plates in oven for 5 minutes ( they were covered with both foil and cling film). Gravies microwaved for 1 minute.Generous portion of pork for me, nut roast for my wife. All vegetables fresh and cooked just right. Owner and staff (Chris, Steve and Jamie) all as helpful as possible. Food very good. Would recommend.

We popped in here for a drink and to see what it was like as we were looking for places we might eat in during our visit to the Forest of Dean.It seemed very popular as it was busy but it was not our kind of place.The place is in serious need of refurbishment both outside and inside.The car park was strewn with cigarette ends, rubbish and an old mattress.The inside just looked tired and uninviting.

The bar staff are friendly. The pub is clean but there’s something missing. Maybe not as warm and welcoming.

We have visited this pub for the last 3 years whilst staying locally for a week, we eat her each night as the food is fantastic, especially the chicken curry! The atmosphere is fantastic and it really is a pub which is at the heart of the community. Everyone is welcomed, not only by the staff but the locals also. To top it off, it is very dog friendly! We will continue to visit each year.

Stopped here for lunch. I'd seen Tripadvisor reviewer comments about gluten free home cooking, so I was expecting something a bit more gastro. That's not The Globe at all - it's a good honest pub doing tasty, simple food at a great price. The staff are friendly, and the place seems to be a happy place to work and socialise.

Been many times to the Globe, lovely food especially the garlic breaded mushrooms and Sunday dinner. Staff are so lovely and the owner always makes time to say hello. It was always a great place that we could take our two collies with us and the staff would always make a fuss of them. Always feel welcomed and staff do anything to help, highly recommend!

Very close to the Forest holiday cabins, this pub offers a wide range of good food. Two members of our party of eight were able to choose excellent home made gluten free food. We were given a great welcome on arriving without booking. It has a good community ambience. The prices were very reasonable and the meals of very good quality.

Really good atmosphere. Enjoyed a great early evening in here. The drinks were very good, plenty of choice and reasonably priced. A locals pub but they were all chatty, and great bar staff. Dog friendly and we had our 7 month old Labradoodle with us so we were never short of company. Returned night after for a meal. Again with our dog. Not bad choice from menu, food decent for the price which was very budget friendly. Not a place to take the boss out to but we loved it.

We were staying in the Forest of Dean lodges for a big birthday celebration. We found this pub on tripadvisor. We ordered starters, mains and desserts. Amazing value for money. The potion sizes were very generous £8 for a mains special you can’t go wrong.

What an absolute lovely day we had there. Food was amazing for price. Staff was lovely locals was great and joined in our fun. I would definitely return if I'm up that way 😁

Only popped in for a pint saw the menu and had a burger has to be the best one I have ever had and the staff are very helpful and friendly freinds that have been there have told me that the other food on the menu is first class if you are in the area its a must

We were a party of eight and booked sunday late must say on booked on the morning and they just got us in so I would recommend being a little more organised. The food was really nice 1 course £7.50, two course £10.00 and three courses £12.50. We had a mix of two and three courses and couln't fault the food, drinks are reasonable and staff really friendly. Dog friendly and there is a pool table in the bar area.

I was working in the area and needed some lunch! Quick search on trip adviser and this pub popped up with what seemed to be very good reviews. Parked up, walked in and was surprised at how busy it was for a Monday lunchtime. I sat in the bar area in front of the tv and the atmosphere was good. Locals were friendly and chatting amongst themselves, bar staff were friendly and helpful also. I ordered the faggots, mash, peas and gravy and for £5 it was great value for money. The menu seemed to have a good selection but I couldn’t resist my choice.

This is a little gem. They sell good beer and although didn't get chance to try it a highly recommended menu which was a very reasonable price. Would definitely go back

This place was brilliant, only 500m from Forest of Dean holidays. Cheap and cheerful with exceptional food, we were that impressed we went every night for 4 days and never had a bad meal or experience. Staff were so friendly and lovely xx thanks guys

On a weeks stay we found this gem early in the week offering great food at value for money prices. With a good range of beers and drinks.

This pub had been recommended by the staff at Bracelands Camping Site. We decided to check it out with a coffee first. Glad we did. We sat at a table (of which there a very few) overlooking the kitchen, which had music on -v- the juke box in the main bar. Nice enough staff but too much colourful language for our liking on this particular occasion. The mural on the outside is great! Maybe that could be reflected on the inside.

We are visiting the area from Leicestershire and stopped in on a whim for a spot of lunch. I had liver and bacon with mash and peas and it was delish. My wife had vegetable lasagna chips and salad and said it was very tasty. The portion size is perfect not at all small but not so big your overfaced. This also leaves room for pudding and at just £3 a pop it's hard to say no. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the locals make you feel welcome. At £9 for a main and a pudding like the title say I just can't fault it. Lovely.

We visited The Globe on a steak night, the steaks were cooked exactly to our liking, one vegetarian lasagne was excellent and the sweets were also excellent, we couldn't fault anything brilliant value The chef Steve was very pleasant and accommodating, also Tash from behind the bar was a delight as always.

I often visit with my young child, and I am so disappointed for all at the globe reading one of the quite frankly nasty reviews! The globe is amazing! Excellent value! Great food! Fantastic staff! Keep doing what you do! Haters gonna hate! No pleasing some people!!

Just an ordinary pub, a bit tatty, a bit cramped but a friendly welcome and great value food. Apparently they have just put up their menu prices so mains are now £5 AND £6 but starters and desserts still a ridiculous £2.50.

I cannot rave about this place enough! Meals are excellent quality for the price.

Had a lasagne there this afternoon. Clearly microwaved, which is disappointing, as it doesn't take much to simply put it in the oven as opposed to microwaving. I wouldn't have minded the longer wait, and my lasagne was pretty much destroyed. My girlfriend's vegetarian was fine, though, as obviously vegetables dont harden like mince does when microwaved.

I’ve eaten at the Globe several times on weekday evenings and have found the pub to provide very good value. The main meals are £5 and puddings £2.50, good portions, the staff are always friendly. It is not cordon blue cuisine, hut nor would I expect it to be, but the vegetarian curry with half and half is tasty and the cheesecake is always good! I like the friendly dog who lives there, as well.

Good, home made pub grub . Well priced , good portions , plenty of selection . A nice warm welcome , plenty of ales and ciders on tap ... highly recommended

We were staying at a campsite & had just done what felt like a marathon walk through the woods & up to Symonds Yat.

After a day canoeing we dropped in to the globe for a meal .The staff are friendly and made us feel welcome including our pet lab .

We booked here to have sunday lunch and its a typical village pub, locals friendly and the food was good, roasties homemade + Yorkshire puddings homemade and the beer was priced okay.. dart board & pool table pretty good went for lunch at 2pm and stayed until 8pm :)

V much a locals pub but we were shown to our table which was separate from the main pub. There were 4 of us plus 2 dogs & we were all made welcome. Value for money was incredible and the food was good pub grub. The puddings went down particularly well. Wld def come here again. Service was good too.

Stopped off here to have lunch not knowing what to expect, saw the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence on the door and thought it must be half decent and it was. Lovely friendly welcome from the barman who as well as taking our food and drinks order managed to also serve a couple of locals who needed their glasses refilling (quite impressive) They don't normally do sandwiches but were happy to accommodate two of us. They even accommodated my eldest granddaughter's strange request for gravy on her mashed potato even though she was having fish fingers with it! All food was tasty and well cooked and extremely reasonably priced. This is a real local's local in a small town and possibly not to everyone;'s taste but we were glad we decided to pull in and try it, we were not disappointed rather pleasantly surprised. Looking for somewhere to eat. Surprisingly pleased with result great basic pub food. Very well priced. Helpful staff.

We popped in here whilst travelling through Coleford. We were looking for somewhere to drink/eat and on the basis of previous Trip Advisor reviews decided to stop off. After looking around for a table and deciding it wasn't really somewhere we would want to eat, we decided to only have one drink and a packet of crisps (a safe option) and got away pretty sharpish after that. We didn't get a particularly warm welcome at the bar either, so this really made our mind up not to stay too long.

Been here about a dozen or so times now, can't fault any of the meals we have had. The Sunday lunch is exceptional in quality and price. Friendly staff who can't do enough for you. Made to feel welcome any time.

Had a really good Sunday lunch today. Friendly staff, friendly locals and great food. Astonishing value. Five of us had lunch.. admittedly we had non alcoholic drinks and only three had puds but under fifty quid. I can recommend the beef, but these having chicken were also impressed.

WE dropped in for a midweek lunch and the Ham, egg and chips are still as good as the last time we were here. We also had a Sunday lunch the following weekend and Chris and staff maintained their good service , great food and amazing value, well done all.

We’ve just been for lunch at the Globe. We took our Grandson as it is half term. Good food, and very good value. The Ham Egg and Chips were good. The Faggots and mash were particularly good. Grandson was very nice impressed with the chocolate...

Roast dinner was a disappointment. Very salty gravy that we couldn’t actually stomach. The nut roast was half burnt and the remaining portion tasted of mush. Oh and the white hair in it didn’t help either. Not impressed. Sorry Trip Advisor but you’ve let me...

Popped in The Globe for tea as we were staying at Bracelands Caravan Site. The Globe is a proper pub with a simple menu but delicious and good quality food, the starters are £2.50, mains £5.00 and pudding £2.50, there is also a specials board, you cannot grumble at those prices, we have starters, main and pudding, all different and all good, much better than I was expecting for the price. I thoroughly enjoyed my main of ham, mash, peas and parsley sauce, and the Stowford Press cider was the best I have had. It's not posh nosh but if you just want good food in a friendly atmosphere you cannot go wrong here, and the pool table is only 50p a go. Wish this was my local, I wouldn't bother to turn the oven on again!

From the half of chicken (which was massive and cooked beautifully) to the bread and butter homemade pudding, which my mum said was one of the best she had tasted, the 5 of of us had a fabulous lunch here. The staff and locals were lovely and friendly, would we have returned if saying in the area longer?? Absolutely.

Open everyday, families and dog friendly. Seems like a local very close to forest holidays village. Food was cheap and very good, homemade with a good selection of food. A good selection of beers and double spirits for £3. As indicated pub is not upmarket but for £30 3 of us had main, pudding, coffees and a round of drinks! Give it a go!

Was recommended here by the owners of our holiday let. What a super place, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and the locals. Good choice of menu at an unbelievable price. The food was superbly cooked and presented. Great choice of drinks, would love to live nearby and it be our local.

We ate here one early Monday evening. I had a beef lasagne and my daughter had fish fingers. The food was nice and the bar maid was very attentive. I washed my meal down with 2 pints of lovely real ale (Otter and Hancocks). We then played pool. Overall it was very good. We returned the next night as my daughter wanted to play pool again. We found that the pool table was on a free vend :o) It's well worth a visit.
